Gorgeous Italian cafe, our daughter is in the Freeman hospital and a nurse recommended it to us. Lovely little place, very busy, the food all looked amazing and tasted delicious. Will definitley return.

Popped in for first time to buy a sandwich for work. Impressive inside and will return with wife when restrictions lifted. Sandwiches are made to your own choice of fillings. I had bacon, chicken, brie and salad with mayo in seeded bun and have to say it was fantastic.

It's quite well on my doorstep but I never really go! I can tell you however that it is massively popular. Great for a quick brew but equally great for their butties, pastas and cake collections. Sit-in or takeaway options are standard. It does get busy like, so pick your time and give it a go. I did so today end enjoyed a thirty minute sit in the sun with a coffee, my first there for some four years.

Excellent service and a great selection of Italian Fayre. Lots of choice for sandwiches and salads to either to eat in or take away available all day. They stop serving breakfast at 11.30. Also due to the current situation they are mot cooking any eggs.

I was expecting it to be better than it was. I was disappointed to find that they serve coffee and tea in disposable cups, even an espresso, I imagine! Not very good for a Café Italia. And the choice of bread for a bacon sandwich was either ciabatta or a stottie..a stottie is about the worst sort of doughy bread that you can have. On the other hand, the food was okay, and the staff were nice and friendly.

Wow.... I've literally just popped at 9am to grab a quick sandwich as I passed. What a beautiful quirky cafe it is, it's immaculately clean and the young lady who served me was very friendly and pleasant. I grabbed a bacon, sausage and egg sandwich and I have to say its was absolutely delicious. Can't recommend it enough... I'll definitely be back. 10 out of 10

Nice place, always customers in when I call in. Coffee and caramel shortbread was nice, hit the spot as I was craving something sweet. Due to Covid, they seem to have a good plan, one way system, hand sanitiser available for customers. My only concern was the 5L bottle was too high up on top of the counter that maybe less mobile customers could reach.

My first coffee shop visit for months, as always a happy experience. Sat outside and enjoyed a cappuccino. One teeny tiny point, it was a bit hot for a cappuccino but otherwise fab!!

It's like a Costa or a Starbucks without the overly pretentious coffees and even more ostentatious clientele. There are blissfully asleep toddlers (thankfully) with their yummy mummies as well as retired folk, and everyone in between; which says a lot of the type of place this is. Food on offer is not extensive but filling enough if you know what to order. I had the Rustic Chicken sandwich in a toasted ciabatta roll with a Mocha. It was filling enough for me even with my enormous appetite and only came to just over £7. I sat and read a book in the corner for almost 2 hours. Time passed quickly as I was not harassed by the staff or indeed by anyone talking loudly into their mobile phone or across the table as though they were sat a mile apart! My only quibble is the chocolate lying unperturbed at the bottom of my mocha. Parking is available on either side of the street outside but please respect the time limits, which are different depending on which side of the street, or get a parking ticket. And please don't be like the idiot who blocked someone's drive (Who said taxi drivers?).

This place is popular so can get very busy at times. Some local short term free parking in and around the local streets. Licensed to serve alcohol too.

Not great, don't get the hype. The food is really hit and miss. I've had dry bread, tough chicken and burnt sausage. I've also had some lovely sandwiches. All deserts seem to be bought in as I've been refused one from the cabinet as it hadn't defrosted yet. Everything looks great, but often doesn't taste as good as it looks.

Great Italian coffee shop near Freeman Park in Heaton. Bacon sandwich for less than 3 quid and a good hot mocha. Lots of seats, both inside and out. Tempting treats on the menu and great looking pizza too. Will definitely be back!

I took my family here a couple of weeks ago and orders some savoury snacks, cakes and a tea. The Savoury stuff OK., But the cakes were pretty poor. I had a cheesecake and the base was so dense and thick that it was impossible to eat with a spoon and fork, however when I did pick it to eat it, it was like eating a lump of lard. Cheap tasteless cake. However still had a cup of tea so not all was lost until I chocked on the tea bag left in my cup, not nice. I've got to say that we've been a few times and never really been that impressed but we thought we would give it another go, but won't be going back again.

Credit where credit's due.... not all heroines wear capes! We have been for the last two weeks and look like continuing for the next few too, relying on Dean & Daniela's for somewhere to pass days whilst a family member has Day treatment at The Freeman. Due to Covid, his mother who drives him from Teesside, cannot go onto the ward and as he's shielded due to lack of immunity nor can she get into my car; but we can sit outside here and with the wonderful salads can have a beautiful lunch without incurring unnecessary calories! So we are hugely thankful to have Dean & Daniela's in walking distance of the hospital. The staff are coping fantastically with the extra hygiene necessities that Covid causes and maintain their usual efficiency and smiles despite the pressures we the public inevitably bring with us. So a big 'THANK YOU' to all working there. You may not have realised it but you are providing a key service to many of us attending with patients at the Freeman.
