WHAT A GEM!!! Excellent service with exceptional, high quality food! A beauty in the middle of the city. The mind drifts away with the eclectic decor, fresh cooking smells and well chosen subtle old classic movie soundtracks. A must see! Gluten free, halal, vegetarian and kosher all catered for and without compromising on taste. Respectable prices and well worth the occasional treat.

Absolutely amazing experience! And I use the word experience because it really was an experience, not just something to eat. There was so many personal touches, from the happy birthday sign on my mum's afternoon tea, to the birthday scroll, and so many more but I don't want to ruin it for anyone going. We have been to The Shard for afternoon tea and Josephine's is absolutely on parr, and in some ways even surpasses it. The food is delicious! Everything is homemade and tastes devine! Decor and tableware is gorgeous. Their raspberry fizz drinks are yum! Even the glasses they serve their drinks in are beautiful. Service is 10 out of 10. Smart, polite, attentive. So much love, thought and time is put in. The only change I would make is they just need a bigger venue so they can have bigger tables. Have even more people coming, it's hands down the best place I've been to in Nottingham. And they have so many goodies brought to the table that you want more space! I'm not surprised Josephine's is in the top 10 per cent in the country. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience, we can't wait to come again!

First time going yesterday and it was really nice, all the staff was so helpful and friendly, the amount of food you got for afternoon tea was amazing, I ended up bringing home what I didn't finish in 2 boxes.. There is so many different flavored teas you can. With your afternoon tea you don't have too stick with the same one.
The free gift at the end was a lovely touch.
Will definitely be coming back here again and I definitely recommend anyone too try this place out.

A fairly new establishment in Nottingham, opposite Theatre Royal. The venue is smallish, the interior is elegant and intimate.
The music was great, not too loud, we could have a conversation without having to talk louder.
They mostly do afternoon teas, brunches and lunches and cater for the pre-theatre crowd too.
They close relatively early compared to other establishments but I would not hold that against them. Saturday's last orders are 7pm and closing at 8pm.
I recommend booking a table since they can get pretty busy.
The evening menu is a one-pager, classic set up of starter, mains and desserts.
We had the Soup of the day - choice between carrott and coriander or chicken - and the mushrooms in teriyaki and garlic for starters followed by Mediterranean Cod and Tortellini with Wild Boar Ragu, check out the posted photos.
We will definitely return since I have my eyes on the Peppered Stake and Ale Pie which was not available when we visited - but I was happy with my Tortellini, I can tell you!

Excellent service, amazing food. Such a fantastic experience, will definitely visit again.
We had brunch on valentine's day, set us up perfect for the afternoon

Ordered two afternoon teas for Valentine's days and they were fantastic.
Great choice of sandwiches and the bread was super soft with plenty of filling.
Amazing selection of cakes and and sweet treats and great alternatives for the fussy Eater!
Would high recommend it to anyone looking for a great value afternoon treat!
Visited again a year later and they do an amazing new York breakfast bagel. Service as excellent

As usual Josephine's was a top notch dinning experience! The staff is welcoming and fantastic at the art of service. The food was wonderful and the tea was tasty and warm. Dessert was absolutley delicious, we had the strawberry songe cake and it was so good!
Every time I've been here it has been an amazing experience.
It thought I wrote a review for Joesphine's before but I was wrong....These photos are from previous dtimes being there, but forgot to take photos this time.
Bottom line is you should go here, you will not be disappointed in any way!
Update... Another trip to Josephine's and it was fantastic. Excellent food and service! It's a place I look forward to dining at when I'm in Nottingham.

Had cake and coffee the cake was so soft and it came with some other fruits on the side. Ask you if you have dietary requirements. Would recommend. Staff are friendly explain the menu. Was relaxing, clean and tidy.

Enjoyed an afternoon tea here to celebrate my wife's birthday. The service was absolutely impeccable, really makes you feel posh.
The afternoon tea came with some basic sandwiches, scones and a lot of desserts. We were welcomed with raspberry flavored drinks. Overall everything was wonderful.
A bit heavy on the pocket so I'd save it for a special occasion.

A must for afternoon tea lovers! I recently went with some work collegues. We booked online and had to put down a £10 deposit per head.
On arrival, the tearoom with very warm and compact but the food and service definately made up for it! We had an amuse bouche starter of quail's egg and piccalilli voulevot followed by a cake stand each filled with delicious sandwiches, cream tea scones, cakes and desserts.
There is also a big menu with different kinds of tea - I went for English breakfast which was brewed with loose tea leaves rather than teabags. You get a lot of food and drink for your money and I was full very quickly but got to take extras home in a box. We were also given a little homemade tea bag with our choice of tea leaves, a little chocolate and some vouchers - a really lovely little touch!
I often go out for afternoon tea and this place definately has one of the best offerings I have come across in a very long time! I will definately come here again!

Visited today with my wife and we both really enjoyed the food, the staff were very freindly and the atmosphere was amazing.

Nice variety of food. The scones were absolutely delicious!
The vegetarian sausage wasn't the best, and the tea wasn't strong. Otherwise I'd give it a 7/10! The ambiance is pretty vintage style and fun.
J. L.
Best afternoon tea I've ever had! The presentation was amazing. Gluten free and vegetarian options were also available. Large range of unlimited teas included. Staff were friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back.

Wow. What a wonderful place .staff are amazing and wow what a afternoon tea.
It was our wedding anniversary today and all the staff wished us a happy anniversary. Will be coming again great service thank you
G. O.
We went for breakfast.
Initial impressions were amazing service by the two waiters on front of house and that fitted with the feel of the restaurant, 1920s meets Grand Voyage world travel.
Unfortunately the breakfast didn't match up to the high standard of the service and decor. It was distinctly average with little choice and coffee machine coffee. It's no comparison to other venues in the city centre
I'd hope that the main menu would be better but the fact that they serve it all day long would lead me to question how pre prepared it is.
I think they'd do better to drop the breakfast and concentrate the menu on a high quality dinner in keeping with the feel of the place.

Truly amazing experience🙌🏼🙌🏼 Visiting Nottingham at the moment and decided last minute to do Afternoon Tea, I am gluten free and the staff were so accommodating. The food, presentation and atmosphere is simply wonderful. The staff were so warm and welcoming, Josephine’s is a must visit gem 💎🙏🏼

First time at Josephine's for Mother's Day and couldn't fault the food or the staff. The staff were extremely friendly. Couldn't do enough to help and were totally attentive. We had the afternoon tea which was delicious. If you can't finish it all, you can then take it home in a little carry box. Highly recommended and cannot wait to go again.

This beautiful restaurant in the middle of Nottingham is so unlike many places these days. Genuine, thorough and exceptional customer service without being overbearing. I'm yet to have a full English breakfast that rivals theirs, and my partner would say the same about their Eggs Royale. Fabulous staff, amazing food and the biggest selection of teas you've ever seen! 5*!

Fabulous food & service. Would highly recommend for pre theatre dinner. Can't wait to go again

Superb food & delicious teas. Lovely surroundings with attentative service.
Highly recommended.

Really really good. Brilliant service. Attentative especially to allergies. Vegetarian afternoon tea was lovely. 6 sandwiches each..which is more than some places. Cakes, scones all lovely. Cant fault here. Definitely will go again.

What a great place to enjoy a High Tea or breakfast, coffee or dinner. Amazingly beautiful decorated and very tastefully!
D. M.
Not a fan of poached eggs without a runny yolk. Bit overdone today.
Prefer eggs fried but they can't do this with a full English for some reason. Quite like a bit more sausage with my full English- normally get 2 but maybe cost of living crisis is biting and they're having to reduce quantities (not that I need the calories).
It's very good, could have been amazing and probably was before the staffing crisis. I would want to give one more try to be completely fair.
H. A.
Just popped in on the off chance before going to the theatre and was absolutely blown away! Lovely accommodating staff, clean inside with a nice atmosphere, and the food was absolutely to die for! 100% recommend and will definitely be back! Thank you
R. E.
Wow what an amazing tea we had. The staff were so kind ,patient and understanding of our requirements. As for the afternoon tea it was absolutely delicious. I can't wait to return. Thank you for a super time.
M. C. D.
Cosy, clean and comfortable with lovely staff, delicious food, good music that isn't intrusive and set in a tranquil atmosphere.
Would highly recommend for brunch or high-tea. I would also like to note that the restroom was immaculate.

Visited Josephine’s on Saturday 7th May 2022 for lunch
Staff are very polite, professional & friendly, the food was very enjoyable, if a little on the expensive side for what we had, (2 x quiche served with salad and new potatoes, 1 x mimosa & 1 x Americano coffee, slightly over £49) but I’d guess the location (opposite the Theatre Royal) has possibly more to do with this than anything.
The menu/choice was ok, could have been slightly more varied & specialised, but the food was very well presented and delicious.
As with most places ‘post Covid’ prices are on the high side, £10 for a glass of Cava is on par with regular London prices.
Overall would definitely recommend & be visiting again without hesitation due to the great staff experience, good food and lovely elegant setting of the old building, oh & well worth remembering, they serve breakfast past midday.
J. S.
Excellent service and a top notch afternoon tea. Well worth a visit if you've never been before.

Amazing Afternoon tea bought as a present for my birthday.
Wonderful food, lovely staff and fab service, great atmosphere too.
Would definitely recommend and shall certainly return.

Excellent, the Owner went above and beyond of our Ukrainian Stepmum. The staff were all lovely and 5he afternoon tea was amazing!!
Great atmosphere and very well run.
K. C.
Sweet and quaint little place in the heart of the city. All the staff were brilliant and very attentive. The food was nice. Cute for an afternoon tea.
J. F.
Not really Nottingham's answer to Betty's of Harrogate but a fine selection of teas nevertheless. My scone was fresh with an excellent crumb but let down by the presentation (clotted cream served in a prepack). My daughter had a chef's selection of mini delights(?), rather too sweet and rather tired. Friendly, if inexperienced, staff in pleasant surroundings.

Could not recommend this place more highly! The booking process was easy and while we could not be accommodated at the time we wanted to go (special occasion day so understandably busy), they phoned promptly to suggest another time and made a plan to fit us in. When you book you are given the option to note a special occasion and you can have a special note printed with your own message which is on the table when you arrive which is a really nice touch and beautifully presented on lovely paper.
We went today for the Mothers Day high tea which was a real spoil. The bistro is beautiful and quaint inside with some cute and quirky touches. The staff are outstanding! We were greeted by friendly faces and immediately felt welcomed. They came around to check all was going well throughout our time there.
They started us off with a lovely homemade raspberry fizz and a lovely beetroot amuse bouche.
They have an extensive tea menu and you are able to try different teas throughout your meal. I often find with afternoon teas that the pastries are pretty but not always very tasty. This is certainly not the case at Josephine's! The presentation was really lovely and very generous. There were 6 different savoury sandwiches ranging from the traditional cucumber and cream cheese to a fresh spicy herbed chicken. They were all lovely and there will be something to please everyone. The scones were lovely and served with some Roddas clotted cream, a very jam and some fruit. The pastries were lovely too. Such a treat for the eyes and the taste buds! And if you don't have space to eat it all, they happily give you a takeaway box so you can indulge later!
In addition to the cute venue, tasty food and wonderful staff there are nice little touches which really make it feel special. The aforementioned individualised note was really sweet, they gave a little truffle gift to the mums for mothers day in a beautiful little gift box and each diner was given another gift box at the end of the meal with a nice little treat to take home. Its little touches like that, that make the meal out feel like an occasion.
Its woth mentioning the breakfasts also looked nice.
I would highly recommend Josephine's and I will definitely be going back!

Most pleasant, varied menu with some classic dishes, so a nice place to stop for lunch. Staff polite and friendly. Decor nicely styled. Not particularly large in capacity but nice if you are fortunate, though I have spotted you can book online and they do proffer loyalty benefits. Cake and tea selection very good, plenty to revisit in the future.
김.
The first class service!quality of tea and food!!all ticked and satisfied.
If you've booked for a proper afternoon tea set, then It will be better empty your stomach enough cause they've got huge amount of food!so good. Amazing tea.hmm the best👍
L. G.
Ordered afternoon tea for four people for my mother's birthday. I was somewhat apprehensive on ordering as to whether a delivered afternoon tea would look as an afternoon tea should, but they looked fantastic, tasted really nice and a family members gluten intolerance was fully catered for meaning that no one felt left out from the experience.
Delivery was prompt and at the beginning of the alloted time delivery window as detailed online. A good time was had by all and my mother was very pleased with the unexpected treat.
The website could be made a bit more user friendly, and I think that letting people know when in the delivery window delivery is expected would also be beneficial.
I would definitely recommend spoiling someone with an afternoon tea from here. I would also definitely order from here again for high quality and friendly service.

This is a lovely little place, so relaxing even though it's bang in the middle of the busy city centre. It's beautifully decorated and has a gentle relaxing atmosphere inside. Situated directly opposite the Theatre Royal that looks amazing in the late afternoon dusk.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was scrumptious and we're definitely going again.....loved it
H. T.
Amazing afternoon tea, buckets of English breakfast tea and a more than generous portion of sandwiches and cakes. Staff excellent and lovely atmosphere.

Delightful experience. The food was excellent, service great. A touch of old fashioned style in a world of McDonald's and Pizza Hut
M. A.
Very expensive Breakfast including a £5 for a pot of tea…. Never again Josephine’s…..
B. C.
Fabulous afternoon tea. Had to have a take away box because it was too much to finish. Very good quality and lovely service.

Always great service and great food at Josephine’s. Wonderful atmosphere, perfect for a breakfast or brunch date.

Went today on recommendation from a family member. YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!! My wife, daughter and I went for afternoon tea and it were absolutely stunning and very tasty as per the pictures. The service were first class. And I have no hesitation to say our experience we better than the The Savoy in London in all aspects. Can't wait to rebook and bring the In laws! 😁

Visited this lovely place yesterday for the first time with my daughter. What a fabulous experience. Lovely food and decor, great location and just the very best staff. So professional, friendly and warm.
We’ll be back for afternoon tea next time.
D. M.
This place is an experience, rather than a simple Bistro. Both times I've been the staff have been extremely attentive. There is no limit to tea refills for afternoon teas. Everything is thought of, including a doggie bag with an extra bag of tea to enjoy your leftovers when you return home. Fabulous place and lovely staff.
C. B.
This was my first time at Josephine's. The food was excellent & so was the service. I would really recommend this place & shall be returning. Thank you for a lovely lunch.
C. P.
Had lunch with a friend. I only looked at the gluten free menu but there was a choice of toasties panini's and sandwiches as well as several gf cakes. My toastie came with a tasty selection of salad and the cake was beautiful.

Great place and lovely afternoon tea. I had a lovely note from them.

What a wonderful afternoon taking my Mum for afternoon tea. I'm gluten free and I have to say both platters were amazing with bits to take home too. Lovely team ensuring we were looked after. Definitely recommend and I will be going back
B. R.
Went for pre concert meal. Only two in the place. Wonderful food and helpful staff member (perhaps because we were the only ones in) were waiting to close as we had been told 7.00 but the waiter said they normally close 6 to 6.30 on Sundays. We left just after 6.30
D. J.

AFTERNOON TEA- DELIVERY
Ordered an afternoon tea for my partners birthday. It came beautifully wrapped and well presented. Great selection of sandwiches and sweet treats. I am allergic to eggs and my allergy were considered perfectly.
The portions are massive and there’s enough food for you to save and enjoy later if you can’t finish it in one sitting.
Jo is very professional and will go that extra mile to ensure you get a wonderful afternoon tea experience from the comfort of your home.
M.
Love it here, great atmosphere. Brilliant, fun and super friendly staff, great prices. Definitely recommend this little gem

We recently had a few days in Nottingham and stopped at Josephines for an impromptu lunch. Looked lovely from the outside and we weren't disappointed! Professional and attentive staff, prompt service and nice daytime atmosphere. The eggs benedict were very good!
I wasn't going to write a review, but getting a response from the owner prompted me to make the effort, and to add a star. So nice to see a business appreciate it's customers. Next time we're in Nottingham we'll definitely return!

Well, as one of the owners I'm bound to give Josephine's 5 stars! Thanks for asking me Google.

A wonderful selection of teas, Black, Green and more along with absolutely gorgeous food! The Beef soup of the day I had was amazing! Great texture, tasty and came with perfect ciabatta.
The staff are lovely and attentive and the decor is charming.
Be aware that at busy times there is a bit of time allocation for tables, it's small and popular, but this is by no means oppressive, just something to keep in mind if you plan on whiling a few hours away with tea.
I wholeheartedly recommend this place!
T. R.
Had an afternoon tea for two delierved, beautiful presentation in the box, lovely scroll with a message. Had 6 varieties of sandwiches, all well filled, turkey cranberry and stuffing were my favourites. The scones were light, fluffy and huge, the selection of cakes were delicious esp the mini cheesecake and lemon. Came with a small bottle raspberry lemonade and loose leaf tea. Owners are very professional, friendly and listened to my allergy needs. Wonderful for a treat at home.

Had 2 afternoon teas from Josephine’s for my wife's 50th Birthday. The teas were absolutely amazing my wife loved every single part of it, thank you so much for making her day. From the first point of ordering on line to collection it was very simple and easy to do, looking forward to visiting when we can.

I made a booking for my fiancées birthday (15th Sept 2020) After walking past a week prior "OO that looks nice, we should give it a go!"
Arrived to be greated by a very pleasent welcoming team, service was great and very attentive. inside had a great feel to it, fresh and clean and the added boards due to current climate in the world added a little intimacy.
Food was absolutly beautiful, great mix of fresh sandwhiches, cakes, scones etc. well presented in a great atmosphere.
I will, and have recommended it to others. I shall definatley be revisiting.
Thanks you.

Had a lovely vegetarian breakfast followed by red velvet cake! I also noted they offer a halal and vegan breakfast. The menu looked really good for visiting any time of day along with a nice coffee and tea selection as well as gorgeous cakes. The tea room was really nice inside and very popular....we didn't book but felt lucky to have got a table. The staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.

Had high hopes for this place as an independent showcasing the positive English institution of afternoon tea but we were somewhat disappointed with the overall experience.
There are positives such as the help we got entering with a wheelchair and there are some nice extra treats to sweeten the deal but sadly there are also negatives that need to be rectified if Josephine's is to justify the prices charged.
First of all we were both served with dirty cups and had to ask for replacements. When the food came we had to ask for napkins, which should have been provided as a matter of course. There was also a lack of cutlery, so that we actually had to use our teaspoons to to eat some of the cakes. It is worth saying that the food was generally quite well done, though the scones could have been fresher on a busy day.
Apart from our table which was not bad for 2 but would have been a squeeze for 4 one of the worst aspects of the experience was that a member of staff was using the adjacent table as an office frequently squeezing past my wife's wheelchair without a by your leave. As a customer I do not wish to know staff's private business.
Finally when I took.our bill to the cash desk I noticed that it was slightly more than expected as tax had not previously been included . This is normal in USA but is not something British guests would be expecting
I believe that everything I have mentioned can be improved and I hope the management will take note, so that Josephine's is as successful as it should be
E. L.
Had an afternoon tea delivered and it was incredible. You can tell so much thought has gone into the bakes, chocolates and sandwiches. Laid out gorgeously and truly was such a treat. Thank you to the team @ Josephine's.
C. S.
Afternoon tea was excellent well worth a visit. Staff very pleasant polite and knowledgeable with just the right amount of attention

Lovely tea rooms in the centre of Nottingham. Beautiful cakes and a good selection of teas. Waitress was very friendly and helpful. The place had been adapted to meet the coronavirus situation and we felt very safe in there.
J. S.
Treated my mum and sister to an afternoon. It was very nice. Great customer service. We even got mini gift bags at the end.
W. A.
Love it, recommended for everyone who loves to have english breakfast as well as tea time!
D. J.
Absolutely in love with this place. Food is really well seasoned and there's a big choice of high quality loose tea to choose from.
We were also very impressed by the staff. The two young ladies were extremely gentle and attentive, despite the place being very busy during a Monday lunch. Will definitely return.
S. R.
Fabulous... Everything has sparkle (even the grapes were gold!) Treated amazingly, sensible distancing which gives you your own booth. One of us is gluten free, couldn't tell... Both afternoon teas looked and tagged amazing. 6/5!
Book in advance!
T. C.
Fantastic atmosphere, music and menu all in a beautifully decorated art deco setting. The menu caters for every taste and preference. From Vegan to Halal! Who knew???
E. H.
First time at this place, it was very nice but rather noisy background music. The scones were lovely, fresh and plenty of choice. The tea was rather weak but we were told to let it brew for longer. We will definitely return and would recommend to others. I think they will need more space soon as it's a little on the small side and I'm sure will become more popular.
A. C.
Visited this fantastic place with a large group of friends (without booking) - despite the fact there were 9 of us we were made extremely welcome. The service was excellent, great choice on the menu and the food was delicious. Everything is made to order which does take slightly longer but definitely worth the wait - we had 9 empty plates by the end! We had some cup cakes to take away which again were delicious. If you want a café/tea rooms which is different from all the chains, in a great location, great atmosphere, great food - this is the place for you. Will definitely be going back. Many thanks
C. N.
Went with my mum for a late lunch and now im wondering why i hadnt been in before. Its like being in the 1920's with juicy cocktails and delectable food. The waitresses are always on hand but you also feel privacy during the meal. They do tapas, afternoon tea, main meals and of course desserts and cakes! What more could you ask for. I will be going back for sure. My new favourite place.
D. R.
A pleasant experience overall. Nicely decorated with a retro feel and staff were all very courteous and service was efficient. Tea was nice. If I did have a suggestion it would be to just combine the mini cream tea and luxury cream tea into a single cream tea option but with one larger scone. The prospect of two scones put me off ordering the luxury cream tea but I didn't realise the scones were going to be quite small.
S. t. s.
Their halal options are delicious!
The staffs are very friendly

Was there couple of weeks ago with my daughter. We had a lovely meal. She had the steak and ale pie and I had the chicken pie. They were served in their own ceramic dishes with beautiful big puffed up pastry tops
Delicious.
I went back again yesterday with my 2 daughters and granddaughters. Again we ordered the pies. So disappointed. These pies were no where near the calibre of them of the first visit
These had clearly been microwaved as the pastry was soggy and tasteless. No individual dishes and no lovely puff pastry, what a disappointment. Only saving grace was that the staff were helpful and polite and the desserts were good. Shame about the pies
C. R. C.
Food excellent and good choice too. Friendly helpful staff
C. M.
My favorite place in Nottingham. Lovely ambiance. Fantastic Teas (coffee is very good too). A few things weren't available on the food menu, but the steak pie I eventually ordered was gorgeous. This place is such a treat to visit.
R. W.
It was my 1st visit today (I didn’t actually know it was there), but I can honestly say it will not be our last.
We went for Afternoon Tea which was fantastic & plenty.
The ambiance is just something else, you really feel like you’ve stepped back in time.
The staff are so extremely friendly and professional and their customer service skills are something to be admired.
We didn’t feel rushed at all and in fact with all the provisions that they have in place for COVID-19, you felt safe as safe can be.
I can highly recommend this place for a break away from the weird would we find ourself me in.
Thank you for an amazing visit!!!
A. T.
Ordered a delivery of an afternoon tea for my wife's birthday. It arrived when they said it would in a beautiful tower with lots of decoration. Food was excellent and plentiful
F. K.
Great place, well organized, enjoyed our first visit. Massive investment by family. Hard work and attention to detail deserves our loyalty.
Will definitely come back and highly recommend.

Great atmosphere. Great service

An excellent choice in the city centre. Great atmosphere, brilliant service, absolutely amazing and imaginative meals. The cakes are enormous and fantastic, and main courses are prepared with fresh materials and served with exquisite taste. We used to leave town for our afternoon tea, but not any more.

Friendly staff, nice selection of loose leaf tea, the food menu although small is pretty good for a tearoom (soups, casserole, toasted sandwiches etc) but also very good quality.
This is a beautiful tearoom in a style of yesteryear. lovely building and views of the Nottingham theatre Royal.
Although not expensive for what you get probably not the place to go if you just want a mug of builders tea.
A must for lovers of tea and cake in nice surroundings.

Fantastic birthday breakfast this morning. Great food and drinks and brilliant service thank you for the birthday cake. Would recommend. 5*

Absolutely wonderful setting, wonderful staff and great selection of food which is mostly made on the premises and varied selection of teas and alcohol served too. As the food is freshly prepared on the premises it may take longer....well worth waiting for. The afternoon tea looked amazing, can’t wait to go back to try it! X

Lovely feel to this retro place. Eggs Royale was superb. And the first place I’ve seen that serves skinny lager. Attentive, friendly staff. What’s not to like. Will definitely be back but I suspect they will need to extend soon, as it’s already incredibly popular.
A. B.
Nice tea and dessert and lovely atmosphere. Only downer was a "sharing fee"added to our dessert (that appears to be sizable enough for two anyway). Understand that at buffet style restaurants that a sharing fee would be applied, but to add a third onto the cost of a dessert for another spoon is ridiculous!

Lovely 😍 and we were looked after by a fantastic young lady.
One of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time
A. E.
Had a delightful time, the food was excellent and I liked that they had halal food. The staff were lovely too.
C. R.
Absolutely love this place. Great atmosphere, the food and drink lovely and great staff always happy to help. This should be the standard of most other restaurants. Felt very safe during covid too with partitioning, felt like a vip
M. V.
The best bbq chicken wrap I've had a for while and the salad that come with it is so good. Lovely selection of amazing teas. Had a lovely time with my mum, will definitely come back again.
L. R.
The Victoria sponge was huge and the earl grey creme tea was nice but £10 for tea and cake is pretty steep, especially £6 for cake which for equivalent in similar tea shops nearby is around half the price. Even with that said, the cake was really good. So not a negative just an observation.
S. D.
Myself and the family visited the new tea rooms yesterday along with another family. The staff were friendly, the food great and the tea even better but the cup cakes are out of this world. Would highly recommend and will definitely be going when next visiting Nottingham.

Great location. A very civilised place to drink tea and sample some impressive cakes and treats or have a quick meal. Includes a really quirky corner - which we only found on the way out. Handy for pre-theatre but check opening/closing times to avoid disappointment when early closing. Staff friendly.
T. S.
Food very nice, staff very pleasant.
It is very old fashioned (I accept that it is a traditional tea room) very cramped inside, tables too small to fit everything on.
As for the music, we'll... Very morbid classical music, I like classical but there are more uplifting things to play.
C. M.
Been there several times and ordered food to be delivered and have always had a good experience. The staff is helpful and welcoming and the tea and food are wonderful!
C. M.
Lovely food and lots of it,we have a box of cakes coming home with us.
Staff and service are good too. Three of us had afternoon tea .

I went here a couple of times and found the atmosphere lovely and nostalgic. They play mid 20th century music. 30s,40s,50s for example. I had tea and scones while my partner had a cream tea or on the other occasion had a chocolate cake.
The environment is pleasantly dark and relaxing and feels cosy. If you face outwards you watch the world outside go by, or, face in and imagine a 40s style tea shop complete with well dressed staff in black and white attire. The staff are wonderfully polite and you even get to buy teas to take home.
Because I'm 52 and spent 51 years with my grandfather I felt the strong 40s vibe on both occasions. Its something I have appreciated most of my life. This is why this place is magical to me. They also serve proper hot meals like breakfasts etc.
I intend to make this place my second tea home after my usual hangout being Costa.

I have already left a quick reveiw on facebook but thought I would do one here. I was due to meet my friend here at 13:00pm but she was running a little late. I was seated on a nice cosy two seated table. I was offered a cup of tea pretty much straight away. The lady serving me was very kind and helped to reccomened a nice warming tea as I coudlnt choose! When my friend arrived we were given plenty of time to look through the menus and order. We were not made to feel rushed and i thriughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the food and the music!

Absolutely can't fault this place.

Great afternoon tea. Lovely cake selection and very friendly staff. Made my friends 30th very special
S.
Cute little place that's perfect for an afternoon tea. And the scones are phenomenal! Definitely would recommend, and the gift cards make for a great present.
D. W.
A very nice establishment nice polite server. Food was good although expensive for what I had. No real disabled access into the tea room but owner assures me that it will be resolved when we return.
I. A.
Brilliant food, fab service and a generally lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend and will be going again!
T. M.

Excellent... no...
Exceptional afternoon tea. Food any fresher it would still be growing. Staff are highly professional. Smiles allround on our table. Booking essential
P. C.
An absolutely perfect afternoon tea with just the right balance of savoury to sweet a comprehensive tea menu too. Courteous and attentive staff are the icing on the cake if you will.
R. K.
Went for afternoon tea with a friend. Friendly staff and good food
D. R.
Was amazing but had to ask for plates and knives which you need to cut scones etc. But was a lovely experience
T. D.
Pleasant surroundings and attentative staff. The only downside was the prices, one coffee and one tea £7.20p It was nothing special, would have been better value at under £5.50.
{edit}I did only ask for a cup of tea so the reply is irrelevent as I wanted to drink only one cup. I would not expect my wife to sit around while I drank another two cups.
M.
Beautiful place, we had afternoon tea for my birthday, special afternoon, staff lovely.
s. b.
Disappointed with only single pots of teas in modern tea pots and cups, not the real experience of a vintage or Victorian tea rooms..tables under dressed
All our meals pre packed food not home made. And over priced for 4 people.£74.😿
D. H.
Had afternoon tea and it was amazing. So much food and they let us take the leftovers home. Come regularly for lunch and tea and brilliant every time.
L. &. C. M.
We called in Tuesday 14th July 2020 lunch time

Thank you again for a lovely lunch

Lovely staff good food. Ramp provided for wheelchair access, albeit a little steep, which the staff is very keen to help. Well fitted out wheelchair accessible toilet . 😊

S. P.
Had heard excellent reviews on this place so decided to try.
Tables very close to each other so not much privacy. Menu ok, nothing special. On the plus side staff are lovely.
B. I.

I will definately make a return
Thanks to my daughter for making a great choice
I had a lovely time with my husband this afternoon on our anniversary
Very polite, friendly and attentive staffs
Food and ambience are not to be missed when you are in Nottingham

Josephine's Tea Launge is definitely not little kids friendly space. There's no changing room for babies, only one highchair and no space for pushchairs.
P. C.
Fabulous eating establishment. Good for keenly priced lunches, excellent for afternoon tea. Super setting for a relaxed and refined experience
r. w.
Nice eatery pleasant surroundings fairly good selection of meals.i would say that on the negative the prices are on the high side for what's available .
T. E.
A selection of real leaf teas in a charming city centre setting.
