One of the best meals I've had in Manchester. Superb Thai food. Loved the battered scallops and coriander Beef, crispy pork with papaya salad also delicious. Lovely atmosphere and great service. Highly recommended
D. L.
Disappointing. Not really a Thai restaurant. It is only a blended English-Thai restaurant
The curry is sweet which you don’t expect that in real Thai food. The soup should be somewhat similar to Tom Yum Kung soup but honestly it is a sweet and sour soup add with a bit spicy sauce.
If you think it is a Thai restaurant, you will find very significant different when you go to Thailand once.
The decor is great, which is the reason I give a three star.

📍Try Thai @ Manchester's Chinatown
Another lovely spot in Manchester. As with most good restaurants, we had to queue for about 10 minutes before getting a seat for 2.
We opted for the 'Vegetarian Banquet'. For 22 pounds/person, the selections were incredible!
🍃Starters - Sweet Corn Cake, Vegetable Spring Roll, Battered Aubergines with Panang Sauce, Spicy Vegetable Salad
🍛Mains - Vegetable Yellow Curry, Stir Fry Fresh Ginger with Tofu, Stir Fry Chillin & Mix Vegetables
🥥Dessert - Tea & Coconut Ice Cream
The experience was exquisite. It was truly a banquet for the both of us. I thoroughly enjoyed the Thai Cuisine served here.

Have a tradition to come here once a year (at Christmas) with a good friend of mine.. and you know what it’s great… we come back every year for a reason!!
Menu is solid, food is great portions and full of flavour and the place is just chilled, no frills about the service, but you sort of don’t want that in here - people know they are coming for the great food at a good price.
Atmosphere is always excellent when we go due to Xmas parties and the such.. it’s a tradition that will last a long time!!

Long been one of my favourite restaurants in Manchester and it didn't disappoint on this occasion. The decor and atmosphere was, as always pleasant, the service was prompt and friendly and the food was excellent. We had the Beef Red Curry and the Holy Chicken with Thai Basil.
The only thing that jarred a little were the laminated menu looks and feels a little bit cheap but I assume its a response to Covid.
s. M.
pineapple fried rice was so-so. Red curry Thai milk tea and hot and sour soup were delicious! Please try it!
s.
Food was delicious. Tried the beef and broccoli with oyster sauce. Good sized portion. Parking not bad midweek. Nearby bays are free after 8pm but double check as may change.

Beautiful restaurant with very tasty food! The food is very authentic and they have unique dishes such as papaya salad and pineapple fried rice (the rice is inside a pineapple!) Which are delicious! I recommend to go with a group and share dishes so you get to try all the interesting dishes. There is a service charge if with a group of 6 or more. The service itself was good. Overall great restaurant!
I. A.
Great lunch menu, £10.95 for a starter, main, and ice cream/coffee. Really fast service and delicious food! Pad thai was especially tasty! Definitely recommend!
P. S.
I tried the lunch combo menu. I selected chicken spring rolls, chicken Green Thai curry and ice cream. I am overwhelmed with the Green Thai curry. It was awesome. Rich in aroma and flavour. Spring rolls are very small in portion compared to other beef/pork starters. I was expecting coconut pulp ice-cream but it was just the vanilla one with chocolate syrup
M. W.
Lovely Thai dishes, the portion is big enough for 2 small Asian people. A bit pricey though, but you get what you pay for. Very helpful and lovely staff as well xx
A. A.
Everything was so delicious! I've had coconut soup, pad thai with chicken and ice cofee. This was the best pad thai I've had 🤤 also love the cozy atmosphere and friendly service. Try Thai is now my favourite place to eat in Manchester 🥰
J. B.
We went as a large group of friends. Food was served fairly quickly. Good portions. Freshly made and very tasty.
Ps. They offer NHS Discounts. (At the time of posting this review)
王.
Nice taste, nice price, and nice service.
Impressive experience with delicious foods, although they are slightly different from the Thai food I had before, still worth visiting and definitely worth re-visiting.
H. M.
amazing food, we ordered from their lunch menu which had a variety of options! the chilli paste & sweet basil stir fry was spicy sweet and fragrant - my coriander beef starter went well with it. garlic spare ribs were huge, the stir fried flat noodles were the right level of spicy. def would recommend :)
update: fyi spare ribs are not halal since they’re pork (language barrier got me 😅)
B. S. (.
Lovely authentic thai food and extremely cheap for their happy hour offer. When they say it's spicy it's definitely spicy.
s.
Had a great lunch before watching a show, nice place, tasty food. They do birthday song as well. Convenient location. 👍🏻😁
J.
Visited here a few times and always excellent quality Thai food, very traditional and great service.
E. S.
Came here for lunch, service was super fast, wait staff were polite. Food was also delicious and fresh. Will come back again!
D. M. D.
This is the best Thai food I have eaten since actually being in Thailand!!!
Friendly staff, fast service all at a reasonable price. I recommend reserving in advance as you may have a bit of a wait for a table but it is well worth it!!!
P.S. the cocktails are amazing!!!
C. B.
Food was great and really filling.
Starter - Thai style beef
Main - Beef Massaman curry with coconut rice.
P. B.
I would recommend this place for people not yet into Thai and those that love it. Warning it closes early mid week 10pm so book at 8 latest. The platters and pad Thai are a good introduction. Some people would think that the starters are a meal. The portions are generous and good quality. A meal with starter, main and a couple of drinks for under £30 a head ( Inc service charge) is good value these days.
S. S.
Very good value, 3 courses only cost £10.95 if you go in the afternoon.
We had vegetable tempura, pad Thai and ice cream, they were fresh and tasty.
C. B. D.
Food amazing always. Service very kind and professional. I can highly recommend.
A.
Had the 3 course set lunch. Excellent covid cleanliness routines. Very prompt service too.
K.
Nice restaurant, efficient service. It was busy. Marking lower as the two mains we ordered Pad Thai and Massaman curry were both a bit too sweet for our liking. I don't mind a bit of sugar to bring out the flavours but I definitely shouldn't be able to taste it.
S.
Came here with friends few years ago and local friends highly recommend this to me again this year so went to try the lunch menu… go before peak time otherwise you have to queue for long time… very nice lunch menu with splendid food. It’s understandable that the staff hush you up due to the long queue so won’t complain about it 😋 very good location so quite busy all the time 🥰
C. T. H.
Food and service are good
Must order:
Thai milk tea without ice
Hot hot sour soup
Veg Pa Thai
O. R.
Easily the best food we had on our small trip to Manchester, extremely friendly and helpful staff, amazing cocktails, some of the best Thai food we’ve eaten with great gluten free options
S.
Had lunch here with my boy. They have halal options but sadly they no longer do my fav dish tofu and aubergine with basil. Food is nice and spicy.
j. p.
The quality of food is always very good. Can not fault it. We have been eating at Try Thai for years. Best food in China town.
p. y.
Went for the lunch menu very good value and lovely food as well
A. H.
I looked on google reviews and i went based on that. The food was not bad but not really really good. The soft shell crab was nice though and the coconut rice tasted awesome. We had the beef massaman too but that was nothing to shout about. Staff was friendly, helpful and polite.
S. A.
The food portion is good. We were 6 people and it was an amazing experience. The green curry is good with spices and vanilla ice cream is to go for. The service is not good and you need to wait very long with the service.. They should put more people on Saturdays.
B. A.
Delicious food and a good value lunch menu
B.
This was my first outing here, following a recommendation from a friend.
The lunchtime buffet was good price and lovely quality.
Starter was an immediate start in the right direction. I've been places before where the satay has just been watery, but this one was perfect. A nice balance of flavour and texture, which made for a great accompaniment to the king prawns!
My main was a duck Massaman Curry, with fried rice. Again at this point we were two for two on successful dishes! The sauce was delicious, potatoes tender, and the cuts of duck melt in the mouth.
The dessert ice cream was a nice finishing touch, and all wrapped up in a good £13.50 price tag!
Definitely coming back again, and bringing more friends with us!
J. H.
Excellent authentic taste and good value for money. Friendly service. Ambiente could be improved, but in total a great food experience
J. J.
What a wonderful place! Went with the wife and had an absolutely lovely time. Food was great, service was quick, efficient and friendly. Loved it.
R. B.
Fantastic Thai food in Town. Can't go wrong with Pad Kee Mao, Pad Thai or any curries. Tom yum soup here is amazing too. Lunch specials are fantastic deals. Service is fantastic and staff is very friendly. Food is quick and very tasty. Portions are great and very filling. Try the Teas
R. K.
Delicious authentic Thai food! One of the best Thai food restaurants around the area!
Pineapple fried rice and jungle curry 👍👍👍
Tom yum gung is slightly too sour but other than that, the food is just perfect! Would definitely visit again.
P.s. It's usually quite crowded and advance booking is recommended!
J.
Food was fine, nothing that blew me away but for the price I expected a lot more (both quality and quantity). That being said, service was excellent and food arrived very quickly
J.
Went for a day trip in Manchester with my boyfriend and everywhere was fully booked but a very lovely waitress, Benz, had been very kind to go the extra mile to find us a table. The food was delicious and service was brilliant, definitely recommend.
R. D.
Try Thai in Manchester. Yum.
I like this place almost as much as Chaophraya. And Chaophraya in Manchester closed. So there you go!
Beautiful Thai food - try the pad kra paow. Mmm, with Holy Basil.
Popular and pretty much always busy. Book, or come prepared to wait for a table.
In the heart of Chinatown - I recommend staying at the Townhouse if you’re going to eat here and stay over, which is nearby.
A. C.
Best restaurant in Manchester in my opinion. I was here years ago with 2 friends and this restaurant was highly recommended by another friend. Food, staff and service excellent!
On the way to Sofia next day, we stayed overnight in Princess St Hotel which is 20-30mins away from the airport but a minute away to get here😁. We could have stayed near the airpor but chose not to because I really wanted to take my husband to this restaurant. It was a Wednesday night but the testaurant was packed. My husband said the decor is lovely and the food is excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. If you have one restaurant to go to jn Manchester, this is the one! And order the beef red curry! Yuuum!
S. P.
I ordered a pint of Stella Artois for £4, good price. The food selection can satisfy any taste, in particular I wanted to try something quite difficult to find, such as Soft Shell Crabs. Those came as a starter for £9, I have to say, those were delicious, similar to good quality Calamari. Then I ordered a test dish... Duck! From that you can really understand the quality of an Asian restaurant. So unfortunately it was a bit dry, so I won't reccomend it. Overall it was a very good meal, the only reason of 4 stars is because the prices are relatively high.
S. C.
A lovely meal. Yellow Curry was excellent. Stir fry flat rice noodles were lovely and my starter of Crispy pork in tamarind sauce was to die for. My wife had soft shell crabs stirfried with Thai peppercorn and herbs which she loved. Prices are not particularly cheap but they have a happy hour menu between 4 and 7 where two and three courses of many items on their menu are between 14 and 17 pounds. They also have 2 for 1 on bottles of beer and cocktails at the same times on certain days.
y. Q.
First time to try Thai food in UK. Such a delighting lunch! The duck was so great, with some kind of sour and sweet flavour. And the aubergine and tofu meal was a little oily but the total score is 'deserve a try'!😁 Ice creams contained in lunch set were also satisfying!
And all the spicy/hot food are not that spicy, so I guess most people can take it.
The waiter thai boy was very friendly and nice, and the pick up speed was fast.
M. T.
Haven't been here for a while but still as good as I remember it. Always busy with lively atmosphere, fast service and very good food.
F. G.
Enjoyed our lunch set here. Tried the fried pork ribs as appetizer. Tasted quite decent, properly seasoned. The red curry pork stir fry tasted pretty good. Particularly when eating the curry sauce with rice. The dessert was a nice touch at the end to finish the value lunch.
A. M.
First time here and really enjoyed the food. Had a mixture of dishes to share which were good portions. Food was delicious. The beef was quality and not as fatty as I've had at other places. They do morning glory here but wasnt as good as the ones I've had in Thailand but maybe it was this time round. The restaurant itself had nice decor and clean. Staff were helpful and food came within a reasonable time.
E. L.
Not bad! The fried soft shell crab was a bit soggy.
B. S.
The Service was ok but food was really good. Because we sat towards the inside, the waiters weren't that attentive but other than that, it was a pleasant experience
J. C.
Set meal £10.95 +10% service charge
S. S.
Very nice place to eat. Loads of choice and fruit drinks. Couldn't share my food or was so amazing
C. l.
Very nice food the menu is so worth it from 12pm to 4pm you can get a 3 course meal from 9£95! It's a bargain and the quality of the food is just great!amazing value for money. The only thing I would say is that the waiting time can get quite long above all during peak time.
P. W.
Authentic, varied, delicious food. Great green curry. All served by helpful, charming waiting staff. Thanks
I. K.
Delicious Thai food with generous portions, quite affordable if you take the lunch set meals. Dessert was okay. Staff were attentive as well. Overall good experience and would come back again
S. 1.
Very affordable and healthy portions with very good customer service. Would recommend to anyone and also has halal options too
P. C.
Just once they forgot the order of our table and we were waiting for 1 hour. But regardless that incident, I really enjoy the flavours of this cuisine, and this restaurant has a good deal for lunch (3 dishes) which makes it super convenient. Try the filled pineapple, it's marvellous!
The staff is friendly and they take care that you understand everything what you are about to order.
A. Z.
Delicious dishes, attentive staff, and lovely atmosphere. The only reason for giving it 4* is because you couldn't hear the music in the background (to have an even better dining experience), as the noise from people talking and cutlery clinking overpowered the music.
Aside from that, everything else was great. Would strongly recommend and will be returning! Thanks!
T. Y.
Definitely the best Thai food in Manchester. My favourites from there are Try Thai platter and thick red curry with jasmine rice. Don't forget to order their Thai prawn crackers 😋 I could eat at Try Thai everyday if I live in Manchester
D. K.
I didn’t make any reservations so I had to wait a bit, but was totally worth waiting .
They had great portion and all three of them tasted great!
Looking forward to my next visit:)
M. N.
Good food.
Attentive staff.
Reasonably priced.
A lot better than some restaurants in the area.
Highly recommended.
If you like spicy Thia food. This is the place to go to.
They will try and accommodate tastes for those who like it less spicy.
5 Stars all round.
A. S.
Lovely Thai restaurant that serves authentic spicy food. They have plenty of options and also serve halal meats. They have several lunch and happy hour menus which are great value for what you receive. Very filling. I had the lunch set Menu of stuffed chicken wings for starter, seafood chilli and basil stir fry. It was soooo spicy but soooo nice. Then to finish off we were offered a choice of ice cream or coffee to finish. I opted for the ice cream to cool my mouth down. Just plain vanilla with some chocolate sauce. Definitely "TRY" this place!
K.
Food was lovely but if you order from the main menu, then the dishes dont include any rice so you have to order separately, unless your dish says rice or noodles in the description or name.
One of the only places with sticky rice and coconut rice - both are lovely. The coconut rice is made with coconut milk so it doesnt have the little coconut pieces in it.
P. M.
Food in this place is absolutely delicious! We have ordered Rose Banquet set menu and lunch set menu and every single dish was mouthwatering. If you are not a fan of spicy food Rose Banquet might be too hot for you however if you are a 'spice invader' you will be in heaven 😊
E. T.
Was lovely having my early birthday meal here. But I have had better Thai food elsewhere. Drinks were very icy (so tasted more water than the flavor).
Z. S.
Have been to this restaurant twice and the food and the service has been brilliant! I wasn't a great fan of Thai food before but this restaurant has changed my mind! Would definitely recommend going here if you're in Manchester!
Bonus for me was that some of the meat they serve is halal! :D
A. M.
A welcoming Thai restaurant- good menu - vegan menu available too, food was amazing, perfect portion size, staff both friendly and efficient. Does offer a 3 course lunch menu, situated in ChinaTown. Highly recommend you book!
T. O.
AMAZING!!! We loved everything!
Definitely a must try if you’re in Manchester or visiting!
Best Thai food we’ve had ever! I’ve been recommending them to everyone.
We can’t wait to go back 😊
A. L.
Absolutely exquisite, friendly staff, very covid conscious, beautiful tasty food, good valve, a little gem in China Town.. Good selection of beverages. 👍🏻 😀 Going to return. To try other things.. 😁
R. K.
Authentic Thai food.
This thai restaurant is located in Chinatown, a few minutes walk from the city centre.
I ordered the green curry fried rice with crispy belly pork which costed £10.95. A bit pricey for a bowl of fried rice I feel, although it was enough to fill my belly and didn’t enjoy the crispy belly pork, a bit overcooked. The quality is normally a lot better at this restaurant.
The service was good and the staff are friendly. Lots of seating available for customers too.
Overall, I think it’s a bit pricey but the food is pretty good.
J. C.
Excellent food, friendly staff, well priced. Restaurant has an exotic feel. Great for a weekend meal out or a bite after work with friends and colleagues.
C. W.
First class eating experience in Manchester's China Town. Make sure you try the speciality teas
A. Y.
Food is OK, nothing special. Quite pricy without deals. The coconut chicken soup wasn't good at all - too many pieces of dry chicken and hardly any soup (the tasty part)! Recommend the curries.
Service isn't great.
B. C.
The food was perfect. I recommend the green curry. Great selection of teas as well. This place is very well decorated and cosy. The staff is nice and helpful.
N. B.
Amazing food, really big portions, staff a little slow however.
would recommend the sweet corn cakes and the milk tea
E. M.
The food is very delicious. Starters and main dishes are excellent. Very friendly waitresses. Overall I can heartily recommend this restaurant.
M. O.
Delicious food. So many varieties and options. Spoilt for church. Lovely staff members
J. W.
Excellent food, friendly and efficient service. Pretty busy but it didn't feel overcrowded and tables were well spaced to fit with current guidelines. Plenty of options on the menu to choose from, food was plentiful and all dishes arrived piping hot. We shall return the next time we are in Manchester.
D. P.
Great food, good spice level. Friendly and efficient staff
S. P.
Absolutely without doubt the most delicious and authentic Thai cuisine I've experienced outside of Thailand, and I've eaten a LOT of Thai food!
Wish there was somewhere in Bristol this good! Can't wait to return!!
Thank you.
E. U.
Good location. Easy enough to find parking nearby. Food was served quickly and tasted decent. Would recommend. I had the jungle curry with rice. The curry was hot hot hot! But decent. Maybe try something a little less hot if your tastebuds cant handle the heat. Worth a try if you're after thai food. Polite and attentive staff. A little pricey but nonetheless decent.
L. S.
I’ve been coming here over the years and it’s still the best Thai place in Manchester. Service is welcoming and dishes are always on point. Highly recommended to anyone in Manchester.
N. M.
Took my brother and his family here as a treat for my nephews birthday. The food was great. Just what we expected and the service was great.
J. B.
Best Thai Yellow Curry I have had yet, portions are big and tastes unreal, honestly recommend it, the only downside is they add a service charge which I presume is a tip, I suppose it is alright if you're wanting to leave a tip (which I was and did) but not if you don't have exact amount but whole heartedly, go there, experience the food and you'll realise it's worth the money.
M. H.
A second visit, this time for my birthday with my daughter. Just as good as the first visit, food impeccable and delicate flavours. There are the spicer dishes too if you can handle the chilli.... Fantastic range of options, friendly attentive staff and a chilled atmosphere. Best Thai in Machester and I've tried a few.
B. M. K.
Super soft crab. To think we trawled Singapore looking for this when it was on our doorstep😂 Every dish we had was delicious. Would def eat here again.
R. M.
Went for my wife's birthday, we pre-booked our table, and had a lovely table which was out of the way and in a nice area. Service was splendid, the food came so quickly too, and everything was lovely.
We had chicken satay with peanut sauce, some thai salad and veggie spring rolls for starters. Everything hit the spot, the peanut sauce had a brilliant KICK combined with the chicken satay's it went down a treat.
For mains we had sweet and sour chicken, which I thought lacked abit of sweet but nevertheless was still tasty. And we had beef pad thai, which my wife absolutely destroyed.
Would certainly keep going and would recommend for special occasions.
My only critique which is why a star has been lost is there was a noisy bunch of friends on a table next to us, they kept getting up, screaming pretty loud infrequently and it was a disruption to our meal at times. I would encourage TryThai to ensure no guests be too loud or disruptive to others, laughing and screaming OTT and constantly walking or running around tables is not appropriate. I was surprised management let them off to be honest. Hopefully you take my advice onboard.
N. M.
Food is OK but not super tasty. Found it a bit overpriced too. Better places in Manchester in my humble opinion.
J. H.
Have never had Thai before as always thought it would be too hot. I loved it had a yellow curry I am awful with anything hot but just about managed this but the flavour was beautiful had satay starter which had no heat at all really big portion and presented beautifully. Great quality food give it a try.
J. P. H.
Amazing food, great decor and friendly staff. I would come back 100%! The lunch menu is fantastic 👍
R. G.
Lovely food, great service
M. S. M.
Best Thai food in Manchester and beyond, and that's according to my family from Thailand, and I concur. A huge choice of starters and main courses never fail to impress. Highly recommended.
P. W.
Amazing food...great service! Busy at 5.45pm so it's obviously very popular!
Highly recommend a visit!
N. P.
tasty thai food... good service and good price
z. h.
Mixed starters 5/5
Pad Thai 5/5
Stiry fry 5/5
Good portions too. Enjoyed everything.
Only comment would be the beef was chewy.
N. A.
Scrumptious food at great prices. Beautiful ambience. Quick service even during busy hours.
A. E.
Great first visit with a friend for a catch up. Service very good and food delicious. Definitely be back
E.
By far one of the most authentic Thai food I’ve tried. Thai milk tea was just like how it’s done in Southeast Asia. The chilli and holy basil beef was so fragrant and amazing. Beef was tender as well. Alongside we had the green curry with chicken meat. It was simply so fragrant with its spices and coconut cream taste. The Tom yam soup which they call Hot & Sour soup with seafood was really appetising. Sour, sweet and spicy. Perfect for a chilly day in Manchester.
Try Thai’s food was really authentic. Service was impeccable. Selections were endless. Ambience was just right. And on a cold autumn’s night, it brought me back to home.
K. H.
Favourite Thai place the food is incredible. Can be hard to get a table sometimes so best booking ahead.
C. B.
After a short wait to be seated we were attended to straight away. The food was excellent and good value for money.
F. G.
If you ever visited Thailand and miss the food you have to go to Try Thai. You will never have food outside of Thailand that tastes as good as food in Thailand. Totally recommend this restaurant and it is worth a visit
D. T.
Nice environment, polite staff, good food, menu would be better if you could add photos
P. L.
We visited on a Friday evening. Quite busy restaurant. I loved the main dishes that we got and the rice inside the pineapple, but starters (spring rolls, chicken satay) were definitely not the best I've had.
J. M.
Great lunch deal.. Fantastic food. Have been visiting for years and never disappoints
D. K.
Great Thai restaurant in the heart of China town, highly recommend. Food, atmosphere and service all excellent :-)
R. E.
Great food and great staff
U. D.
Lovely food in a relaxed setting. Good portion sizes, really enjoyed the 2 person starter sharing platter and soft shelled crabs with garlic. Service was very quick and professional even thought it was a busy Saturday evening
A. B.
Definitely good place for various thai food. Good price and quality😉
P. Y.
Lovely fresh dishes, nice tea, fast service for a busy Saturday evening
M. S.
A really good restaurant. Good food. Great service.
5 stars all round.
A. b.
Great food with good menu and the service is perfect
S. M.
Best thai food I've had. Had a variety of seafood/veg/chicken dishes and all were superb. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
S. B.
Decent lunch time menu, but nothing extraordinary. Good value for the price. The wait time can be improved, as we had to wait for 15 minutes before someone arrived to take orders(restaurant was 30% full), that was after we had to catch their notice after several times.
M. D. B.
I Went for a quick lunch break, since it is near where I was working. Very nice place. Excellent food and polite staff. Recommended!
J. U.
Was my favourite Thai restaurant in Manchester but unfortunately their standard's have dropped a little. Not sure if they have changed the chef or cooks
M. H.
Best place for food ever. Prior to Try Thai I haven't been too fussed about Thai food but I fell in love with this place and Thai food the moment I walked in like 6 years ago. I've dined in so many places over the years but have never been as satisfied as I do in Try Thai. I just hope this place never closes its doors. Dishes to try: papaya salad, stuffed chicken wings, tempura king prawns, for mains chilli mixed vegetables chicken (no.55), jungle curry, sides holy basil rice with vegetables. Thanks for the amazing food and service over the years. Also bring back the stuffed chicken wings please.
G. I.
UPDATE: They now add 10% service charge to all bills, even the fast lunch menu!
The lunch menu is still good value. Food portions are reasonable, although on my last visit the food was very salty. Service is good, but some of the tables are tucked away in corners where you can be missed.
T. C.
3 course set lunch, great value, food fresh n tasty, mock tail good too. Great lunch in good surroundings
C. E.
Curries really nice and intense flavours. Enjoyed the whole meal.
R. Z.
Amazing! One of the best thai places in manchester! Contemporary with lovely service & let the photos speak for themselves!
P. R.
The most excellent Thai food restaurant in Manchester. Consistent with the taste and quality and always excellent service. The opening times are longer than usual you restaurants too which is a great advantage
N. A.
One of my family's plus friends favourite Thai lunch venue. Food always amazing.
Probably the best tasting 3 course lunch within Manchester City Centre at £10.95.
A great treat of authentic Thai food plus service.
Keep it up....ALL at Try Thai.
L. M.
tasty and fast. perfect. specialty teas are amazing. great Thai. tried coconut shrimp soup and duvk in tamarind sauce. all delicious
S. D.
Get the crispy pork belly with the sweet chilli basil or the duck with tamarind sauce. The food here is incredible and authentic and the price point is great considering the portion sizes.
J. D.
Tasty Thai food, good service. Well decorated. Good deals everyday.
D. J.
Went the try Thai for lunch, was nice food. Service was good. I feel the food was slightly overpriced for a lunch menu, however was still a nice meal.
h.
This is real Thai food!
It reminded me of experience in Thai.
If you are not familiar with the spicy food, you will need some adjustment when you order.
W. H.
Love the food here. Was my third time coming tonight. Was disappointed in the service. Our food came before our drinks. Tried to explain to a member of staff that someone at our table has a nut allergy and he came back with a peanut sauce. We had coffee at the end and it was dreadful. The food was amazing though and couldn't fault it.
T. C.
Really tasty and authentic Thai delicacies, especially the mango sticky rice and the chicken roasted in leaves.
j. m.
My favourite Thai dine in restaurant in Manchester, regular here now. Always great and lovely service. One of the kind members of staff even let us store our bikes in the downstairs lounge one day when we had forgotten our bike lock. Excellent!
D. P.
Hit and miss; the pad prik gaeng was excellent, however, the jungle curry was terrible. It was swimming in oil.
c. w.
Always, top notch food.
10 stars
J. L.
Food is absolutely delicious, well worth a try.
K.
I took my girlfriend there and we both had the most delicious stir-fry flat noodles with chicken and cashew nuts, we both loved it and highly recommend it.
N. R.
Exceptional Thai food . As someone who has travelled Thailand extensively, this is some of the best food outside of Thailand. Outstanding
R. N.
One of my favourite Thai places in the city. They have a wide variety of food worth trying at a reasonable price. Staff are always friendly and provide fast service even during busy periods.
T. K.
Great Thai food here, good service
H. S.
I would recommend the green curry if you want something that's sweet and creamy, definitely satisfying. The 3 course meal deal they have for lunch is worth the money. Would definitely come again to satisfy my craving for South East Asian cuisine.

Relly good restaurant: very clean and particular; the food is well and traditional. The prices are also good
M. T.
We really enjoyed the meal, was really tasty and authentic. Staff were polite. The only thing that let the restaurant down, were the cobwebs on the wall and wood carvings above our table. We made staff aware so that they could sort it and give above eye-level, a good dust.
P. P.
The food is great.
Big portion, great variety and reasonable price.
The service is very poor especially the waitresses.
Lack of friendliness.
P. H.
Favourite Thai restaurant. Crispy pork belly is incredible
A. K.
Food was amazing here 2nd favorite of my list that i have tried is very busy so reccomend booking in advance as they get booked very quickly service was excellent and i had the chicken penang with egg fried rice and for starter had chicken skewers with sweet chilli sauce and a strawberry mojito everything was perfect and price is very reasonable as well as the portion
K. W.
Great food and excellent staff - a wonderful experience.
Will definitely be back

Finding myself overnighting in Manchester recently, I came across Try Thai and they were able to get me a table at very short notice. Was very lucky because the food and service were excellent. I will come back in the future to keep enjoying. Many thanks to all at Try Thai.

What’s gooood in Manchester’s Chinatown when you want some Thai food…your answer is Try Thai
Off we went on Sunday lunchtime for a birthday meal not realising they had a lunchtime menu, and was it worth it? Yes, it was
Try Thai have a lunchtime menu including a 3-course meal for £9.95 or £12.95 depending on which options you want to pick. However, it’s pretty much a 2-course meal as it’s a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a coffee for dessert. Regardless, the options on the lunch menu are vast that you have plenty to choose from. If you’re not feeling multiple courses, you can always go for the Express menu at £6.95. So, depending on how hungry you are, there’s an option for you
What did we, at EatInMCR, order? We got ourselves a 3-course menu and then an Express option, which were:
· A3, Crispy Coriander Beef (Starter) – Every time we go, this is a must for us and for any beef lovers out there make sure you try it out. On the rare occasion, it’s been slightly overdone but this time, it was just perfect…the right amount of crispy crunch and the perfect flavour
· A23, Stir Fry Chilli Paste & Sweet Basil with Chicken and Egg fried rice (Main) – Oooh this was way chilly even though it only had 2 chilli symbols on the menu. I wasn’t expecting it to taste as good as it did and boy, was I surprised – I was belly happy after eating this (mind my pun)
· Stir Fry Flat Noodles with Chicken & Cashew Nuts (Express) – This kind of tasted like a slightly different Pad Thai and had a nice zingy, zesty taste which balanced out the spice we had with the Chilli paste. If you’re looking for an option that doesn’t make your eyes and nose water, it’s a good bet
Oh, and another thing for the Muslims out there, the chicken and beef is halal
And on that note, Try Thai is the place to go if you’re in and around Manchester and want some Thai food at a medium-price
Recommendation Rating: Medium
Price: ££
Service: 7/10 – quick food, but slow to take the order
T. Z.
Try Thai is one of those safe places where everyone is happy to go, Tasty Thai food you can’t go wrong
S. M.
Nice Thai food in the heart of Manchester's china town. Make sure to book in advance at busy times as it is a popular eatery
N. H.
Authentic, good quality tasty dishes. A variety of teas to suit all ages.
R. M.
Try thai has been my favourite go to restaurant for around 15 years. I have never had a bad meal here and always recommend it to friends and family. The food and service are both excellent, keep up the good work 👏
M. G. C.
Amazing food, friendly service and fair price
H. H.
Good food & drinks; service was friendly. Music was a bit anoying.
E. N.
We like very much the food especially the starters. Service is good.
K. S.
Has reasonably priced Thai food in the middle of China town. Food is fresh with authentic Thai flavours. Always busy, but staff try their hardest to seat walk ins. I have visited try thai for lunch and dinner, with each time having an exceptional experience.

Real nice I go a lot very consistent and quality food £10.95 3 course 12 to 4 daily try Thai I go at least once a week . Even alone it's peacefull busy today a nice waitress said earlier

Best Thai food I've had in the UK.
Had to wait about 10 minutes for a table, but once i ordered food came out almost immediately.
Can't go wrong with the veggie pad thai
D. S.
Been here now twice.Great food, very authentic. The spicy Thai chicken salad was amazing and very hot. Will be back soon.
S. M.
Lovely place. Great food. A bit hectic but it's a place you go for quick tasty food, not for leisure eating
L. T.
Lovely food, like really nice, we got the lunch deal for £10 something, which gives you a starter, main meal and dessert. All big portions and absolutely delicious. For the starter I got the chicken spring rolls, lovely, then I got the garlic and pepper chicken and honestly the best meal I have ever had. Then the only items for dessert is ice cream or tea/coffee which is fine, the ice cream was nice. However the drink that I had was so alcoholic, I needed to get a soft drink as well, but that's fine by me, good time either way.
Pretty decor and chill atmosphere.
Definitely recommended.
D. B.
Superb! The dishes, presentation, variety on the menu, attentive costumeŕ service - can't fault it!
C. V.
I have not been there in years! I was ok pleasantly surprised. They staff had been very accommadating they had been really polite. The prices had been OK, however for what they are charging the portions could be bigger. However the quality was great, the selection was fine the mocktails are amazing. My dishes had been the tarmirand duck and the crispy belly pork starter. Exquisite. Thanks Try Thai!
K. B.
Outstanding food and very good service
T.
Love the food and how its presented. Quite expensive though and service could definitely be better. Even during lockdown their tables are shoved so close together that you hardly get any privacy. Hence the lost star in the rating
G. G.
Showed up for a late dinner, the interior is nicely decorated and has a nice smell of wood. The staff is extremely efficient and served delicious food. Would definitely recommend the green curry.
L. K.
Really lovely food and good value. Staff were friendly and efficient and tables clean. First time here and will definitely return.
G.
Tasty food, reasonably priced, great decor. It's clean and the service is good.

Reasonable and very tasty spice really amazing food
D. K.
Delightful experience with original Thai food. The service was also very good and the price is very reasonable! Recommend this place;)
A. A.
pork belly stir fry was exceptional, and the bangkok fizz cocktail was a pleasantly unique surprise. service was fast and thorough, the location is superb. and it wasn’t too expensive!
D. R.
Food was good staff really assertive to our needs the only down side was the cold draft every time the door was opened.
N. C.
Absolutely delicious food, had samosas and a green curry.
A. E.
Really delicious food! Recommend this place, smiling staff and fast service.
s. s.
Thought from the menu, etc. that it would be much better than what it was! The food isn't BAD they've just added a chilli paste as flavouring (some clumps of paste weren't dissolved either) to most their dishes so pretty disappointing that it's so generic.
Very quick service though and friendly staff. Don't do sit in with the lockdown but can still order out and they'll give you your order at the door.
u. w.
I ordered the duck salad, curry noodles with crispy pork, and ice cream. The duck salad appetizer was a o-kay and very spicy, while the curry noodles were delicious, creamy, and instant noodles just made it more flavorful (I know you might prefer fresh noodles over instant noodles, but I just liked the noodles that way)
E. W.
Cheap and super nice! Lunch menu is a bargain!
C. H.
The food was really lovely but the staff didn't really care less. We just wanted to eat and leave!
M. W.
Delicious Thai Food. Advance table reservation is highly recommended. This place was fully booked even on weekday evenings.
s. m.
Great food, great happy hour price.
M.
Nice decor and friendly service. Couldn't complain about the food, and a lot of choice on the menu. Very reasonable prices
T. L.
Jungle Curry was very good and tasted just like it would in Thailand. Staff was also very kind.
A. L.
Was on a date, perfect venue very catering. Great and lovely staff.
K. R.
Excellent lunchtime menu reasonably priced enjoy 🙂
S. F.
Not been for about 5 years, used to go every 2 weeks. Just as it used to be great food , atmosphere and staff. Just wish they would update the menu prices as the 2 courses we had were £2 each more than the Facebook and website pages shown. 5 stars from me and my 2 friends.
T. W.
Spotted this place amongst the myriad of Chinese restaurants in Manchester's China Town. So glad they managed to find a table for us on a busy Friday evening. Great service from friendly and attentive staff. The food was excellent. The Crispy Belly Pork with Tamarind sauce I could have eaten by the bucket load, absolutely delicious. Great noodle dishes too with absolute authentic flavours. Highly recommended and will definitely be visiting again.
B. B.
Great selection and everything is tasty. I am particularly fond of the holy basil fried rice with crispy pork belly which has a lot of umami flavours and a pretty addictive chilli kick to it!
L. K.
Definitely good place for various thai food. You got nothing to worry about. Get a pad thai.
N. B.
Great food, went here as it was recommended and it didn't disappoint, really tasty food for a great price and staff were wonderful. I would definitely recommend this resteraunt!
T. T.
For starters, I got the Satay Chicken: four skewers of chicken with a little dish of satay sauce. The sauce serving, while warm and pleasingly mild/’peanutty’, could have done with being a bit more generous.
I got the Duck in Tamarind Sauce as a main, which was a filling, delectable treat. It came with a decent portion of egg fried rice as well as some veg and salad. Again, though, I could have done with more sauce!
Though a little on the pricey side, Try Thai's food and service can’t be faulted: it was all enjoyable and I look forward to coming back to try another dish (or three). The atmosphere/furnishing of the restaurant was also pleasant. The people I was with said that the restaurant was too hot at first, but I wasn’t uncomfortable.
A. H.
My absolute favourite Thai restaurant in Manchester. I haven’t tried everything on the menu obviously but the dishes I have tried never disappoint. Have been coming here for about 3 years and they are very consistent with their dishes. Well priced and good portion sizes. It is not gourmet or fancy Thai food, it’s not posh and delicate, it’s proper wholesome Thai curries and stir fries in a comfortable restaurant atmosphere.
C. Y.
Really yummylicious thai cuisine, good service, nice environment, cosy and value for money..
J. M.
Excellent food, always very fresh and tastes amazing. Authentic Thai food. Service is great, staff knowledgeable and friendly.

Try Thai is a restaurant in China town in Manchester, England with lovely and testy Thai food ,beautiful design and good atmosphere with lovely staff.
I advise you and your family and friends to visit this place and try them food and an amazing magic love tea with special flowers and special crispy Duck dish with nice rice 🍚with test of perfect Thai food there.
They have a lot of different food to try and I will 100% back to here again and again.
C. W.
Tasty lunch with very reasonable price.
S. G.
Lovely authentic food at great prices. This is a favourite spot it’ll you want a good Thai meal filled with flavour!
S. P.
Great food, good service at reasonable prices. Well worth a visit 👍
M. B.
Really good restaurant, amazing selection on the menu, food presented impeccably, fast service by very attentive staff, unfortunately only doing take away at the moment but when open in normal circumstances well worth a visit.
D.
Nice food and the Thai milk tea! Friendly service and the reasonable prices. Thank you
J. C.
First class Thai restaurant, the food is nicely cooked and well presented. Good service and good value for money.
T. D.
Very quick service, pleasant atmosphere, nice food.
D. W.
Hidden gem! Doesn't look much from the pavement but inside there is the ground floor and also first floor dining. Came with a group of 11 people, without a booking, on a Monday night and we were seated in the busy upstairs within 10 minutes. Wide menu to choose from, with pictures too for most dishes. Food was tasty and very reasonably priced as were drinks. Didn't have to wait too long for food to arrive even though it was busy. Very efficient and smiling staff who were good at spotting if someone needed anything. Would come back again.
V. B.
Amazing service, very generous portion for very reasonable price.
D. b.
Food is brilliant reasonably priced for a city centre restaurant and decent sized Portions. The place is always busy lunch and dinner . Thanks 🙏😋
J. T.
Came tonight for dinner and had great vibes as soon as we arrived. Restaurant was busy but staff were smiling and welcoming. Nice table at the window and quickly given menus and drinks order taken. Food order taken when drinks came then not 10 mins later starters were out. Colleague and I had crispy pork belly and stuffed chicken wings(which I didn't know was a thing!). Then mains; jumbo king prawns the size of a chicken leg, and I had garlic & pepper chicken. Food was brilliant and reasonably priced, already recommended to my sister and we'll be back
E. F.
Absolutely lovely food served here, with a nice full menu of choice.
The atmosphere was very pleasant with nice decor around the restaurant and friendly staff.
Service was very quick, a little too quick which did surprise me. From ordering the food to eating it was only a few minutes.
Good choice of drinks, had a few cocktails that were tasty.
However do look out for the slideshow that plays on the TV, it looks like it was made by an 11 year old in the early 2000s who had just discovered the transition and animation effects, not to mention comic sans and papyrus fonts of course.
A. S.
Food is absolutely delicious and service is very nice. Prices are extremely honest considering the quality of the dishes
P. G.
Really one of the best restaurants in China Town. Sneaky surcharge is added on the end when paying which wasn't expected though. Would have been nice to have known this before hand

-Lunch Review (During Covid-19)-
First and foremost, the social distancing in place is good but could be better. Tables are somewhat spaced out but at busy times you are quite close to other customers. Hand sanitiser is available at the door, however, and the menus are wiped after use.
As for the food, it's reputation as one of the best Thai restaurants in Manchester is definitely earned. The lunch menu includes a starter, main, and dessert or hot drink for £10.50 which is a great deal considering the size of the portions. I personally struggled to finish all my food but my housemate was happy to clean up after me!
Our recommendations are the yellow curry main (the least spicy curry available which is both creamy and flavourful) and the chicken satay skewer starter (see photo).
The staff were also friendly and very attentive to when we had finished our plates.
To get 5 stars, I would have appreciated more social distancing. I also found some of the flavours a little intense which contributed to my difficulty finishing the meal. These are only mild issues, however, and the quality of the food is very good so I do highly recommend coming here.
N. S.
My first visit and my first experience of Thai food. I ordered from the lunchtime menu to be honest I wasn't sure of what I was ordering. I ordered the mixed seafood and vegetables it came with a nice spicy dipping sauce. The main was a spicy chilly dish with fried rice, there was a choice of meats beef, pork, chicken and Duck etc. I chose the crispy pork which wasn't to my taste but my friends ordered different meals and we did try each other's and on the whole enjoyed the experience and will definitely go back again.
E. M.
Restaurant is situated in the China Town in Manchester, good place to try Thai food
P. M.
Consistently great food, a real safe bet. I've been going to Try Thai for a good decade now, and it's never let me down. None of the menu is particularly innovative, but the quality and quantity is high, and everyone just gets a really good meal. The crispy pork belly is without doubt one of the highlights, which they can serve with pretty much any sauce or dish. It's often necessary to book a table, especially Friday and Saturday, as the place fills up very quickly.
R. T. b. A. R.
Always a place I frequent while in Manchester. Staff has always been attentive and hard working. Sometimes a wait but if we just turn up it is expected. Lots of options on the menu, firm favourites have to be the papaya salad and thai beef spicy salad.
You can't fault that lunch menu either they have on. A bargain for the food you get. Would recommend if you like authentic thai taste. If in doubt just book a reservation.
B. S.
Superb food after a long time. Really enjoyed it with family and friends. Look out for the happy hours offers.. superb
Review 2: A big drop in quality and standards. The pork starter was dripping with oil and so was the mixed platter. End of spectrum kind of difference. My earlier review was 5 and now it’s 3. I don’t think I’ll go there again.
L. H.
Tasty food, pleasant helpful staff. Even though we were delayed they rescheduled our reservation. Excellent customer service
C. D.
Food absolutely delicious. Staff fast bit friendly and the house wine good. (But)
N. H.
Lovely food and nice atmosphere
M.
My favourite restaurant bar none. Excellent deals at lunchtime through to early evening. Never left feeling anything but very happy. Can get very busy with city workers 12 - 1.30 on weekdays then rush eases off. Just typing the review makes me want to return asap. Lots of Thai and asian people eat here. Close to the Chinese arch in the heart of Chinatown. Simply superb.
A. R.
Great food, great atmosphere, great prices.
P.
Great food and service. Generous portions served of everything we ordered. The Red Curry in particular was definitely one of the best I’ve tasted in a Thai restaurant. Would be happy to visit again the next time I’m in Manchester.
J. C.
One of my favorite Thai restaurants in town. Often bring visitors from the University of Manchester and the staff is always very helpful and accommodating. Try it!
V. W.
One of the best Thai food I had in Manchester.
R. T.
Very nice food and a well populated gluten free menu.
Main portions were just right for lunch, might have wanted a bit extra for an evening meal (add a starter / side).
Seemed on the spicier side compared to other Thai places.
S. M.
Delicious food and great service!
They have so many dishes on the menu so there is something for everyone. Loved the Massaman curry and the Pad Thai.
The atmosphere is really lovely although gets busy even on weekdays!
If you bring a cake for a birthday they play a really cute song which adds a nice touch!
S. B.
Without a doubt my favourite Thai restaurant in Manchester. Thank God its back open! And the amazing value lunch menu is back. Excellent food and service 😋
A. K.
Superb food. Busy but kind staff.
D. B.
After eating Thai food at various different events and not really enjoying it, this place was recommended by a work colleague who now loves Thai food after trying this place. Never the less, i visit Try Thai durning my lunch and was astounded by the flavours and service. The food was amazing, full of flavour and nothing like ive had before. Service was fast and friendly. They even have a lunchtime menu with 3 courses starting at £10. What more can you ask for?!
P. C.
Always a delicious treat, Try Thai had been my favourite Manchester restaurant for some time and thankfully doesn't look like changing :)
S. S.
I haven't been here in a while, but I would recommend it to anyone looking for a decent meal. Fast service, great food. Best to book, but can usually accommodate small groups. Great if you want to eat Thai food, but aren't 100% sure what to order, and what goes with your meal. Very detailed menu. Great drinks choice as well..... hmmmm.... when am I going back again.....
S. G.
At the heart of China Town, Manchester, the experience at this beautifully designed restaurant was delightful. The setting is perfect for any company - date, partner, children, office party, family dinner or chilling with friends. We didn't find any table free for more than 3 minutes. The staff was amiable and the service was rather quick. The food was absolutely delectable. Portions are enough for two and flavours are so well balanced that you want to eat all of it. We tried the Pad Thai, Masamman, King Prawn with Vermicelli (starter) and a Thai Specia Tea with jasmine flower. No complaints! A must go if in Manchester. If going after 6pm, do book in advance.
A. R.
Tried the Green and Red Curry here. The best by far! Would also recommend a sit in, the restaurant is majestically designed, full of cultural artifacts and features.
N. M.
The pad thai noodles were really yummy. Good portion sizes too. Beautiful restaurant and great service.
E. F. (.
Great place this, been twice lovely food both times. In both cases we booked the banquets which even at around £25-35 a head it feels really reasonable because you get a lot and the quality of the food is really very good. The bonus is that if you can't finish, the staff make no issue of you asking to have your left overs boxed up to take away, which is great because a banquet can double up as lunch for the next three days! Despite the establishments size, of being two floors, it actually doesn't feel that crowded or impersonal. been twice, once as a couple and once as a group of four and never had issues with service.
K. M.
They offer a special 3 course lunch menu that is very reasonably priced and has loads of starter and main course choices. This time my friend and I both had the spicy Thai beef salad to start and then shared a red beef curry and green chicken curry with boiled rice. The starters were fantastically balanced with hot, sweet, sour and salty and both curries were really flavoursome and authentic tasting dishes.
J. R.
Very tasty and authentic Thai
red curry. Great portion size, great value for money and utterly yummy.
D. F.
We were a party of 9, booked in at 11:30pm on a Saturday night. The staff were EXCELLENT, especially considering how late we were eating - they were very attentive, helped explain some menu items, and kept our water topped up.
The quality of the food was great, we all had starters and mains, and everything was served promptly. I really can't stress enough how nice the staff were, and I'll definitely be eating here again.
G. D.
We love hanging out. Yesterday we came to this excellent place which friends recommended to us. We had a lovely experience there with first-rate cooking and an efficient stuff and a professional cook. We added this venue in our list and we will surely visit again very soon. We warmly recommend.
R. H.
The food here is so tasty and really well priced as well as a good cocktail menu. It's in a large building in China town over two floors so there are some stairs involved in getting to either part of the restaurant. The staff are really friendly and helpful and it's nicely decorated inside.
M. P.
Lovely Thai restaurant, the best in Manchester
H. W.
It was my first time trying Thai food and I’m quite a fussy eater so I was a bit nervous. I had a yellow curry and it was so good that I haven’t actually stopped thinking about it since! My boyfriend had the pad Thai and loved it too! I would definitely recommend try thai to my friends because it was a really good price and the cocktails were amazing too!
D. G.
Had arrived an hour early for my table booking and they were very accommodating . They were very friendly and found us a table for 2. They promptly took our orders and it arrived without hardly any wait. It was delicious and the atmosphere was just perfect. Will definitely be coming again and would highly recommend this restaurant 👌
A. B.
We loved it. Tasty food.
T.
Both food and service us very good.
Y. Q.
Where do I begin...Staff was very patient, understanding and professional, especially with all the many Covid rules that has to be followed. Atmosphere was soothing and relaxing and to cap it all, the food was 'grub-ingly' fabulous. Highly recommend.
S. P.
The best and affordable.. very delicious 😋
M. S.
The place is nice and it's a refreshing restaurant that has the sour and spicy flavors South East Asians are used to. It is a welcome break from all the hearty English dishes and the pungent Indian curries. It is very refreshing even for me, a Cambodian to eat these flavors that I miss so much in my long trip to England. It's a very nice place with nice staff but for me as a Cambodian it's expensive but then again everything in England is.
D. B.
I love coming here. Brilliant food, fast service, and surprisingly big portions too. Would definitely recommend to anyone who's a fan of Thai food, although watch out for chilli's in the dishes, sometimes not to obvious and will blow your head off.
K. D.
Food was alright but half the menu wasn't available when I came in. Don't know if that's normal for the restaurant or if I got unlucky.
K. C.
Really delicious authentic Thai food, the restaurant is nice inside. If you're veggie then be careful of fish sauce (you can ask to have it taken out). Saying that they do have a vegan and gf menu separate :)
E. S.
Good place, nicely decorated for X-mas, good service, good food. Will be back again
S. N.
Try Thai offer a fantastic value lunch menu with a lovely selection of dishes and the staff are very knowledgeable about allergy information. The website contains a Gluten Free guide which is useful for those who do not eat Gluten, and mean that you can make an informed decision; the majority of the dishes are naturally gluten free, so Try Thai comes as highly recommended 👍
L.
Loved this restaurant. Delicious dishes, lots of variety to choose from! I'm not from Thailand, but in my opinion this is the best Thai restaurant in the city centre.
T. A.
This is a nice little gem of a restaurant. I consider it a hole in the wall because the entrance is pretty tricky to spot. We ordered red curry with steamed rice and it hit the spot. If you want to be on the adventurous, try the tea. It not only tastes good but looks pleasant.
A. M.
Good lunch time offers. Food nice and tasty
J. R.
This restaurant is always busy, but it always has excellent service, the food is great and this is definitely one of our favorite places to eat in Chinatown now we've been a couple of times. Definitely book, as we hardly managed to get in the first time, even on a Monday night!
A. S.
Miss the Food So Much!
Used to frequent this place when I was living in Manchester as a Student.
Loved the food here!! The spicy Papaya Salad, Corn Cakes and the Red Thai Curry were my go-to dishes to eat there
It is always better to book the table prior specially on the busy nights
B. M.
I absolutely love this place! As you enter the you are always greeted by friendly staff. I have visited on quiet days and busy queued to the door days. The service is consistent. The place is clean, modern and spacious. The menu has a wide range of variety. I have tried serval dishes and they all have been delicious and well present. You must try some of the cocktails while you are there! I have never tried any of the desserts but I probably would say they are filling as they look. The price for meal for 2 works out to be 40-45 including staters, main and sides which isn't too bad. I've Eaten there several times. Look forward to eating there again soon!
H. M.
Having been here countless of times, I think it is time a review is written. The menu is incredibly helpful as it has lots of photos to help you decide on what to order. There isn't one dish I wouldn't recommend as everything is just so delicious, fresh and authentic. The service is good as the waiters often ask you if you want to have everything at once and eat in a "tapas" style or follow through with the courses in a timely manner. The service could be improved if the waiters and waitresses can be more attentive when refilling your glass with water. The prices are reasonable and overall the place has a great ambience. If you're looking for lovely thai food in an unpretentious place, then you need to give Try Thai a go!
D.
Ate at the restaurant this evening, had chicken satay starters which were great, also the king prawn crispy noodles which were sweet and crispy. Had the pad Thai and red curry with sticky rice for the mains. They were both delicious and the portion sizes were great. Had a couple of beers as well and came in at just over £40 which we thought was a good price. Would certainly recommend this restaurant to other people. They also have a take away downstairs so perfect if you live close by!
An excellent restaurant!
E. S.
Always amazing fresh cooked food. The meal combos are such good value for money. I would recommend to anyone. I’ll always keep coming here. I’ve been several times and not had a bad meal yet.
G. M. M. M.
We have been there twice before and all the time the service and food quality has been fantastic. Having lived in Asia for many years we have been looking for food that has proper authentic taste and Try Thai does not disappoint. We will definitely be going back and we strongly recommend this fantastic restaurant with a fantastic staff and atmosphere!

Some very exciting and show-stopping herbal teas. Service is very variable but order the right dish and it tastes fantastic. However I don't think the standard is consistent. Overall a decent meal.
J. G.
This place is brilliant. Good service, great value, and delicious food. Love it.
C. C.
Nice food. Decent prices. Not in a rush to go back but defo would if I was in the area.
K. Y.
Nice to have a coffee shop you can really chill is. Great for solo as well
K. P.
This is my most favorite Thai restaurant I've ever been with the best food To eat. I hold all Thai restaurants to this one as the Gold standard. It remains the only restaurant I will eat Thai salad from and every time I visit England I travel to Manchester just to eat here even if its from London. The atmosphere is clean and calming and the service is good. The focus is entirely on the food and I enjoy it every time. I recommend everyone to try it at least once.
J. B. C.
It was a fantastic dining experience. The food was amazing and we basically rolled out of the restaurant. Tea drinks were interesting as the had flowers thday few pout of them. Service was friendly and helpful. Our group was happy and we are definitely coming back again.
F. B.
Friendly, efficient and pleased to serve the public.
M. A.
Order the Coconut Rice, Coconut Drink and the Stir Fry Oyster Beef!
Amazing!!
Thank you for the experience but the service wasn’t the “best” - took so much time for orders and maintaining the table other than that, extremely friendly and great food
W. T.
tasty thai food
X. Z.
Aloy food and good service.
Good price as well.
C. C.
One of the best thai dinners I have ever had. Truly sensational. Masaman curry perfection
S. K.
I had vegetarian pad thai and green curry with coconut rice. It was lovely. Service is quite nice too. Will definitely visit again.
G. P.
I think potentially the go to Thai restaurant in Manchester. Always busy even on a weekday. Garlic king prawns are immense. Good sized portions, very very tasty food. If you like Thai food, this place is a must. If you haven't had Thai food before ... you need to come and Try Thai.

One of the best Thai restaurant in the city. Great service, authentic Thai food and well priced. The lunch menu is around £9 for starter, main & coffee, and the quality is amazing for the price. Diner experience is also great, with a large selection on the menu. Try Thai is not the most fancy place in the city but it does serve authentic, well presented and tasty dishes, always with a smile!
M. S.
I regularly come to Try Thai for lunch as it is one of my favourite restaurants in Manchester. The lunch menu is good value for money and there of dishes available on the menu. I always have the yellow curry which is highly recommend!

Excellent food and atmosphere.
We came here as a group of six people before the Ed Sheeran concert having been looking for a Thai in Manchester and we were delighted that we had chosen this place. It's a bit hard to find, tucked away on the edge of Chinatown and very near to the rear entrance to the Novotel.
Reception is on the first floor and we were seated on the second floor. The menu is extensive and prices were reasonable. The quality of the food was great and all of us enjoyed food that was well cooked and brilliantly spicy! Service was good - the only slow part was trying to get the bill at the end so that we didn't miss too much of the concert.
Thanks for a great meal.

Tasty, flavoursome food (veg). Tried different mains, all have been reasonably good. Did not like the veg tempura- very oily. Have to mindful to ask them not to add any fish sauce to the veg food.
C. B.
Amazing food and massive tasty menu. Lovely cosy decor. Service let it down for me. Had to chase drinks orders ask for more drinks etc. No check backs to see if we were OK. I prefer more attentive staff. There were enough of them!
E. H.
Been here on numerous times for work lunches and every time it has been enjoyable, they are really good at sitting large parties with little notice and food always comes quickly and we have never been disappointed. It isn't fancy and its probably not the most Authentic Thai but is really tasty. Value for money it is great around £7.50 for 3 courses!

Took my fiancée on a surprise date to this restaurant. We had a great time. We'd never tried thai food before, but we both came out satisfied. Our only issue was the somewhat cramped atmosphere. The place was heaving, and it all felt a little claustrophobic. Still, it comes recommended.
S. E.
Lunchtime deal is really good, tenner for starter, main and a coffee/ice cream. Just the right level of spicy and good portion sizes.
Not a fancy place, but great value.
Arrive early if you can, especially on the weekends because it gets busy

I eat in this lovely spot quite a bit! This is my favorite restaurant to pass a nice evening. I go to this spot frequently. The meals are very tasty, the staff members are welcoming and the price is good. I enjoy being in this restaurant for a good meal.
A. N.
Decent thai. Stir fry duck with tamarind sauce, more on sweet side but good nevertheless. Hot and sour king prawn soup was solid. Food came out quick during busy lunch service.
J. A.
Fantastic food served in a great atmosphere! The staff here were very friendly and service was good. They have a good range on the heat scale for those spice lovers!
R. C.
Excellent food in a very pleasant restaurant
d. q.
Come here several times authentic Thai :D
p. p.
Amazing food ! A must try for anyone who likes Thai :) for starters we had the battered aubergines in Penang sauce and minced pork toasties. Both were delicious. For mains we shared the pineapple fried rice, egg fried rice, prawns in red curry, soft shelled crab in garlic pepper sauce and pork belly pad Thai. Wiped our plates clean ! Despite having no space for dessert, we ended up getting the New York style cheesecake, which was totally worth the "will-burst-right-now" feeling :D overall, a great Sunday night diner with fun, femme fatale for company !!!
R. M.
I've been here many times for a lunchtime jaunt with work. Generally there is never less than eight of us who go along (sometimes many more) and the staff are always attentive and the service is always fast even when there are a fair amount of tables full. They have a quick set menu that you can partake in if you're in a rush, and the value for money on this menu is brilliant. Oh, and overall the food is tasty as, too!
C. P.
Delicious range of Thai food available at great prices.
We ordered a banquet selection that had a great range within. Service was very friendly and food arrived promptly. Was great to eat at a restaurant where the spicy food was actually spicy!
J. “. H.
Whelp, not gonna go there again. First time was good. But every dish is way too sweet the second time. I actually brought few friends to try out Thai food and was pretty embarrassed. Not to mention this is one of, if not, the most Thai restaurant in town.
R. P.
I've gone to Try Thai three times now. Service is excellent and the dim lighting makes for a nice atmosphere. Having been to Thailand many times, I can confidently say the dishes were close to the real deal. The Thai Holy Basil dishes are delicious and (perhaps too) fiery. The egg-fried rice (and its smell!) really did remind me of my times in Bangkok. At one visit during the Christmas period, we were all given crackers which was a nice gesture.
C. B.
Went at lunch time with friends. Beautiful large restaurant upstairs. Portion sizes are pretty big even for the lunch menu. The food is very nicely presented and taste beautiful. Well recommended.
D. M.
5 stars for the food! However, they could probably improve on staffs' friendliness.
M. G.
Very good Thai food indeed. In addition the 7 of us were very well looked after. It was a hot evening and particularly liked the way the staff kept my glass of water constantly topped up.
J. M.
Excellent place, Really nice with great staff and delicious food. The only thing i would say is the starters are over priced. £8 for a try thai starter platter which consisted of a tiny piece of chicken, tiny piece of beef and a tiny fish cake. Good food , very tasty and would recommend. The quality is their but they really need to put the quantily up a bit.
T. F.
This was our first visit.
The food was great! We vsited on Valentines evening the set menu was good value for money. The only negative was the reception on our arrival, as the receptionist was in a bad mood and not at all welcoming, her attitude did affect us on this romantic evening out. If this issue was fixed I'd recommend.
m. h.
Fast service even though it was a busy night. Delicious food. Attentive staff!
C. S.
Absolutely like this place. Nice service and good place to have lunch/dinner.
A bit cramp I would say.
Went there for more than 5 times for meet ups with friends and family. Worth the money, especially the lunch deal. Portions are a bit too big for normal appetites, but if have them without having rice would be fine. Big eaters like me find it pretty suitable. (I got more rice from my fellow female companions who are on diet, so I have them all with my curry, and my tummy LOVES it)
A word of warning,
3-4 chillies on the menus are very hot. The 4 chillies are absolutely terrifying. Had to take away the food, and have with more rice from home. Lasted for more than 2 meals for me and a friend. Just terrifying.
K. B.
Excellent place to eat Thai food, but advisable to book as it gets very busy.
D. C.
Really nice Thai food every time. Really good sized menu that gets a bit hard to choose at times because it's all so good. It is a little expensive for China town but there's that whole thing of Thai food being more expensive than Chinese for some reason. Would recommend this to anyone providing you can handle a little heat. Also gets busy at times.
D. A.
Great atmosphere, busy Saturday night but still very good service and excellent food.
N. P.
Consistently amazing. I've been coming here for 7 years and I've not once had a bad experience, the take away is equally as good as eating in. Highly recommend.
B. L.
Best Thai food in Manchester, extremely friendly stuff. Spend many happy hours there.
f. i.
Beware please try to order spicy dishes if you don't like sweet dishes.
I ordered Spicy Thai salad with beef meat as starter. The beef was very crispy and tasty and as the name suggested was very spicy.
I ordered red curry with sweet basil as main dish which include either boiled or fried rice.
This is a medium spiced dish, has lot of flavors and very tasty.
The restaurant has a very good ambience and staff is very cordial.
M. S.
Excellent Thai restaurant serving really authentic dishes. With a price range of about 10-12£ per person, it's reasonable and the food is delicious. If you're looking for a rich curry that's not overly spicy, try the Massaman! Really enjoyed it's tangy, nutty curry base that goes great with the coconut rice.
V. C.
Great food, great value... family had the red curry beef (awesome), pad Thai and BBQ Ribs... all the food was tasty... server was very nice and attentive... one of the best Thai I’ve had!
J. K. M.
Probably the tastiest Thai food I've ever tried in Dublin and in Manchester. It's very affordable too. Loved the interior of the place and how the food was presented. I highly recommend Try Thai. Definitely try their Seafood Pad Thai.
B. J.
Always brilliant! Even without a reservation, I’ve never had to wait long for a table (although I would recommend booking for a group). I just work through the cocktails while I wait. Try a fresh tasting ‘Lychee Storm’. The food is reliably good as is the service. My personal faves are the Pad Thai, Noodles in Red Curry Soup, and the curries. Don’t forget to ask for spicy prawn crackers to munch on before your food arrives.
Z. H.
Food was amazing and atmosphere very authentic. They especially made an effort for valentine's day and gave a rose on each table. Fyi chicken lamb and beef halal here is an extra bonus
S. B.
I visit Manchester a few times a year and I always make an effort to come here. One of my favourite restaurants 😍
I. K.
This restaurant serves good authentic Thai Cuisine at the average price of meals in the UK. A Plate of Chicken Basil Fried Rice cost about 19£. But it is worth the money if you are craving for an asian meal.
The place is fairly crowded during lunch/ dinner but the meals were served very timely and hot. The staff were friendly and prompt with their service.
A good option for muslim travellers as they do provide Halal Meat Options in the menu. HOWEVER, they still do serve pork and alcoholic drinks in the same restaurant.
A note to non-spicy eating customers, be wary of the spiciness level of your dishes as it can very spicy.
D. R.
A great Thai restaurant. We took advantage of the early bird menu. Swift efficient service. Friendly staff and really good food. Would definitely recommend and return again.
P. C.
Five star top notch authentic Thai food. but service bit lacklustre. As long as your expectations are pitched accordingly then absolutely well worth a visit. Will definitely return myself.
W. H.
It isn't perfect but I have been 5 or so times and have not been disappointed yet. The food is very tasty, although perhaps a little sweet. The service is good and the food is not too expensive. If I am ever in the mood for Thai food and am in Manchester then this is my first choice.
A. M.
My favourite restaurant in all of Manchester. It's absolutely amazing in every aspect - The best food in Manchester, great staff, brilliant atmosphere. They even have a really good lunch special! Definitely worth a trip, hands down, every time.
p. m.
This place is so amazing. The food the decor. The cocktail's are great too.
If you have never visited here or thought about it. Don't think just do it you will not be disappointed.
J. S.
We were very happy to get a table. We got really good service from friendly waiters. Food was absolutely amazing and delicious in reasonable prices. If you in to Thai food please visit.
G. W.
Had the rose banquet for 2 the food was delightful very fresh good sized portions lovely staff. Would definitely visit again already planning my next visit.
C. P.
Favourite Thai restaurant! Staff are aware of vegan options and a kind waitresses double checked everything for us but we didn’t miss out - all the food we have there is delicious! Highly recommend!
B. O.
All the food taste really gooooood... Reminds me my holidays in Thailand. Nice and friendly staff
D. B.
My favourite restaurant in Manchester, bar none. Outstanding, flavoursome, fresh food at reasonable prices. It's the kind of place I recommend constantly, and try to influence nights out towards there where I can. Try the chilli & holy basil stir fry with crispy belly pork!
M. E.
5* on Trip Advisor and perfectly warrants it. Complementary starter of moorish pickled vegetables. Nicely spicy Vegetarian Yellow Thai curry accompanied by glorious sticky rice, chased down by a velvet smooth Merlot Noir! Go on an empty stomach, the prices are great..at Try Thai you'll want to try plenty. Free parking on street meters after 8pm... shouldn't mention that, where am I going to park!!
R. J.
My favourite Thai restaurant. I thought I didn't like Thai food before I came here with friends and I fell in love with it. Has to be my favourite place to eat out ever since. I highly recommend the Pad Thai and flat noodle dishes. Even if you thought you might not like thai cuisine give it another try here.
A. T.
This is one of the best restaurants ever. Not just best Thay restaurants ... I mean best restaurants. The quality of the food is out of this world. I've never had a non-amazing meal at this place. And I go there A LOT. Have done for years. Excellent efficient service.
J. L. (.
Friendly staff, very helpful with menu choices if you're not sure what you want. Food is always amazing. I recommend soft shell crab in chili holy basil sauce for those who like a sweet and spicy kick!
A. C.
I tried a duck hot thick curry, coconut rice and a seafood coconut soup. The soup was ok (a bit bland for my taste), the duck and the rice were tasty. I would say that given the price, I´d rather go somewhere else. Out of 3 people who served us, 2 were kind and there was a very grumpy waitress.
Not bad, but don´t know if I´ll come back.
A. L.
I organised an evening meal here for a group of 10 and i wasn't sure what to expect as it was my first time. I've read many positive reviews and I'm glad to be able to add mine to the growing stack! Absolutely lovely food with taste sensations worth coming back over and over again! I tried the king prawns with morning glory, jumbo king prawns in chu chi curry sauce, and seabass with mango salad. They were all amazing!
O. H.
Been 30+ times over several years and never disappointed. 10/10 recommend the lunch menu (one of the best value in Manchester) and specialty flowering teas.
J. N.
Very good quality for the money. Weekday dinner 2sets of menus but you can.jave starter+main+coffee for a tenner. Portions of a very good size and quality is top notch. You won't be willing to try any other asian restaurant in Chinatown after been on.this one
V. T.
Really lovely good. Great vegetarian selection. We had a vegetarian banquet and everything was tasty, it was varied and enough to feed several good appetites. Recommended. We'll go again.
I. f.
I've never had a bad meal here. The cocktails and teas are amazing - both in taste and in presentation. More like works of art than drinks!
The chairs are a bit uncomfortable after sitting in them for an hour and it can feel quite cozy as the tables are close together. The food is always delicious though and there is a great veggie range. They are happy to tweak the dishes to suit where they can but some of it is pre-made (eg. the hot and sour soup and the fried rice) so those ones are less tweakable.
A. K.
I'm not an expert in authentic Thai food and I've been told by some people that Try Thai isn't authentic but I can't knock the food I've had there - hot, thick, red curry every time...I love it! Often a favourite for work lunches as they offer quick service and pretty good value lunch menu but wouldn't really recommend for a special occasion. Don't be put off by the entrance, once you go upstairs the decor is nice and you can even have a laugh at the images they voluntarily choose to put on loop on the TV's.
M. P.
Lovely food & good service. Lunch time menu available too.
C. W.
My first time at Try Thai and i can categorically say it will not be my last. A friendly welcome, attentive servers and the food was absolutely delicious and plentiful. As for price, bang on for lunch. Highly recommend a visit.
J. C.
Very cheap lunch deal which is wonderful value, two courses and a coffee/ice cream for £9.50! Staff are very pleasant, pad thai is excellent as are the satay chicken and the aubergine starters. Would definitely recommend if you like thai food!
T. D.
Delicious, authentic Thai cuisine.
The 3 course lunch menu was excellent. I started with a fragrant, spicy Thai Salad and followed it up with the classic Massaman Curry which tasted great. The lunch meal finally ends with ice cream that could do with being a bit creamier.
Expect it to be very busy both during lunch and evenings.
C. B.
Great food good prices
M. A.
Suprisingly tasty food considering it was on the "cheap" meal deal menu. Big portions & came relatively quickly. Only misses out on the final star because I had to explain my drink order (a large coke) a few times before I got it. Really minor but its the only thing i could find fault in
N. A.
Love the food here. Probably the best Thai food I've had in Manchester. Lovely and helpful staff. They also have some great offers on during the week.
I. N.
The food was amazing. So flavourful, just the right portion sizes, and came out very fast. The staff were friendly. Will be going again
K. S.
Great food. Get there early otherwise it gets really busy and service slows down due to sheer demand. Food is some of the best Thai I've ever had.
C. H.
Delicious food, super fast service and very friendly waitress. Fantastic! Gets very busy, though. I'd imagine you'd need to book in advance for a weekend meal.
S. R.
Great food (number 52 was delicious) though our food arrived before my friend's pint was delivered from the bar with taps on the level below. Modern decor and a great menu. Would come back.
S. W.
We had a brilliant meal again at Try Thai restaurant last night with a party of six who all said the same.
The quality of the food was superb, as well as staff and ambiance.
I highly recommend this restaurant.
S. D.
Always great service and fantastic food. If service is ever a little slow it’s simple, they are busy all the time and maybe a staff member called in sick. Brilliant restaurant five stars from me.
M.
Often a place to go to after work. I love what's on offer and if you don't know what you want the staff are pretty good at recommending dishes. The service is always quick. Have returned a few times and always impressed by the quality of the food.
J. S.
Great afternoon deal. Coriander beef is the nicest, tastiest food on the planet. Great restaurant and great food. Lots of different teas and cocktails and mocktails you won't have tried. Lovely place and staff.
D. F.
Bottom line is if you like Thai food then you will love try Thai. If you have never had Thai give it a go instead of heading into one of the Chinese restaurants, you won't regret it!
I. J.
Excellent Thai food. Busy restaurant for a good reason. Worst thing was choosing from the massive selection on the menu, everything looked delicious! Great speedy service too.
a. a.
Taste is good.. atmosphere is good.. food portions could be better. I would still recommend to visit. I'm a very big eater so most people would find it enough.
B. L.
Amazing value set menu. The battered king prawn in penang sauce starter is amazing! And the thick red curry is the best I've had. (my mum thought the portions were too small though 🐽)
P. E. F.
Been coming here since 2012... I've never been disappointed with the food. Must place to go if you love seafood. Spicy seabass with mango salad and coconut rice is to die for. Stir fried soft shell crab in yellow curry powder should be illegal because it's so addictive.
P. T.
Been going there regularly for quick lunches on a working day. Service is swift, food is good quality and excellent value for money.
The staff really get the idea that you need to get back to work,so don't mess about.
G.
This place is a real gem in Chinatown. We loved the food (if you like heat try the green papaya salad!), the service was excellent, the atmosphere and lighting was spot-on! The only problem we encounted was trying to choose what to have from the menu. We wanted to try everything! We will absolutely be back and I can't recommend this place enough.
J. D.
Great food! Probably the best chicken texture I've ever had in my coconut milk soup. Service was a bit slow - empty drinks and had to practically beg for the check.
