Reviews of COTTONOPOLIS • FOOD & LIQUOR

We had an amazing evening here and tasted the special 7 course menu they were running in January for £25!! What a deal.
It was really busy for a Monday night and the food is definitely the reason behind that! The crispy squid was my favourite dish the honey sauce was something out of this world. The pork gyoza was also probably the best I’ve ever had. We inhaled the food so quickly but unfortunately we were kept waiting on one of our courses for quite a bit of time. I believe we may have been forgotten about. However this didn’t spoil the evening and the food was worth the wait when it arrived.
Would love to come back and the young guy that served us was fab!

We got the chance to look at the tasting menu and decide what we wanted to order. The food came at the right time and it was super nice and tasty. Service was good and the only reason that I’m not giving 5 stars it is because we were seated by the toilets and the e emergency exit were it was very cold

Based on multiple people recommending this place, I decided to heed the advice and book a table for a Valentine's Day. It was really unexpected and nice that they offered a floral bouquet service (paid for separately) that could have flowers ordered and delivered to the table before we arrived for the booking.
The table we were provided was a corner booth with seating up to 6 people (and the flowers), which was really awesome, thoughtful and gave us a lot of space for the plethora of dishes we were about to order.
The staff were attentive, sincere and responsive from start to finish. Usually, our experiences have varied with mid-meal menus or cheque requests, which can take a long time and you feel somewhat ignored and neglected -- this was absolutely not the experience at Cottonopolis. I've never felt more happy to pay the service charge.
We opted to go for 'a la carte' as opposed to the fixed price "Taste of Cotton" menu as we prefer to get whatever we like the sound of. A mixture of sushi yakitori, grilled greens, chicken katsu, fish, gyoza and even dessert was ordered.
We were recommended to order 3 plates each, which is a solid recommendation if you don't have a huge appetite - ordering about 5-6 plates with drinks and heavier sides/dishes like rice, bao buns is more suitable if you want to feel full at some point in the evening!
Looking forward to coming back and trying the other items!

Didn't get the name of the bartender but he made me a twist on the espresso martini with whiskey and it was amazing as well as other cocktails. One with raw cocoa powder on top got me a sore throat for hours, stuff like that never works raw on top of a cocktail. And then I saw the manager pouring some white wine.in the jigger and then not washing it. What's the point of a great selection of wines, not a single Italian tho, if you mix flavours by not washing your equipment?
J. P.
One of my favourite places in Manchester. The food is amazing with a wide selection of sushi and other Japanese inspired dishes. Cottonopolis also always has some of the best cocktails in the NQ. All that along with great service is why it remains a bar we keep coming back to.

We had such a gorgeous evening at Cottonopolis catching up with friends. The food was to die for and although the plates are small they are so filling, we ordered 3 of the smaller plates each and were stuffed. The drinks were all different to anything I’ve had before but we’re also delicious. The staff were all extremely helpful especially our server Rory. It’s definitely worth visiting if you’re in Manchester and we will definitely be back!

It was our first time in Manchester and we had a lovely time. I had pre-booked our table about a month in advance which was beneficial as they were very full up.
It was my partners Birthday last night and I phoned cottonpolis to see if I can bring a cake with me to celebrate my partners Birthday and they said yes which was very nice of them. Sar lit the candles and brought it out. Thank you very much Sar!
Having arrived we had already thought about what we were going to order but as we went to order there was a couple of items that weren't available so therefore we asked the waitress (Sar) for her recommendations and we trusted her and omg we were amazed about the quality of the food and the presentation of the food too.
The cocktails (Fuji dawn) we amazing
We ordered:
Duck Gyoza
Prawn Gypza
Salmon Tataki
Tuna Nori Tacos
Seared beef maki
Salmon&crab maki
Sea bass sashimi
All of the above were simply amazing!
Thank you very much guys!

Could not fault the food, the drinks or the dancers. Absolute queens.
Also Alissia the waitress was great!!

I love the bar, the selection of drinks is brilliant, the decor and the staff are all wonderful. But every time I come here it's so cold and it really impacts my enjoyment and how long I stay. I was wearing my hat, scarf and gloves inside the bar and was still dreaming of a space heater. I met another customer in the toilets who was trying to warm up by running their hands under the warm tap only to discover that too was freezing cold! Appreciate it's a listed building with single glazing so can be difficult to heat, but I think more could be done to make it warm.

Rory was a star and he made the visit better and made me go from 2 stars to 3. The venue and drinks were very good and I would recommend going here for drinks and even food (not sushi) but would not recommend the bottomless brunch, which we went for. Staff was super friendly but the place was just to busy and we found getting our drinks replaced took to long, we opted for the £45 per head menu and based on other bottomless brunches we have been to in the city, we felt these offered better deals. The was a times where we had placed our drinks orders but these did not come. However these were still listed on the bill. Not an issue as it was a set price and after we raised that we was still waiting the order was re taken and the drinks came right away. I think this was down again to how busy it was and just got missed. It was a mixed bag on the food, I had pulled pork bibimbap, egg and rice, which was really nice. My friend opted for prawn and avocado sushi rolls which there was only 4 and these where very small so again not worth the price tag. Maybe an idea would be to put how many rolls you get on the menu.
V.
Beautiful venue and super friendly staff but service is extremely slow. The prawn crackers and rice were excellent. But the rest of the dishes we tried were pretty average. I'd recommend eating before you visit and going here for drinks with sides
Y. C.
Stars are purely for the food, of which the chilli squid is very good and the portion is enormous! Drinks were good too. Our server was fairly good but there was about 25 members of staff in on a not very busy evening and it still took 20 minutes to get our drinks, all the staff avoided eye contact for anything else and acted like they were doing us a favour by something as simple as bringing the card machine over. Also it was freezing inside and me and my friend had coats on the entire time for this reason. More attentive staff and a warmer environment and would be 5 stars
X. X.
Lovely venue - good, original food and amazing cocktails. Not cheap, but worth the treat. I had the pork baos, wagyu beef wonton, salt + chilli squad, and yazu cocktail.
N. C.
Love the atmosphere of Cottonopolis, really cool place for drinks and food if you so wish. We booked our table for 3 but had a couple of extra additions and they were totally fine with it! It's bar service for drinks, and just be aware it's an open kitchen so as it's quite enclosed the whole place got quite smoky, so you might leave smelling of food! But overall will always go back here just bc its such a great vibe.
i. l.
Food was nice and staff very polite. We went a family of 4, 3 adults 1 child. They had run out of a few items the time was around 6pm? The rating was given as a 3 as surprise a service charge added automatically to the bill. I get if we were a large group. Not cool if we get good food and great service we always tip the staff not the company who add this on :(
B. M.
Went here for my birthday lunch with my partner on a Sunday for their ‘yatai’ dining experience. EPIC. Staff were lovely and super helpful. The food was delicious and reminded me of a certain smash mouth song, “just start coming and they don’t stop coming” we left there VERY full and happy.
k. d.
Food and drinks were so tasty
The brunch package is great value.
Our server was so helpful and friendly
J. W.
Wow, we were blown away by the food here. We had been wanting to go for a while and finally made it to do the tasting menu where you get 7 courses. Honestly every course was just incredible, the highlights being the sushi and the pork bao which my partner said she could have had 7 course of!
Our server (Mike i think) was fantastic as well, naturally so friendly and helpful which just completed the experience.
R. C.
Sarah makes the most amazing mocktails I've ever tried. Each one gets better and better. All made especially to suit my tastes and alcohol can be added for those that drink. The amount of attention to detail with the little extras make the presentation top notch. Sarah always makes a fuss over me and I recommend anyone to try her delicious drinks.
M. P.
Very unique Japanese themed bar with a carefully crafted cocktail menu, with top quality Japanese food to go along with it.
S. G.
We dine in here a lot and the food is always delicious. If you're looking to try Cotton for the first time then take advantage of their January deal, 7 course tasting menu. It's really good value for money and the food was excellent as always. The staff are lovely and it's dog friendly.
S. W.
Loved it! Genuinely Excellent food, fun atmosphere and excellent menu covers!
T. R.
We had the January 7 course set menu which was absolutely delicious and came in abundance. This was my 1st time here and I would definitely recommend. High seats could do with being a little more sturdy we went as a party of 10 and 7 people had dodgy chairs.
S. R.
First time there last night. Food was absolutely fantastic and possibly bettered by all of the staff. We probably had contact with 3/4 staff members, all of which were outrageously friendly and helpful. Well bloody done!
A. M.
Excellent place to test quite a few Japanese dishes in one sitting with lots of tapa style dishes. A tad noisy for me with the loud music, but service was great and food superb. Well worth a visit if you fancy something different
R. S.
I was going to take a star off...but only because I went for an early dinner there tonight (6pm) and the music was so loud I felt like I was eating in a nightclub. Personally in a restaurant that is also a bar I think you turn the music up that loud after 830/9...but no one seemed unhappy so maybe its just me!
Otherwise the food and service were impeccable. Great sushi, tempura, grills from the robata and gyoza. Everything came out promptly and the front of house staff were great.
For modern Japanese food and cocktails without the pretence of some other places around Spinningfields...this is the place!
It's too harsh to take a full star off for the music...I'd give it 4.5 out 5 if you want to go for a family meal in the evening but if its a group of friends then it's 5 stars - no doubt!
C. B.
Went here for bottomless brunch on my hen do.
The staff were great considering we had a table of 26.
The food was so tasty and our drinks never ran dry!
D. F.
Decent food, good service and an interesting menu, but a little overpriced. However this place needs to decide whether it's a restaurant or bar, the music is simply way too loud to hold anything resembling a coherent conversation over dinner there.
L. R.
Great food and cocktails, with great service. The cucumber salad and aubergine katsu were really good. Lots of choice for vegetarians and GF menu options
O. H.
Came here from a review during my trip to Manchester, staff were very friendly, seated fast and the cocktails were excellent. Recommendations from the bar staff were superb.
H. J.
Brunch is always incredible here. Lovely staff and very dog friendly. It is very popular so book ahead and you will not be disappointed. Be warned that although all dishes are extremely tasty some portions are larger than others so it's worth asking your server whilst ordering to ensure you don't go hungry afterwards.
L. Q.
The staff were amazing, attentive, professional and it was clear they loved working there. HOWEVER the 'pulled pork bibimbap' was frankly offensive to korean cuisine, there was no gochujang, non of the usual vegetables, no Sesame oil...you can't just put a fried egg on rice with some meat and call it bibimbap...it was tasty...but it wasn't bibimbap
S. K.
Our 1st visit to this Lovely Japanese inspired restaurant. Food is so fresh, love the decor & amazing choice of cocktails. The staff are so friendly & helpful and willing to go out of their way to make non alcoholic mocktail that even aren't on the menu! For the record their cocktail have won awards against London bars & restaurant! With such original names and unique combinations I'm not surprised. Sushi here is awesome too.
M. L.
Well this place it is a really good bar in the evenings and weekends I knew they did food so I decided I would pay them a little visit over the weekend. They open a little late for my liking 10 a.m. is when they open for breakfast, other places nearby open earlier.
The Venue itself as a very nice interior but when I went last Sunday all the positives overridden by how unbelievably cold it was and to make matters worse they sat Us near the front door so every time a customer's walked in there was a massive cold draft very displeasing when you're trying to cut a decent breakfast.
The food itself was pretty good however the waygu brisket crumpets and poached eggs although very tasty I prefer a crunchy crumpet and they one they gave us was a little bit soft to my taste but that cannot be held at the negative because that's just how I like my crumpets.
However the pricing of our meal I think was a little excessive £40 for breakfast is a lot of money, I don't think the breakfast we had was good value for money.
J. M.
Kitchen has an excellent grasp of flavours and seasoning. We came for breakfast and tasted yuzu and shiso leaves in our dishes, which is unconventional but worked a treat. The confit duck croquette on waffles with orange gravy was also excellently seasoned.
Customer service also first rate. There was a missing order due to a kitchen mix up, but it was sorted straight away and comped from our bill without having to fuss. 10/10

Fantastic Japanese inspired menu , not cheep but good . Great beers and atmosphere , great for dinner , dates or just meeting people
S. R.
Nice bar/restaurant, loud but not too loud, just buzzing with quite a few people. I went with colleagues for a meal and we had the fixed price "pick-one-from-each-section" menu which worked really well.
The first choice was pork with watermelon which wasn't a combination I'd normally think of, but it was lovely. That was followed by pork ribs which were again really good and nicely spicy. The KFC inspired chicken in bread was OK but nothing special, neither were the rolls with peanut sauce, they were still tasty, just not as nice as the first two things I tried. Service was really good and getting served at the bar wasn't difficult either, with a large range of beers, wines and spirits.
I'd not heard of any of the beers, but sampled a few different ones and enjoyed them all.
A nice place, recommended for a nice meal and a drink or two.

First time here and it won't be the last, the food was amazingly delicious the staff and service was excellent 10 out of 10. Being lactose intolerant I hardly indulge in deserts but the chef prepared a special dairy free dessert which again was fantastic. Highly Recommended.
j. v.
Came today for Mother’s Day bottomless brunch. Really enjoyed the food&drinks our hostess Melissa was so attentive, really made our experience there welcome, drinks were always coming and food was great. Thank you
N. B.
I went here mid week in the evening, having looked online for somewhere that served meat free and Japanese themed cuisine. I reserved a table for 7pm, glad I did as the place was busy! Got to our table and had drinks and food ordered within 15 mins. Service was great throughout the meal. Food was delicious, similar to many tapas style restaurants the small dishes ordered arrived at the table when they were ready. I couldn't fault any of the food or service on the night, thoroughly enjoyed the meal and would definitely go again. I would recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment. Theme is casual contemporary.
J. N.
We went for the January set menu of 6 dishes for £15 comprising tuna noir tacos, salmon and avocado salsa, fried chicken, pork spring roll, teriyaki chicken wings and sesame glazed ribs. The food was absolutely delicious as were the cocktails. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a casual but lively vibe with surprisingly comfortable seating at high tables. It was excellent value for money.
T.
Food was delicious and filling. The lunch menu has great variety at an affordable price. Decor is fitting for the location and the waitress who become our primary offered impeccable service but our original waiter (a man) was quite poor, gruff, and rude. Thankfully she turned it around and made it a positive mid day lunch dining experience.
c. z.
We visited on Sunday for two hours of epic Chinese/Japanese dim sum. I'm still full, and we left five hours ago!
Great staff, great space, absolutely genius cocktails (try the plum and raspberry one), good value.
Highlights were the posset for dessert, all of the sushi, and the chicken dumplings. There were a few things that could have been even better with the food: Chinese pork dumplings use bicarb to get a light filling wheras this was a bit heavy; I'd have appreciated a couple of other dipping sauces in addition to the soy. But who cares when it's all yummy and there's so much to eat!?
M. H.
Hard to give a fair review on a first visit but I'll try to be objective & honest , I loved the vibrant atmosphere as soon as I opened the huge doors at the top of the stone stairs from Newton Street. Table booked, seated straight away with my daughter. We like to eat out together when we get a chance. When we were approached by our waiter I found it difficult to hear myself speak and hear him too because the music was a bit loud, it was a confused set up, bar integrated with dining, along with a set up for a DJ too. Just a decibel lower would do. Service was excellent, food was first class, clear simple menu laid out in styles of cooking ie:- Ice, Oil, steam etc. There's also an alternative Summer set menu £15 but we wanted to get our hands on the Wagu beef, Prawns and so many great flavours we chose 4 different items to share. I had a beer called a hep cat beer ? New to me £4 for a small glass ? Just lets itself down on some of the prices £4 for a cup of Chai with Cinammon, this has to be a bit OTT in my opinion. Ok your paying for a service I accept but I can't see Students using this place based on prices. Apart from that I loved it. The food won me over but £57 for 2 and not great on portions ? The Jury is adjourned I need to go back and I will....its a captivating interior that lends itself to its name a converted warehouse that appears to have retained some of its traditional fittings from the Days when Cotton production dominated Manchester's rise as a huge contributor to the Industrial age where it became known as Cottonopolis. Great name but £1:50 for a brew is more realistic guys. Jazzy flavoured Teas at £4 won't win people's pockets.
C. S.
Had the most amazing food and drinks. On our visit to Manchester we had been told about Cottonopolis so thought we would give it a try. We were so glad that we did. Great helpful staff they explained and recommended what people normally order from the menu. The drinks arrived quickly and food ordered and arrived soon after and they also explained that the food comes out once ready. The food was very tasty and well presented. We loved the atmosphere and decorations. We will definitely visit again when down in Manchester. Highly recommend
F. M.
I attended Cottonopolis yesterday evening (a Saturday) and I wasn't aware that it had a club like atmosphere on the weekend. So it was rather loud and people were walking around you as you tried to enjoy your food. That is however my only negatives. The staff are friendly and very attentive. The drinks were nice and the food was lush. It is almost tapas style and the dishes come out as and when so it's like a pleasant surprise when more food arrives at your table. I would like to commend the chefs and servers on delivering piping hot food to our table with each dish. It is so very rare to go out to eat and have food that was actually hot and not tepid.
Would definitely recommend and would go back (but midweek when it's quieter).
R.
Great food and atmosphere
M. B.
Sadly the ‘Taste of Cotton’ menu left us feeling disappointed. Service was woeful with little effort above the bare minimum. Dishes weren’t bad but the corn was very poor (overcooked and mushy). Real shame as the venue is beautiful but our experience was draughty and expensive for the quality provided.
M. B.
The place and food is decent. Staff were accommodating when we wanted to move tables. The Whisky + wallnut cocktail is great. Food is priced a little high for what you get in both flavour and amount. 4 stars.
S. F.
Food was absolutely delicious, we got 4 dishes and 2 sides between 2 of us and that was plenty. The cocktails were also very good and really unique. The service was great, with the staff being very friendly and happy to help. Definitely would recommend booking as it was very busy. Also not the place to go for a quiet meal, there is a DJ playing music which creates a great atmosphere!
C. H.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing food
k. s.
Decent cocktail bar and restaurant. The bartender was lovely and the drinks we had were well balanced and delicious. Unfortunately, we booked in for a January set menu and were told that we were unable to have it, due to booking less than 24 hours in advance, despite receiving a confirmation email as well as text. This is fair enough, but what really brought it down for us was the rude service from the floor staff. The host explained the situation to us after the waitress dismissed us. The restaurant was completely empty, so it was a bit odd to turn us away, but we didn't want to stick around. We decided to leave and go for a meal somewhere a bit more accommodating. So, I'd recommend for cocktails but I'd leave it at that.
M. S.
Very enjoyable experience was treated to the 7 taster meal which was very enjoyable the only problem was we were not in formed the food could come in any order slight lack of communication also two diner on opposite table had there dog with them which consequently peed on the floor it was not a working dog just a small pug type I was not impressed with this in a food establishment
R. A.
Jack was amazing and went above and beyond for my bestie's birthday meal on March 20th. Thank you so much for being amazing!! Amazing service!!
C. A.
The lady that served us was lovely and so helpful. Good service in general and was really happy with my scrambled tofu on waffles. Massive yes from someone who usually eats normal scrambled eggs on waffles.
It's obviously winter and cold.... the only downer was going to the loo; it was quite chilly after the comfortable temperature if the main room.
Definitely going back!
A.
The decor, staff and drinks were all great. We were big fans of the hanging plants and chandelier. I liked that there was a DJ playing, but my gosh, the music was very loud.
We both felt the music was bizarrely loud for 7:30pm on a Thursday evening. I probably won’t rush to return unfortunately.
S. M.
The food is absolutely amazing and the staff is by far the staff by far the most accommodating I've ever met - made mine and my boyfriend's anniversary the best it could have been! Could not recommend this place more!
I. M.
Food was excellent, the dishes were small, more like a tapas style restaurant, so best to order 3 to 5 dishes per person if your sharing. The fish, chicken and lamb dishes was really nice. The deserts were excellent. The service was good not excellent despite being a very busy night. The place has a DJ at night with loud music playing, I could barely have conversations with friends but it is what it is and can't fault them for that, it's their night atmosphere. The decor was lovely, candles on the tables, dimmed lights and cost. We reserved a table for a large group and we got seated in a good area near the front door away from the other small group.
T. N.
Lunch became 7 hours of fun. Great staff very knowledgeable on cocktails which was a plus. Great place
E. M.
Good food good ambiance but.. if you want your wallet to be happy, maybe pre-eat before coming here. Each food on the menu is meant to be shared between I say two people, in tapas style. There were three of us, and we ordered 6 dishes which weren’t enough.. so maybe order 3-4 dish per person. Overall I enjoyed the food here very much!
L. M.
Love this bar, fantastic drink selection mostly priced competitively. Cocktails are amazing and creative but a bit expensive. Really cozy place with funky contemporary decor and the bathrooms are really quirky but clean. Music is good played on fantastic speakers, always a plus for me. Location is also brilliant just around the corner from Piccadilly Gardens. Lost a star because the food is quite niche and pricy and some drinks are quite expensive.
J. M.
Great place for both food and drinks, they had a great selection, we were there in a group for the bottomless brunch and we all thought the food was great. Really lovely staff, cook decor, great atmosphere, and not too expensive for the NQ. Defo recommended!!
L. W.
Great chilled upbeat atmosphere with DJ playing good selection of music. Tasty Thai food and well priced wine = very enjoyable night
g.
We ate as a large party for a birthday. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We brought a birthday cake in earlier and they looked after it for us. They are very dog friendly and bring the dogs food and water. Food is excellent Asian fusion cuisine. They do lots of beers on tap. One of my favourite places in Manchester.
L. S.
Tucked away in the Northern Quarter serving an Asian inspired menu. The staff were really attentive and love the decor here.
M. R.
The setting...amazing. The staff....attentive, knowledgeable and charming. The food....exceptional when it turns up. Sadly the timings were the only let down for this restaurant. We ordered a number of dishes and much like wagamama the food arrives as it is ready which is fine. With great gins on offer and excellent company the food arriving in bits and pieces didn't dampen the flow of our evening. Until we had all but finished and were still waiting on 3 dishes. 45 minutes later we were still waiting which started to become an irritation. Our waiter tried his hardest, even extending our table booking when the food still hadn't arrived and we were being asked to take a seat at the bar but alas as the final plate arrived over an hour late we were ready to move on and had to send the dish back. It should be a 5 star review but the wait between food became an issue on an otherwise faultless evening.
A. J.
Amazingly creative selection of meals! If you're looking for something a bit different, I'd highly recommend this place. The staff are very friendly and welcoming to boot! Pictured is the duck breakfast - duck sausages, duck bacon and duck egg. It was absolutely divine!
S. R.
Had a beer on the way back to get the tram good looking pub/bar but absolutely reeks of fish and fat
L. S.
Bit pricey for a tapas style place but we enjoyed the food especially the prawn boa buns. Will return again
K. W.
As always, great food, staff, drinks and atmosphere. I prefer the early dinner session as it's quiet enough to chat.
Z. W.
Fantastic meal, great staff who took care of us and explained the menu. It was very busy with an event on but didn't feel like we were ever ignored.
N. S.
Had a really love meal here. Staff were friendly and attentive and made good recommendations on the food (and the amount) and drinks. The signature cocktails are amazing and we even saw some of the infusing process which the waiter explained to us. All in all had a very relaxed evening and I would definitely recommend for Japanese food and unusual drinks!
D. L.
Fantastic food. Excellent service. Good value for money. Well worth a visit
J. B.
The food and cocktails were lovely on the Bottomless Brunch but what made it was our host Niall! He couldn't do enough to make us feel more special and welcome. He went above and beyond everything and it just made a good time an amazing one!
W. N.
These guys serve up a good brunch with an Asian fusion twist. We had the Asian style sticky pork belly with poached eggs on waffles which was very tasty. We washed it down with an espresso which was a very solid coffee. Looking forward to popping back for dinner to see how their fare is, but I expect it should be imaginative based on the breakfast...
A. G.
Interior is really nice and the staff really know their stuff. Awesome selection of drinks, food is pretty average though.
A. P.
Great staff, lively atmosphere, even on a Tuesday way evening. London prices with £4.50 a pint "craft" draft lager. Asian inspired menu between Thai, Chinese and tapas. Worth a visit if you're nearby.
S. S.
Lovely place and delicious lunch break here! Try the Jasmine Green tea! Top choice!
V. “.
Wow I can't believe my pics have been viewed over a million times on Google of your bar /restaurant can't wait to visit again in April. 🙌🏾💯
P. S.
Fabulous menu and tasted wonderful. Attentive waitress service. Only disappointment was a chilled draught emanating from the entrance and toilets were freezing!

Had to visit manchester in a day trip and decided to pop in here for some sushi and a cocktail, the presentation of the sushi was amazing and the tuna sashimi was fresh and very tasty, the drinks were also
Amazing, if I ever need to visit manchester again, this is the first place I’d visit for lunch or dinner
J. R.
7 of us had the set menu for Sunday lunch, it was amazing!!! The food just kept on coming, really yummy & great value for money! The staff were really friendly & attentive! I'd highly recommend it!!!xx
J. D.
I sat at the bar and had a lovely time. Staff were knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. The food was delicate, full of flavour and exactly hit the spot. Good drinks too.
R. S.
Flavoursome food. Good relaxed informed service and amazing cocktails. What not to adore!
K. T.
I went here to try out the Vegan menu and I wasn't very impressed. I pretty tried all of it but going the day after as well and the streamed buns with pulled jackfruit was my favourite. The only criticism I would have would be the lack of vegan desserts, that would be amazing if there where a few options! But overall loved it.
C. H.
Nice venue, only had drinks here, kinda of expensive for location & standard drinks double rum & double gin was £16, definitely must nicer venues if prepared to pay that price. I can't comment on the food as I didn't try any, but what I did see looked fabulously presented. I went on a Monday and there was a nice crowd of ppl, so the atmosphere was nice.
a. o.
I love cottonopolis, great atmosphere, wouldn’t eat here too late on the weekend though. Nice cocktails. Did the all you can eat buffet thing and it was probably too much / less quality of food compared to normal menu, but expected with the price really! Always bring friends, great serving staff too
A. B.
Some of the best food we have ever eaten. Great service and an amazing atmosphere. Well worth a visit for the pork buns alone!
A. J.
Amazingly creative selection of meals! If you're looking for something a bit different, I'd highly recommend this place. The staff are very friendly and welcoming to boot! Pictured is the duck breakfast - duck sausages, duck bacon and duck egg. It was absolutely divine!
K. W.
Modern Japanese fusion cuisine. Always something different on the menu.
Recommended booking in advance as it fills up quickly.
S. F.
Food was absolutely delicious, we got 4 dishes and 2 sides between 2 of us and that was plenty. The cocktails were also very good and really unique. The service was great, with the staff being very friendly and happy to help. Definitely …
C. M.
Brilliant atmosphere, thank you to the guy who found us a makeshift able for 8 of us! Had a great time!
J. M.
Great place for both food and drinks, they had a great selection, we were there in a group for the bottomless brunch and we all thought the food was great. Really lovely staff, cook decor, great atmosphere, and not too expensive for the NQ. Defo recommended!!
M. J. G.
One of the most amazing bars / restaurants in Manchester ! Super Staff Super Drinks Super Food !
S. W.
Second time eating here, absolutely loved it. Salt and pepper squid is incredible, and the whiskey+walnut cocktail is well worth a try
D. W.
I really want to give Cottonopolis 5 stars, because the food is absolutely sensational!
I just really wish I could see the food! (Much too dark and noisy.)
p. r.
Food was great. Staff are good. Price was fair. Its a nice place but a little loud when your catching up with friends and wanting to chat around the table.
N. P.
Tasty and light cocktails paired with groovy music mixed live on a Saturday evening.
K. J.
Jack was so lovely and always kept us full on drinks!! 10/0
J. H.
Great place, great food, good range of drinks, friendly staff. For me, I didnt need a DJ on, a saxaphone and bongos at lunch time, all seemed to be playing something different. We left after the food.
J. S.
Concept is brilliant but food isn't great & majority of it cold..staff super low & don't even seem bothered, waited for 35 mins before I had to ask for our drinks order to be taken.
Shame really as we were really looking forward to it. Won't come again unfortunately.
C. T.
We enjoyed the atmosphere and the time spent dining at this restaurant. The food art was beautiful. We genuinely enjoyed our time there. Thank you.
P. B.
Dog friendly.
Class joint in the Northern Quarter of town. Always pretty busy so might be worth booking in advance.
Japanese style food looks awesome and will need to return to sample soon.
Good selection of drinks, been here twice for the last drink of the night, highly recommended for a drink before heading home.
L. D. M.
Food was delicious and loved the vibe. The music on our occasion wasn't loud, it was just right.
D.
One of the highlights of Manchester. Fantastic atmosphere, great service from friendly and attentive staff, and the food and cocktails could not have been better. Well worth a visit.
a.
The fantastic decor, ambience and friendly staff made the dinning experience extremely satisfifing. We visited Sunday evening and experienced the YUM CHA menu. The pork dumplings were to die for, along with all sushi offerings. The only things we didn't enjoy were some of their vegetarian offerings and the sauce drizzled on their crispy squid. I would highly recommend this menu as it was a fantastic and enjoyable experience. We will definitely being visiting again, to sample their other menus. Thank you for the fab night.

Food amazing, service amazing, can't wait for a return visit.

The brunch was delicious. Sampled a bit of everything and found the brisket benny was amazing

One of the most amazing bars / restaurants in Manchester ! Super Staff Super Drinks Super Food !
E. D.
Cottonopolis has such a cool vibe! We’ve visited many times, often for drinks and occasionally had food, too. Our favourite is the Yum Cha on Sunday’s, an all you can eat buffet of oriental delights.
The staff are super friendly and the cocktails are divine. I love the industrial feel throughout the building. Can’t wait to go back!
S. W.
Second time eating here, absolutely loved it. Salt and pepper squid is incredible, and the whiskey+walnut cocktail is well worth a try
D. K.
Great place for drinks in NQ - if a little expensive (beer is £5 a pint)
Bottomless brunch is very popular too!
T. H. C.
Stunning food, attentive staff and relaxed atmosphere. One of my fave spots in Manchester.
J. G.
Great staff - relaxed, friendly and still professional. Comfortable seating, interesting visuals, good space and cool building. Easy to get to, nearby parking, enough of a buzz in atmosphere to feel good, but although the music was clear, conversation was easy. Now to the main reason for being there...food was pretty good, some great. Good and interesting variety. Great bar.
d. l.
Great atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff. Amazing food. Got to go back!
C. G.
Fantastic bar and restaurant.
The restaurant serves what can best be described as Japanese Tapas and Sushi. Each dish is small but packed full of flavour. Great for sharing a sampling lots of different items from the menu.
The bar serves great cocktails and is lively and friendly.
It's also dog friendly and serves a phenomenal Sunday brunch and Sunday Lunch.
A. B.
Some of the best food we have ever eaten. Great service and an amazing atmosphere. Well worth a visit for the pork buns alone!
D. W.
great late night service, perfect for after a night out, friendly staff

High end food all day long with nice cocktails!

Food was amazing waitress was really good would recommend

I really want to give Cottonopolis 5 stars, because the food is absolutely sensational! …
K. M.
Great food, great music, friendly staff. Will be back.
k. g.
We ate at Cottonopolis on May 17th just after venues reopened and could allow customers to eat indoors. We found the staff to be really friendly and the food to be extremely tasty and well presented, however, when we got home and looked at the bill we found that we had been charged an extra £4 or £5 on almost half the dishes we’d ordered. Any comment Cottonopolis?
K.
Good ambiance, reasonable price for drinks but food is overpriced and the portions are small therefore more dishes are required (the waitress recommended 3-4 dishes per person). Might visit again for drinks but not for food
K. F.
What can I say, AMAZING, had a fantastic time for Brunch on Bank Holiday Friday. Staff were brilliant, music was at the right volume to enjoy but not overshadow the chatting. Decor is lush but the food was even better!!! So would come again and I have also been here for evening meals and that was amazing too!!! A must place to come! Oh and final thing about the Bottomless Brunch was never without a drink which is exactly what you want.
L. H.
This place is always on form, we have never left disappointed and have stopped going to some really excellent places because.. why have silver when you can have gold! Vegetarians are so well catered, and the staff are a delight.Arriving here I didn't have much confidence to he honest. It has a broken sign above the window and the decor isn't as good as many others in town. However I was greatly surprised.
C. r.
The food, drink and atmosphere here are all great, the Japanese inspired food menu with the huge range of sake is only offset by the lack of Japanese beers. The bar it self has a great yet quirky atmosphere with lots of space. The staff are friendly and the service is quick.
R. M.
Absolutely amazing last minute booking at Cottonopolis! The food is so fresh and the choice is huge. I'd definitely suggest getting some of the dim sum and boa buns! They serve Big Wave one of my favourite beers too. Great service and will be returning!
B. C.
Great cocktails and atmosphere. Always good to start off a Saturday drinking session
T. W.
Love it here. Top class food, brilliant and friendly service. The bar staff know their stuff. Good selection of whiskeys, brilliant music. A lot of thought and detail has gone into the decoration of the place with the history of the city of Manchester in mind and yet modern. This place is a must.
A. C.
Food was sooo tasty & great atmosphere! A good range of vegan options & separate vegan menu.
S. L.
Great format, oriental tapas. Great menu with lots of little gems, including vegetarian. Good modern vibe with Big bar and plenty of buzz. Open kitchen gives confidence of what’s cooking.
Strongly recommend you order 3 or four dishes per person. The real surprise was the four puddings. Really excellent.
T. W.
Expensive for the size of the drinks you get but the alcohol content is decent. Probably not a place I'd visit often really.
B. B.
Dropped by here while in Manchester and got a breakfast sandwich. It was absolutely delicious. The staff were excellent, friendly, and overall cool people. Didn't get the change to try their trademark Toasties, so I will absolutely stop back next time I'm in the UK.
A. j.
Great place nice people humble atmosphere depends on the way you see things superb
D. S.
Great Japanese style food, industrial looking place, friendly staff
R. W.
Amazing food. Fantastic beers and spirits. The food selection is amazing. From sushi and sashimi through salt and pepper squid to buns and dumplings. Everything tasted Amazing. Portions are smallish but very reasonably priced. We had 6 dishes between the two of us and we're satisfied. At £70 including drinks I couldn't give the place a higher rating. Pictured is the black bream, prepared in bitsize breaded pieces.
G. S.
Nice atmosphere and friendly service. The food was described to us as 'Japanese style tapas' i.e. small plates, they were small but 2 each with some snacks was plenty. Some of the dishes suffered a bit from some unbalanced flavours (sauces over powering the main element). A little on the pricy side
L. R.
Fantastic cocktails, great food and a bottomless brunch you won't forget. Busy and vibrant atmosphere with cool interiors and later in the evenings a DJ. Great place to catch up with friends or for a bite to eat
A. W. #.
Came here for drinks with ex colleagues and the atmosphere is amazing. The menu looked really tempting but we had an early night so missed on it. The place is spacious and warm with nice decor and very friendly staff. The only downside was the table being extremely sticky.
S. D.
A really hip Japanese style restaurant. Food was fresh and fantastic. Went in for a quick lunch. Service was prompt and food came quickly. Will definitely be back in again. I had the pork skewers and roasted pumpkin and it was a great portion size for the price. I couldn’t finish it all.
T. D.
Loved the food selection, a pan Asian tapas sort of idea. Each dish was amazing. Drink selection was good, we got clwb Tropicana, Tiny rebel on tap.
Only slight issue was it was quite pricey! Not good for a casual lunch but ideal for a nice dinner.
J. M.
Can tell the staff know their stuff and give great service. Great beer.
J. C.
Great food, service, and ambiance.
A. W.
Been a few times staff have been outstanding and the food it unreal. Can't fault it
B. M.
Went for bottomless brunch, they were a bit tardy with the refills on the bottomless option but the steak and eggs was really great. Very tasty steak and perfectly cooked too. I don't know what they did to the eggs but they were fantastic (I assume it was cooking them in loads of fat, since fat is delicious).
M. L.
Partner and I came for Yum Cha, where you get 4 savoury rounds (3-4 dishes per round) and 1 dessert round (3 mini desserts).
Like some previous reviews have mentioned, the advertising is a bit misleading: you don't get unlimited dim sum and you don't get to pick what you want from the trolley. It's more like a set menu where every table is served the same selection of dishes and you might get offered extra dishes once the server has been round the room.
The food was really good but there wasn't much choice for pescetarians/veggies/vegans. My partner had lots of meat options (pork gyoza, chicken bao, duck spring rolls, beef skewers) whereas the veggie options were limited (mushroom gyoza, veggie tempura skewer, cucumber salad). My partner ended up eating most of the food. I did tell the server that I'm a pescetarian and they brought out some alternative dishes out (tofu bao, aubergine katsu) but these came out a lot later. I wouldn't recommend the Yum Cha if you're not a meat eater as it's quite poor value for money.
I'm usually a big fan of Cottonopolis' food so not trying to hate on them, I was just a bit disappointed by the Yum Cha as a non-meat eater and wanted to provide some feedback.
J. C.
Lovely food, great atmosphere
P. W.
What can i say about this place food another level staff out of this world, cocktails omds the best bloody mary ive had not made by me, and guess what they sell wray and nephew love the place i live in town so it is my new local trust me
N. S.
Nice spacious bar in a trendy part of town. I love the huge tanks of Krusovice on display above the bar. They give the place a real differential to many of the nearby rivals. Can be difficult to get a table here as a walk-in though reservations can be made in advance. I've only ever had snack food so can't comment on the meals in the restaurant. Great place to incorporate on a bar crawl though!
C. M.
Brilliant atmosphere, thank you to the guy who found us a makeshift able for 8 of us! Had a great time!
R. D.
Fantastic food - sashimi grade fish and other delicious dishes prepared in modern ways. Great ambiance and lighting too. Will definitely go back the next time I’m in Manchester!
K. P.
The food isn't great and the service was poor. It may have been busy but being g nice doesn't mean it'll take longer to serve someone, it common courtesy really. Originally had 2 stars but thinking back the drinks were good to be fair and the prices aren't bad for Manchester so I gave it an extra star. Maybe one day I'll go back and when it's quiet and it'll be better.
j. J.
very nice decor/good staff/ drink prices high/great Japanese food too... smells lovely. very big space.. good for small intimate groups and dates/couples. not good for: solo travellers (you won't meet anyone here for a banter at the bar), chavvy people, on a budget.
p. c.
We had a large table booked for a friends birthday. Food was pretty good, but on a Saturday night the music was pretty loud (to have a sit down meal). Horses for courses, I suppose. The place was pretty busy and required me fighting my way through to go to the loo. I suspect I'd prefer the place during the day.
C. E.
Very mediocre and overpriced food. Had heard ravings about the cocktails, but they weren't that nice either. Everyone raves about this place but I guess it's not for me! Our waitress was lovely though. She earned the 3rd star otherwise this would've been a 2 star review.
M. F.
The food is really fantastic - although pricey, however there is no doubt that it is worth it. It's difficult to get a table at the weekends so you will have to book, but during the week you can probably just walk in.
The staff are really helpful and will explain all the menu choices to you - it feels as if they really enjoy working there.
The menu consists of four different 'zones' with a different chef for each zone - its tapas style small plates and the food is brought out as it is prepared which makes the whole experience really social as you can chat with your friends as the food appears.
N. J. S.
Great place for a pint or two and a nice selection of food on offer (although I haven't tried it myself).
Really nice array of drinks on offer in a relaxed and trendy atmosphere. Staff were really friendly and knowledgeable about the drinks. They're so dog friendly which is a bonus!
K. c.
nipped in twice on our way back to the hotel. it was late only had cocktails and and a dance . nice chilled place . good music
p.
Nice staff, but they have no wine! Chardonnay NO, Pinot Grigio NO. So I paid £17 for two drinks (yes just two) I didn't really want. I won't be going back in a hurry. To have stocks of popular wine is a basic requirement, but also at that price it's too rich for this northerner.
K. M.
Good food .. however, could not understand the need for a DJ . Could not hear each other speak .. it was like being in a night club . I don't mind loud music but not when I'm sat with a group of friends I haven't seen for a while who wanted to chat and catch up. Would of chosen somewhere else if we were aware. Been before and no loud music so a bit disappointed.food and service was good though .
J. P.
Although this place is a bit too dimly lit, the food and drink is great. I had the pork buns the last time I went and thoroughly enjoyed myself - even with the portions being a little small!
Y. Q.
Great atmosphere and nice cocktails. Keen to go back and try out the food !!
K. M.
Great food. “Trendy”. Caters well for vegans and vegetarians. Menu print is tiny with no alternative for people who may need a larger font. Friendly staff. Very crowded and loud. Difficult to give/take food and drink orders. Nearly impossible to have a conversation across the table.
m. c.
Secret supper needs to have a couple of options a lot of fixed fish dishes not good if you don't like fish. But did accommodate my wife being a vegetarian. Evening was fun and food was a good quality.
A. E.
Tasty food, excellent presentation, but too dark place that you can hardly see your food.
J. D.
Updated Review: I do really like this place, especially the ambience (between Tue - Thu) but have some feedback for the management - not for the staff (who were really great on all occasions).
We visited recently again as a party and also wanted the Wagyu sirloin along other items. We were firstly told that despite the menu showing a cost of £13 per 100g, the only cuts available were 390 grams and 440 grams or so. This meant that two of us had to order the stead due to larger than life portions that were available.
If that wasn't already a bit of a red herring, when the steaks arrived, they were cut into thickish strips of around 10-12 cm pieces which were too big to eat with just a pair of chopsticks.
Also, I am sorry to say, but disappointingly the Wagyu sirloin was not very nice at all. As a normal non-Wagyu steak it would just about have been ok-ish. It was chewy and tough. I have had Wagyu beef often and know the difference, but if that is not sufficient to prove that it was not really Wagyu (other than a rejected cut), then the others on the table also didn't enjoy it.
I did tell the waitress who was really lovely and she even offered us free drinks, but I told her that I didn't feed back this information for a freeby.
Nevertheless, she knocked off £11 off the bill (as well as adding on a service charge ! - something I am phobic to when they are added on without the diner being able to decide).
At the end of the day, it is really difficult to get a nice tasty pieced of steak and I just wanted a nice steak that was a good Wagyu cut.
Finally, we were given a nice table for two hours (8.30 pm - 10.30 pm and when we arrived it was freed up late), and one hour in to our meal, lots of youngsters sat at the booth next to us and started to push into our booth and take over and sit on our coats. Not wanting to cause a fuss and after the slight culinary fiasco, we decided to move onto another venue for more drinks.
I just felt really disillusioned at a venue that I really like.
Older Review: Very nice sophisticated pubby place with really nice fusion food. Nice barman who gave us tasters and attentive manager. A bit dear but definitely worth it.
G. W.
A great place. The atmosphere is excellent, there are numerous comfortable places to sit and relax and the music is great. They sell fabulous cocktails and good beer. I found the service to be fast and the staff are pretty friendly. The place is clean and well maintained.
B. J.
This again fusion restaurant is tucked away between Piccadilly Station and Northern Quarter. The impressive menu boats such items as shrimp bao, gyoza and nori ‘tacos’, the latter two of which are vegan-friendly. The vegan/vegetarian items are mixed in with the other items on the menu, but you can ask for a menu that just includes these items. The atmosphere is buzzing and vibrant, partly because of the DJ playing while you eat. This does make it somewhat more difficult to talk, but that is t a huge issue. Though the food was delicious, the portions are very small and not cheap. The waiters suggest you order at least two plates each, similar to tapas, but the price is disproportionate to tapas, and the cocktails, beautifully presented, are also rather expensive. I guess that’s only to be expected in a city though.
M. B.
Always amazing. Cocktails, service, food and atmosphere. Is it cheap. No. And there's a reason. Maybe avoid Saturday nights if you want an intimate meal. Mid week always fun.
O. K.
Got there early on Friday at around 5pm looking for food and beer. The decor was shiny and cool and the girl to guy ratio was good. The place had most seats taken already and the rest were reserved. Rocked up to the bar and found that even though there were around 4 people behind the bar, only two were serving. Was waiting for about 5 mins...one bar man did eventually bother to look up, then he went and served the pretty blonde who had been waiting there for 10 secs. -1 for bar service. Eventually, a bar man did serve us. The Craft Lager was crisp and tasty. Found a table that was reserved only from 630pm so we sat and ordered some rib eye steak and rice. Steak was as it said on the menu... Charred. The flavour should have tasted like steak... Tasted burnt. -1 food. -1 food price/portion. Tables were cleared quickly and table service was excellent. +1 table service! Toilet facilities... Adequate.
On the whole, would I go back? Yes but only for drinking and the table service.
C. C.
This is a really laid back and casual establishment with awesome decor that incorporates the buildings past in its design. It used to be a cotton mill but now is a beautiful gem with great food and music usually played by a DJ on decks. They have a healthy choice of meals and drinks served by the most chill of hosts.
P. T.
Great place and perfect for both a drink after work as well as nice dinner and after dinner dance. The only thing they struggle with is the smell of food coming from the kitchen which, if you are there just for a quick drink before dinner or going somewhere else, makes you smell bad all evening
D. J.
Loved the food. Fantastic service from Tilly.
K. S.
The food here is fantastic! Tapas style sushi with alot of variation and different options compared with a standard sushi restaurant. However the casual atmosphere dident quite match the price of the place and when the bill came 2 items on the bill we hasent ordered wich I found offensive considering how much your already paying. I would recommend for people looking for casual dinning and who have a Sharpe eye when it comes to the bill.
A. M.
Very fancy food, good atmosphere and a creative vegan menu. Would be nice to have a vegan 'full english' option for brunch. The oat milk cappuccino was fantastic.
j. h.
A nice comfortable place with decent food. There was a strong smell of fried food however which for me spoiled the atmosphere. The cocktails were ok but rather overpriced and the waiter was trying to upsell - I would buy the basic ones next time as the fancier ones were not good value.
s. c.
Was quite nervous about eating out for the first time since Covid 19, my daughter called ahead to check arrangements and we decided to take the chance. Staff, service, social distancing and the food all excellent.
P. W.
Have been several times and it is always absolutely delicious. Oriental inspired tapas basically.
Pros: Cool interior and overall vibe
large variety of menu items
Cons: pricey (need 2-3 plates per person to be full)
R. B.
Decor is fantastic and good vibes. Food is good too. Bit on the pricey side. Some staff are great and some are not. overall you could have a good evening in Manchester in the weekend here.
T. W.
Visited as a group of 10 for brunch on Sunday. The service was spot-on! Started to take coffee and tea orders as our group was arriving separately which was a really nice touch.
Everyone loved the food and I had avo on sourdough with poached eggs. The eggs were perfect, the avo had a wonderfully smokey flavour and the fresh chillis were a great addition. I loved getting a proper ‘steak’ knife to use to tackle the sourdough. The vegan option replaced the eggs with hash browns, rather than simply taking the eggs away.
A few of us opted for bottomless drinks which were kept up topped at all times, we didn’t have to ask ourselves for a top-up once!
Above all, it’s refreshing to eat and drink somewhere that values their supply chain so highly, and who makes ethical decisions for the products they buy.
I will be back!
M. G.
Excellent bar with very friendly staff the Japanese menu is a delight. An excellent place to start or finish your night. One of my favourite places to drink in Manchester.
S. W.
Great brunch spot with unique and original menu. Definitely go here for a change from the usual avo toast and eggs benedict #snore. Dishes are very rich so some more vegetable options would be good ;)
M. P.
Nice ambience, amazing stuff, amazing customer service. Good food and drinks as well. Highly recommend.
N. B.
We like to come at least twice a month. The music, what can I say the best in hip hop. Best bar in Manchester, stylish and very clean. Plantation rum , cassis great vibe what more could you ask for on a Monday in Manchester.
J. S.
Awesome atmosphere!! Great food!! Fantastic service!!
L. 2.
Never earing here only been on nights out but its great. Lot of interesting characters and the location is good too.
C. C.
I wasn't sure what cocktail to have as I like gin martinis but not many people can mix them well in my opinion. A young bar man with a back to front cap made my a lovely gin martini and I was so pleased! Defo some skills there and the atmosphere was great!
J. C.
Love this place, food is superb and atmosphere is great, although I agree with a previous review that the music is perhaps a tad too loud, you can’t hear each other talk when having a meal. It’s ok later on though when your in the swing of the night.
J. L.
This is the second time we've been here for food and it's been really great. We loved the beef tataki and the tuna tartare. While the KFC bao was delicious, we were a bit disappointed that the mushroom bao wasn't on the menu anymore as the truffle mayonnaise was to die for! As dessert, we had the yuzu cheesecake which didn't disappoint. It has good ambience but the music is a touch loud if you're wanting a quiet evening. The staff are really friendly and helpful.
All in all, we'll definitely be back.
O.
Lovely food with good music, nice ambience, be careful you don't order too much food.
J.
Very nice little gem. Just outside st Peter place, and great place to meet up with you friends and enjoy some classic exclusive drinks. It's great in the summer and winter.
N. M.
Love the industrial chic warehouse interior and great asian small plates food and sushi. Didn't try the cocktails but they looked good and well presented. Good service from friendly staff.
C. M.
Wasn't a fan of the cocktails on offer and the one we did get was undrinkable but the food menu looked nice. Nice building.
M. G.
Really lovely and knowledgeable staff here, with a good selection of drinks. It's a stylish place, and a big ol' room with DJs at the weekend. There's some impressive food on the menu too. Great for a date night in the week.
D. L.
Service was excellent, great tasting food and ambiance. I'd get the cauliflower any day.
K. C.
Had a birthday lunch here with my friend, the food was absolutely lovely as were the staff, they accommodated even though we hadn’t booked and it was very busy. The cocktails are amazing too
C. J.
Fantastic service, and genuinely one of the best brunch dishes I've ever had. Will definitely be returning.
I. P.
Loved every single thing I ordered, great staff, interior really stylish
A. J.
Stayed for drinks. Lovely place to be. Menu looks great
C. M.
Had a great evening here with a cool vibe, great cocktails and amazing Asian fusion food. Good especially hit the spot with really great flavors, will definitely be back!
J. S.
Fantastic place, really enjoyed ourselves. The staff were very friendly and helpful, big smiles and appeared happy to see us. Will be going back soon once the lockdown is over.
R. D.
Come on guys, prices you charge, surely you could afford to put the heating on.
J. 1.
Great food and service, would be helpful for the drink service to be a bit more prompt for bottomless brunch when you can't order more than 1 at once for the price
C. W.
Open kitchen and smell of food off putting.
Beer range good and plenty of choice of spirits.
Was in on an Tuesday afternoon and it was empty so limited atmosphere.
Maybe better on an evening.
L. T. B.
Great tasting, fresh food. They also had a wide variety of beers to choose from. It’s not cheap but it’s definitely worth the price.
M. W.
Truly unique cocktails and a wonderful attention to detail across all their offerings. The Manchester Made was a delightful drink and their small plates were excellent.
R. a. G. M.
Amazing as always! This building used to be a mill during the Industrial revolution. Friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
A. K.
Amazing bar with stunning food, often not too busy during peak hours and a must visit for anyone new to the town or visiting. Reasonably price food and friendly staff.
n. f.
Great cocktails amazing ambience
A. S.
Cottonopolis is a very cozy place, with a nice variety of options to choose from the menus. The service is fast, the food quality is top, the atmosphere is low-lit which is very convenient for this kind of restau-bars and the prices are not expensive. 5/5.
K. M.
So awesome. We loved our brunch, and the place looks very unique. Staff were friendly and helpful Really worth the money you spend.

Both the food and drinks were fantastic and the staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. The decor was beautiful and was a lovely nod to Manchester's history.
J. H.
I was told it was a sushi bar. It far beyond met my expectations. The food is amazing even if you aren't a sushi fan, as I wasn't. I will repeating my £200+ bill soon!
d. h.
One of my favourite bars in Manchester, good selection of beers (Not the usual carling guiness etc) had a small bite to eat, spring rolls were immense going back for more soon
d. t.
Amazing. The edamame beans are a brilliant starter. The belly pork was cooked to perfection and the beers compliment the food. Great staff and great experience. Highly recommended.
J. M.
Very tasty Asian style tapas. Had three dishes and this was very filling. Good selection of beers to go with it. All and all a nice place to enjoy dinner
A.
The food was nice. Pork belly from the summer menu is a delight! Good DJ and friendly atmosphere. Quite pricey but worth it.
C. P.
Best sushi ever! Stylish surroundings, great staff and fine wine. What's not to like?
Ok update! Brunch is the BEST breakfast you will ever have! Thanks Keegan xxx
G.
Great food, more if a bar/club atmosphere than a restaurant atmosphere, but that may have been because we went on a Saturday evening
D. B.
I love your food. dessert were soo good
S. P.
Easily up there with Manchester's best restaurants. Food is exceptional and service really friendly. A great atmosphere and drinks list too, highly recommend.
G. H.
Quote nice place for a drink. The food I saw coming out looked very fancy. I'd love to try it some other time.
Some of the booths were quote far from tables, looks like that would be annoying when eating
N. P.
I love the way they layed out their menu and their food is delicious. I tried chicken and waffles for the first time here and it was mouthwatering. They also offer some of the best selections of panasian dishes for lunch. Highly recommended.
L. H.
Food and service are excellent, I would say it is better to go as a group of friends rather than on a date in the evening as we ended up shouting just to be able to hear each other. Would definitely come back when it's less busy
A. C.
Fantastic food, fantastic service, both the lady and the gentleman who served us were great, the singular reason it gets 4/5 was purely the layout, especially on a busy day, the bar gets busy and the tables are intermingled, the noise gets pretty loud. If they could split some of the layout, it would help.
L. R.
Came for bottomless brunch. The food was great. But Niall was the absolute best, I will come back again because of him.
H. H.
Nice place, nice interior and nice staff - very dog-friendly. Sadly, the, have somewhat higher prices and our two meals came far apart from each other. Would come back anyways!
K. S.
If you love Japanese food that's not just pricey for the sake of being Japanese, then this is the place. It's actually fantastic food here. I vouch for this restaurant as a born-n-bred Japanese foodie.
J. B.
We were there for lunch and had the veggie bento box. They were great - an imaginative take on Asian cuisine, well-presented, and a great value option for a lunch that's a bit special.
E. H.
Amazing food. Not the cheapest place to eat, but the quality made it worth the price. Has a good range of drinks as well
G. G.
Amazing food, amazing atmosphere. Nice prices. Definitely a place to visit. Special mention to the super friendly and great service staff, you rock!
D. H.
Only visited for a beer but loved it! Great decor, friendly staff and the food looked amazing. Can't wait to visit again.
G. M.
Met a friend for drinks at Cottonopolis. We ending up ordering food and it was incredible. I highly recommend the scallops! Some of the best I've ever had.
S. J.
A fabulous Japanese inspired menu , great atmosphere , great service and live DJ
R. C.
Great food, stylish surroundings and great drinks selection
P. T.
Impulse visit but pleasantly surprised by the decor, choice of Japanese styled food and Japanese gins. Introduction to shosi too. Only loses a star because of the smell of frying
R. T. (.
Can be busy and difficult to get to the bar at times because they have lined the bar with seats, effectively closing off areas to get served. Prices aren't too bad.
A. J.
Great food. Service is rather good or moderate at times. Missing items on menus each visit. Atomosphere is top.. especially when live music/DJ.
N. S.
Fantastic decor, brilliant cocktail menu and a great selection of ales/beers. Food is amazing but a bit expensive for what you get in terms of portions
P. C.
Wagyu Brisket Baos should be part of every diet. Unique food, great beer and excellent service. I’ve not had better Asian cuisine in the city.
P. D.
Excellent atmosphere and the food was delicious, staff were lovely.
Will definitely return.
S. B.
Amazing food wonderful staff went for a birthday meal on a Saturday night and there were a lot of us, it was loud so that meant we couldn't really have a conversation I imagine it's a great place for lunch though
J. 9.
Had brunch here on Sunday. Food was great, something different. Staff were great (despite other reviews).
H. “. W.
Lovely interior, lovely staff, great selection of liquor and great beers/IPA's on tap. A little pricey but generally think it's worth it.
J. C.
Utterly spectacular. The best sushi I've had in a very long time, superb service, great atmosphere, beautifully crafted drinks.
T. H.
Great atmosphere and great food. Interesting cocktail menu - wish I had time to try more!
m. B.
Amazing food! Loved it
R. J.
Great food and large selection of gin.
M. Q.
I have been there for lunch and it is quite good. They do not have much options but it was a good value for the money. It is a very cool.fancy place and it can get very busy on weekends.
G. H.
It wasn't clear upon first arrival that this is a table service venue. The service was quite slow. The drinks were good, as was the food. I'd return, but it wouldn't be my first choice of an evening.
A. L.
Good asian fusion style food to share. We got good recommendations from the staff on what to order. It got a bit loud when the restaurant got full.
A. P.
Superb modern Japanese food! Not sure about the raw yolk on the tuna tartare but nonetheless very very enjoyable. Can’t wait to go back.
C. L.
The food was superb! Service was so-so
H.
Staff are amazing, vibe is nice, but it's soooo expensive for food and drinks
N. R.
Great food, great drinks. Chilled out scenes with a great lunch/ main menu. The katsu is unreal.
G. E.
Old style lighting made for a nice atmosphere which was destroyed by the barmaid who after taking my order and then my money for a pint of shipyard (on tap) didn't speak, make eye contact or acknowledge my existence. I don't care if you fancy me (which you inevitably do but are frustrated that I am so far out of your league that we aren't even playing the same sport) I just want a nod, a smile or even an uncomfortable glance would have shown me that I made an impact or registered on your 'service radar' . The next time I go in I might throw 6 quids worth of change at the shipyard pump and shout 'thanks and keep the change' repeatedly until something happens. Impact.
G. R.
Nice place for drinks. Good tank beer and has a cool looking interior. Friendly staff.
J. H.
Great atmosphere great drinks although the staff made me feel very uncomfortable as they watched me all night like I was a nuisance
B. H.
Good staff, good vibes. Huge props to Darcy for keeping us well hydrated during our bottomless brunch 💫
L. R.
Amazing food and staff. The whole of the dim sum menu experience was really excellent.
C. C.
Rump roast and vegetables was delicious and very good!
They do Big Wave craft beer on tap!
D. S.
Good food and good environment. The only problem I detected was seating for larger groups. But 4 or 5 you got the full experience
A. L.
Great food and variety, good atmosphere and adaptation for covid. One forgotten dish but the rest made up for it.
L. W.
Lovely bar with great drinks & food. Not a cheap place to drink, but if it's a trendy place you're after with a NQ twist then this is the one
D. S.
Love the interior in here. Really stylish and a bit different from the usual Northern Quarter bars. An interesting cocktail selection with a Japanese twist.
M. O.
Very nice atmosphere, great music, food portions a bit on the small side & not very filling but tasted good!
T. H.
Nice place for drinks or food With friends but at 6pm it all smelled fried food. Was there for one hour and all my clothes and hair smelled like that as well.
C. R.
Too loud for a food place, not very social. Food ok but nothing special.
L. B.
Tried a couple of bars on this road and this place was nice but the drinks next door were cheaper and I actually preferred them
E. L.
Little gem, just went in on a whim and found the best gin and tonic. Very strange to say but I'm unsure what gin they used nor the additional fruit they added but it was great.
J. D.
Delicious Japanese food, great cocktails and great service. The only negative is the prawn gyoza were a bit overdone.
M. A.
Food is nice and prices are ok. Not a place to sit and relax with your meal more a lively bar style meal.
S. N.
Date night with the taster menus didn't fail to impress, had a friendly and attentive Geordie waiter that made it even better.
Z. P.
Great atmosphere with brilliant staff. Food blows a bit hot and cold, did not detract from a fabulous boozy lunch
T. F.
Great food and drinks selection. Fantastic atmosphere. Favourite bar in the NQ
L. B.
Good food I had a a shooter steak it came on a block of ice good drinks engaging staff...and with a sense of dread...a little bit over priced...but at the end of the day it's just a restaurant in the northern quarter.
D. C.
Really gorgeous food, especially the Wagyu Tartare, great funk/soul music and exceptional customer service. Total recommendation.
M. L.
Beer was good, food if you want a small fancy looking portion then it's okay. Not for me.
A. B.
Food was really good, nothing to say about this. But the service was really poor, we waited 25mins just get orders and the staff was not friendly at all ...
S. C.
There was a great range of cocktails and the bar had a very comfortable atmosphere, the music was a bit too loud at some points.
C. D.
We had 2 dishes per person, this was ok for an evening dinner in terms of quantity. Good quality, good service, great place.
T. F.
Me & the lady had an amazing evening with great food & music.
The atmosphere is so chill
E. H.
Great Japanese food, style and presentation very trendy and great bao buns. Service a little slow but generally good.
K. B.
Lovely bar, industrial styling, decent drinks selection. Great music on the saturday night we went on and pleasant bouncers too
r. w.
One of my favourite bars in Manchester. Gorgeous food, fab cocktails and great atmosphere
E. S.
Very specious and lovely place. Sunday 3pm We were 7 and We ordered coffee. The staff was rude (because we ordered coffee). Might going back.
K. W.
Good food and service spolit. Advertise as 50% off for NQ residents. They did not give this and expected us to pay in full. Feel properly conned.
s. c.
Just excellent. Service, vibe, beers on tap, food and presentation. Very enjoyable and very good food
T. R.
Has to be one of the must go places in Manchester for visitors to the city.
Great food - normally a good crowd and good vibe. Gem
E. S.
Best bento box around! Delicious food, great drinks, lovely staff. IMPECCABLE music selection. Will be back again soon.
N. C.
Fantastic Food, Fantastic Service, great atmosphere, a lovely Mother's Day treat, we'll definitely be back 👌
V. V. M.
Awesome Sunday Roast, with a subtle Asian influence. The best food we've had in all of Manchester.
R. M.
The food is great here! Such great asian tapas. The katsu chicken buns are amazing! Best bar in the NQ
L. B.
Lovely place but food portion size is quite small for the prices
G. P.
Brilliant as always. Good menu and excellent drink selection. Well worth a visit.
C. W.
Incredible food and great staff and atmosphere. Best brunch I've ever had.
R. S.
I think the food is a little overpriced but great cocktails and atmosphere inside.
J. H.
An incredibly stocked bar with a wonderful food menu to boot. Food was well presented and tasted delightful
L. B.
The food is good and always reasonably quick which means its great for lunches. Service can be a bit hit or miss though.
M. B.
When in Manchester I love this place as it lets me bring my dog & delivers amazing Japanese inspired great food. What's not to love!
G. R.
Good food, good service. Would definitely come back for round 2 although it's a little on the expensive side.

P. G.
Really yummy japanese inspired grub. Always beautifully presented. Very good cocktails available
T. L.
Fantastic Japanese influenced bar with a vibrant atmosphere but the service was still great for food!
J. W.
Great place but quite busy when we arrived at 6pm on a Sat. A lot of empty reserved tables but they all have a sign saying when they are reserved from, so you can use them till then
s. z.
i enjoyed the food really much
c. r.
All the dishes we had were faultless- go for it ! Great drinks too
M. P.
Nice place. Expensive but really good atmosphere. Bar service was usually quick and polite.

M. W.
Very nice food and service. Good ambience. The staff were very accommodating
S. K.
M'eh, another city centre bar / food place. Not bad at all, but also nothing special. Depends what you're looking for I guess!

My son took me for my birthday and it was fabulous...staff and food were 👍 👌
C. V. S.
Good ambiance. Service a bit slow and music a bit too loud for a conversation with friends. But the flavours are good
m. j.
Nice bar. Trendy crowd (or thinks it is). Expensive drinks and music too loud for the setting. Nice bar though.
W. S.
Excellent food and service. Wanted to try everything on the menu!

A. N.
Good food and polite staff
E. B.
Excellent bottomless brunch, delicious food, lots of drinks and friendly staff
P. R.
A great looking bar, with impeccable style, but the staff were not very helpful, often chatting whilst people were stood at the bar waiting, without even a cursory "we'll be with you in a second", which is a real shame.
S. D.
Great service, amazing food!
G. B.
Really smart bar, great ales and cocktails. Excellent sushi fusion food
s. N.
Food was amazing. Atmosphere on point.
