Nice and authentic Real délicious indian food Place reservation in advance

This is a lovely restaurant with friendly staff. The food was perfect, certainly one of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to. For a main course and a couple of drinks, it's about £30 per head so while not the cheapest, you will certainly receive your money's worth in quality. After the meal, the waiter's offered all of us complimentary drinks. Choices included Port, Sambuca and Whisky. For non drinkers, I'm sure they would offer a soft drink. Restaurant was busy so would advise booking a reservation before attending. I would certainly come back to this restaurant.

I love curry and Shamrat is amongst the best Indian Restaurants around. Service is excellent and attentive. We usually spend a bit more here - but mainly down to temptation (such as the Irish Coffee to finish).

It's on a busy road and the nearest parking is one of the paid parking spots around the corner. I arrived at about 7:30 pm and the restaurant was extremely busy. If you are going for a quiet place to have a chat with someone - forget it. The tables are very close to each other and it feels rammed. The food was nice and my pathia came hotter than hot. The toilets are upstairs and feel very shabby and and dated, almost dirty for a place that charges prices like that for curry. Staff were nice and polite. I probably would go back but it wouldn't be my first choice.

A lovely meal here tonight. I used to be a regular but haven't been for years for one reason or another. Nothing has changed, the restaurant is cosy, staff are all extremely friendly and attentive and the food is awesome. I asked for a special dish not on the menu and they did it without question. I love asking the question “what do people rave about when they eat here?” When the staff answer with “everything” I feel lost. When the staff throw in “it depends how spicy, with sauce, from the tandoori.” I pause and stare blankly at my hosts. Thankfully, being Brummie, I can navigate my way around a Indian restaurant menu. Got help a person who does need assistance at Shamrat. What was I expecting? Given the reviews, a lot, but I do need to lower my expectations in this part of the world. BIRMINGHAM truly is the Mecca of the best Indian food in the U.K. Whereever else in the UK I eat, I should ready myself for disappointment. Rant aside, the food wasn’t that bad. The stuffed pepper with fish starter was surprisingly tasty. The prawn piri-piri main was beautifully presented, sumptuous, but really firey. A good Indian by Kent standards, but if you want the best, get on a few trains and enjoy inspirational Indian food of Birmingham. Amen.

As i was working in maidstone for a few weeks i asked around what was the best indian restaurant, the Shamrat was the first for many, myself and two colleagues went and had a fantastic meal and a chat with i presume was the owner or head chef.The food was delicious, the staff were first class and we will certainly be back before we move on.

Nice restaurant and good waiters. Food is extremely expensive and some dishes like the saag aloo not really worth it. Mutar paneer had mostly peas and not much paneer. Lamb buna was nice and naan was good. Mum enjoyed the lassi.

FABULOUS! In my opinion, the best curry in the WORLD! The service and staff are wonderful. The food delivered to your table in perfect time. Been a regular for about 10 years now, staff are very friendly and helpful. Good choice of menu, with all the classics catered for, along with a few choice specials. Have to agree about the red chilli sauce with the popadoms, its amazing! Good price too. Never had a bad night there, always consistent, unlike a few others in town!

Just about eveything has changed since I last ate at the Shamrat. The menu has been revamped, the decor has been updated, there is more choice and some new dishes to try that I haven't seen elsewhere (the brogobi bhaji and palak chicken were particularly tasty). One thing that hasn't changed is the service, which is, and has always been, attentive and extremely polite. Prices are very slightly higher than the competition, but given that the food was so good, it feels justified. Recommended!

A true delight, Shamrat offers consistent quality the way only an independent can, with authentic, complex flavours served in a warm cosy atmosphere. The staff are attentive, there is a little bar area to enjoy a drink before your meal, and they have a wide selection of vegetarian options. What could have been a brilliant meal was disappointed by the level of spice in the tikka masallas. Unfortunately they were too spicy as were the Bombay potatoes. The Korai and other meals were lovely and presented well but the heat for the three curries was too much and could not be finished. Great service, even if the table was a little cramped for 6 of us!
