First, try this chip shop since having a new owner and what can I say the fish and chips are absolutely amazingly tasty, fresh fish nice and hot piping chips you get what you pay for proper decent food and the staff are lovely as well

The Fish Bar is super clean and the fish and chips are wonderful it's very hygienic it's the best chip shop I know of and I will go out of my way to get fish and chips that's how good they are

Visited today as my usual chippy was closed. I enjoyed beautifully cooked fish and chips, which came in a box, my preference too. Next time I will order online as it sounds as though they prefer it. The staff were welcoming, the shop was clean, win win.

It is the best chip shop round here, but they’re are a few things to watch out for.. when you order a kebab online using their website it comes as a dissected one, pitta, meat, salad and sauce all separate with salad and sauce coming in a plastic container! - ideal for some but personally I would prefer it to come as a whole kebab. Secondly, we’ve had this a few times now, where we’ve ordered cod and chips at 6:30 on a Saturday and I’m really sorry to say that the fish had clearly been reheated/refried.. the batter was massive and inside a shriveled up cod, dry and chewy.. just beware of this if your ordering at that time of the day. Other than that a super clean and friendly place to get your fish and chips from!

The best fish and chips in the midlands so far nobody can beat the taste and quality . The shop is clean and tidy and the staff are absolute magic they are a credit to the shop and can't do enough to assist. try it and you won't go anywhere else.

I had fish which was a good size and beautifully cooked. However, the batter was soggy, stodgy and oozed fat when cut. I didn't have chips so can't comment. The mushy peas were satisfactory. I particularly loved the wrapping and packaging, apart from the polystyrene container for the peas, it was all paper. Thumbs up for thinking of the environment. Maybe paper containers for the peas too?

This is the best chippy for miles around! The fish is absolutely beautiful every time - super fresh and cooked to perfection. Hygiene is spot on. The staff work really hard to give you exactly what you want and they're always up for a right laugh too! Top batter and top banter! 10/10 :)

I was recommended by a family friend who travels from Southwell area to BJ Fish Bar as its definitely better then the one in Southwell. I took his recommendations and can confirm that he was correct. I will also be recommend to anyone in the Southwell area to take the 15 minutes drive as they are without doubt good quality fish and chips.

I had the lunchtime special, £3.80 Excellent value and plenty of food, very polite staff. Very popular at lunchtime had a small wait. Also a kebab section. No room to eat meals in. Plenty of car parking space around. Opposite a few shops and pub.
