F. R.Superb venue. Small but perfectly formed menu. Great for carnivores and vegetarians alike. Fresh food, beautifully prepared. The side dishes of paprika fries were larger than expected - we could have shared one plate. Excellent night out.

Meze dishes were great. Prawn Frites had Fresh, zesty flavours. Chicken Pie was very more-ish. I think just a full meal of Meze would have been fantastic.
The Babs themselves looked great but didn't taste that great. Crispy chicken was so crispy it tasted like there wasn't any chicken in the pieces. The bread was alright - a bit on the limp side.
My friend ordered a chickpea shawarma but we got a regular chicken kebab instead, even that wasn't that interesting - flavours were toned down. Although it was brought by mistake I was quite excited to try the toum, but it tasted more like garlic mayonnaise than actual toum.
Not sure how many people would pay £14 for a kebab. Maybe in London. Granted, BAB is producing food which is better quality than a regular kebab shop but I think I'd still prefer a local kebab over this.
A. A.Attentive service. Lovely atmosphere. The food was very good- particularly the Greek fries! There were several vegetarian options- the tenderstem broccoli Bab was the favourite!

As with most NQ places the interior decor is super cool as are the Clientele but it works well… still keeps a relaxed atmosphere.
The food really was class.. and a little different which is always good in my book!! Worth looking up.. good little bit of pre gig grub!!
M. L.We went for an early dinner and between the two of us, we ordered the trio of dips and 6 crispy chicken wings as starters to share, and for our main course we both ordered the Mixed Bab.
The dips tasted fresh and homemade and there was plenty of flatbread served with them. We were expecting the usual pitta type bread, but instead we were surprised that they were crispy (fried probably?). They were nice and crunchy and after the flatbread had been eaten, there was still quite a lot of the dip left so we kept that for our next course.
The crispy chicken wings were my favourite, not overcooked and still juicy and tender, but we both agreed that it needed more seasoning. Despite scotch bonnets in the description, we felt that the heat was very mild and once the crispy skin had been devoured, the chicken itself tasted a little bland.
The main courses were impressive to look at but we felt that the chicken was again under seasoned and a little dry. The lamb was soft, but perhaps not as juicy as we would have liked. There was minimal sauce so we felt the overall kebab was a little dry, so we were glad that we had the dips left. The cheesy chips which were part of the kebab were pointless in my view - the cheese had gone cold over the chips and instead of a melty sauce experience, it didn't add anything except chewy cheese.
I would go back again to try something else, but I wouldn't prioritise it as I didn't feel that impressed. We were both stuffed though and the portion sizes were generous.
The service was a bit stilted - we had to wait to be seated and although our order was taken quickly and our food arrived quickly, it was difficult to get attention from a server and it wasn't busy at the time we were there.
I think it's ok, worth trying if you like kebabs obviously, but I didn't feel the food or the experience was enough to make me say it was good.

Both were amazing, the flavours were on point and you could tell they had really been though out. Would highly recommend this place to anyone and definitely worth a shout if you in the area.

R. P.Loved it the 1st time I went. They have since removed one of the 2 vegan main dishes. The 1 they have left states it has pickled tomatoes, on the menu... After the 1st time I tried this, the tomatoes have not been pickled which is a shame as it kind of made the dish something special...

Summary: Thursday evening dinner with friends, booked ahead and we reached on time. We were seated and the staff were really nice. I ordered the Mixed Bab from the main food menu and lamb croquettes the mezze menu. Both the dishes were underwhelming in terms of flavour and pizzaz, if you know what I mean. The meat itself needed more spice. Maybe it’s brown guy in me talking and other prefer this way of cooking. Well I wouldn’t recommend it to any of my friends when there are literally hundreds of kebab places in Manchester who do more flavourful ones for less than 5£. This is place is expensive.

S. T.Standard Northern Quarter shabby chic eatery, with a menu based around Kebab.
Not your late night chilli sauce affair, more subtle flavours and textures with a fusion twist. Think Greek, think Turkish and you're in the right ball park.
Service is your standard NQ brusque, but efficient style.
Food is ok, given the competition in the NQ, it's not amazing. Nor was it served very hot. It's not particularly cheap, but they have a lunchtime special that's an acceptable price.
Decent selection of beers and they accept card payment.
C. J.Came here today because we found a good deal online and has been a while since we had a date. We couldn't book a table for the evening time we would have liked, so went for lunch instead. Decent selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and pretty decent food menu too.
Great atmosphere and really attentive staff. There were a few things on the menu that we picked that weren't available, and we weren't able to take our iced coffees out. But apart from that, it was really nice. My favourite thing was the Greek fries - basically loaded fries Greek style. Also liked the halloumi fries, but would have been better if they came with some kind of sauce for dipping -- otherwise they feel a bit dry.
Giving a 4 instead of a 5 because I think it's a bit of the expensive side for a kebab if you've not got a deal of some kind. Still really nice though and would recommend.
J. H.Bit of a shame. Used to go here a few years ago and it was great. Quality now clearly reduced to keep prices lower (the lamb "BAB" is a dry, poor quality meatloaf that is worse than a cheap takeaway's standard doner meat) with everything that's going on but you get better food in a more basic place. Sides were ok though

Down a side street in Northern Quarter, Bab is open daily providing a variety of funky menu items in a hipster setting. With an open kitchen allowing you to see the food made, it allows you to see your order being made first-hand and with the quick service, you’re not waiting long at all.
Now, onto the most important bit of what we ate...
The Greek Fries [£4] was one of our items. We weren’t really expecting much and then we were pleasantly surprised. It was really lovely and tasted kind of like a Greek version of patatas bravas with creamy gooey feta cheese on top. If it was intended to be that way, then well done as mission accomplished.
The wraps can be eaten by breaking into small pieces or can be wrapped up to be eaten - whatever takes your fancy. This is all possible as it’s made with a thick roti flatbread. Both of the wraps had some pickled carrots and Mooli (radish) which provided that extra bit of tang. The wraps we had were;
Falafel [£9] - The tomatoes on this wrap were so juicy and the sauce was really tasty with a slight spicy kick
Halloumi [£8.50] - The fried halloumi with the subtle orange taste proved a unique twist

S. D.Our food was really tasty. Both had the mixed BAB and it didn't disappoint! On a hungrier day I'd have ordered some of the meze on the side as it looked great too!

We were totally blown away, great service from the young lady, who was very attentive, and friendly and my girlfriend had a brilliant cocktail too. The Sous Chef Sam came over and made some great recommendations, one in particular was the Lamb Koftas with a Vimto sweet chilli! Which is a taste sensation! Highly recommend this place to anyone, the menu changes regularly too, so there's always something new to try. Thanks ever so much, we'll be back

We had chicken bab, halloumi bab and paprika fries and it was a perfect amount. Can order online if you don’t want to touch a menu, hand sanitiser on entrance and the tables are spread nicely!
V. I. M.A beautiful kebab place in the NQ excellent service but it is a bit hidden but not far from Stevenson Square. Something to add to the review that it has been missed, BAB NQ has invested good money to make the place accessible to the disables and families with pushchairs by having an elevator installed for that purpose.

N.Lovely little place in NQ. Generous portion of food at decent prices. Loved the Ice teas and your "doggy bag" is your food wrapped in foil in the shape of a duck 🤣
Unfortunately the food was a little too rich and slightly salty for my taste buds.. We had the Lamb Shawarma (very salty sauce and easily feeds two!) and the Lamb Adara (Very rich pieces of meat and a very sweet marmalade, too much for us)...
Starters were fab, Prawns were delicious, but again a little heavy handed in the salt.
The meal would have been perfect with a massive bowl of fresh cold salad 😋

R. A.Go for the best kebab you will ever have and treat yourself to a side of Greek fries! I've tried both the lamb and pork kebabs and both were great. The Greek fries always steal the show; thin cut fries covered in feta cheese, crushed olives, tzatziki, thoum and chilli sauce.
Bab change their menu regularly and have made some fun creations such as sweet chilli vimto sauce!

S. W.There are narrow steps to the entrance. Mixture of high and low tables in modern setting. We booked ahead but the place was not full on a weekday. Order two starters and two kebabs as mains. The mains were served while the starters were still on the tiny table. The food starters were nice and flavourful, the kebabs were OK. Cocktails were nice, only a selection of 2 beers on tap. Staff were pleasant and polite.

W.Had dinner booked at 6pm, it wasn’t busy, when arrived waitress asked if we wanted a high table or a low table, we chose a low one which later was a bit regret as the table was really small (a table for 2), we had 2 starters, when we ordered the food we already told the waitress that we wanted to be served before the main as starter, out of the expectation the main course was served when we were still eating the starters, it wasn’t a big problem if the table was big enough to put all the food, but the table was actually so small that we couldn’t really fit all the dishes in. Though the waitress was trying to fit everything in, I was feeling that we had a rush to finish off the starters so as to clear the space. Food and service were average.

Tried the chicken wings, feta fries, trio dip and moussaka croquettes for starters - all excellent and flavoursome. For the main went for a mixed kebab, the meats and naan were authentically cooked and tasted as if you were on holiday. I will definitely return to try out the special Christmas kebab! All the staff were friendly and excellent service. The restaurant is very clean and trendy inside, it has a good atmosphere - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

For me, the flavours didn't go together (I ordered the mixed BAB) and somehow there was not enough flavour. The waitress and the kitchen apologised to us as they saw that I had barely touched my food. They asked what was wrong and at the end they didn't charge us for it. Because of that I would definitely give this place another chance.

R. S.Good service and a nice space. However, overall, we weren't impressed with the food. The olives and artichokes we had for our starter were swimming in oil. The swordfish kebab was incredibly salty to the point where I couldn't finish it and I found it a little dry (no sauce.) Also, a lot of the advertised beers on tap weren't actually available. The paprika fries were really good though. Probably won't rush back unless they tweak the menu.
S. C.Went when it was 50% off for the scheme. The service is great in Bab, I didn't know what to get between steak and lamb. The kind waitress recommended the lamb. So that is what I got and I wasn't disappointed 😍😍 beautifully cooked lamb and the flavours of the Bab were amazing. I will be back!

Staff seemed to be very stressed, with lots of different people involved in serving each table.
Food was good, but could have been better. The halloumi wrap was nice, but grilled halloumi would be better than fries, and a crunchier salad would have lifted and freshened it up a bit. The mushroom "non-bab" was a little confusing also as it was presented on the menu as one dish, but arrived as a salad and a side portion of chips, didn't quite work together. Also, very few vegetarian mezze dishes, and we fancied some side veg, so we asked if we could get a side dish of tenderstem broccoli, but we charged the full kabab price of £9.50.
Overall, lots of potential, but wouldn't go back unless the menu changed/improved. Would possibly return/recommend for a set lunch menu and the hummus was fantastic.

M. M.We were the first large party hosted here, with the choice of all 3 menus. There were a couple of glitches, but nothing to spoil the evening and the helpful, friendly staff made up for it by resolving them quickly.
The food was lovely, good value, and plentiful. The staff were attentive. Water jugs constantly filled, tables regularly cleared and quick bar service.
It was noisy, but as we were a group it was fine.
We loved it and recommend it.
T. L.The food at Bab is ALWAYS so good!! I cannot recommend it enough. If you're looking for somewhere cool to eat on a trip to NQ you have to go to Bab, there is nothing else like it. The staff are really lovely too.
G. S.Really pleased with the food here. Had the chicken kebab, with fries and a fig salad. It was fresh, decently sizes portions, great sauces. It's a small place and was very busy between 7 and 8, got quiet very quickly afterwards. There's also one vegetarian and one vegan main meal.
Updated review after trying the curried cauliflower kebab. Really tasty but only three very small pieces of cauliflower. I'm not greedy but I thought that was a bit tight, especially as the meat dishes seemed really piled high with food.
D.The staff were great and made our group (who were on a low-key stag do) feel very welcome! Everyone enjoyed the food and the cocktails were delicious (would highly recommend the Rock Me Amadeus if you like rum cocktails!)

The kebabs are either £9 or £10 for essentially a flatbread with some meat and salad on top. Granted the presentation is nice and it does taste delicious, but for what it is it's expensive. Also consider the side of a smallish bowl of chips with some sauces and feta for £4.
If you're looking for a treat and some tasty Greek food however then this is the place for you, just don't expect what I would call a classic hearty meal.

D. K.Contemporary bar/restaurant specialising in kebabs. If you like kebabs then you'll love this place. If you don't like kebabs then you honestly should try this place. It's different from any other kebab shop.
The kitchen is open - nothing hidden. There's a small bar serving alcoholic drinks at the going rate.
The Greek fries are very unusual. I'd never have thought of putting yogurt, chilli sauce and crumbled feta cheese on chips, with what I THINK was finely chopped black olives. It shouldn't have worked - but it did. I meant to take a picture of them but I'd polished them off before I'd realised. They go so well with the ice cold Italian beer on tap I'd used to wash the down. The lamb bon bons were supposed to be the side star of the show but for me these fries were perfect with lager. And did the job while I was waiting for the main event to arrive.
I'd opted for the pork souvlaki kebab because where do you see that in England? Normally its donner or shish.
First things first, it's served open flat so you can immediately see what's in it. I like this because it gives me a chance to taste the meat and a couple of other elements on their own without anything else. Perfectly cooked. There's no nervous chef here taking it to Chernobyl and back, this is confident cooking. Next I tried the crackling. It was so tempting I nearly ate it all before realising I'd better wrap this thing up and eat it as intended with all it's component parts working together.
The bread was nice and thin, the way it should be. Fresh, charred and earthly rustic. I want to say primitive, but in a good way, natural, healthy back to basics material. I'd wager money there's no more than 3 or 4 ingredients in that bread.
There was a perfect ratio of meat to bread to accompaniments. Fresh tangy yogurt to keep it moist. There's no cash 'n carry mayo on these kebabs. The spicing was perfect. The heat component came from a single whole grilled chilli. Take it off or leave it in, mine was left in because I love it spicy hot. But it wasn't too hot, it was slap bang in the middle of the Goldilocks region of just right.
A kebab of this quality for just a couple of extra quid on top of what you'd pay in a greasy kebab shop anywhere - it's really good value.
This was my first visit but it certainly won't be my last. I want to go back, I want to work my way through the rest of the menu. This is Mediterranean perfection.

J. P.Myself and two friends visited Bab this lunch time as a treat, using a 50% off code found in the Dealer app. After a decent enough meal, we were presented with the bill of around £40. We asked to use our code and were met with some difficulty as the server didn’t want to honour it, due to the fact the partnership with Dealer app was “unofficial”, which didn’t make any sense. After some back and forth, the code was begrudgingly honoured. I suggest if this isn’t legit, Dealer are contacted and the offer removed. Otherwise, I’m shocked at that service.
C. M.We ordered most of the mezze menu so we could try everything! A touch on the sweet side with lots of sticky sauces drizzled around but overall pretty darned yum. Great service, nice vibes and good quality food at very reasonable prices.
O. T.Brilliant food in a really chilled environment, the staff were really attentive and friendly. The vimto kofta and the houmous are both must-trys too. Food is served pretty quickly and is filling, so would be perfect for a quick lunch as well as an evening bite.

R. J.This keBAB shop is defo catering for the more upmarket kebab muncher. I had a steak kebab which was pretty tasty. The bread has a bit of a pancake texture and vibe which is a little strange. The other components to the bab were v rich which at the beginning tasted hot to trot. However I struggled with said richness a bit at the end. Bit pricey but I do recommend it if u want a scaled up bab.
