Great and delicious Spanish foods, the seafoods are so fresh. Lovely and friendly staff, nice place for dinner and lunch! There's both downstairs and upstairs table both with great views, inside is spacious and beautifully decorated with many and various option of foods and drinks, the toilet is upstairs it very clean and pretty and there's also some private room suitable for business dinner.

Arrived here for lunch on a weekend. It was relatively quiet but it was good to see that they still had a lot of staff and offered good customer service. The dishes are best shared and I would recommend around 6-7 dishes between two people. The food came out as and when, but all arrived relatively quickly. While the restaurant advertises itself as traditional Catalan food, the menu suggests otherwise. Some of the dishes we ordered (like the beef brisket bao buns and the mussels with Thai flavours) certainly has some influences from other cuisines. And if I'm honest, while not terrible in any way, those two dishes above were probably their weakest dishes. Their standout dishes were their Iberian Ham Croqueta and Duck Egg - Baby Squid & Tartar Sauce. And while you can't really go wrong with Padron Peppers, they still tasted really nice. All in all, it was around £90 for two people including a couple of drinks. While a little on the pricey side for a lunch, it was expected for the amount of dishes we ordered.

Bringing the flavors and aromas of home to Manchester. A welcoming atmosphere, and really nice personnel, creates the perfect space to enjoy dinner or lunch. We started with the Duck'in donut, with some pan tomaca, clams with garlic and parsley, croquetas and the Duck egg, which was over the top, very creamy in the inside. For main we ordered a Mushroom rice, that was an explosion of flavors, and I can say is one of the bests I have ever tried. We finished with a chocolate coulant filled with dulce de leche and the Xuixo filled with coustard, which I was surprised to find is imported from Girona from Xuixos Castello. Highly recommend ordering the croquetas, Duck egg and Xuixo. In my opinion, Tast is a must go restaurant in Manchester.

Enjoyed the grilled octopus and our waiting staff did a great job with recommendations. Overall, the dishes didn’t blow us away, would not pay on my own dime. The duckin donuts dish was unique but not to our taste. Did not enjoy the meats on the mixed charcuterie board as much as we would have liked.

Accepted the offer to sit on the ground floor due to live music, wish we hadn’t however as the menu is limited in the “bar”. Food was all very good and authentic. Excellent food beautifully prepared. The menu is concise, which we like, we felt like we had most of it. £80 for 2 with wine and service charge. Really very reasonable for such superb quality. We ate on a Wednesday night when trade was brisk without being over crowded. Axel served us all night and was lovely.

Splendid food with hard working and charming staff. Well worth a visit in a really lovely part of Manchester City centre. The charcuterie Catalan board was beautiful. Don’t be afraid to ‘just’ go for the house red either, the Tempranillo was delicious.

First time dining in the restaurant, food reminded me my Aunt's food as she lives in Catalonia. Canelloni or canelones as we say were perfect. Rice was tasty but a bit on the small side if you have lived in Spain when it comes to portions size. The cheese cake was one of the best I ever tasted recently,so worthy to go and try it. All in all for me a perfect place to spend the afternoon in Manchester and treat yourself.

Absolutely fantastic service each time we visit. Great Manager (Miquel) leading a great restaurant. We always stay for hours and feel super relaxed. The food is super fresh and they care about the customers. Miquel even made sure we had his card so we can book in when we need a table. Will be coming back again soon.

Had the best dinner at Tast, tonight. It's the first time I find actual Catalan food in Manchester and I am very satisfied with the tapas. 5 stars also for the service, especially thanks to Emyi who is professional and friendly. Amazing menu and a great relaxed atmosphere. The staff were very attentive and explained everything if we were ever confused, they also helped us make sure we got the most out of each dish. As each dish came out we received an explanation of each which was great. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to try something a little bit different and experience the flavours of Catalonia!

Some interesting dishes on the tasting menu although not all of the courses were fine dining. Some were very simple. Ok so we went here on saturday night and my wife really liked the restaurant / bar and the food but i thought the food was just ok. In fact she was raving about the place so my review maybe a little strange. We walked in without a reservation and whilst the upstairs restaurants were full we were offered a table in the ground floor bar which was great as i wasnt expecting to be able to get in the place as it hasn't been open long. The staff were excellent, very polite and good knowledge of the menu. We had a couple of tiny small bites to start - duck'in donut and sandwich de fromatge trufat. Ok, the donut was bizarre, you could taste each flavour the longer you savoured it, hats of to the kitchen it was a skilled piece of cooking. The trufat was ok nothing special. We had croqueta iberic, escalivat and rostit. The croquetas were ok. Well cooked and seasoned but a little bland. The octopus boqueria was served in an octopus themed dish which was a nice touch but again nothing speacial. Finally we had the pork cheeks. I thought the meat could have been cooked for longer so it was more tender and seasoned better. Also the dish only contained two tiny mushrooms. As I said my wife was very impressed but I wasn't. I will visit again and give it another try. 17th Oct 2018. I called in a couple of months later and dined in the 1st floor restaurant. More formal and the menu was more extensive and maybe the staff were a little more attentive. All in a plesant afternoon with great company.

Best Spanish in town. Tast is a really nice place to enjoy authentic Catalan food. The restaurant has a casual dining experience which is ideal to visit after work or during the weekend and a fine dining experience called Enxaneta where you feel like eating in some of the best restaurants in Girona / Catalunya. This was an amazing authentic Catalan experience yesterday. Great menu, sharing plates and the rice dishes so packed full of flavour, and really rich Wine menu had all my Spanish wines you can't really get in the UK, and reasonably priced, this is in the heart of Manchester!! If you want to enjoy a Catalan food experience in Manchester that’s definitely the place to go: Catalan charcuterie, tapas, excellent rice dishes and nice desserts, they even have “xuixos de Can Castelló” from Girona ! There were some good moments to Tast, but ultimately I felt a little let down. The tortilla was meant to be runny, but I have had much runnier. The croquettes were claggy and a touch overcooked. The charcuterie and cheese and the pan con tomate was ok. Ultimately nothing was terrible and I enjoyed aspects of the meal, but for the price I was hoping for a touch more.

erm .. great to be out; the staff were wonderful and the food certainly interesting but not the kind of place you'd go if you are hungry and up for a 'feed'.. a bit emperor's new clothes perhaps .. couple of drinks each and a plate or two will set you back £50/£60.. expensive tapas but not tapas as you have perhaps had before . so if you are up for new experience great.. if not, perhaps not.

Spent New Year's Eve at Tast for the 6 course taster meal. All I can say is the service was fantastic. The way the staff aren't stuck to one table and you get a different server keeps it fresh and less regimented. It's a nice change and they were all very welcoming. The food was also a taste sensation and beautifully presented. I would recommend this to any of my family and friends. If you are in the area definitely try it out

Had been looking forward to our first visit. Our waitress was lovely, helped us with the menu choices and was very attentive. The food was excellent and with her help we did not over face ourselves. We ordered a half plate of rice to compliment our dishes but it did not come. We had finished all our food and the plates had beeen cleared away when 2 more plates appeared. We asked if it was usual to have the rice after all the other dishes had been eaten and were given some excuse about being busy and the dish had been overlooked. We told them that we did not want the dish now and asked for the bill. Someone more senior came and offered free deserts and drinks but we declined. We were not charged for the rice and were told that the service charge would be taken off the bill, not that we would have paid it. Shame really because we enjoyed what we had and I am sure we will come back for a second go

It helps when it's a beautifull evening. Set on King Street in the heart of the city centre. We sat on the terrace outside. Very clean, great service and a tasty selection to choose from with a glass of Amstell Damm. You should book beforehand online and you can see the menu there. Can't wait to go back and try something different.

Fabulous! Such a delight to have discovered this gem. Was expecting regular tapas and wine but ended up being treated with top tier designer dishes originated from Catalonia! Excellent meal. Took some colleagues for the ten course tasting menu. Best we've had in a long time. The wine suggestions were excellent, often recommending a cheaper alternative to those we initially thought, and they were all superb! How often does that happen? Highly recommend.

Staff were great and the atmosphere was lovely, but unfortunately the food is massively overpriced. We did have some stand out dishes, but these were actually a lot of the cheaper ones. We had a seafood rice which was around £17 and it had a single prawn. As far as I could tell, that was the only piece of fish in the entire dish. Whilst the croquettes we had were good, they were £1.90 each. Mussels were nice too but for some bizarre reason they come served in a plastic bag, which isn’t only off putting but incredibly wasteful. Overall, nothing special and certainly not worth the money.

A very fine restaurant, featuring many sharing dishes ranging from small to not very large. All very well prepared, and a different taste to anywhere else I have eaten. Even their 'signature' cocktails are different, with the juice of red peppers they have smoked themselves. One thing they didn't tell us while we were looking at menus - their tasting menu is only available if it's for the whole table.

It's ok. Decent wine. Good window seat to watch the world go by. Iberian ham croquets we're very good. Cod pil pil was also good. Fried hake was ok. more batter than fish. The peppers were also ok. Sourdough with tomato was bland. Potato bravas tasted "fake". Hard to describe tbh. Service was atrocious. I know its tapas style but waiting 25mins for 1 dish after all the others is poor show. More style over substance here I'm afraid.

The staff is simply amazing, charming, focused. From the metre to the waitress, simply brilliant. The food depends on what you ask for. In our menu the wagyu tartar was absolutely amazing, but the others were from great to just ok. And that was maybe because that tartar rise the standard so high. The wine was really good. Of course is a place to don't go everyday. But definitely is a place to go and repeat.

I was really excited to try this restaurant from Paco Perez as I love the food from Catalonia and his reputation as one of the best chefs in Spain is supported by his Michelin stars. I also like the idea of the tastets, and the culture of food to share. On arrival the restaurant looks great; modern and fresh but not too formal. The service was fantastic with just the right balance of attentiveness and privacy. The menu had so many tasty sounding items I could've easily ordered one of everything and when what we did order arrived it was...good. I want to be able to say it was some of the best Spanish food I've ever had but that would be disingenuous. The creative use of ingredients produced some impressive textures but the flavours weren't necessarily quite as impressive. I'd still recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys spanish food, just don't get your hopes up quite as much as I did!

Enjoyed it, but a little expensive. I thought the decor (we sat on the ground floor) was a little bit clinical, but the food was great. Highlight, as others have said, is that Waygu tartar, which is actually pretty good value considering the price of the meat. The staff are great and Tast does have the benefit of being relatively unique as a Catalan restaurant (I think the only one in Manchester apart from Lunya?), so I'd give this place a go, but it's a bit more of a treat than a typical Fri/Sat night meal.

Attended the soft launch last night, has to go down as the slickest launch I've ever seen. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable with impeccable credentials and it really showed. The minimalist but comfy decor was relaxed, and with a kitchen on each floor so they can keep up with demand easily. The food took us straight back to Catalonia, top quality ingredients cooked to perfection. The delicious 'tastets' kept coming, from king crab with tomato and guinea fowl cannelloni to Iberican pork loin. Our new favourite restaurant in Manchester, hopefully one that stands the test of time!

Unimpressed and underwhelmed, I expected much more of this chef. The ham croquettes are truly excellent but beyond that there is very little to be excited about. The other flavours of croquette are simply ok. We had a rice dish that was essentially a pre-prepared paella spread thinly over a tray, topped with 2 prawns, heated on demand and therefore a little dry. We had chicken wings that came with the strangest uncomplimentary dip I have ever had. I'm a huge fan of Spanish food, especially from the Northern regions, I adore Galician beef but this place cooked it way too much for my liking and didn't do it justice. The staff are nice, very welcoming and do their best to explain the menu. Unfortunately this menu is confusing, the food is overpriced, the dishes are too small and nothing would bring me back except maybe the ham croquettes.

Finding myself in Manchester with a rumbling tummy I headed to King Street with some vague memory that the Manchester evening news had raved about a couple of restaurants here. After having been refused entry to one as it was completely full I peered through the window of Tast with some trepidation as it was almost empty and its somewhat austere modern canteen-like decor was a little offputting. So too the delicious but ambitious sounding menu (so often undeliverable) However on entry all doubts dispelled by the warm friendly reception. I sat at the smart bar watching the chefs prepare the food. House lager was excellent. First 'course' was a tiny morsel of duck liver pate. Apparently the menu was created by a Michelin starred Catelonian Chef and this is one of his signature dishes. All I can say is WOW! A taste of foie gras with notes of chocolate and raspberry, absolute genius! The next course was a beautifully cooked crunchy and grease free ham croquet. Unfortunately this was filled with a tasteless mush. Whilst this may have appeared a little below par if eaten on its own, after following the duck liver this was a catastrophic dip in quality. We were back on form with the next offering which was an oyster with various cheffy enhancements. Again tastebud blowing freshness and iodine sea flavours. Next a Japanes steamed bun filled with slow braised beef. Again WOW! Warm soft bun filled with glutinous melting beef, unctious juices running down my chin..excuse me while I take a moment. Last course was the octopus. I'm afraid this dish just doesn't work. After an initial incredible blast of sherry foam, the slightly too salty and too large chunks of (tender) octopus completely overwhelm the other ingredients and after a few mouthfulls it becomes a little boring. Disappointing. This restaurant offers amazing, borderline ground breaking food but at this level every dish has to work, hopefully they'll take this on board. Despite this I will definately be going back. This is some of the best food I've ever eaten, period. (I don't really know what that means, it's American and sounds dramatic)

Having grown up in Barcelona, it was amazing to taste my favorite dishes at Tast. It brought back fond memories of endless lunches on the Mediterranean. The espinacas, croquetas, cannelloni and pulpos were to die for. I also enjoyed Tasc’s interpretation of the Fricando Bao. The evening was crowned with a tasty xuxo-man-xoxolata that brought tears to my eyes.
