What a fantastic restaurant and bar, so quirky with an absolutely beautiful terrace area. The food and drinks are spit on, good value for money.An excellent vibe. First pub I've seen offering expresso martinis on draught.Highly recommended

I did not have high expectations going into this restaurant but it is amazing!! It serves the best fish and chips I have ever had!! I could not finish as it was a massive fish and they offered to put it in a takeaway box The restaurant is very classy and has one of the most comprehensive drinks menu. The bar is properly stocked up with more spirits than you can count. Table service was excellent and it is child friendly Lots of cosy dining spaces and I think I saw some couches

Booked in for Sunday dinner, arrived early but were seated straight away. We both had the beef Sunday dinner, tasted great. The usual veg; roasties, mash, carrots, broccoli & red cabbage. Special mention to the Yorkshire pudding which I thought was really tasty (as far as Yorkshire puddings go!). Followed up with Eton mess sundae, didn't look much however every spoonful was a taste sensation!

Trendy restaurant/bar. The food was very good but high priced for the portion. I had what they called 2 seabass fillets but was either fillets from baby fish of one fillet halved which was disappointing. Ambience was good, Trendy crowd and enjoyed my evening.

The staff were superb and the food was delicious. I had a ribeye steak, cooked to perfection, with 'dirty' mashed potato and poached egg - beautiful. The farmyard sharing platter was great too. Fairly decent choice of craft beer and ales which is always nice to see - although prices seemed a bit on the steep side. Lovely atmosphere inside.

Love the place. I tend to come here for nights out at the weekend. It’s a great bar to meet up with friends or for parties. If you are looking for a place to book for a celebration you should consider this place. I should know as just had one there. The music is not in your face and they have decent bands on every Friday and Saturday night. The drinks maybe seen as pricey by some. Pints are typically around around £5-£6 and includes Morretti, Heineken and strong bow cider. Doubles and cocktails are around £8-£10. But they some amazing cocktails 🍸 check out their menu. They sometimes have a 2-for-1 happy hour between around 10pm and 11pm. So that’s the time to drink. If you arrive late you may have to pay an entrance fee of around £7, but hey it’s open well after 1am. The age range is typically between 20 and 50. If you need to park a car, there are plenty of spots to park round the corner (next to the Carriage pub) and it’s free after 6pm. There is an external terrace at the back for those that need some fresh air or need to smoke. You can reserve seats / tables on the main floor at £10 per seat, which is refunded once you start buying drinks at the bar. You can also book the terrace upstairs for private parties and meals, however, you need to have a minimum of 40 people and spend at least £450 on food. There is also a private dining area (for up to 24 folk) you be an book. Failing that you can just book tables in their restaurant. If you are looking for a larger function room, well they have another one in the lower basement floor.

Yum yum yum. It's so good! The service was great with Stan helping us with our orders. I ordered the dip flip burger: beef patties were delicious, onion rings were great and the buns were fantastic. Sirloin was a little dry, but it's cuz its slightly thin so it's fine :) the sweet potato fries were great as usual along with the homemade tomato relish <3 the only thing I didn't really like abt the burger was that the sauce was poured on my burger which made it really messy to eat and because I'm a slow eater my buns and onion rings got a bit too soggy by the end. :/ Also ordered a cocktail which was delicious :) pomogranate rose sling(?) I think it was called. Try it!

Went there for a wedding and this was a really really good venue. Staff were generally excellent (one barman was a bit of a jobsworth but the others were great). The happy hour wheel spinner was very generous and the bar staff even seemed to find it fun! Cocktails were expensive but much better value than other similar places, and although I hate paying bar prices I think these were great value in comparison to other places as I've mentioned. I'd pay these prices for the cocktails again on special occasions. But that's just me...

We had dinner here with friends last night. Free parking (after 6pm) immediately outside the restaurant and ground floor is the bar where you can have a beer and bar food. Happy hour 6-7pm!! Been here on four occasions now. First visit was a wedding fair, two meals from daily menu then a Sunday lunch. Such a lovely place and a great atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff and nothing is too much trouble. Good vegetarian choices on the menu and have tried a few of them so far. Food delicious. Deserts and mocktails are great, especially the taster selection. Cant wait to try the cocktails and live music nights. Will be back and definitely would recommend to others.

Went here for an evening meal a Monday night for my mum's birthday and had a lovely meal. The staff were very helpful and made her special day even better. Drinks were priced as what you'd expect for Jesmond. The place has a relaxed atmosphere and we enjoyed so much that we're booked up for my sister's big birthday. The bar downstairs was quite small, and had about 200 people so it was super busy. Felt about sorry for those 3 bar staff, frantically producing mojitos & other crazy drinks. Good times.

I was there with my sister, her boyfriend, and my parents. We were celebrating my mam's birthday. My main course (shepherds pie)was very nice, but not enough it did not fill me up. The dessert was a sticky toffee pudding the cake was very nice. Just the butterscotch sauce was cold sticky toffee pudding should be hot. Plus I was drinking beer, and my dad was drinking Guinness we had to wait ages for our drinks whenever we ordered them. I'm no barman but pouring a pint of beer is not the Krypton factor. (There is no need for a scientific experiment every time someone orders a pint). And finally it is early on in January (the middle of winter) and yet we were still having to swot flies away when we were sitting at our table. DISGUSTING REALLY.

Possibly one of my new favourite restaurants in newcastle. Food was great and full of flavour and cooked perfectly. Twice cooked chips were amazing. Classic tower burger was too. A very large portion though but I guess that's how you make those prices value for money. Cola tastes nasty though.

Very nice decor etc however food is average and overpriced. Most of my party enjoyed their food and my main meal was ok. However I ordered the starter and had to spit it out as they were rancid. Manager dealt with my complaint well and knocked them off the bill immediately. Also in my opinion charging £6 a pint for a lager is treating your customers with utter contempt, is 600% profit not taking the mic a bit for something you can buy in the supermarket for £1? Won't be going back very much style over substance.

Our son was married here. The wedding was perfect. The staff are friendly and helpful, the food excellent and the ambience fun for all ages. It is a great place for families with little ones catered for and cared about. It is also great for groups, the tables are of different sizes and can accommodate large numbers. Got a bit annoyed at the waiter asking if everything was okay every 5 minutes. I'd rather just be left in peace to eat my meal, if I needed something or food wasn't okay then I'd call a waiter over.

I attended my friends wedding at this venue Saturday 24th November. the quirky Frangipan held the wedding the reception and evening events. Located downstairs the wedding was beautiful with about 60 guests seated the room was decked out perfectly. After the ceremony we sat upstairs whilst the staff arranged the reception. Wow what a reception it was the food was simply amazing now tomato and basil followed by a chicken roast sponge and ice cream might not sound the most exciting menu and you would be right. However the quality and freshness of the ingredients was passed only by the chefs loving care to perfection to detail. Each course surpassed expectation soup hot full of flavour and fresh. Chicken succulent vegetables cooked to perfection with the biggest Yorkshire pudding you will ever see or the flavour not to be beat. My table of 12 cleared every plate. The dessert was sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce and ice cream.....relishing every spoonful it topped off a 10 out 10 meal. The whole day night was magical and staff attentive and professional. My first experience of this venue can't wait to visit again.

Gluten free menu available; hot roast sandwich okay - fantastic gravy and nice I got to have gluten free bread, roast meat a little dry as thin and lacked flavour; not as good as Dad's roast sorry but fiancée's chicken wrap was very tasty apparently. Skinny chips good as was salad so all round good as was the price. Definitely looking forward to wedding party we're attending next year!

Christmas work do, so booked through the Christmas Team. The menu was impressive to begin with and the food didn't disappoint. We all ordered different and opinion was the same from all nine of us. 'Blooming lovely!' The service was exceptional! Our named waiters, Adam & Aaron, were friendly, funny, kept us topped with wine constantly, knew our names and who had ordered what. There were a few unusual requests due to allergies and they got that spot on too.... I use a powered wheelchair and from the minute we arrived, they were there to show me where the lift was and had obviously put some thought into the location of our table so that I didn't have to squeeze through tiny gaps or have anyone triping over my back wheels but at the same time, could soak up the festive atmosphere! The band was great, dancing was dodgy and everyone had a fantastic night! We all agreed that we couldn't recommend it highly enough. A huge thank you to everyone who made it so wonderful.....

We often go here for a special occasion meal as the food and venue are really good (except the roast potatoes, which are always disappointing). However, I feel that every time we've been recently we have had to complain about something. Usually regarding the waiting staff; slow service, wrong food brought, incorrect information given etc. It's a shame because it always used to be 5/5 every visit.

Was lucky to be a part of a wedding at As you like it. The bride and groom booked this venue as their wedding abroad fell through. I bet they are glad it did because every little detail was perfect and the staff here catered to everyone’s needs brilliantly. The venue itself has just undergone a physical uplift so the old concrete look on the exterior is no more and the inside is just stunning. There is also a lovely garden terrace to the rear. The food was impeccable, drinks were slightly on the pricey side but you didn’t mind as the quality was good and selection plentiful. The day was beautiful and went off without any issues. Faultless. Had dinner on a Wednesday night. Waiting staff were inconsistent and unorganised (although some were friendly), food took a very long time to come out (1.5 hours from the moment we sat down to the moment our mains came out). The food itself was decent, about what you would expect for the price. They redeemed the experience by offering us some complimentary prosecco when they found out we were celebrating an anniversary.

Amazing food with beautiful interior views! Tucked away at the bottom of an old block of offices, As You Like It sits dimly lit waiting for your arrival. You walk inside, and for a second you will question the possibility that you have passed through a portal, as you struggle to believe that you have never heard of such an incredible location. You sit down, and a lovely waiter/waitress asks you what starter out of the many to choose from you would like. As soon as you've told them, you walk to the bar to order an extravagant cocktail. While the cocktail is prepared, you look over your shoulder and realise your starter is waiting for you - never before have you been served so fast! Your main arrives shortly after, and you take your first bite... You're in love. You've forgot entirely about the date sitting across from you, but it doesn't matter because they feel the same way. The flavours of this masterfully crafted food dance on your tongue, and you feel like you are eating in slo-mo as you try to savour the flavour. You finish the meal (including the necessary dessert) and embrace the experience that has just occurred. The bill arrives, and although more expensive than the usual restaurant you are contempt that the price was more than worth it. You then go home, have blissful dreams, write this review, and rejoice that you are lucky enough to have visited such a masterpiece.

A stunning bar and restaurant in the heart of Jesmond and short walk from the town ! this bar lends itself to a whole host of events, from launch parties, birthday's up to Wedding's . The food is superb, the mixture of cocktails are second to none, and the staff are always polite and friendly - highly recommend this place for all of the above reasons and also the prices are decent too!
