Visited 04/03/2022, clean and airy space, very attentive and friendly staff. As part of the platter I personally loved the crispy thin pieces of lamb and chicken (almost like a donner done on a flat plate, lovely!). The tasty starter Turkish bread you get can fill up quite quickly as it’s made fresh and tastes amazing and with the various dips is a course in itself. One of our party had an allergy and the staff were accommodating with ensuring the meal came without the ingredient they were allergic to. Parking in the area is a little difficult so be prepared to park a little bit away and walk as it’s in the main road (unless you get dropped off/picked up). This is definitely one of those places to go back to, and the jumbo platter looks from the picture not much but the depth to it is huge and luckily able to take the rest home to polish off is a win win ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My go to place at the moment for Turkish food. Really nice food at good prices with good customer service to match. The hot baklava dessert with ice cream is now my favorite dessert and I don't even like baklava. Would literally travel here for that dessert alone. Highly recommended.

If you are going on a weekend then booking is essential to avoid the queue of people waiting to be seated. Don't pay much attention to the negative reviews and try the place yourself. Visited Istanbul on a Saturday and found it absolutely packed but got seated within 10 minutes of arriving luckily due to booking in advance avoiding over a dozen people waiting half inside and half out. The staff were very efficient, placed our order and expecting to wait a long time due to the number of customers but were pleasantly surprised as the food arrived within 15 minutes and the rest is history. Just get there, order, and tuck in; bon appetite 😋

A lovely large and spacious Turkish restaurant. Came with my brothers from Manchester. The arrival wait was short and we were quickly allocated a table. Menu came quick and the waitress was very friendly. Starters came very quickly and our orders were taken quickly again by another friendly and polite waitress. We order a full platter with sides, cocktail drinks which arrived very fast and the food was beautifully presented, fresh, hot and tasty. Really enjoyed the food and drink. We ordered desert and I had a Sultac Turkish rice pudding desert. Was expecting it hot but came cold and told thats how it comes, regardless was yummy and tasty. Overall a great place, great space, buzzing with people and the food, drink and desert was excellent. Will come again soon on my next visit.

One of the best Turkish restaurant in the area. Beautiful seating hall. The seating area is very big but it was even on Wednesday afternoon. But we didn't have to wait. The food was absolutely delicious. Portion sizes are big. Other than Hummas everything was so delicious. I won't recommend Hummas from this place. Very friendly and polite staff. And service was fast as well. No dedicated parking

Well what can I say. I usually visit Kervan Sofrasi in London for Turkish food. I thought there was no restraunt like this until I found Istanbul restraunt. The staff were really nice and proactive. The food came in really good time and was really fresh and amazing. The salad was really fresh and the bread was just to die for. If anyone hasn't tried Istanbul Restraunt then I would definitely recommend. My wife and I loved really enjoyed it. The parking is all side street parking which isn't too bad as there's lots of places to park. All in all 10/10 from me. We will definitely be coming back inshallah.

Went with around 7 of us, worked out around £25 per person which is decent and affordable, food was good quality and freshly made, the kebabs had a nice Smokey flavour with them which was amazing. Customer service was excellent, would come again.

Good Turkish food. The place is very large and busy. Even though we had booked a table for 18 people for a set time we had to wait 20 mins in the tiny waiting area near the door. I would recommend turning up about 30 mins early. The food is your typical Turkish cuisine. Cheap but good quality food. The environment is good for families with little kids.

Wow. Just tried this place for the 1st time today (Sunday afternoon) We had the mixed grill for 2 and it was AMAZING Beautiful succulent meats cooked to perfection and super fresh crisp salads with soft beautifully cooked rice and breads. The dips on the side complement the meat beautifully. I would highly recommend you give this place a try.

Visited this restaurant with my sister and her friend. Yeah third wheeling. Anyway, the layout of the restaurant was nice. There were plenty of servers to order from. We ordered a Lahmacun to share and the Mix Kebab for 1 each. I ordered it with rice and I was a little disappointed that it was plain rice. The Lahmacun tasted very nice and the kebabs were very filling.

Came here with a friend and had a sharing plater, place doesn't serve Alcohol for anyone that is interested and the regular drinks are small size in my opinion, the food is very flavourful only think that I can complain about is the orange barely/rice combination on the plater it was really dry, service was very fast even after they got really bussy.

We went there on a busy Saturday afternoon. The restaurant is quite big and the tables are not on top of each other so you are not disturbed by other customers. The food was good and tasty. However, our minor criticism was that the waiting staff was inattentive to our table and seemed inexperienced. Big shout out to Bahadır who resolved our issue and made sure we had a good experience.

Went for iftar on a Saturday evening. Got to the restaurant at 8.10pm. Iftar at 8.29pm. Was seated at 8.20pm. Dates were provided. However, we didn’t receive water till about 25 mins after iftar which was abit of an inconvenience as the table next to us who were seated similar time to us had theirs. The portion of lamb doner and chicken shish was very small however it was just right for a fasting person. Outside of Ramadhan i would definitely be expecting more. Food was delicious however including the complimentary bread with that amazing garlic sauce. Very spacious inside but the tables are crammed together making it difficult to have conversation. Would go back again to try other things on the menu as the food was very good.

Even if you are used to eat only once a day, be warned: portions are enormous! The typical white bread and a selection of olives, Zaziki and hot pepper salad come for free, add this to a main course like a plate of grilled vegetables which comes with rice andi a mixed salad - and voila, the table is full of plates! The food is really good, every thing tastes fresh and tasty. There at least five vegetarian main courses on the menu. When it comes to desert, you find the typical Turkish goodies. Baklava isn't simply accompanied by ice cream, the baklava top layer is opened are your table, filled with the ice cream and then hacked into practical pieces! The staff is friendly and service is really quick. All at very reasonable prices. Seems to be one of the best choices on Chetham Hill. A clear recommendation!

This is a magnificent restaurant in a slightly rough area. The food was delicious and made me want to visit Turkey even more. The staff were quite friendly and attentive. Visited @istanbulmcr … 📍 2 Bury Old Rd, Manchester M8 9JN .. this trip was literally planned a hour before I came and did not disappoint! 😏 Ordered Adana Kofta Kebab Wrap (£7.00) & Chicken Kofta Wrap (£7.00) .. best Turkish place i’ve ever been too in the whole UK the food is 10/10 and has a unique taste to other Turkish spots! I will defo be coming back and trying out more of the menu 😍

Large restaurant, ideal for big gatherings and families, nice atmosphere. Second time visiting and tried the Istanbul special dishes, which I would not recommend such as the lamb shank which was bland and most dishes were overpowered with tangy yogurt and tomato sauce. Grilled dishes are really good, particularly the shish. Platter prices have hiked a lot and seem overpriced. Sea Bass was lightly seasoned but nice. Halloumi starter was let down too. Service was attentive, booking over the phone was a little bit difficult.

Wow!! Customer service was excellent. They where very fast and efficient. It was very busy but we did not wait longer than 15/20 minutes for food. All the food cane was fresh and tasty. The supplied us with a free basket of bread and dips whilst we waited. Only down side was when we came paying via card, they only had one machine so we had to wait 5/10 minutes just to pay. They did offer us complimentary tea whilst we waited. I would deffo return! Food was authentically Turkish!!!

Excellent food without a doubt. Comparatively excellent service. 5 stars all around. The only thing you need to be mindful is lack of parking nearby and stupid bus lane right in front of the restaurant. Menu is great. Had a jumbo platter, finished with dessert and Turkish tea. Lively place, hummus was good and the complimentary breads were nice too.the tall manager was very attentive the only reason for a 3 star is the lamb ribs and the kebabs on the mix platter. They were extremely chewy and the garlic prawns are actually tomato flavoured.

I have been to many popular Turkish restaurants but my most favourite is Selale and Harringey, London. Voted best value restaurant years after years and of course for a good reason. We heard good things about Istanbul and reviews are good too. And of course for obvious reasons. But I felt like there was nothing extraordinary about this place. Nothing that made us drop our jaw or even be pleasantly surprised about. The price is a bit high for the quality of food and service. However, I will give 100% praise to the hard working floor staff. Working so hard under such pressure! The complimentary bread was really excellent. But that was it. Grills, platters, salads, deserts were merely ordinary and I will not miss it or be compelled to visit Cheetam Hill for that food. I guess there is little competition in Manchester for Turkish Restaurants. Hence with such ordinary menu Istanbul is soaring high!!

This place has restored my belief in Turkish food! Most Turkish places I've been to including in Turkey itself (Marmaras) has been bland and not worth talking about. Lovely place. Came across here by change. Staff are so nice. Place is fairly big. Food counter on display so you know everything is fresh. All authentic Turkish food. Freshly made to order. A good place for a group of you to get the share platter. Only downside is parking. You need to look for side street as its on main road . But other than that. I recommend it

Food was nice, only complaint is that they were not following social distancing properly, some of the groups of people were too big almost 10 to 12 people. Other major issue was the servers and waiters, some of them were wearing masks and some of them don't and some of them had their noses out of the mask which beats the purpose. Would have been ideal if every waiter was wearing mask. The cutlery and the plates were really worn out, old and cheap which may not bother many people but I didn't like the cheap plastic plates. Food was nice. Cold mezze were on point. We ordered platter for 4 all the food was nice except for ribs which had more fat than meat could have been better with chops. Otherwise staff was really nice they looked after us. A very nice place to go.

Very authentic Turkish food, if you like your spices and flavour you may find this restaurant a little bland, the salads here are very nice and complimentary bread and sauces are provided. Istanbul is one of our favourite restaurants. It gets pretty busy at times and you may need to wait a while. The staff are friendly and food is delicious. You get starters like bread and dips as you wait for your food. The bread is delicious soft and fluffy. The only issue is not being able to park close by as it is on a main road which may be difficult for some people with children or elderly.

Wow. What a surprise. Had been to ethihad stadium superstore and was looking for somewhere different to eat. Smelt the food aromas coming out of the restaurant and we decided we would give it a try. Did not disappoint. Had the hot meze starter between 3 of us and we all had the Falafel and hummus wraps. Beautiful, fresh and tasty flavours. Despite living 40 miles away, I will travel back to this place. Superb.

~ I S T A N B U L R E S T A U R A N T ~ @istanbulrestaurantmanchester a fairly new Turkish restaurant in the heart of Cheetham Hill, a great spot for the Turkish Food lovers 😍 We were welcomed by the staff and taken to our socially distanced table (I kinda like it how it is now 😂👀) We ordered the Sucuk from the Hot Mezzes section, if you’ve been Turkey, these go down really well, a favourite! The Sucuk was spiced and tasted great, it was a little on the tough side as it is usually softer, but went down well with the mint sauce that came with it 🤤 For mains, we had the Mix Grill and the Mixed Iskender both with rice 👀 The mix grill meat was grilled to perfection, it wasn’t too oily or greasy, it was a little high on the salt side, but wasn’t too much to put us off, the flavour was amazing, sand if Turkish food is something you enjoy, this could be a winner! The rice was a little bland from what I’ve experienced in the past, but still went well with the grill 🤤 The Iskender was tried by my brother: here’s his take: First of all I didn’t have much expectation with Turkish food because I know how well their tastes majority of the time, what I ordered from Istanbul Restaurant was the mixed iskender which was was a mixture of lamb and beef but shredded on top of a soft bread marinated with a rich tomato sauce with the addition of yogurt on the side, the meat itself was very high quality so it really stood out and complemented everything. The yogurt can be a little sour however it had a rich creamy tasting texture which went well. I still very much enjoyed it 🔥🤤 To drink: we had the Turkish imported Orangeade, it was 🔥🔥 The staff was helpful in helping us lookout for what we wanted in the menu and recommended the nice drinks, great service, thank you! I'm not a fan of grills, I love my sauces and spice. But here the meat was tender and succulent and juicy. We ordered the jumbo platter which came with three starters, various lamb and chicken meats and kebabs on a bed of bulgar wheat and white rice. Everything was beautifully cooked and presented. Was not as bland as i expected the salad and sauces gave that extra flavour. The service was good too. We were a party of 11 and had to wait for part of the party to arrive. We were seated and given menus, then asked if we needed help ordering. Our server Ismail I think he was call was very helpful and explained what each dish was and what it was made from. Very clean and welcoming place to spend the evening with the family. My one advise to them would be to hire an fluent english speaking and understanding servers. Our server was really good but the girl who took out drinks order, just didnt understand what we wanted. Thankyou Istanbul restaurant for the wonderful food, the amazing atmosphere and the attentive service even at your busiest of times.. Will surely be returning soon.

Went for an evening meal with family here on Saturday. Ordered hummous.The naan bread arrived but no hummous for ages until we asked where the hummous was. For starter we ordered the mixed platter starter which was nicely presented but no sauces were served with it. Ordered the mains platter for two and again no sauces arrived. The trio of condiments on the table from the start were supposed to go with everything you order but this clearly was not enough and furthermore these should have small teaspoons for serving. Overall nice meal. Service needs to be somewhat improved.

Came across this restaurant randomly as I was in Manchester, so glad I didn't eat anywhere else first as it was so nice. The restaurant was big enough to cater for parties if needed, it was very tidy and organises too. The food was tasty, they had nice staff and my girlfriend noticed that the toilets were very clean too. There was a lovely dark haired waitress who was patient and polite to an awkward customer and had a great memory for a table of orders. I watched her ability to take the table and it was flawless. If she worked for me, I'd happily pay her accordingly to her work standard. Very well done madam. It was a pleasure being served by you.

The place is quite spacious and even busy midweek. Lots of families and a good environment not too noisy and not too many happy birthdays. The food is as expected. There are certain surprises amongst the starters. Portion sizes are quite good and it seems that a lot of people would either over order or would at least be taking food home when they have been eating in. It is helpful to phone ahead and book as sometimes there can be a bit of a wait. It appears that big groups do tend to enjoy attending but these are families rather than just lots of work collections. The interior is quite well spaced out so you don't feel too cramped even when the place is quite busy. Service is normally fairly efficient and you can see most of what is being cooked from the open kitchen. One word of warning that if you do go for the cheese and chips realize that this is grated cheese on top of chips and you may need to ask them to make sure the cheese is melted if that is your preference. Otherwise the kebabs were really nice, the hummus whilst not totally smooth is very good with the bread and it is nice to actually see a good size salad being given with the main course. Tables even for just two people are quite a good size so that you have enough space to put all the food. One suggestion would be that it would be nice to get some Coca-Cola zero rather than just only having the option of diet coke or normal full fat. Parking is available in the streets around however it would be nice if there was a bigger car park that you could access just for this place as the area is becoming much more busier. But cheatham Hill is quite bustling and disappears to be a mainstay.

As a person who lived in Turkey for two years, then moved to the UK, I’ve been looking for a proper Turkish food, in every Turkish restaurant I can find in Manchester but nothing seemed to be even close to the food I’ve had in Turkey, UNTIL I found this hidden gem!! Proper authentic Turkish food, reminded me of the food of the local Turkish restaurants in Izmir, fresh, and the meat is extremely tender and juicy (can compare it to the famous Almadina restaurant in Istanbul)+ bulgur and rice were spot on, the staff is extremely friendly and felt so nostalgic since they spoke Turkish in addition to English 😃 also some staff members spoke Arabic, so what I’m trying to say here, that communication between customers and staff members was extremely comfortable and made the experience extra special. Highly recommend, we loved the mix grill, sigara böreği, lahmacun , lentil soup , pilav and bulgur. Turkish tea (demlemek çay) was given to us as (ikram) which was so nice of them, will definitely come back with my friends.

Very popular and busy Turkish restaurant but really spacious inside. If going for Iftar you should come at least 45 minutes early. Has a small prayer space upstairs which is good but not private. Mixed grill is good value. I would like more meat and maybe lamb chops. My favourite items were the shawarma, chicken and lamb kebabs. Wasn’t a fan of the ribs, not very flavourful and too tough. Mezze and bread is great as well. Overall for Manchester it’s probably one of the best Turkish restaurants

We had a delightful family meal here yesterday. Social distancing, sanitisation and mask guidelines all properly adhered to. Very attentive staff and gorgeous food. Everything was amazing. The garlic sauce is on another level. My only regret was not getting dessert but we were too full! The menu is huge and makes it a challenging task choosing what you'd like as everything sounds incredible. I would definitely recommend the lamb wrapped in aubergine, really tender meat.

The main gentleman we spoke with upon enquiry was really helpful: Aamir, turns out he was the manager or someone senior, he was attentive to all and it turned out he was the best for customer service all evening. Yes food is a little pricey, but food is authentic and with Aamirs service - we felt it seemed justified, I'd recommend the platters - the platters for 2 can feed 4 if you want to get a taste for flavours. We'll be coming back.

The food was good, the restaurant is lovely, there was a buzz in the atmosphere due to Ramadan and it was very busy. Initially there was chaos and staff were clearly overwhelmed/inexperienced. We waited patiently for 25 minutes for a table when there were clearly empty tables in front of us, Once highlighting our disappointment with the manager we were seated and order was taken and served promptly. Food was good- we recommend the hummus starter and lamb chops main. I think this would be a great place to dine with family once the staff get a bit more experience and the business is a bit more established.

Lovely meal and service. Prices are about right for what you're getting I would say, certainly not cheap. My friend and I ordered the platter which was for 3-4 people. We had a little more than half and are both big meat eaters. Service was not perfect, but nothing to really complain about. (Had to wait a while for the additional meze salad we ordered in the middle of our meal) Initial wait time was good, and the service staff were not too intrusive but did come and ask us if we needed any help from time to time. Our bill was just short of £63 for the platter, additional salad and bottle of water.

High quality and flavoursome food, the lamb chops especially (they actually use lamb, unlike many other restaurants that use mutton and brand it as lamb). A little on the expensive side, but well worth it for the food and everything that comes with it. Service was excellent, staff were friendly, the tall waiter with the black mask and long hair was especially helpful, did everything he could to make our time worthwhile, above and beyond what you'd expect from staff at a restaurant.

I ordered full platter at £59 to find lamb chops and chicken wings were replaced by normal chicken pieces. Went here with a few mates a few days ago. Looks great from the outside and inside but it’s a shame that food lets them down. We ordered a mix of items off the menu, so we could get a good idea of how good the chefs are at this place. I would give them 6/10 on taste, but the temperature of the food was completely wrong. All the items that were supposed to be hot were just slightly warmer than room temperature so was not pleased about that. Probably why they didn’t taste too great either.

It's the first time going into Istanbul Restaurant as I've been recommended this establishment for a very long time now. Today's been the lucky day that I've managed to step into it and it is probably by far the most authentic restaurant that actually cook authentic Turkish food. The food is seen being cooked freshly in front of you, its very spacious and has a good positive vibe to it. Can't go wrong here when looking for something to eat that's not at your typical local restaurant. Very unique in its own way and I will recommend this to anyone willing to try out new foods. The prices are very good too comparing to the portion sizes. I would come again whenever the chance arrives.

Top food man, been a couple times

Went in on a Thursday afternoon with my family. First impressions were very good. Clean and pretty busy. We were promptly sat down and our order was taken within 10 minutes. We ordered the hummus and falafel for starters with chops meal and a platter for 2. Starters were lovely and the main course was excellent. However the gentleman that took our order and brought our food looked a little miserable like he didn’t want to be there. The other members of staff were very nice and polite especially one of the female employees who packed our food at the end. One recommendation I could make is having sauces with the food. Otherwise I will definitely come back.

We turned up without a booking and knew we were going to have to wait, which is fine. We were told the wait would be about 15 minutes - half an hour later, we were still waiting and some similar sized parties had been seated. When we questioned how they got ahead and seated first, the response was, I don't know who gave them a table. Once we were seated, everything was fine. If Istanbul had a guest ordering system in place to arrange guests after booking, it would have been a much more pleasant experience

We were very excited to visit the new restaurant but I'm afraid service was below average. We really liked the salmon but chicken and lamb dishes didn't impress. Also the size of rice on each plate was tiny, my 3 year old wasn't full with it (and she is not a good eater). We had to ask 5 time for our drinks, brought after we almost finished the food... Deserts arrived so frozen that it was impossible to put a spoon in it. I would come back for a quick salmon lunch but would definitely not recommend as dinner. Looks flashy and posh from outside but didn't live up to my expectations.
