Reviews of Dishoom Manchester

Very lovely Indian place to eat. Plates ate preferably to share and they’re exceptionally well cooked, very tasty and lots of vegetarian choices. The staff were super friendly and explained some of the dishes for is which was great. A bit expensive but it’s very good quality. The building itself it’s just beautiful too.

Really really impressive! I found it a slight modern twist on a traditional curry style restaurant. The setting is amazing, the ambience is really chill, food was all great, good level of spice! Plenty of drinks and wine options, friendly staff and overall worth visiting! We’ll be back.
H. M.
Food is immaculately good. We enjoyed a three course meal at Dishoom. The variety of food is great for Vegetarian and Vegans too. The unlimited tea lasts until 5pm
Although, service is slow the food makes up for it. It was unbelievably hot on the day we visited, the air-conditioning was not on.

The best Indian restaurant I’ve tried in the UK so far. I am a foodie and I can definitely swear by this place. The ambience is lovely, customer service is 10/10.. and the food ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. The chef’s special biryani was top notch.
I met my best friend after 7.5 yrs and the server was so lovely and considerate - he actually served a complimentary cake and ice-cream to celebrate the occasion 🎉🎉🥳🥳
If you visit London or Manchester, please please try out this restaurant 😀😀

I've always struggled to book a table here and after visiting the other week I can see why! Absolutely fantastic visit! This large venue was packed even at 5.30pm when we went. The food is unbelievable and a good price too. The small plates are ace for sharing and trying different bits. The staff were friendly and efficient, they always kept checking we had everything we needed and topped up the water. I would definitely recommend to anyone. But make sure you get a booking in quick!

We had a wonderful lunch here, sharing a mix of dishes which went down well with all the family. The service was excellent and staff were attentive. Every dish had its own signature twist and we found ourselves discussing our favourites long after we had finished eating. We spent more than we normally would when eating out but the food and service was so good that it felt like a really worthwhile treat.

This review from a person who tried almost all restaurants in Manchester, and I can tell you with all confidence that this place is number 1!! All the food is great, everything full or flavour and so delicious. Not to mention that it’s Halal too for people who are looking for Halal restaurants in Manchester. The whole experience overall is amazing. Can’t recommend Dishoom enough. 💫
R. M.
A taste sensation!!! A group of 3 of us shared a selection of small plates. Every single one was beautiful. The lady who served us was extremely helpful, she talked us through the menu and made suggestions about the dishes. Definitely will be returning!

One of my favourite Indian restaurants in the U.K. an absolute treasure and the staff especially Anthony has always provided exceptional service. Delicious food and fantastic hospitality. I have dined here for both dinner and breakfast and the service as well as the food is top notch. Thank you Dishoom for being amazing.

The absolute best Indian Restaurant in the town.
I am short of words for the food and staff here.
Just brilliant food. Make sure to try the “Nalli Biryani” suggested by a Staff member. One of the best foods I have ever had.
Keep up the good works guys. You are absolute best in the town.

Excellent Indian restaurant. Full of character and atmosphere.
Set in what was a Masonic Hall. The food was excellent and the service very friendly and efficient.
We had a selection of dishes that we shared. The chicken Ruby Murray was very good.
Very popular and busy so booking is required.

This was the first time in Manchester Dishoom. We've been to London one and loved the experience. Here in Manchester, it was wonderful. Our host was Georgina and she was fantastic. Food was amazing and tasty. Even our 2 year old grandson was in his best behaviour. We will definitely be back to try other dishes from the menu.
D. S. S. P.
Pretty good.
Most of the brekkie stuff isn't authentic Indian.
I ordered the naan that had lots of stuffing. Was very tasty.

Have to book in advance.
Parking available on the road closeby.

Tbh I am not a big fan of Indian food. However, the food here is actually nice. The dishes are rich and tasty. The staffs are extremely friendly. I can’t believe that I only paid 15 pounds for two dishes but experienced such high standards of food and service. Also, I am not the type of person who would want to give comments on Google. But this restaurant deserves 5 stars!

I liked the food here.
A bit on the pricey side but the waiters were very helpful and kind. The food tasted good. The serving size was decent. I would come here again
C. B.
My first Dishoom experience having visited Manchester and I was pleasantly surprised. It lives up to its hype, the food is gorgeous and decent prices. Ambience also excellent. The grilled chicken thighs were perfect, as was the roti and house black dhal. Didn’t think much of the prawns but on the plus some excellent and creative desserts.
K. H.
Sublime building, food and service from staff, there are reasons this is a highly rated restaurant. Don’t expect your usual Englishified curries, this is so different and so good. Coriander as opposed to mint in a cocktail? It works! Dishes where you taste each different ingredient at separate times, exquisite and from chefs masters of their craft. Not cheap but soooooo worth it. Couldn’t fault
c. t.
As we entered the foyer, we were greeted and allocated a lovely table centrally in main restaurant with high ceilings and traditional etched glass privacy partitions positioned beautifully.
The menu was filled with wonderful delights to choose from and priced for the quality we received. Presented traditionally on steel platters with side plates if needed. It was a joy to eat susch amazing Indo-Persian food.
Highly recommended and we will be returning guests, thanks to the Manager and service staff for your wonderful engagement in describing the concept and history of this style of venue.
Kindest regards
Clive of Manchester

Amazing restaurant. They twisted recipes and created their own version. But everything I tried their was absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend this place & would go there again.
J. D.
An absolute gem. Had both breakfast and dinner on a recent trip to Manchester. We ordered a number of small plates including cocktails for dinner and would not hesitate to recommend every dish. For breakfast we had the bacon Nan and Dishooms own twist on a full English. The bacon Nan is a must and goes well accompanied by the delicious chai tea. We look forward to returning in the near future.

We came here for breakfast and it was just what I needed after a night out. I had the big breakfast and a cappuccino both were great. The breakfast was a good size and reasonably priced. The decor is nice, and the vibes were pretty relaxed. The service was fast and friendly.
C. Y.
Very nice Indian/Pakistanian restaurant. I have visited this place with my Pakistanian friend and literally she loved the food. The atmosphere is cosy. Darkish a bit like candle light vibe. Cool place though. Staff was really friendly. Nan a bit overpriced but overall food was amazing. And they are open until 11 pm so it may be a good option for late cravings
Y. C.
We have been to Dishoom for the fist time after trying it at home. Absolutely great choice for a meal out in the city. Offers a huge variety of options. We will be definitely be going back.
A must try if you find yourself in the city centre.
Heads up most probably there will ne a queue so maybe arrive slightly earlier 20-30 mins.
S. A.
I think everyone knows how good Dishoom is but just wanted to give a shout out to Adam in the Manchester branch for being an incredible host and really looking after us. The pancakes were a lovely gesture and made our day 😊
S. B.
This was another fantastic Dishoom restaurant and gave a brilliant breakfast on a Saturday morning. The welcome on arrival was fantastic and although a peak period for them were we sat on a large spacious table in the main dining area, which had loads of great pictures to admire and a brilliant atmosphere.
The food menu is as you’d expect from the chain but the dishes were served surprisingly fast but not scrimped on in terms of size or presentation. The keema per edu was perhaps the most flavoursome I’d had and had a great level of spice. The chai teas were kept topped up with no need to chase and all the waiting staff were on hand if ever you needed. Even the toilets downstairs are a delight and in total keeping with the rest of the restaurant.
A superbly run place and somewhere I’ll be returning to time and time again - highly recommended!
O. W.
First time visit - we went for Sunday breakfast. The place was already busy when we arrived before 10:00 - by contrast the rest of Manchester was really quiet - figured this was probably a good sign. Great selection of food and drink - I had the 'Big Bombay' which was delicious was unlimited top-ups on cups of chai. Service was really good - there were 17 of us split over two tables. We will definitely be making a return visit.
D. B.
What a wonderful place! Such a gorgeous building and the staff are all friendly attentive. The food came out quick and was delicious! This place is also family friendly
S.
Have wanted to try the real Dishoom experience ever since having one of their at-home menus delivered during Lockdown. Wasn't disappointed! Super-fast service, stunning food.
b. g.
The food was ok and the service excellent. We ordered the papads aka kichia and chundos ( was too oily - oil floating on them made me feel
I was eating oil) however the dips with them were good, the dishoom house chat was delicious. A good mix of spices and flavors, the grilled Prawns was salty and fishy - we ate them but I am not a fan of fishy tasting prawns ( If you know what I mean) . Finally the star of the evening was the jackfruit biriyani which was well done and the raita complemented it very well. I also ordered a kokum sherbet which was too sweet so I abandoned it. Very pricey for Manchester standards for sure, considering there are many restaurants which are more authentic in the area. I must say their service is fantastic!!
M. M.
Superb!!!! Excellent authentic Bombay Irani cafe feel with a contemporary twist. Terrific ambiance, mouth watering cuisine, topped up with fantastic customer service. By far one of the best Authentic Indian Restaurant chain in the UK!
I. S.
There is a spectacular atmosphere with incense burning and light jazzy music playing overhead.
The food was delicious - we ordered lots of different items from the menu to sample (some of which are pictured below). It was brought out quickly and was full of flavour!
The staff were also very friendly and professional.
M. S.
The food and vibe at Dishoom is consistently enjoyable. There could be times when dish is less perfect than a previous time. However, what makes a truly unforgettable experience is service. Alberto who served my family and I on this occasion went above and beyond the mark. He was polite, sweet and attentive. He made our evening. He is a credit to this branch of Dishoom. 10/10.
C. R.
I can't fault anything about our meal. You have got to have the Nalli Nihari Biryani (lamb shank in pastry). Make sure you try the Chicken Liver Raita that accompanies this dish, don't swap it for the usual Plain Raita, it's delicious! Even the service charge was worth it as the servers were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic experience!
A. A.
The CHEF’S MANCHESTER SPECIAL is a must and easily one of the best Biryanis that I’ve tried.
With that being said, there are few things to keep in mind before visiting. Its always better to make a reservation ahead although they accept walk ins but that line might take up to an hour and sometimes two.
Also, going there around 5 pm is challenging as they start cleaning and preparing for dinner reservations.
Overall, its a very pleasant experience and food to have and once again its a must for me whenever I be in Manchester.
a. s.
Very good experience. Despite the seating capacity, it is better to reserve much in advance if you are going in a group of 6 or more. Walk in will also be challenging with 30 to 50 mins waiting. However, it will be worth it due to its ambience, taste of food, and culture oriented cuisine. Service is prompt . Any Dishoom named dishes are worth trying.
F. N.
Poped in for something quick.. place was really nice.. reception and host were professional and well drilled in a nice way. Wanted something quick for breakfast but unfortunately due to my special diet I was unable to get anything to my taste from the menu. The staff were perfect and really did do their best to accommodate me while still being responsible about telling me how the food was made. I had ordered a green tea ar the very start which they provided to be free of charge because I was unable to find anything I liked. True hosts and they know the meaning of customer service. I would highly recommend this place, the menu did look fantastic and different to most. I look forward to popping back for lunch or dinner when I'm back in Manchester.
D. T.
What I have seen is the hype of this restaurant but food is very average. Good ambiance, well decorated old Indian style look-n-feel. Pictures Highly influential people from India. I feel they should a small booklet about the history of those influential people hanging on the wall. For startersWe order Chilli Chicken which actually looked like an over fired chicken spicy pieces, with no vegetables and chaat was ok full of some potato kind of material. Then we ordered some chicken curry and naan. Curry tastes more like Malai Kofta. You can go and enjoy some drinks too as the bar looked nice but we didn't try as it was lunch time. I took few pictures. Also took a picture of a staff member who was putting incense sticks to lord Ganesh.
H. B.
Faultless experience at Dishoom as always. I avoided the black daal this time (despite all the servers trying to force it upon you) so my meal was fabulous. The Chef’s special is different in each location which is a nice touch. Looking forward to my next trip already!
P. P.
One of the best indian food experiences I've had. The chilli chicken and the chicken curry were otherworldly. Perfectly spiced, accompanied with delicious chutneys, and great naan bread. World class experience with fantastic service as well.
H. A.
The food is of course good but the service is just impeccable, I cannot describe how impressed I am. That is the best restaurant service I’ve had in all of the UK, incredible!!!
D. R.
Great experience. A whole new way of eating a breakfast sandwich, cooked inside a fresh naan with chilli jam, cream cheese and fresh coriander! Lovely surroundings and great service. Highly recommend.
H. M.
The Indian in me was not very happy with the colorful biryani fusion taste, Otherwise good ambience and a good spot for hanging out and experiencing the Indian exotic cuisine. Hospitable and friendly staff.
K. R.
What an amazing meal we had, Our hostess was Brillant, she knew her menu by heart, she recommend us couple of dishes which were all succulent, we will be back again. All the best guys keep it up and kudos to the chefs and the rest of the team.
Best

Thinking about Indian cuisine . Oh sorry contemporary Irani cuisine The menu design of dishoom stands in first place when I though of having date in Manchester. Thank you Rafaella 😊 for the best service with love . I am impressed starts with the mojito I am a big fan of mojitos it got little sad with their mixing .. as a professional mixologist I prefer to have it little better the starter of the course is chilli chicken . I didn’t like it the recipe is perfect but the one who made this need to take care of balanced cooking . I love the biriyani I am getting the feel of my homemade Hyderabadi dhum kaccha ghost biriyani with nizami touch. I love to come here again for the biriyani and for the service.
M.
Good food and nice ambiance, however the service charge they add is not acceptable. Yes I know it’s not compulsory and you can ask to have it removed but we shouldn’t need to do that. The price of the food is on the high end so why add a service charge?
G. W.
Absolutely amazing!! Food was to die for and service was excellent! 10/10 will be going again
D. S.
Such friendly staff, excellent service and food was amazing!! Really enjoyed it, the ruby lived up to its reputation 👌
S. H.
Food was mediocre. If you are truly desi/brown the food is a bit overrated. Presentation and food was good but expensive. I’d rather go to a local spot!
L. U.
Met Amy at an event and persuaded me to try and I’m so pleased she did. The whole experience is excellent. Staff are welcoming, friendly, great service and very accommodating. The food was incredible. I didn’t get the idea of a Nan with breakfast but it’s the best breakfast I’ve had in a restaurant. The venue is gorgeous too, can’t fault it and highly recommend.
J. N.
You have no idea how many people I have already told to visit this place when they are next in Manchester!
Food was fantastic, service excellent and decor amazing: a brilliant night
T. D.
Well worth a visit. I really recommend doing for breakfast for the bacon naan roll. It's a great way to start the day.
Really friendly staff that are very welcoming and helpful. With asking for a recommendation as they really know what's good.
p. n.
Great dining! Staff was very attentive, and the food came out fast. They do advise that the food comes out as it is made, so do not expect it to have same pacing as a typical restaurant. I felt this added to the experience.
The food itself is a cut above. Indian cuisine made to a very high standard.
Two of our companions had dietary restriction (one vegan, one gluten free) they did an excellent job of working out their orders.
R. C.
Amazing food, service and a beautiful building - even the toilets are incredible. Worth every penny - one of the best breakfasts I've ever eaten.
Z. W.
Excellent food and ambience. It was a bit loud when we visited (4.30pm on Saturday). Everything was really delicious, I think we’ve tried majority of the veggie dishes available and all were great. Attentive service, our waitress made a lot good suggestions on what to order.
S. S.
Fantastic food every time. Friendly service and atmosphere. Favourite starter is the okra fries 😍
A. H. A. A.
Best Indian restaurant in the World.
Unbelievable food.
Highly recommended. 👍🏼😋

Fantastic breakfast, everyone really enjoyed in my family. The food and tea were especially delicious. Lovely ambience and customer service was truly amazing. Big shout out to Anthony, Gianmarco and Steven, thank you for looking after us and friendly welcome and service....Thanks
M. S. J.
Lovely food. Portions are just appropriate.
The kebabs was soft and melting in mouth.
Biryani was good but quantity was not great.
R. M.
We used our key ring for our first visit to Dishoom Manchester and got a free lunch!!!
As ever, the food and service were amazing, but the experience was not as good as the other Dishoom restaurants, hence the 3 stars.
All the Dishoom restaurants are busy in our experience, but we felt crammed in at Dishoom Manchester even though it is a huge restaurant. We were squeezed into a small corner with several other people, and it felt awkward. This maybe as a consequence of the pandemic, but we were at Dishoom Birmingham a few weeks ago and it was not claustrophobic, and I would say it was busier than Manchester.
I am not sure I would make an effort to return to Manchester Dishoom sadly.
A. '.
Ate at the Carnaby St, London recently and made sure to stop here to see if it was as good and it didn't disappoint. Everything from the decor, the food was just as delicious and fantastic customer service.
a. b.
We visited Dishoom on a very special Occasion of our life, 2nd marriage Anniversary it was and we are glad that we decided to go here.
It was just the day when the lockdown in London lifted and dinning was allowed.
The ambience is great , good positive vibes. All the staff was good and helpful they know the restaurant menu well.
They suggested us according to our Taste and to be Frank we were not expecting it be so delicious. We ordered Dishoom tikka kebab, Chicken Ruby & Garlic naan all was super tasty.
Atlast we finished with biryani which was tasty but can be improved.
Overall if you want to taste a very good non veg food then this is the place to go for no doubt. By the way they do have Vegan menu as well.
J. W.
A bit pricey but well worth the extra. Very tasty and top quality Indian food. The lamb samosas were the best I've ever tasted. Service was excellent too. If you like Indian food this place is a definite must visit.
B.
Visited Dishoom Manchester to try out their famous Nihari Biryani and boy was it a delight! The lamb shank inside the pastry coated biryani was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. The other item which also took me by surprise were the okra fries. A must get item if you’re to visit Dishoom. The only product which let me down were the chops because they were too chewy and overcooked and the chilli chicken was nice however it had very little chicken inside and was overfilled with masala. Other than that, service etc is very good and the staff were are friendly and welcoming!
S. P.
Absolutely gorgeous restaurant with historical features inside 😉 Quality of food and services match the highest standard of expectations! Wholeheartedly Recommended!
C. -.
The food is amazing. Comes fresh and hot. Hearty portions. Waiters and waitresses provide an excellent service. Not a bad thing i can about this place. Will definitely be going again. Has to be one of the best places to eat in Manchester!
m. t.
Our frequent place to dine-out and online order. My absolute favourite is their Daal Makhni and Vada Pao. Loved paneer tikka too. Can’t recommend enough ❤️
P. L.
I came here for a work breakfast. I didn't know this existed until then!
Walking in and its was easy to mistake this as a hotel with its reception area etc the boss had already booked so we went through.
It was very elegant inside and made me think of q gents smoking room or something. To start we had a chai tea which tasted delicious.
For mains a lot of it consisted of naan breaks or a belt busting full Indian breccy.. I opted for a chicken keema dish with liver, fried egg and two fresh breads.
The spices were absolutely bang on and everyone else's looked huge portion wise. I'm definitely intrigued to go back and try the dinner menu that's for sure. Service was so impeccable 👌 and I was full all day.
E. R.
Wow is all I can say. My partner and I got legally married the other day before our wedding next month. The ceremony was early so we wanted somewhere nice to celebrate over breakfast and a few drinks. Dishoom offer a range of vegan and non vegan breakfast options. ALL of the food was amazing. The staff even gifted us with a free bottle of processo to celebrate with. Everyone on the day really enjoyed the experience and we are already looking at coming back! Decor was cool as well and our server was really knowledgeable about all the old pictures on the wall when we asked. Couldn't recommend this place enough. Thank you for making our already special day even better!
R. P.
(Manchester) Amazing restaurant. Food is delicious. All the staff are super friendly and bubbly. Definitely worth every penny spent this evening. Our server (George) was very informative and friendly. We haven’t been before and he explained the menu and how the restaurant worked. Made our anniversary meal special :).
N. F.
I visited Dishoom with my husband on Saturday 9th July for our wedding anniversary. The food was amazing and a very beautiful place . The staff were very welcoming nothing too much trouble. The staff were very knowledgeable and helped us to choose our dishes. At the end of our meal we were brought a beautiful pudding to celebrate our special day. Truly lovely experience and will definitely be going again.
A. N.
Lovely food and really good service. Anthony was very attentive and even gave us a dessert on the house as, we were celebrating our wedding anniversary.
C. B.
My boss in the USA always visits Dishoom when she visits so I had high expectations! It was not a let down, I highly recommend and am keen to go visit the London branches!
L. M.
Our visit was a birthday treat for my partner from my son. He knows we'd appreciate the cuisine at Dishoom & letting him chose the dishes for us definitely surprised & delighted us both. Amazing food, genuine exceptional friendly service & even s birthday pudding with a HAPPY BIRTHDAY candle to complete a lovely night. Would definitely highly recommend.
P. H.
First visit to Dishoom, but having heard great things about the Covent Garden branch, expectations were high.
They didn't disappoint. The restaurant is very big, but divided into smaller areas which gives a more intimate feel. Rapid and attentive service brought some very tasty food which we hadn't tried before. We will definitely be returning.
D. K.
To be fair, I myself is not a big fan of Indian food but really liked the overall vibe & food here. The place was a bit noisy and too dark which did give a bit of a chaotic scenery & some of the menu were a bit too savoury. However nice service & reasonable price & nice food in general - surely adding value, still worth a visit I’d say!
M. R.
Second time visiting Dishoom. The service is great. We ordered Keema Pau and Dishoom House Chaat as starters. Then Chicken Ruby Murray with gunpowder potatoes and garlic naan. Everything was delicious!
O.
Upon reading the excellent reviews my family and I decided to visit as a special treat. I am sorry to say that the experience was disappointing. With regards to food it is good but nothing exceptional. All chicken dishes on the menu are chicken thighs ( which is not stated in the menu) not sure why a chicken tikka grill is not breast other than the leg meat is cheaper!
As this restaurant pride themselves on being an extra ordinary experience stepping back into rich history, to start with they should not hire underpaid stressed university students as front of house. The table we sat at smelt awful and was not cleaned properly and kept sticking to my sleeve. When I asked for it to be cleaned the waitress wiped it with a wet cloth which made it smell worse. Also the restaurant expects you to eat your main dish in the same plate you ate your starter ! I had to ask to have clean plates. Not exactly 5 stars service. You get a much better service and authentic experience at your local Indian . If they want to sell themselves as classy they have a long way to go. Nice interior though.
m. g.
The absolute best Indian meal I’ve ever had. Imaginative flavours, fantastic well presented food, superb attentive staff do not go anywhere else. Would I come back? In a heartbeat
J. S.
Delicious food and cocktails..the server was an amazing girl with excellent knowledge of both the food and drinks menu. Would definitely return and recommend fabulous night had by all.
H. B.
Food is 10/10. Waiters excellent and super friendly which made up for them forgetting a couple of drinks. Food was just sublime, was able to get a table on a busy lunchtime with no reservation. Made to feel very welcome. Pricey side but can see why
f. m.
Great meal for my birthday last weekend, we came from Leeds especially to eat here. The restaurant is beautiful. There is a vegan menu which is great but I would like to have had a 'saucy' curry option like a tofu 'butter' masala. But that's my personal preference. The waitress gave probably some of the best service we've ever had. Friendly, personable, honest, gave good advice when it came to menu choices including drinks. Even got a lovely complementary dessert for my birthday. Thanks Dishoom ,😊
C. H.
We went for breakfast, the service is excellent as is the food. Thoroughly enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere, we will be returning on our next visit to Manchester for dinner. We'll worth a visit
S. K.
We were told we needed to visit Dishoom by a few friends. What a great place. Love the back story of the building, ambiance and most of all the food. Fave dish.. gunpowder potatoes! We will definitely be back, thank you!
P. S.
Amazing experience and the decor reminds me of Rajasthan. Definitely worth going and the chai and halwa is the best to try
D. J.
Last week I visited Dishoom my first trip to Manchester and I received the friendliest and coolest service of my life in this restaurant. Foods were so delicious and staffs were really friendly and have such a bright mood.
I ate slowly because the food I ordered was a bit spicy and the waitress Katie (with long hair tied up) brought me something like yoghurt and said that would help me. The restaurant was very busy and I was alone, so I found that especially very warm and nice.
Thank you
c. b.
Staff attentive and knowledgeable, excellent customer service. The food was amazing and every dish we ordered was full of flavour and tasted fantastic. Would highly recommend and can’t wait for our next visit to sample different dishes from the menu
B. S.
Just Fantastic, super food, great service and atmosphere. The waiter went through the menu, we were still unsure. He then helped us by ordering all our meals. We then had one of the best meals in years. Highly recommended You won't be disappointed.
E. B.
Had an absolutely delectable Dishoom experience for our mum's birthday - the food and drinks were fab, the atmosphere brilliant, and Sian, our server, was the best!
Would definitely come back again (and again!)

The chai was the perfect balance of sweet and spice
Colaba colada - lovely take on Pina colada
Seekh kebabs - absolutely melt-in-your-mouth!
Mutton pepper fry - such depth in flavours
Nalli nihari biryani - what a way to combine two absolutely awesome dishes!

Still nice food and good service since my last visit. But noticed 3 things.
1)Prices are much more expensive a bill for 4 people reaching £180 with plus a 12% tip.
2) Absolutly packed out on a Friday night
3) level of noise in this restaurant is pretty much maxed out to the point it is uncomfortable. Do not expect to be able to talk to your partner or the people around your table unless you want a sore throat when you leave the restaurant. We were on the verge of shouting in order to be heard. Of course if everyone does this, it produces a snowball effect and the volume gets higher and louder.
Sorry Dishoom but have had to remove 1 🌟 due to the noise level.
My 5 Star review below when visited 2 years ago.
Very rarely does any restaurant get 5 stars in my reviews. Have to say the 5 stars are well deserved here. Food is exceptional, although a type of trendy "Street food“ it is of high quality well presented and full of a diversity of flavours. Good vegan and vegetarian options with plenty to choose from. The lasie vegan rose cardamon and strawberry is delightful along the other drinks and dishes offered in this restaurant. Staff are helpful and very knowledgeable regarding the options on the menu. The actual restaurant is beautiful and with a visit just to have a look. Regarding prices, very reasonable including service charge. A typical bill for 4 will start at around £80.

Very tasty food - chilli chicken &house chaat are a perfect combination! Very friendly service also.

Excellent Mumbai/Bombay cuisine.
Transported me home.
Highly recommended for anyone who is missing Bombay or wants to sample good Indian cuisine.
I was gifted the Dishoom book by my friend because I was homesick. Just scanning through the book took me on a nostalgic journey.
Incidentally another colleague was raving about the food at Dishoom.
It was only but natural that we booked a train to Manchester and reserved a breakfast slot for two.
The place blew my mind!
Designed like one of the memorable, but dwindling Parsi cafés in Mumbai, with great attention to detail.
The walls are adorned with portraits and newspaper advertisements, transporting you the retro era of Bombay.
High on nostalgia.. The owners have recreated the world they lived in.
Don't forget to visit the toilet/शौचालय. The staircase leading down, the tap/नल and the advertisements were a trip down memory lane.
Finally, coming to the food.
Authentic and excellent.
The Eggs Kejriwal was cheesy and the Akuri was great. But the kheema per edu was amazing.
(Yes, between the two of us we had 7 eggs. Protein overload!)
The buttered pav was what got me emotional and teary eyed.
Even in most places in Mumbai, one doesn't get such authentic pavs/bread.
This was my first, but definitely not my last visit here.
P. S. The chai is bottomless, so don't be shy.
Gluttony is a sin, indulge in it at Dishoom.
V. S.
So this is Iranian cafe which serves absolutely incredible Mumbai Indian food.
Naan , tikka , chai ☕️
We had great vegetarian selection and choices.
Daal Makhni was 👌🏼
J. L.
Desperately wanted to like the place but found it very rushed and not that enjoyable. Food was excellent but beer prices are ridiculous.
A. A.
Delicious (bottomless) chai and lovely breakfast/brunch options. Very tasty and reasonable. Great service.
C. G.
Incredible atmosphere, went for breakfast and we were stuffed to the brim with lovely food. Our server Rafaella treated us so so well. Would recommended for anyone looking for a high-end dining experience, without the very high price tag.

Beautiful restaurant setting, and absolutely fantastic unusual menu. Staff and service were definitely 5 star, however, felt cheated that the restaurant special (chefs Manchester special) described as a lamb shank biryani, was in fact a bone with pastry on top, with pieces of lamb mixed in with 90+ rice. A bit of a con really. Would like to receive feedback as to why it’s described as a lamb shank. All the other food we ordered was beautifully flavoured and delicious.
L. S.
Food was delicious! Customer service was excellent! They advised us to get
around 3 dishes each to share (including rice/bread) and we did that - just
the right amount. Would definitely recommend!
H. B.
From the moment we walked through the door, we couldn't have been treated better. Our server Chop was beyond amazing. She was aware that some of our group had allergies so was able to guide us safely through the menu choices. A big thank you to everyone. We will definitely be back!! X
D. B.
Best Indian restaurant in Manchester 😍 Much delighted after having dinner from here. Great ambience with taste bud enriching foods! We were served by staff named 'Emmeline'. She was sooo cheerful, active, friendly and was managing many tables at ease! We had a great time at Dishoom ! Would love to visit again!
W. W.
Me and my hubby went here for lunch as we had been given vouchers as a gift. It was a great experience! The food was delicious and our server was extremely helpful and explained the history of the food and recommended what to order. We would definitely go again
J. S.
In this place have waiting . It's a big restaurant but it's choice of all kinds of peoples.
ambience is very dark and not attractive.
Food tastes is good.
Prices are higher.
Service and serving is good.
Vegan and allergic food gets here.
Indian and foreigners are preferred to eat here
S. T.
The Paneer Curry here is absolutely amazing and my friends all enjoyed their food too.
The staff here are attentive and approachable and there is a nice atmosphere. The drinks seemed a little expensive, but we didn't drink anyway.
A. N.
Delicious meal! Fabulous atmosphere and impeccable service. Special shout out to Clara, she and the other gent in our section were super attentive and generally very sound! Would return for their service alone ⭐
S. C.
The staff are amazing. The manager, Sarah, is so friendly and helpful. She really helped make our weekend after she helped sort solve a logistics challenge I was having! My sisters and I were very grateful.

The food is really amazing
The best indian food i have ever eaten
Csaba is really nice guy and he gave us a warm welcome
I advice everyone to eat there 🤍🤍😍😍😍👍🙏
G. I.
Tasty food, friendly efficient service. Spicy Bloody Mary cocktail is just perfect.
M. N.
Waitress knew everything by heart, very good customer service. Food was good but could have been spicier only because i have asian buds. Over all great view and make sure you look at the ceiling, good structure.
L. C.
Took my family for their first visit, though I’ve been before. The staff were very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, particularly for those with dietary restrictions. The food was delicious as ever. We’ll all be visiting again for sure.
R. L.
We arrived extremely hungover after a long night out the night before. And the staff were so caring and friendly. They helped us order dishes that go together so we could have a good experience there. They also recommended a drink to help us all with our hangovers which worked! We were there as one of us had just broken up with her boyfriend and they brought us a free desert. Would definitely go again.
J. P.
Wow! Went for breakfast / brunch. An English breakfast with a twist. Absolutely delicious and the hot chai tea is a must to try.
N. P.
Had a nice meal here with my family. I've been to the London branches so this was my first time at the Manchester branch. It was a bit quiet following the very lively Pride weekend, but that meant the service was very fast and the food as always was very good. Always have the black daal and naan bread. Always love Dishoom. Chef's kiss!
C. C.
We have visited Dishoom tonight & the food was excellent. Hot, tasty & portions were generous. You could taste all the individual herbs & spices. We can honestly say that we have never been so well looked after by an individual member of staff in a Manchester restaurant. Our waitress Raphaella was so helpful - polite, informative & an absolute credit to your organisation. We would highly recommend a visit to this restaurant.
N. H.
Had a meal last night and the food was amazing and we couldn’t fault it. We had a staff member called Anna who was being trained, and she was so lovely, talked through the whole menu and was so patient. A great experience, can’t wait to go again!
b. p.
Hotel chain is present in Major cities of UK and the food i must say is Very consistent in taste, presentation & quality. Great service with a good variety in the menu. This place has become my 1st preference among Indian Restaurants.. 👌🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻
R. G.
food was sucha delight, great ambience and our waitress was super helpful and attentive. highly recommended.
J. G.
This place is the best restaurant I have ever eaten at. The food is absolutely amazing, the customer service was impeccable, made us feel like we VIPS
I would recommend this place to every body.
Will definitely be returning
A. S.
Good food , good vibe, great staff, almost authentic Indian food...try the chef special lamb biriyani...around 20£per person
S. B.
The food was pretty good. The taste was well balanced and the spice levels were perfect. The staff is also very accommodating and friendly, and the ambience is also brilliant. Definitely would recommend.
C. K.
We had an amazing anniversary! The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was incredible and we got 2 complimentary hand picked desserts to celebrate our anniversary. 10/10.
C. C.
The breakfasts here are outstanding. By far the best breakfast I've eaten. Dinner is nice too. Staff were fantastic, very friendly and very helpful with making sure I ordered something I knew it enjoy.
M. S. -. M. &. M.
Lovely atmosphere, excellent service, food was varied and delicious, catered for our gluten free menu - lots of choice - and lots of help choosing. Staff cheerful and helpful - especially Georgia who served us - nothing was too much trouble - thank you
J. V. (.
Insanely good from start to finish. Excellent decor/theming. very good atmosphere. Brilliant servers very friendly, welcoming and knew the menu very well (Pablo). Greeter passed on the message about a birthday in the party, remberred on the way out. Best array of dishes that were all perfect that I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Clean. Great bathrooms. If I could give 6/5 I would do. Impeccable.
n. m.
This is my second visit and as expected awesome food with an perfect service. Will definitely visit again
D. S.
An absolutely amazing experience and all thanks to Ben on the main desk and our main waiter Akos. Lovely food, lovely atmosphere and an overall brilliant meal. Thank you for making my brother's birthday extra special with the complimentary chaa and cake. We will be back again very soon!
S. P.
A very authentic themed restaurant. The first time I visited I actually felt like I had stepped in to a restaurant in Bombay.
Food was perfect, service was quick, staff were very friendly. However and this might be how others may like it but I did find it to be a bit too noisy for my liking..it was busy so I can understand but still a bit too noisy for me.
A. D.
If you are craving for Indian cuisine, then probably this is it. Good vegetarian options as well.
G.
Top service better than most places I’ve been to for the same price!! Highly suggest the food for people who want to try a new cuisine or just great food quality in general. The Manchester biryani and ruby chicken are must gets. Definitely worth it for the dining experience!
C. R.
Absolutely amazing food, service, atmosphere and building! This place is incredible! Authentic Indian food, that actually tastes like the real thing! Loved everything especially how accommodating they were for vegan diet! Shame had no vegan yoghurt I'll be back to try the chaat!
S. J.
Outstanding quality of food, I have seriously never had anything like this. The black daal is on another level. The staff are very friendly. The restaurant itself is very cozy. Cannot wait to visit again.
N. P.
Superb food; welcoming staff; lovely venue. I came here to celebrate my graduation, and the staff kindly gifted our table free desserts to mark the occasion.
Could not ask for more.
J. J.
Food was amazing, but the service was a bit of a clusterfudge. Had really nice 'indian power breakfast' and really good chai, but we've had around 5 problem with receiving the food to the table, either due to somebody forgetting, or mixing up orders and burning the wrong thing. We booked it for a special occasion and were given 'extra' bit of pancakes... Which we had to pay for extra too? As an apology we all received free breakfast coupons, so will be back to check for improvements soon.
C. M.
Phenomenal food and staff, we felt really looked after and were walked through the menu to help us decide what we wanted. A bit of a pot luck getting a table as there’s no prior reservations for small groups but seriously worth a short wait!
N. R.
Very nice place for indian food experience. Authentic Indian falvours.
D. M.
What a lovely evening we had here the food is beautiful. The service was brilliant we sat down table for 2 got served with minutes the guy who served us explained but you share everything that comes out and you help yourself
My god the lamb chops are so nice the spices on the lamb curry a lovely evening hopefully will find one of these restaurants in Nottingham
S. B.
The food was delicious. The service was lovely. It was my daughter's graduation and they brought us a free desert with a candle in it without any prompting. We will be back.
C. B.
Absolutely excellent curry and amazing friendly helpful service cheers
R. T.
Absolutely incredible, been a number of times now and it never fails to impress, the food is superb and the service is second to none. Legitimately some of the best Indian cuisine in Manchester, cannot recommend highly enough!
D. L.
Incredible food and fantastic service from enthusiastic and knowledgeable front of house team. The lamb biryani and spiced prawns were immense. Loving the apple chutney too.
J. C.
100% amazing- food, so bloody worth it, will be back
L. H.
Delicious food, one of the best Indian food I’ve had. Friendly staff.
J. N.
Lovely Indian restaurant, Vegetarian & Vegan friendly. Food delicious, little pricey but the staff, especially Chops & Matka, were extremely friendly, helpful & attentive which made for a great ambience. Masala Chai Tea is the best I've ever had, unlimited refills, liked it so much bought a tin to take home. Beautiful building.
S. W.
Great experience, beautiful decor, helpful and friendly staff and most importantly, wonderful food
C. W.
Amazing venue, friendly staff and tasty food although I don't think the prices justify the experience. £6 for a 330ml bottle of beer is criminal. Would recommend it you have a bottomless pit of money.
M. H. L.
Really great food, atmosphere and service. The staff was very helpful in putting together our meal, and accommodated dietary wishes as well as they could.
W. P.
5/5 for ambience
5/5 service
5/5 for food
4/5 for value
We like the virgin pina colada and endless milk tea.
P. S.
Really good food, very friendly staff.
We had originally seen the one in Covent Garden. It was 11am, and the queue was almost round the block. We knew it must be special, but didn't have time to queue.
We were overjoyed to find that there was one open in Manchester.
I don't normally eat out at Indian restaurants as I have friends from India who have shared their recipes. After you've had food like that, you're almost always disappointed when eating out. 4 people can order 4 different dishes, and they all fundamentally taste the same.
This is not the case at Dishoom!
We ordered 3 different things (mattar paneer, mutton pepper and spicy lamb chops), and each one was totally different.
It was a little on the expensive side, but overall was well worth it. We will definitely be going back, and I'll be trying some of their recipes from their cook book
R. C.
Eveything on the menu was inviting. I relied on the waiter's recommendations. Didn't have time to get pictures because the food was too good. If in Manchester, absolutely to visit!
E. V.
Amazing service from Dishoom Manchester. Thankyou to Dani who looked after us so well. She made dining with my allergies such an easy and none fuss experience. The cocktails were all lovely and delicious. We enjoyed chatting to the bar staff whilst we waited for are table. I felt so relaxed and chilled the whole time. The chicken biryani was authentic and exactly how a biryani should be with plenty of spice and kick. Thankyou for a wonderful dining experience
C.
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here last night, I had always thought the hype was a bit over the top and had opted to go to Mughli or Indique in Didsbury but it was excellent. Our waitress helped us navigate the menu for the first time and we particularly enjoyed her recommendation of the chill cheese toast. Would definitely visit again.
G. D.
Best curry I've ever had, every dish was just so delicious
J. G.
A lovely environment, helpful waiting staff, and amazing food. Took some colleagues here for a meal after a big day and everyone was blown away by the quality. Big recommendation.
A. H.
This wasn’t as good as the Dishooms I’d been to in other cities. The food was good, but the service was rushed and very sales-focussed. The servers were trying to get you to buy sides, more drinks etc constantly. My food came out about 30 sec after I ordered so obviously wasn’t made fresh.
M. P.
Everything was awesome! From the staff to the food and service. The food came super fast and it was delicious! My partner and I thank you for your hard work to provide such an experience!
M.
Saw this venue written up in the press so decided to visit for a late breakfast. It is a lovely space inside and breakfast served until 11.45. I had the two egg on spicy cheese toast. (Kejriwal £8.50.) Tasty but for the price it should have another slice of toast. The boss had the Keema per eedu. A minced chicken dish with an egg and chicken liver served with 2 homemade bread buns for £12,50. A generous portion so enough food overall for two. Had a coffee and Virgin Mary. Will be back to try the lunch menu.
C. O.
Unbelievably delish food and really helpful service. The drinks are also top notch, the Negroni is one of the best I've ever tasted!
I've never had a daal like it and I will be purchasing the recipe book at some point!
The pistachio kulfi on a stick was also delicious although it presents slightly Phallic.
B. L.
My first time here after many recommendations. We arrived for breakfast and was greeted at the door to confirm our reservation. We were ushered indoors where there was hand sanitiser and another greeter to show us to our table. Service was excellent. Staff are really friendly and accommodating. I had the breakfast naan with a cappuccino and it was delightful, no, it was Amazing! If breakfast is this good I'll definitely be back for an evening meal.
M. N.
Been couple times now, I have to admit being an amateur food critic…this place is something else. From service to the food to the non alcoholic colada drink with coconut flakes.
They need to expand, as waiting times can be a bit long, and sometimes you have to book days in advance, but it’s worth the wait.
Keep doing what you do hun.
L. L.
Love it! Went here for birthday celebration.
The staffs are friendly and nice. All recommendations are so good! Amazing! Especially the lamb chop!
S. G.
Excellent food! Excellent staff! Excellent building! This is my favourite restaurant.. I will certainly continue to return. Thank you Dishoom Manchester, as always ❤️
T. K.
✔️ excellent food
✔️ large portion
✔️ friendly knowledgeable staff
✔️ Nice decor
Went for breakfast with my better half, we had a great time! Only very minor comment the portion was a little large for us, although it’s not a negative I HATE LEAVING GREAT FOOD! 😂
Definitely recommend!
J. H.
Fantastic food. Great building and interior. Well worth a visit if in city centre. Great restaurant overall. One of my personal favourites 😍
R. S.
The food at Dishoom is incredible. I was in Manchester for a week and went to this place twice. The food tastes amazing and they have a lot of variety throughout the menu. On the second visit I had to wait for a table briefly which meant I got to try their cocktail bar. So good! My Indian gimlet was flavourful and well made. The place is pretty big so in theory you shouldn't have to wait long for a table however, for a larger group you should book a table. The staff are very friendly and more than willing to answer any questions you have. I highly recommend eating here.
B. M.
Lovely restaurant and beautiful interior. I got paneer and cheese naan and it was amazing. The paneer is the best I've ever tasted. Waiter was very attentive despite being very busy, short staffed I imagine but he was brill! Highly recommend.
E. L.
The food was excellent, staff are really friendly and helpful
R. S.
Amazing Restaurant with lip smacking delicacies.
S. c.
Easily one of the best food and customer experience I've had in a restaurant. The place was buzzing which is always a good signal, despite that the ambiance and music is designed to give a more intimate feel if you're going with your partner or as a group.
From entering the premises you're met at the front desk who will promptly greet you and if there aren't any tables currently available will sit you at the bar where you can grab a drink while waiting for the next available table. If you consume alcohol and like rum then the colaba colada is delicious.
Super friendly and competent wait and bar staff. All the dishes we had were delicious, but the standout ones for me are the vegetable samosas and the biryani. Food was well presented and tasted fresh.
Finished off with a nice hot Chai, which rounded the meal nicely. My 1st Dishoom experience and won't be the last.
A. H.
I love Dishoom. Its just amazing. Ive never had a bad meal there. We had breakfast naans which are to die for. The house chai is spicy and lovely. All the staff are fantastic and attentive. I cant recommend highly enough
Z. A.
Lovely food and great ambience. Would like to commend and thank Pranav and Alberto who made sure that we had the best time at Dishoom! 10/10 service
K. S.
All the food was so delicious! Biryani was awesome. However, chicken ruby was a bit on the sweeter side (as a Indian I like it more spicy). Dishoom chaat house was the best I eat in recent memory and Dava pau/pav has that india taste that we all loves. Ambiance was very good.
J. C. C.
Very good cocktails, amazing Indian/Iranian fusion cuisine and very friendly, attentive knowledgeable staff; both in the bar and main restaurant. I highly recommend this place.
C. L.
The cocktails were a good way to keep yourself entertained while waiting for the table. The venue has a spectacular atmosphere. Staff is attentive and accommodating. The food however is so-so. It’s by far not the best British-Indian food I’ve had.
C. W.
The experience was fab from start to finish. The food was delicious and our server Alberto was just amazing! Thank you for a wonderful time Dishoom!!
J. H.
The best food and service you'll ever receive. We go a lot and never any faults. The Ruby curry is magical and the rice pudding I perfection, a must go.
M. D.
Great meal during their soft launch for my wife's birthday. The service was amazing and all the staff were really attentive. Set in an amazing building and finished beautifully.
Loved that they also had Franks bottled water, that was unexpected.
Surprised us with a chocolate dessert which was a really nice touch, the chilli ice cream was a welcome treat.
C. 1.
What can I say, we are regular visitors and this place has the best staff. Very genuinely happy to be working there .. only thing I will say is we were expecting Salli botti on the menu but couldn’t find it .. food can seem too buttery sometimes
J. H.
Weve been lucky enough to been served by Rafaella a couple of times recently. Her service has been a real stand out and makes the restaurant really stand out as a place to go. The food is also excellent
N. S.
At first glance, you feel as though you are stepping back in time to the early part of the 20th century. Set up as an Irani/Parsi inspired cafe/restaurant, with food to match. The menus add to the retro feel, which a range of traditional and modern fusion indian dishes and drinks. The signage is in English and Hindi. Well worth a trip with the family or friends.
O. M.
Amazing and atmosphere. The waitress even better. Made us feel like superstars and we even got free chai in the end...what is better than that
B. P.
This was my second visit to Dishoom in two weeks and it was just as good as the first time. They've got a great selection of dishes and I'd highly recommend the chilli chicken and lamb chops. You try the viceroy of fashioned as it tastes as good as it looks. Best to book in advance as they always seem busy.
Service was really good even down to offering to knock a meal off the bill when it didn't quite have the spice kick we expected.
G. S.
Unreal food, too service and an unforgettable experience…per usual. Dishoom Manchester never fails the expectations.
Alejandro, you’re a legend! Keep up the amazing work hermano!
N. A.
Really good selection of food in the menu. Great atmosphere and surprisingly quite a big place. There are some unique dishes that hits the spot and you'll be forgiven for ordering the same dish again 😃. Also very good for a group meal out.
A. M.
The food is simply incredible, I was not a big fan of Indian food, but Dishoom have completely changed my mind. They have a twist on every dish that makes it tasty and different. I also understand that they donate a meal for every meal sold.
The service their is on a different level also, the people working their appear to love it and they always make you feel welcome. The last two times we went there We were served by Hana that was incredible, very helpful and friendly.
S. U.
I absolutely love Dishoom. The service is always amazing and very genuine. I much prefer going to Dishoom for dinner. Pictured is breakfast and although the presentation of it all was AMAZING I wasn't wowed by the taste of it. The keema per eedu was nice but not something I'd be in a rush to go back for. I absolutely love what they do though. For every meal brought they donate a meal. It's a must try place.
M. R.
Really enjoyed my visit to Dishoom on Friday around 6pm! Food was amazing and we had the most amazing waitress, Roshan. Would definetly return!!
M. B.
Come here twice. Wait will be 20 mins during peak weekend night. Drink before getting a table - good stratrgy on earning money from drinks. Nice espresso martini and old fashioned. A bit pricy side.
Biryani chicken, naan, house curry vegan, chicken tikka. All pretty nice. My friend does not eat lamb otherwise lamb rice dish is a must have for every table.
Good chai latte. They serve on waiting line. Also nice for dessert.
A. N.
Highly recommend. Amazing restaurant and bar. Fantastic staff, Richard our server in particular. Best biriyani, small plates and curry we have had in ages. Delicious, good value and relaxed. We've booked to go again
A. Y.
Delicious food, fairly priced, great atmosphere, and very friendly and supportive staff. Cannot recommend enough.
J. S.
I have allergies and the staff were extremely careful not to cross contaminate. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and service was excellent.
S. V.
So going to visit this restaurant again. The food was delicious, well flavoured dishes and plenty of dishes to choose from if you are a vegetarian. The service is brilliant 10minutes after my order the food started arriving. The waiter knew the menu so well. The ambience of the restaurant is great and it is a well furnished restaurant. The bouns is that the restaurant is not too expensive. If you are a food this is a must restaurant you should visit in Manchester. Far better than the Ivy1
H. M.
I went with a friend for breakfast early-ish on Sunday The food was gorgeous and the staff were just brilliant - really lovely and helpful. The venue and atmosphere are lovely too.
A. F.
Still one of the best meals out there
M. B.
The best meal I've ever had. Absolutely blown us away. The food is something else, amazing. Staff are also brilliant, very attentive, explained all the menu to us, recommended what to get and how many dishes is enough. I cannot recommend this place enough and can't wait to come back!!!
H. P.
Great place for Bombay Irani cafe breakfast experience in Manchester. The chai is good, and perfect for dipping the bun maska 😋!
With dishes like Akuri, Bun maska and keema per eendu, and the interior ambience, it has the proper Bombay Irani cafe vibes.
A. l.
Must try if u visit Manchester. Good food, service and ambience. So difficult to book a table for dinner, I can olyvgrab one for lunch before I leave.
A. S.
Great authentic Indian cuisine with some twists. They've managed to keep the same high standards as their London branch. The fish and black Dal are a 'must have' .
The place has a great Parsi Bombay Cafe ambience with the furniture, wall art, right down to the cutlery. The toilets arrive and clean with the same retro ambience. Quite crowded for a Thursday night so be prepared for queues on a weekend ( They don't pre-book for less than 6 which is a bit of a pain).
G. b.
This restaurant never disappoints, fabulous food and the service was absolutely excellent. Its a must go to place, a culinary experience not to be missed.
S. S.
This is a huge place with lots of seating available. I was quite impressed buy the way in which they have transformed the place to give a 70's 80's feel to a classic Indian cafe. Really good job there!
The menu is quite different to any typical indian restaurant and they have quite unique dishes at Dishoom. I very much love their Prawn Koliwada. Very tasty stuff. They also have many local Indian beverages such as Limca and ThumbsUp.
One complaint that I would make is that the total in the bill by default includes an "OPTIONAL service charge of 12.5%" and the people who work there just key in the final amount in the bill. Only after I came back home I realised this. They should change the system to let customers about this and give an option to include gratuity when they pay the bill.
M. A.
Excellent food Mumbai cola is the best keema wins my new friend johns is the best and others we met indeed.
Thank you.
B. M.
Dined here with a few friends on a Monday evening. It was busy and the restaurant is COVID friendly. In addition to the good service the restaurant looked cleaned including the toilets. I tried the chilli chicken and lamb biryani. In my personal opinion felt they were little over spiced but the meat were nice and tender. The only downside I struggled to read the menu as the writing is tiny and I wasn’t informed about the service charge (bit like double VAT) Overall good night out.
B. T.
The service was great. Both, during our waiting time at the bar and at the table as well. We were welcomed nicely at the entrance and the service staff explained about the menu nicely when we were sat at our table.
Main course:
We ordered murgh malai, Machi tikka, naan, nihari biryani, house black daal, and ruby chicken.
The taste was very good and full of flavours. The fish was marinated well and was tender. The size of naan bread was more like round tandoori roti. The taste was good. The house black Dal is amazing. A must. It is similar to taste and texture to Dal makhani. Cooked in a similar way. Although, as you can se in the photos. The appearance looked a little sad compared to other dishes, would have been nice to have some decoration on the Dal.
Nihari biryani is a completely different and unique rice and meat medley. Anyone would enjoy it I think. It is a good mix of spices (a completely different one from traditional biryanis one would have tried elsewhere).
None of the food was very spicy. Some food tasted to be a little in salt as well. One thing about the menu, only two things which include paneer. Limited vegetarian options in the mains. There are some options but not a large variety. On the contrary, non-veg options are plenty.
Dessert:
Kulfi:10/10 for.malai kulfi. Mango and pistachio version are equally well.
Kashmir chilli ice cream; a very good ice cream with a chilli after taste (a kick) after every bite .
Price; slightly heavy on the wallet. But considering the location and service. And the quality of food , this is not a downside. Just mentioning this so you one can plan in advance.
A. G.
Excellent meal with really friendly, and very knowledgeable service. The quality and flavours of the food are much better than a 'normal' Indian restaurant and the environment and ambience is very pleasing.
E. T.
Food excellent, staff excellent , only one problem the restaurant is too dark, couldn't see to read the menu we all had to use a mobile torch to see.

Vegan review:
Queued for 45 minutes outside in the cold and rain! We were given the choice of mint tea or chai (with dairy in).
It was worth the wait! Fully vegan menu given.
We had khichia and chundo - very nice snack, plus okra fries - tasty, and I opted for the chole puri which was delicious!
Staff were lovely, they offered umbrellas too. Lovely atmosphere and quick service, they just brought out food as it was ready.
Would definitely recommend it and come back again.
A. J. C.
Amazing service, made us fell right at home and our waiter, Italian chap, was a delight, spicy lamp chops were extra special, the pie/biriani/lamb shank was huge, wasn't overly keen on the chicken ruby but think that was just me after having the lamb chops, if there's one thing you have to try here it's the ice cream.........world class!! PS the rose and cardoman lassi cools even the hottest pallets
R. A.
Outstanding restaurant! I really liked the food and the restaurant's atmosphere.
Pranav is an amazing guy! he knew exactly what we wanted and recommended great dishes. I will definitely go back to Dishoom again for the food and the service!
O. B.
Amazing food and wonderful service, never been to a restaurant with such a wide variety of good food, loved everything we had and we ordered a lot!
N. T.
We came here for anniversary lunch and the food was exquisite as was the service. Rich took really good care of us, was attentive and made some wonderful suggestions. Every single thing was just perfect. The black daal melts in your mouth and the nihari was a revelation. Kheer with blueberry compote was lovely; not too sweet but just right. The kala khatta is refreshing and the chai! I will fight a badger for that chai! Highly recommend this place.
P. H.
Superb experience!! We went in their based on very good reviews we saw on google and definitely this place didn’t disappoint us. It’s quite crowded and better to reserve tables in advance. This place might be serving perhaps one of the most expensive pav Bhaji or vada pav but it’s worth it. We ordered biriyani, dal and roti and it was near perfect. The ambience is top class with many antique artifacts from old Parsi community of Bombay which gives a nostalgic feel. The staff is very well trained on the food, it’s taste and in giving recommendations. A must try if you are an Indian food lover when in Manchester!!
K. I.
Came for my wife's birthday after going to the restaurant in the West End a few weeks ago. As a Freemason it was a lovely surprise to see the stained glass windows and pictures on the wall. The service and food was amazing. Definitely prefer it to Mowgli. Just saying!😄
J. M.
This place is brilliant, great service great food what more can you ask for. Waiter we had was excellent, giving us advice on food and generally chatting with us. Brilliant. Definitely will be coming back.
S. Y.
Never a bad meal at Dishoom - breakfast just as good! Great vibes and staff were very friendly.
R. S.
One of the best breakfasts in Manchester. From the bacon naans to the bottomless chai, it's simply amazing. Service is also perfect.
J. W.
Amazing food, super delicious. Decoration is fantastic service is great too! 👍👍👍
B. B.
I feel incredibly lucky to have had the chance to eat here on our one night in Manchester. Our server was very helpful in suggesting the best dishes to really get the most out of our dinner. We had excellent cocktails and the food was just outstanding. Would love to visit again someday.
S. J.
Went on a random afternoon at an off peak time, catered to us well, service was nice. Food is not particularly flavourful, a little overpriced and just misses the mark. There’s better options out there for the same price (check out Gymkhana London if you’re a fan of Indian). Don’t order the desserts they’re pretty bad. The ambience was decent though.
M. S.
Great service, amazing building.
Delightful food.
L. W.
Literally our new favourite place ever. We have visited at least once a week.
The food is so tasty….. so many different flavours. We have had the breakfasts, which are probably the nicest breakfast I’ve ever had & the most unusual. The dinner menu is just as good.
From the minute you walk in & are greeted from the reception staff…… you are treated with nothing but amazing customer service. The staff cannot do enough for you. My little girl absolutely loves it here too. Definitely in the top 3 best places in Manchester to eat.
S. P.
Wonderful place and atmosphere. Group of 6 of us, most for first time - and one a veggie. Lovely, helpful staff. Menu options really good and great suggestions and advice from staff - well done Pedro - thank you.
All food absolutely fabulous - taste, spice and flavours brilliant. Sharing dishes add to experience.
Not overly expensive.
All agreed would love to and will do again.
L. G.
One of the best Indian meals I’ve ever eaten. Really recommend.
F. D.
wonderful food and staff happy to be there always
They asked us if we have an occasion to celebrate and give us sweet dishes to celebrate with us.
it was fantastic
A.
Dishoom is hands down, the best Indian restaurant in Manchester. Do not miss the Keema Pav and Special Nalli Biryani, as they are amazingly delicious. The drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are refreshing and new.
If you Love Indian food and are in Manchester, DO NOT miss this place.
A. Q.
Decided to go for a late work breakfast on the reviews of other people and wasn't disappointed. 12 of us turned up and the staff quickly made a suitable table and went through the menus for us. The food was great and nobody was left out dietary wise. It's definitely on the pricey side for a breakfast, but very worth it for a treat.
R. S.
What a menu and what amazing taste. We were 3 families with kids and we thoroughly enjoyed the taste of real good Indian food. Every bite, beautiful!!!
H. C.
Rafaella was our waitress and she was so incredibly kind, attentive, outgoing and very smiley and chatty. We had a lovely experience for my partners birthday and the food was outstanding. Will definitely be coming again soon and recommend to all our friends and family.
D. Q.
The whole experience was exceptional the staff were very friendly and attentive.
The Big Bombay Breakfast I had was off the charts I ordered a side of Two eggs and asked for them to be cooked with Crispy skirts and they came perfectly cooked.
Well done Dishoom Manchester 10/10
F. Z.
I came here with my sister for a breakfast and we ended up having the vegan breakfast. And wow, it exceeded our expectations by far! It was so delicious you couldn’t even tell it was vegan. And I believe the chai is bottomless which is great. So filling!
C. I.
Lived up to expectations. We got a mix of dishes to share, chicken ruby murray, biryani, fried prawns, lamb samosas, all had so much flavour. The restaurant has a really cosy feel to it.
C. M.
From the minute you arrive at the steps of this beautiful building Dishoom does not disappoint. Attentive service from friendly, knowledgeable staff, a laid back classy atmosphere and most importantly exquisite food. Go there!!
L. K.
It's one of the best Indian Restaurant I ever been. The food is heavenly, on arrival the staff was nice and a waiter has explained the menu very well, giving personalized recommendations that were indeed very tasty. I also liked the general style of the restaurant.
There are two negatives I can mention. Most dishes don't include any side, so the final bill can be a bit pricey. The second thing is the lighting. It's nice and moody but at our desk for example it was so dark that it was a bit challenging to read the menu. I'd still wholeheartedly recommend it though.
S. C.
Quite the experience! We visited for our wedding anniversary and got treated like vips with prosecco on the table and complementary dessert. Even without this the food at dishoom is something to experience. Highly recommended the Manchester special biryani, available only in Manchester. The lamb is beautifully soft and the crisp puff pastry adds a whole other dimension to this classic dish.
S. L. C.
A treat, whether it's a lone dining lunch or a group dinner, lots to choose from and it's all delicious. Can get busy, and just need to check lunching / evening menu timings as it's a proper restaurant service. One of those places you go and can't wait to go back
K. P.
Absolutely the best curry I have ever had, beautiful surroundings and excellent serving staff cannot wait to go again.
R. M.
Absolutely amazing food and great service too. 6 of us ordered lots of different things with some good recommendations from the waiter and we were stuffed and all very happy. With drinks and food it was £33 per head which is very reasonable for what we had. Can’t recommend enough
G. B.
Superb food! One of the best indian restaurants.
B. V.
The place definitely has good tasty food but they do try to cut the cost of making the food by sacrificing the quantity and other usual restaurant tricks but not sacrificing the quality in the process. Considering it follows Irani cafe style it is acceptable. The quantity of the food is less i.e, the proportion of the starter, main dish and side dish are all equal so this leaves us with side dishes to be left over. This something they must fish. Something is called a main dish because its proportion is to be twice its sides. Food of this restaurant is authentic Indian food with a bit of brit twist to allow everyone to enjoy the food. The ambiance of this place will take you back to the Retro days with slow moving fans, retro disco music and the furniture as well. The bar of this will restaurant is pretty awesome. If you wanna dive into the past, this is the place. The staffs are friendly and humble. The restaurant is ready to give some treats to its customers who happen to celebrate their birthday there. Over all its a wonderful place to hang out. It's spacious and lively.
A. H.
It was our first time at Dishoom and we were really impressed.
The atmosphere was lovely and the service stood out straight away. We felt the staff were very down to earth yet attentive and the food was wonderful. We will definitely return and have already recommended Dishoom to friends.
Amazing breakfast menu for very good price.
The service was stand out even for a more casual breakfast service and it is clear that staff enjoy working there.
P. M.
Tried a Dishoom breakfast for the first time and was not disappointed! Like an English breakfast with an Indian twist, very tasty. The cappuccino was done just right. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. Lovely dining room with impressive decor. Overall perfect... shame I can't give more than 5 stars.
R. P.
Always had good experience visiting this place !
Fired chille and okra are my fav from there !
Make sure you try koliwada prawns if you sea food lover !
J. F.
Just been for breakfast at Dishoom after going for dinner last week. It's becoming a firm favourite for me and the staff as it's a 5 minute walk from the office. The food is incredible and the staff are fantastic. Prav was incredible!
J. H.
Visited for the first time, for breakfast. Beautiful food, friendly service and an interesting decor. Really enjoyed our visit and hope to return soon. Thanks to the team for the warm welcome.
D. C.
Food was superb !! I ate off the GF menu and had advice from the staff who seemed to be very clued up with Coeliac Disease. Some dishes were at mine own risk as pointed out by the staff due to kitchen facilities. Wouldn't hesitate to eat here again. All good many thanks !
D. W.
Excellent food in down location!
A different experience and not a usual "curry" place.
Friendly and welcoming staff, especially our waitress who made excellent recommendations.
Stout at 8.8%! Watch out!
R. S.
We came for my sister's birthday party, we were a group of 11. Katie served us, she was so helpful, pleasant thought-out, did not once flinch despite our multiple requests and also gave us all chai as a treat! Can't ask for more!
S. D.
First time coming here, was served by Gabbie and she was absolutely amazing. She went through the menu with us and gave us recommendations which turned out to be really nice, she was so sweet and kept running back and forth to fulfil our needs. Food was really nice, service was absolutely amazing so Thankyou Gabbie. Will be back again and hope to see you:).
J. R.
We had an amazing time as a new family in Dishoom for my husband's birthday. We are a sleep deprived couple with a 6 month old baby and the staff never rushed us, and was very kind to our baby, even bringing some yoghurt for her to sample. I know we must not have been the easiest guests to cater to as we are very slow to choose and eat but the team made us comfortable and we could chill for the first time in a while. Looking forward to come back when we are a bit more able to enjoy everything fully!
S. M.
Food and drink were absolutely amazing - staff equally so!
Went for breakfast but have ordered off the other menus previously online and they have never disappointed - piping hot, tasty and great portion sizes :)
S. R.
Amazing, been to every single one in London and incredibly happy to see one more close to home.
Food is incredible, authentic Indian cuisine, decor accurately depicts the house of an aristocratic Indian landowner. Feel proud to see the food of my people executed with such excellence. Seekh kebabs, roomali roti, masala chai, lamb somasas with all traditional chutneys...just a few of my favourites from the menu ❤️
P. N.
Great place with great food and service. Extra little treat for my birthday 🥳
G. F.
Love Dishoom; the food is always interesting and good quality, but felt a little rushed in the Manchester restaurant on our last visit.
Shoreditch is also more relaxed. But had a good time, nonetheless.
M. G.
Great food and a very sociable environment for all ages. I definitely recommend going here if you like indian food and just want to have a fun, lovely meal.
m. m.
I already knew I liked fhe food as I have visited the Edinburgh branch. But the amazing welcome from Kiki and our waiter Alejandro made our night! We can't forget the girl on reception who's name we didn't get. We are from Leeds and will probably make a special trip back! X
J. M.
An incredible, authentic Bombay dining experience in the heart of Manchester.
We've loved the London and Birmingham restaurants since they first opened and have enjoyed two visits to the Manchester location. The Manchester restaurant blows the London one away in terms of ambience and the grandeur of the building.
The staff (special shout out to Cat!), food, sights, smells, music are all exquisite and combine to provide a very special dining experience.
Try these(!)...
- Ruby Chicken (incredible!)
- All of the rotis
- Lamb kebab
- Any of the cocktails
- The chai 👌🏻
Always best to book if you want to avoid queuing at peak times. Even Monday evenings become fully-booked.
💳 American Express accepted ✅

We come here atleast once a week with our 1 year old daughter. Staff are always smiling and attentive (probably the best waiting and front of house staff in Manchester), and are always more than obliging to interact with our little one.
Recommend the chilli chicken, chaat and ofcourse bottomless house chai. Great for vegetarians too, chole are delicrious, and the kadaa (sweet pudding) in the thali makes it even better.
During lockdown too, their deliveries are well thought out, quite exciting, and brings some of the theatre to your home. Much better than the usual plastic tupperware with a sharpie written on the lid.
Keep up the good work Dishoom, and see you soon for some breakfast nans.
V. P.
Went for breakfast on Sunday..fairly busy but promptly served and seated by front of house staff. Nice quality setting. Mix of small groups and families. Happy with the food and my dish was enough to keep me going till evening. They do a great hot chocolate masala chai which is worth trying.
B. H.
Excellent breakfast with an Indian twist. Went on my birthday and had Wrestlers naan roll. Not overfacing (as in size) but quality food and excellent staff. Free kulfi because put on booking form birthday event. Enjoyed
K. B.
Delicious! Visited on Friday with my partner, staff were unbelievably attentive and seemed well versed in every dish on the menu.
The interior is beautiful and themed, and the food is mind blowing. My only qualm (and the reason it gets 4 stars) is that the vegan options are somewhat limited - that being said the food we did get was incredible.
It's a great place to treat yourself to a visit to.
Z. A.
Very nice meal, full of flavour. Reasonably price, personal service.
Lovely environment. Highly recommended
S. L.
Based in the old Masonic Hall on Bridge Street the surroundings as you gorge are simply stunning. If they offered tours of the building they could probably make as much money as they do from the restaurant! So, the food....Wow! it really is fantastic and a real departure from your stock curry house offering. Loads of tapas style street food dishes so best bet is to pick 4 or 5 and just tuck in. A couple of highlights for me were the Manchester Biryani, the chicken ruby, gunpowder potatoes.....Fairly pricey but only if you compare to a local curry house offering. For the high quality surroundings, the amazing food and the fact that its in the city centre, it was good value for money. I cant wait to come back!!
C.
I've been to the Covent Garden Dishoom, and was excited to see one in Manchester. Manchester did not disappoint. Amazing food and drinks. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. It's a good sized restaurant with a cosy vibe and beautiful interior. I love this place and will be returning!
R. K.
the best indian food i tried in manchester!! the butter chicken was so creamy and delicious. and the garlic naan is to die for! and the service was 10/10. the waiters were so friendly and super helpful.
U. R.
The food was delicious. Especially the chefs recommendation for the Nalli Nihari Biryani. The Malai Murgh Chicken was delicious. Hannah was amazing. Her service was excellent. We will definitely be visiting again. The waiting time for a table was quite long, but expected on a Saturday Night.
L. N.
Frankly the best Indian food I had in a long while. The service was also excellent!
M. B.
Staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for our large group. Explained our options (which were all absolutely delicious). Would highly recommend.
V. L.
I've been before for dinner, but first time for breakfast. Amazing, super tasty, and bottomless chai!!! Definitely coming back
H. A.
We had lunch on a Saturday afternoon as a group of friends. The food was delicious and the we had a lot of it. The starter was fried Okra and mince lamb meat with breads. The grills were lovely but the lamb briyani was the highlight of the whole meal. Would diffenitly Recommend it
C. M.
Fabulous food, and a complementary dessert as it was our wedding anniversary. Service was second to none. The only warning I will give is....be wary of the Espresso Martini. It comes with chilli powder sprinkled on the top, which gives it an almost unpleasant kick. However, not enough to stop me from giving the restaurant a full 5 stars, as the rest of the experience was amazing..
C. L.
Came for breakfast with a group. Staff were pleasant, great decor with serious attention to detail. Food quality was exceptional, coffee and chai was top notch. Keen to come back for the dinner in the future. Pricing is fair enough, you certainly get a high standard overall.
S. R.
Had a great time with Amine, he took care of us by serving us chai while we waited for our table. The food is awesome. Thanks Dishoom
F. P.
Absolutely loved the food. The whole ambience of the place was reminiscent of Irani Cafes in Bombay and Pune.
One should try the Vada Pau, if missing home. Immaculate experience!
D. K.
Great venue and good food. Our waiter Marius was excellent. Will be going back! I’d recommend you try the house black daal!
T. P.
I'll start with the interior, the place is absolutely stunning. After that I'm not quite sure what it is. The website paints a story, but it just isn't followed through on the ground. We were asked if we'd been before and as we hadn't they recommended three of the smaller plates per person. Fortunately we ignored the advice! It would be too much, just treat it like a normal curry house. If you do go for the small plates, two might be a little short of you are hungry, but the regular dishes are fine. The food itself was a bit hit and miss, there are a few unusual dishes and I'd suggest steering that way. From what we had, the starters were probably better than the mains!
It's a restaurant that needs to decide what it is.
M. A.
Service is great, food is awesome and ambience is just right. Took away one star for chilli chicken what we ordered (was good but not up to our taste.)
L. S. A. G. S.
We shared the chef's special Lamb Biryani and Dahl with Prawns, Samosas and Chaat starters. The food was delicious and service top notch. Great location too.
d. p.
The food is outstanding, the pricing is reasonable and the service we got from Chops was top notch. Thanks for a great meal. We will be back again. 😄
R. M.
We never pass up an opportunity to go to Dishoom for their Bacon Naans and Manchester Dishoom did not disappoint! The staff were so lovely and the Naan and Chai were as delicious as always.
V. R.
The best Indian food in England. The service is really fast, fantastic experience. Highly recommend
S. C.
Lovely surroundings accompanied by delicious food. All helped by having attentive staff. An absolutely lovely place!
S. G.
Wonderful food and immaculate service. Menu was explained and the waiter made some helpful suggestions, can't wait to return
H. C.
Fantastic brunch.... Especially as a walk in. Great atmosphere and service. The bacon naan and bloody Mary were a great start to my weekend.
M. G.
Loved it as always! Monika was amazing! Recommended the best food, must try the chef special biryani
H. B.
Was rather underwhelmed after all the hype. This is a massive restaurant run on an industrial scale. Met at reception and shown through to our table. I ordered the Dahl and rice plus a few side dishes. The Server was awkward, and rather grumpy. The decor is stunning. It’s a lovely place to sit. The food, I was expecting a lot more, especially given this isn’t exactly the lowest priced food in Manchester. The dishes where distinct, but frankly, just not that tasty.
P. G.
Consistently good cooking, nice service staff, punchy flavours and not your typical generic Indian menu. Just a shame sometimes it's hard to get into.
L. F.
Brilliant place! Excellent services!
L. R.
It’s was really good and I had best Indian food in this restaurant I love it 🥰 they serving very well as well 😍
M. G.
The best curry I've had in ages, loads of flavour and somehow still light. Really good.
E. B.
Friendly accomodating fantastic array of food .
Don't take servers advice on how to order, way too much food. Beit delish!
I. D.
Visited Dishoom yesterday lovely food , super ambience , took me back to my childhood days in mumbai. Nihari biryani is a must try .
J. “. M.
Excellent food and service as always. Just need to perfect my Parsi (Akuri) eggs at home now, still can't get them up to Dishooms standard.
T. M.
Five stars to the best indian room in town. Dine or lunch here it's an awesome experience. Hope to come soon in manchester to try the breakfast in dishoom style.
S. J.
Fabulous authentic Indian restaurant. Not your standard Indian fare, Raj Bombay style food. Service is exemplary, our waiter talked us through the entire menu making recommendations for combinations and items that are popular. Highly recommended , not cheap, but welll worth it.
H. G.
Awesome lunch and served by julio - Great waiter and top service! Very friendly and knowledgable
M. S.
First time here - really great aromatic tasty food with a historic interior and lots of nostalgia
W. H.
Vegan Bombay breakfast falls slightly short - could do with some more oomph from the sausages, black pudding & mushrooms (expected more spices/punchy flavours), began "eggs" & beans were too notch. The soy keema breakfast is outstanding 👌well spiced, punchy and filling. Mango & fennel Lassi was good, a little subtle on both the mango & fennel but creamy and cleansing. Will be back.
A. B.
Extensive menu, great food, service and atmosphere. Would recommend and will definitely go back
C. B.
unbelievable, food service and located in such an amazing building
highly recommend
R. G.
The most amazing menu options, we all loved the food and couldn't have enough !!! Keep up the quality and service, and the delicious dishes.
B. C.
Visited with a friend and had a late breakfast before hitting the Christmas Markets. It's not my first visit and certainly won't be my last! Food, service and atmosphere were excellent.
R. C.
Really loved this place, been meaning to go for a while and it didn’t disappoint! Really interesting decor, lots of old photographs and trinkets which look really cool. The staff are amazing, really friendly and explained the menu to us (with some recommendations!)
We went for breakfast, which meant I had to try the sausage and egg naan roll (delicious) and a chai tea. The prices are good for the quality you get, everything is fresh and well prepared.
Had a look round before we left and the restaurant opens up to a huge back room with a gorgeous bar. Can’t wait to return and try the rest of the menu!
M. M.
Ok so I’m from Bombay (India) and I can guarantee. This is THE most authentic Bombay theme restaurant I’ve ever visited outside of India. I visited on my birthday 05 December and had an amazing time at Dishoom. I felt like I was in Bombay!
Here’s our order for 2
Chilli chicken - 10/10
Pau bhaji - 9/10
Lamb Biryani 8/10
Chicken tikka roll 8/10
Desserts
Kulfi - 10/10

Had really nice lunch today. Manager Dan was super helpful to get off the menu broccoli for my child.
J. T.
Great atmosphere, great food couldnt recomend it enough have to say the service was bang on no complaints would defo recomend.
M. A.
Great food and service. Delicious. We went for breakfast. Authentic and best chai ever. Highly reccomend
D. M.
Fabulous old building. Impressive size adds to the sense of occasion. Large menu requires some deciphering. Staff are plentiful, polite and helpful. Service is quick and food is tasty. We loved it. You should probably book in advance, this place is popular!
M. E. Z.
For me is the best restaurant in Manchester.
If you like the Indian food then this definitely going to be the best option.
I’d thank the staff for their kind hospitality and also the chefs for their efforts to make an amazing food.
Really recommend this and of course will visit again ❤️
S. J.
I love the house tea at this place and the bun maska, it takes me back to visiting India as a child. So authentic and fresh!!! There's alot to choose from and the menu has a good vegetarian variety too. The atmosphere is always lovely and the service fantastic. I'd advise you book, to save you from waiting for a table!
H. S.
Love Dishoom for breakfast. Great friendly staff. Food is amazing. Very relaxing atmosphere if you go in the week.
G. F.
Nice interior but drinks - especially beer prices crazy and optional serv charge added to bill so not that optional.
S.
Popped in for breakfast with friends and although I wasn’t able to book a table the day before, we didn’t have to wait for a table for 5.
It was my first visit to Dishoom and I wasn’t disappointed. Friendly attentive staff, a lovely venue with superb food.
I opted for a Wrestler’s Naan Roll which was top notch.
I will be visiting again.
P. D.
First time visit for Christmas lunch, buffet style, with friends. Food was great but service not so hot (though our server was a delightful person). Had to go to bar area to get somethings for our table. The buffet style meal was perhaps not worth £39 per head and three of us sharing a large single glass of ice cream at end was not good. We decided to pay the optional 12.5% service charge as its Xmas but perhaps would not have done so on another occasion. Mixed feelings overall but food was delicious.
J. S.
Faultless, staff and atmosphere are top drawer. Menu is reasonable and of course scrumptious
B. S.
Fantastic service, beautiful food, friendly servers. Overall a great experience! I've been a few times and expect to be back frequently in future. Everything was perfect.
A. J.
We went for the Christmas set menu and between 4 of us had 2 veggie and 2 meat.
There was a huge selection of meals and every flavour was amazing.
Our only regret was that we hadn't fasted for a day before going as it was so much food we didn't feel like we were able to eat enough. (But they did let us take some leftovers)
The staff were very helpful and understanding with one of our party as well so we were very grateful to them.
R. R.
I wish I knew our waiters name but I’ve forgotten them! But our first waiter was so personable, funny & attentive. She passed us over to our next waiter (as her shift was finishing) and he was just as brilliant! Food came out in a timely manner & my sour cocktail was one of the best I’ve had. Price is very reasonable for the quality of the food. It was my birthday so I had a little candle in my dessert to blow out and I was even given a “secret keychain” which allows me to play “the game”! Sounds incredibly fun & I cannot wait to go back.
H. J.
Brilliant addition to the Manchester restaurant scene. The gorgeous decor and attentive, friendly staff have successfully brought the unique Dishoom dining experience to the North. The signature 'Biryani Pie' is a clever homage to a quintessential Northern favourite mixed with authentic Indian flavours and aromatic spices - well worth a try!
m. p.
Great place, good food very cool deco. Great service from wait staff. And best thing is Bottomless Chai!
T. F.
Okra Fries is one of Dishoom’s Special starters and is a MUST. Manchester branch is famous for the pau phaji (chef special for appetiser) and lamb shank Nihari biryani (chef special for main). You don’t wanna miss trying those.
In addition, Chicken Ruby and Vegetable/lamb samosas are very delicious as well.
D. S. F. (.
Popular and busy so worth booking ahead. Can see why, food is excellent for a reasonable price. Great choice of drinks, waiter and service excellent. Big and atmospheric place with a good buzz.
P. J.
Had a couple of really good experiences here. Staff were great. Gets busy on the weekends and you will have to que, it's worth going off peak times to get a nice spot. The place is huge! Great food and drink at good prices.
S. S.
An authentic Indian restaurant in the heart of Manchester city serving the authentic north Indian taste. If you are keen to taste authentic Indian, this is the place. You might have to wait for 60-90 minutes but I bet, this place worth it. I would highly recommend their 'chai' and 'mutton curry'.
PS:- Keep an eye on extra service charge which is optional (10% of your bill) and you can request to remove it before any final payment.
K. E.
6 of us visited last night for a meal, and it was absolutely beautiful. Our waitress catered for allergies without so much as a grumble, patiently dealt with our indecisiveness despite being so bust, and was just all around polite. The food was delicious, service was fast, and drinks also lovely. Will definitely return!
a.
Best Indian I’ve ever had
L. E.
THE best brunch I have ever experienced. I had eggs in a nann. Asian style breakfast. It was totally amazing. Highly recommended. Brilliant venue. Excellent food and good service. I cannot wait to go back here
L. W.
Went to dinner twice here during my stay in Manchester. So wonderful. I couldn't help but eat the same food. While it was a bit of a pain waiting 20-35 minutes for the table (make reservations!), the people managing the line are so nice and fun to talk to, they make it less of a chore. Food here is phenomenal! I'm still trying to recreate the Chili Chicken (the recipe isn't in their cookbook, sadly).

Came here for breakfast with friends to celebrate a birthday, and the food was great. Would definitely come again for the breakfast naan.

Really great place, best service I have experienced in a long time, good food and great variety Definitely going back

Excellent food and wonderful staff.
I was so looking forward to eating here and I was truly not disappointed.
Don’t expect it to be like your ‘regular’ British Indian Restaurant, it is not like that, it is a wonderful ‘traditional’ Indian restaurant serving quality produced food.
I already have the cookbook and I haven’t stopped reading it today and planning what recipes to try.
I can highly recommend the House Chaat, Chilli Chicken, Paneer Tikka, the House Black Daal & the Chicken Ruby, and their chocolate mousse dessert is absolutely wonderful.
I’m already wishing I could return soon.
Thank you Dishoom for a meal to remember & thank you for the wonderful attentive service.

Food was lovely, it’s very similar to mowglis but a bit more expensive. The dining room was lovely and our waitress was great. Only not giving 5 stars as the drinks were on the expensive side for Manchester.

Superb all-round from start to finish . Best dining experience I've had in a long time.

It’s great to see that they have all standards as their London branch, very nice food and good team

Would give 4.5.
We only tried 2 dishes ( prawns from starter - amazing; creamy tomato chicken from mains- lovely too but for me didnt taste anything like indian. Might be just my taste. Other than that nice. Wine selection quite limited :(
Monica ( one of the waitresses) was the one who should be given 6 stars!! She was sooo helpful and thatnks to her our experience was really good!
Overall 4+ and we will definitely try again.

Great experience. The table was available for us. Waiter was wearing a mask, he was very polite and attentive. He asked us about any intolerances and allergies. There was a separate gluten and diary free menu available. Food and drinks were delicious! Especially the broccoli salad. It's a shame I didn't take pictures of all drinks and dishes. It was a good night and I recommend to try it out!

Dishoom has been high on my London list, so naturally it took a trip to Manchester to finally try it! All the hype is real. The breakfast naans are incredible. Go to Dishoom. Also order a chocolate chai when you’re there!

Incredible! Definitely a restaurant for special occasions due to its prices. But it is absolutely worth it! The service was prompt and friendly with the waiter explaining us the whole menu upon request and making some great recommendations. I loved the food style of sharing some dishes, like Indian tapas and everything was so deep in flavour. I was so full, but just couldn't stop eating! And of course, the location is nice too, lovely decor. Very cozy date night vibes. Loved it!

Absolutely fabulous evening, the food was delicious, the service impeccable, a special thanks to our waiter Marius who was fabulous. The ambience and cleanliness were second to none, wonderful evening!

Very nice variety of Indian street food. Nice ambiance and very nice service.

For me, Dishoom is the best Indian in Manchester. Nice setting, great service, delicious food.
Make sure to get the Manchester special biryani. Absolutely divine.

I loved the ambience and food! The decor is amazing. They've managed to get the finer details right. Everything I tasted was great and felt authentic.. vada pav, prawns koliwada and their chocolate pudding are my favs. Staff is very friendly! Georgia looked after us so well. I am definitely going back!

Excellent breakfast had at Dishoom Manchester. Breakfast naan roll with unlimited chai. Very delicious food. Excellent service and very traditional indian cafe ambiance- recommended! Now I need to try the London venues also!

Incredible, as always. Made particularly excellent by Sian, who went above and beyond. Everyone must go!

First visit the food is amazing but I would of enjoyed it more if I could read the menu as its so dark where we sat.Next time I will going the afternoon.

Had chicken biryani its absolutely amazing.
Well packed and mentioned their chefs names on package that's very cute.

Genuinely wonderful experience. The service and food were incredible. Can’t wait to return!

Excellent play for a ruby. Great service and a fab place to be in.

The best place for pan north Indian food in UK. Superb quality. Excellent ambience. Feels like a real Irani chai shop. The food was as good as back home. Pav bhaji could have done with a little more real masala. Please try importing from Mumbai and not use branded stuff.
Bhindi fry was an eye opener, who thought gummy okra could be crisped up so well! Brilliant prep.
The carnivores on the table went nuts on Chicken Malai Tikka and I believe it tasted better than all Mumbai eateries. The Awadhi biryani sent all of them into raptures and the lucknawi appreciation of Wah!Wah!
The kheema pav was as good as Cafe Good luck in Pune.
The dessert, kulfi on a stick, how I miss Ghaffar Market Delhi where we'd eat that all summer long living at Karol Bagh. Quality wise as good as Parsi dairy farm.
Heard that Dishoom was voted as the best Indian restaurant, can't grudge them that. They are indeed ,with excellent food and exceptional service.

Very good ambience with the old Bombay feel. But disappointed with the menu choices - especially vegetarian. Pay bhaji was a total failure. Naan and paneer curry were just ok. Had expected a lot more, but not to be.

Great food, recommend the small plates. Especially the lamb keema!
R. S.
Fabulous food, attentive staff, I had the lamb biryani (with pastry lid!) which I would highly recommend!! 😀😃

Got in straight away as a walk in. The lady who took our order was absolutely brilliant & super informative & the food came super quick and was delicious

This restaurant is really great. The food is delicious, the service is outstanding and the atmosphere in the restaurant is very unique for an Indian restaurant

Love this place. Excellent service every time. Spiky, sparky food. Great buzz at lunch.

The food is very lovely and very tasty. Pedro’s customer service is so great and excellent, never seen anyone with this energy and so much of love towards his job.
J. N.
Some of the best food I've had in years. Also the Dishoom book is a must read for all food lovers.

Lucky to be in for 10am on their first proper open day. Really enjoyed breakfast and the masala beans were awesome. The welcome was really friendly and we loved the interior. Looking forward to an evening visit.
S. F.
Had lovely breakfast. Liked the crossover of British and Indian cuisine.
K. H.
First visit had amazing breakfast snd attentive service. Highly recommended

A wide variety of authentic Indian food with even the drinks being of Indian quinine! My favourite was the Chilli Chicken small plate which was crispy and spicy with a hint of garlic, fire and tenderness!
S. N.
Great food and great ambience. Very friendly staff. Enjoyed very much.

Great venue and meal! Very professional and warm stuff. Alejandro, our waiter, is the best! We’d definitely come back to see him and enjoy the delicious food.

Fantastic food (do not miss their breakfast) and wonderful staff. Always such a treat!

Our first trip to the Manchester Dishoom & we were delighted! Fantastic restaurant, fantastic service & most of all, fantastic food!
L. I.
The best dining experience I have ever had. The place is beautiful and the food is amazing! All the members of staff were brilliant, in particular our server, Giada. The person with me had a few different dietary requirements and Giada went above and beyond to explain the Gluten Free and Lactose Free menus to us, highlighting the best dishes, fully answered all the questions we had and continuously reassured us that the kitchen was aware of the requirements. This is usually a stressful part of eating at a restaurant, but it was not at all at Dishoom. Overall a brilliant night. Please thank Giada for all her help, she is a credit to your business and is absolutely fabulous!

Possibly the best Indian food i've tried. Exceptional choices on the menu, really lovely ambience inside the place and the service was incredible. Definitely check out the Chef's special biryani, and worth going back for the breakfast too.

Cannot rate the staff last night highly enough. The girl on the door was just amazing and so was our waiter and all the other staff too. Fab food too!! Thank you for looking after us!
J. N.
Rate Dishoom as my favourite restaurant 😋 the food was out of the world. The biryani is delectable and the kebabs & curry's creamy and delicious.
Service is welcoming and brilliant. It reminds you of old Irani restaurant in Mumbai plus some yummy street food added.
We visited on two consecutive days and will surely go again soon.

The food was delicious and the staff were lovely and very helpful and would recommend to people

Lovely Atmosphere and good service. Drinks were nice but food was average. Even though we didn't wait long it seemed queues outside were unnecessary when they had plenty of tables available. Overall would recommend just make sure you book.
M. N.
The best Indian food I have had in the longest time.
J. M.
One of the best Indian restaurants I have ever eaten at!

Visited Manchester for 2 days and decided to give Dishoom a try to see if it lived up to its hype. It did. Amazing food and exceptional and friendly service.
I have allergies and I was very well taken care off, every precaution was taken to ensure the food was appropriate for me. Would recommend to visit the restaurant in the night, as the ambience is great with the dimmed lights and candles, a good choice for a date.
Would definitely visit again.

What can I say, it was absolutely amazing. The ambience was lovely, the service (by Alejandro and the rest of the crew) impeccable and the food to die for.
The nihari biryani was exquisitely flavoured, the black dal was exactly as it should be on a cold-grey day in January and the sheesh kebaabs were perfect.

Good fusion foods. Nostalgia atmosphere. Service impeccable.

Fabulous venue. The breakfast menu is gorgeous with plenty of variety from British staples with added Bombay (Mumbai) flair to the traditional. They have a great variety of chai, coffee, tea, fruit juices, mocktails and cocktails. The service is impeccable and the staff are very friendly and informative. Considering we visited the day the cricket had been cancelled and it was heaving the staff did not let the busy environment affect their service.
The photo I've added is of a bacon and egg naan. The naan has soured cream, chilli jam and herbs on it and was delicious. There are also vegan naan and other vegan breakfast options.

Always love going to Dishoom! Had the leg of lamb special. Wow, just delicious.
J. M.
I love Dishoom and always have a great time here. Food is always amazing, the atmosphere is vibrant and lively and the staff are so friendly and accommodating. On Sunday, I visited for breakfast. I am dairy/gluten intolerant which can be really difficult/stressful when eating out. On the lunch/dinner menu at Dishoom there are quite a few options for me. There are almost no breakfast options which I did not realise until I visited on Sunday. The waitress was extremely helpful, and finally managed to work something out with the kitchen staff so I could eat. I was really grateful to her. I realise that Dishoom offers an authentic experience with a twist and undoubtedly many recipes would not be the same without dairy/gluten but perhaps a couple of additional breakfast items for people with these intolerances would provide even more people the chance to eat here.
M. S.
Amazing place and food but the staff really made our morning!! Thank you Bex & Dan!!
A. C.
Really interesting place - great food! A hybridisation of Indian street food with a modern twist is my attempt to describe it. Will happily go back again, though they would need to expand the vegan options! The food was delicious though! The staff were fabulous / very knowledgeable about the food offer and best combinations. The building and décor were fabulous too. The only (very minor!) draw back was the dim lighting, which added to a lovely ambience, meant we had to switch on mobile phone torches to read the menu!
