J. S.I really like Arlos. I went with my two adult children for brunch today. The atmosphere is very relaxing, although quite noisy when it gets busy. The staff are attentive and helpful. The food was good although I felt the portions were on the small side for the price. Although the cake made up for that!
We enjoyed it but felt it was a bit pricey today for what we had.

I had the vegetarian breakfast, very well presented food and friendly manager and staff...£11 full vegetarian breakfast £1 extra for sourdough bread, for the price I think it wouldn't hurt to have two pieces of bread in the price instead of one cut in half other than that full marks!

N. A.I was really looking forward to a meal here but was sadly disappointed with my lukewarm burger and the subsequent service.
The outside seating here is superb with good strong heaters and transparent covers, so the sunlight can still get through. Service initially was attentive and friendly. Particularly the young man who was very welcoming and friendly. Some nice fellow diners also.
My friend ordered a steak which she really enjoyed. The peppercorn sauce was superb. My burger and fries (£13.50) must have been made well before my friends steak as it was barely lukewarm - the melted cheese had solidified and the flavour was therefore lacking. The fries bizarrely were still warm and I enjoyed them. I left it till half way through the meal to tell my friend when she asked how I was enjoying my food. I didn't want to make a fuss though
My friend however (being all about fairness) mentioned it to the waitress. The waitress half explained that it was because the burger was left out, but stopped before completing the sentence. I suspected as such.
They offered a new burger but I didn't want another burger as my friend was almost done with her meal and we had waited a fair while for the meals we had in front of us. As I didn't want another burger I was given an apology instead. Service thereafter was a bit rubbish and we weren't asked about desserts.
Not really good enough when the food and drinks are pricey to begin with. In hindsight I should have said something straight away or asked for a dessert instead. Disappointed on this occasion

P.Wonderful relaxing atmosphere. Staff welcoming and friendly. Fabulous food, had Arlo's open sandwich, really tasty and filling. Followed it with chocolate cake, wow definitely not for the faint hearted, gorgeous I just couldn't stop until it was gone. Premises are user friendly as on one level, well worth a visit for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner or simply a coffee and cake

Unfortunately two of the younger staff tho pleasant and efficient were wearing masks, never over their noses, which is distasteful and pointless in these times.
Beer flat out of bottles tends to mean glasses need renovating, replaced or just a good hot wash, cold rinse. Nothing that can't have a quick fix by the owner's.

Could be part of the plan mind........I'd finished my first one before the food arrived so had to spend another £3.20 on another one!

M. B.Realy enjoyed our visit to the Arlo Bistro, the food is a little different to the norm. but very very good, the veg and salad ingredients were very fresh, the whole meal was first class and the service was spot on.
D. C.Great little cafe that we’ve visited a few times as it’s close to where we have family. Menu is not large but good variety of options. Open sandwich is a favourite of mine and the kids like the fish and chips or beans on toast. Good selection of eggs options for brunch. Tends to be quite busy the couple of times I have visited around lunchtime. Does not take reservations Friday - Sunday but I would recommend trying to book at other times. Only has on street parking but we’ve managed to find a spot of the road or on one of the neighbouring streets.
A.Lovely decor, quirky... We ordered poached eggs, unfortunately 3 of ours were rock solid, they had no problems in returning and making a fresh lot. Service was a little long, but they were really busy. Waitresses were polite as was the owner. Great selection for brekkie, their flat whites were made to perfection. If you like brownies, this will not disappoint... Thick goey and melt in your mouth. What an awesome find!!!

The area they're located in is a quiet town centre just outside of Newcastle - not heaps of parking available, but it is worth the effort for a nice breakfast.
J. H.Had a great time at Arlo - parked here for a couple of hours between meetings. Had the full veggie breakfast which was great and ended up staying for lunch as well. Can recommend the tempura prawns and roast pumpkin salad. Staff are also very friendly!
j. T.This is the BEST restaurant in Jesmond by far. They have a varety of original dishes and put great attention into the products used to elavorate them. Always check the three mains of the day! Also the deserts are astonishing and overall its good value for money.

So once we finished our food we were asked if we would like dessert....however out of the 11 desserts there were only 2 left ! We declined and then said we would just have coffees instead only to then be told the coffee machine had been turned off !!
We have frequented Arlo many times over the years and this has been the first time the customer service was lacking, however it may be a while before we return.

F. M.Enjoyed the food from an interesting menu. Riomy restaurant area with seating outside under cover with heaters if required. Good selection of wines and beers. Although friendly enough, service is disorganised. Twice now our bookings incorrectly recorded. Attention while seated is somewhat hit and miss and used glasses and bottles are left lying around on the table cluttering things up. If that was sorted it wouldn't be hard to add another star.

Visited on a weekday evening and reluctantly ordered some food to go with that coffee as the staff were being a bit pushy about it, which was a bit strange because the restaurant wasn't even half full at that point.
The food took 40 minutes to arrive as they had then just completely forgotten about our order.
I would have rated this place probably 2 stars but the coffee itself, and the food was actually excellent so we actually left quite happy.

Interesting selection of drinks. Lunch menu reassuringly short. Food was really nice. The "Italian" chicken burger was a whole breast and cooked well, juicy and very good. The truffle mayo was pungent and thoughtfully served in a little side dish rather than slathered over the plate.
Nice modern decor and eclectic clientele. Good atmosphere.

H. M.I've been here for both breakfast and lunch and it was fantastic. There are such a range of options and the food is really delicious. Service is pretty good too. The best part is definitely that they give brownie pieces with your coffee or tea!
A. K.Visited as per recommendation from a friend quoting Arlo as 'one of the best places for Brunch in Newcastle,' which is backed up by a claim on Google. Arlo certainly lived up to this reputation. Visited with two others for brunch. The place was very busy on a late Sunday morning and we had to wait around five minutes as we had not booked a table. Once a table was available we were sat down and handed menus. The service from the waitresses was fantastic. They were attentive and were always on hand, plus the wait was fairly short. Impressive, given how busy it was.
Food was fresh, well presented and the cafe was clean. Will return.
D. S.Coffee is great and the cakes are incredible!... Very busy so make sure you reserve a table especially if there are more than two of you. Arlos open chicken sandwich is a big favourite and for the healthy breakfast types they do a mean porridge!

Staff were very friendly, really can't fault the front of house. My husband's English breakfast was cold ( apart from the sausages) and my eggs Salvador was cold too. I took this to a waitress who was quick to take them away. Replacements came but this time my poached eggs weren't cooked thoroughly /whites still runny. Needless to say I didn't want anything else by this stage. The waitress did everything she could to rectify this and we weren't charged for anything, but sadly been put off.
I will say that my cappuccino was very good though!

Pleasant location - you can walk there from the centre (Hancock museum) via exhibition park, hitting Wylam brewery on the way, and then through the net of old streets of Jesmond. Highly recommended.
