Reviews of Proost
F. L.
We booked this without seeing any reviews, what a lovely little restaurant.
The menu is small but we liked that aspect.
Food came out in good pacing, I would recommend the cod loin and squid ink risotto. Everything had flavour and the right portions.
S. B.
I had the pate starter, the only complaint was that the toast was toothbreaking, not recommended if you have sensitive teeth. The fish starter was really good. We both had lamb roast and I must say that they were the best roast potatoes, I would give that roast a 9/10, it was scrumptious.

Eaten here many times in the past few years food and service has always been very good. Most recent visit it was perfect.

2nd visit to Proost. Nice, relaxed atmosphere with a bistro style menu. Duck was lovely, highly recommend.
Small venue but great for a mid-week get together, or last minute meal out. Staff were very friendly.
Worth a trip if looking for a change from a chain.
K. J.
Amazing roast. Great customer service. Only roast I've had that's better than homemade. I love having this place on the doorstep. Really kid friendly, not in a soft play way, just friendly staff and excellent kids menu options.

UPDATED Review: **Addition of a vegan menu is excellent. Great to have options and all the dishes were well conceived and cooked. Staff very knowledgeable and helpful too.**
Originally posted: It's good to see a different offering in Urmston, away from pizza, small plates and burgers. Nice little place with maybe 25 covers, French style food cooked well. Good change of pace if you fancy something a little more in the way of classical dining. We all enjoyed the food but the menu was limited, hopefully it will be rotated often. Good service, friendly and professional. Nice addition to the local area.

Very good food, lovely atmosphere. We had a great time here at lunch over the weekend. The young lady who was serving is was a delight. We will definitely return
L. B.
Food is delicious. 4 of us ate, 2 had the Sunday dinner which they said was delicious, I had the Cod, yum yum and a vegetarian meal also delicious.
Service & Staff were great ❤️

Been twice and both times have been spot on. Good service, fresh food from a small but well put together menu. Quite expensive but the food and experience certainly warrant this.

We have visited on many occasions for Dinner and Sunday lunch. Fantastic food and service everytime. All staff are great very welcoming, they even rang to say we'd forgotten to take our bottle of wine and offered to drop it off at our house, massive thankyou to Megan for doing this , lovely, polite girl 😊 I'd give ten stars if I could. Highly recommended this restaurant 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

First visit and couldn't be more impressed. Friendly staff looked after us brilliantly. After hearing good things about proost I knew the food was going to be good but it was even better than expected. I must add a special mention to the onion soup which was the best soup I have ever had. We had the full three courses and left very happy and very full. We tried a few of the cocktails from the vast drinks menu and each one was delicious. Thankyou and we will be back.

Our first visit to Proost and it will not be the last !
The food is absolutely fabulous and I can highly recommend the king prawns starter followed by the succulent lamb .
The service is excellent and a good selection of drinks .
M. D.
Fantastic food, great service. First visit and will definitely be back again . Only disappointment was the onion soup I had heard so much about wasn't on the dinner menu
G. N.
Saturday lunchtime with a tapas menu. Food and service were great with some delicious non-spanish items. Not many customers. Deserves our support.
Ps. Background music was good too.
N. R.
Went for lunch and upon seeing the menu wanted EVERYTHING! The food was beautiful, staff were great great value for money. An asset to Urmston! Thank you, we will be back!!
P. R.
Great food, excellent service. Friendly helpful staff. Wonderful music all night.
G.
Lovely restaurant with great food and excellent selection of continental beers. Only criticism its a bit bright and therefore not as atmospheric as it could be.
K. S.
What a great restaurant!
Fantastic dinner - The French Onion Soup was perfect, with a Lamb roast for main. Little one was catered for with a nice selection of mains, too, including a Roast Dinner with Sausages (Sunday menu). The drinks menu generally was very good, but special mention must go to the Belgian Beer section, which was a rare treat!
Service was excellent, with the staff always on hand to get whatever you need, despite it being busy.
K. D.
Food was fantastic! Service was also very good! It's a small so book online in advance (same day is usually OK).

The best place to eat in Urmston at the minute. Generous delicious portions of really rich hearty food. And the atmosphere and aesthetic is absolutely in keeping with the whole experience. Honestly this is a great place to eat a proper good quality meal. And there's an awesome selection of Belgian beers to be had. The wine is also really reasonably priced. Staff are boss too. Glad this place is in Urmston.
B. M.
Lovely food and excellent service. Highly recommended. Will definitely be back.

Its just ok
I dont understand the other rave reviews for the food .
I'm afraid the food is underwhelming
For prices £17 for main meal I was excited to go thinking we have our own little Bistro in urmston to rival the likes Fat loaf in Sale .
Unfortunately this is not the case
The French onion soup had good depth of flavour but let down by the fact it was lukewarm and the gruyere crouton was small thin and only covered 25% of the surface of the soup.
The mushroom Wellington again had a nice flavour but the accompaniments and the salmon main dish and its accompaniments were unremarkable
The pannacotta was rubbery and tasteless , thank goodness for the sauce and little hit of drambuie
The service the servers and the resturant itself is really quite lovely and for that reason alone I give it 4 stars
The food needs step up a notch or the prices need to drop a notch .
I will keep a look out for menu changes and may try again in a few months as
I really really want it to work . But for the price I paid I was really disappointed.
G. T.
Really good without being pretentious. Instead the quality of the food, drink and service does the talking. Reminds me of bistros on the continent. Liked the cosy chilled vibe. The young lady serving us today was fantastic. Impeccable service and warm and friendly. Sounds simple but rarely achieved in so many establishments.
L. W.
Excellent! I've literally been searching the entire North West for the perfect Vegetarian Sunday Roast and I've finally found it. Staff were super friendly. The prices are great. The venue is nice and intimate... there is literally nothing not to love about this place... 101 stars...See you next Sunday guys 🙌 x

We had a very enjoyable meal at Proost - with great food and friendly service. The food has a Belgian style, and although the range of choice on the menu is not massive, the quality of the cooking and presentation is really high. They have a good range of Belgian beers as well. We were both very impressed and will definitely return.
D. P.
What a warm, welcoming restaurant this is. From the minute we stepped in the door we felt comfortable. The service, the food and the ambience is the best we've had in a long time (if ever) and excellent value for money too. It's a small, cosy restaurant but the tables are positioned so well, you don't feel packed in at all. Book in advance.

I visited tonight with my partner and friends after a previous great 1st visit with girl friends. We had a fantastic meal and lovely night served by friendly staff and a lovely little touch with them putting a 50 balloon at our table for my birthday. Another really lovely visit.
C. T.
Visited proost last night with some very good friends. I can honestly say this is one of the best meals we have had in Urmston. The food and the service were outstanding, we never felt rushed and were looked after extremely well. I can't recommend this restaurant enough. Right from booking to paying the bill was a pleasure with excellent customer service. We are lucky to have this restaurant in Urmston.
P. R.
Went to Proost tonight for the first time it will definitely not be the last great food very attentive staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly if you haven’t been try it highly recommended.
L. O.
Great service, amazing food. Highly recommend!
H. G.
Absolutely top class food, with knowledgeable staff and a wonderful atmosphere. We're very proud to have such a lovely hidden gem of a restaurant in Urmston.
J. N.
First trip there this evening and it was excellent. First and foremost, the food was delicious; we couldn't fault it and the portion sizes were generous too. The service was friendly, helpful and staff knowledgeable about the dishes. A genuinely great little restaurant and we'll definitely be back.
D. S.
Brilliant visit to proost in urmston, a lovely, clean well presented resturant with friendly staff, the food was cooked to perfection and had ao many flavours, head chef introduced himself and gave me the chance to compliment his food, will certainly be visiting again.
J. H.
Visited Proost on Sunday for dinner. Was really impressed with menu choice & course prices. Generous portion size, the taste was divine. Extensive wine & Belgium beer/lager list. Friendly, yet professional staff. The atmosphere was relaxed, good music choice playing in the back ground. Felt very safe under current covid restrictions. Thank you, we shall certainly return to Proost with our friends & family in the future.
J. M. M.
The setting, service etc are all fantastic and the food is really good - but just that little bit shy of a 5*. Lot of panko breaded starters didn't give a high end feel and my pie main was good but afterwards I was left thinking, I'd the mash was on the side and a pastry lid on that and the chips had come with it rather than a side order and there were more than 6 chips that's be great. Dessert was nice but lacked body (black forest mousse) - drinks selection was superb.
s. h.
Service was exceptional and the food certainly did not disappoint. Great selection of drinks and the food was delicious from starter to dessert.
This place is not to be missed and an absolute credit to the area.
B.
Excellent meal, friendly accommodating staff, reasonable price with some excellent offers on respect of vouchers. Sunday lunch worth trying.
H. C.
Excellent restaurant with a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Amazing food choose. We all tried something different so we could share. All of the food was excellent quality. Bakewell tart was the best I have even tasted. Very reasonably priced. Excellent variety of wines and beers at very reasonable prices. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Would highly recommend a visit. Will definitely be returning.
Thank you .
K. F.
Just had the 3 course Sunday dinner. The food was amazing. If you haven't been you must give it a try. Lovely atmosphere and staff.

Popped down on 6/6. Attentive service, great food and smashing Belgium beers selection.
Thank you Proost

Came here last night for dinner for my partners birthday. Really couldn't fault it, food was delicious and service excellent and attentive. One of the nicest meals we've had for a while. We'll be back soon
H. J.
Food is consistently excellent and there's always such a lovely welcome for my young family. The beer is some of the best around too.
J. C.
Excellent good food brilliant staff will be back
B. D.
Went last night for dinner. Really friendly front of house. It was a touch disorganised due to staff calling in sick, but they did their best. The food was superb. Nothing clever or cool or new, but really good ingredients cooked extremely well. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will go back again soon.
J. F.
This restaurant is AMAZING there were 4 of us we all had the lamb roast it was beautiful as was the draught beer we had the Belgian draught it went down way too quick, and the owners were so friendly, I would highly recommend this place 👍
N. W.
We have eaten here a few times over the last few months, it has always been excellent for food and service. I would definitely recommend and will be returning. Thanks

Amazing food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. What more could you ask for?1

Proost is the latest addition to the Urmston dining scene and is a real stand-out. It's a tiny place with maybe thirty seats, so booking is advisable. Most of the tables are set for two or four diners but we were led to a table for six (we'd booked a table for two) and then later in the evening another couple were seated at the opposite end, which felt a bit odd.
The menu is tiny with only a handful of dishes to choose from - whereas the wine list spans multiple pages the food menu fits on half a side of A4. For our starters we had the leek and St Agur tartlet, and the cheese and Leffe croquettes. Both were delicious, but my wife said her croquettes tasted like chicken. We mentioned this to the waitress who said "ah, that's where the confusion was," and admitted that another table had ordered the chicken croquettes and received the cheese ones in error. Not to worry - they were delicious anyway. For our main courses my wife ordered the Toulouse sausage with mashed potato, onion ring and onion gravy, and I went for the chicken in white wine, cream and cognac sauce. The chicken was incredibly tender, falling apart as I pushed my fork into it, and was delicious. The sausage dish was also lovely, like a very upmarket gastropub sausage & mash! My wife was too full for a dessert, but I ordered the Baileys creme brulee (she had a bit of it too) and it was lovely. The two slight issues aside (the wrong croquettes and the strange table arrangement) it was a lovely meal, and we'll definitely be going back soon.
J. T.
Great local restaurant. Excellent menu and service. Unfortunately crumble on apple crumble was so hard it damaged a filling, otherwise would have been 5 star.
N. W.
The Lamb was exquisite! The service was great too.
H. B.
Excellent food. Best rare beef in ages. Delightful staff who joined in our inane batter with a smile. Would revisit
R. F.
Decent atmosphere and food is decent enough, however, if you want a steak done what you would call 'rare' anywhere else you need to ask for it blue here because you'll get medium at best.
R. A.
Great selection of beers. Really lovely food and service as well...Definitely returning!
R. H.
Absolute game-changer for Urmston.
We met friends for food and before we even had a chance to look at the menu, they’d already commented on how good the service was.
A proper coat check seems to be a thing of the past but it’s the first things these guys do when you arrive and give you a clever little key for your coats.
The menu is concise and very much a less is more type of menu as what is on offer is just incredible, with specials to launch in the near future we were told. A blue steak was cooked to perfection which is the sign of a really good kitchen and quality chef.
Dessert looked incredible so we will definitely be back to try those.
Great to hear plans for themed menu nights and specialist beer nights on the horizon very soon too - this is just what Urmston needed and truly recommend a visit.
L.
A welcomed new addition to Urmstons thriving food establishments. Proost - Cheers!
I was keen to sample the menu upon hearing of Urmstons newist restaurant, and it didn't disappoint.
The up-market restaurant with its tasteful decor, and relaxed atmosphere, the staff if not a little nervous, we're welcoming and attentive, the menu had a small but great selection; something for everyone, and a fantastic selection of wines and beers.
The food, was cooked beautifully, a few little tweaks needed, for example I'd be tempted to serve the prawn starter (aka - prawn star martini - £7) with the sauce on the side as by time they hit the table the batter was a little soggy, and the sweet chilli a little over powering, definitely forgivable as the prawns themselves were plump and juicy. We were a little disappointed as they had ran out of both the croquettes starters and this was definitely on our list to try. It just means we'll be coming back to try these!
For mains we went for the fillet steak (£20) with a brandy & peppercorn sauce, we were given a blue cheese sauce but this was rectified quickly and efficiently; the steak was cooked to perfection, we just needed a bigger jug of sauce! This was accompanied with crispy chunky chips, slow roasted Tomatoes and a beer battered onion ring.
Our other main, the chicken breast in cognac, mustard and cream sauce (£16) this was accompanied with dauphinoise potatoes and a pea francaise, I think I can say I have never eaten a softer piece of chicken breast, my fork melted in to it as it soaked up the creamy sauce, my only criticism would be presentation; it just needed a bit of finesse, but it did not take anything away from the marriage of flavours on the plate.
We were so full but keen to try dessert so we chose to share the Baileys Creme Brulee (£5) thankfully we had a teaspoon on the table as the dessert spoons were so big, we could have eaten the Brulee in two spoonfuls, we definitely wanted too. This is one of the nicest Creme Brulee's I've ever eaten, and I have eaten a lot! The perfect amount of Baileys, so it didn't steal the show but let you know there was a very generous glug in there with the creamy set custard and crunch of burnt sugar, this definitely left us wanting to come back for more.
Proost is a real treat for Urmston, and I love the fact it is open Saturday & Sunday lunch time as this is something Urmston has been crying out for. I for one am looking forward to working my way through the rest of the dishes on the menu.
Thank you for a lovely meal, good luck with your new venture!
