D.Originally wasn't going to have a Chinese meal, but after reading the reviews I decided to give it a try, and in all honesty I'm glad I did, the food came piping hot and you could tell it was cooled fresh, the satay chicken sticks were absolutely gorgeous, they were fresh and juicy, normally when you order Chinese it's cooked twice, then for the second course I had lemon chicken with egg fried rice, I personally have never had lemon chicken but I really enjoyed it, it's chicken breast with batter and a light sugar coating, the sauce was like almost a thinned lemon curd sauce, it complemented it very well. The staff were very friendly and very polite, the restaurant was very well laid out and very well presented, the only thing I didn't like was the tables had a clear plastic sheet on them with a paper napkin on top, it's almost as if they think we're animals and make loads of mess. Other than that I would recommend this place for a nice celebratory meal.
K. C.A very quiet, but perfectly pleasant, lunch from their set lunch menu. Service is good, food is fine but nothing that makes you go Wow! Access for disabled is tricky with a rough ground frontage and steps up to the main seating area. We were not warned of this despite telling them we had a wheelchair at the time of booking.
N. D. W.Very much like entering a time warp and arriving at some point in the 1980s. Decor and general feel and look of the place is very old fashioned, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
A very ‘busy’ menu - pages of it. Hard to wade through and find what you actually want. Some very old fashioned choices like liqueur coffees and banana fritters lurk within.
Service was very good, rapid and businesslike. The food was was also very good. Chopsticks are provided as your main tools for eating. I am told you have to ask for knives and forks. Trying them, my trousers got more food than my mouth.
Very expensive, I thought. £132 for one set meal for two. One bog standard bottle of white wine, two bottles of beer, two glasses of house red, two liqueur coffees and one pudding. I would have guessed around £15 to £20 less.

This is our go to restaurant for a nice evening out. Our latest visit was to celebrate an 80th and 17th Birthdays. Some of our extended family joined us which made 16 of us in total, no complaints at all. We had a lovely time. We look forward to our next visit.

I felt peace and quiet of the surroundings while walking through the front garden accompanied by the tranquility from the sound coming from the small water fall and the birds singing. The outside surroundings and the two stone Chinese lion status makes us feel welcome. Walked into the restaurant were welcome by the owner. The menu was simple and easy to read with the pricing next to the dishes. We ordered our dishes and they were served fast.
We had mussels and wonton soup for appetizers. The mussels were really big and fesh. The wonton soup was tasty too. There was about 4-5 wontons in the soup. We also had the hot and spicy chicken, the teo chew rice and the sze chuan hot fish. The sze chuan hot fish is my favourite but mind those chillies , it can be too much to handle for those who can't take spicy. Definitely will go again.

The sizuan beef cost £13, it was tender and tasty beef but obviously a cheap cut. The "sizuanese" sauce did not resemble anything sizuanese, it was very subtle in flavour (not bad at all, just very subtle. Not typical of sizuanese cooking)
Pork chow mein was £9. And was tasty. Again nothing special.
As Chinese food goes, I give this place a 3 because a 5 would be an authentic meal in actual China or a China town in NYC or SF.
It's nice but painfully over priced for what it is.

P. P.I have visited Mr Man's before many years ago for Sunday lunch but this time was lunchtime. Entering the garden just transported you to another part of the world so beautiful and peaceful. Inside lovely decor. Now to the menu 16.00 for three courses and tea or coffee to finish. The starters great choices and mains pick what meat or fish you want and then choose what way with various veg etc you'd like it cooked and what rice to eat with it!! Three desserts all lovely to finish. Wonderful way to spend a lunchtime with friends. Loved it will go again staff very helpful all through the lunch.

C.First time visited on Saturday. Staff are extremely lovely and very helpful and will do whatever it takes to take care of your party. Food on the pricier side but was worth it. The duck with lemon sauce was delicious. Food cooked very well. Overall good time :)

S. B.Mr Man's in Nottingham, next to Wollaton Park, has been a popular venue for a long time. Our recent visit confirmed it is still one of the best Chinese restaurants in Nottingham.
Our group of four adults and our 3 year old granddaughter were made welcome from the moment we arrived, even despite covid arrangements being in place.
The food as ever was excellent as we had a fixed menu, that contained a great variety of dishes. We had Chinese beer and sake that was a great accompaniment to the overall meal.
The staff are always very friendly and helpful, our granddaughter was particularly made welcome.
We had a lovely time and would recommend to all to try, if you like Chinese food.
Our thanks to the staff for enhancing our son in laws birthday.

C. D.Food was so nice! seats are right by the toilets which half of nottingham going in and out off without wearing masks. So the sorry sod sitting at that table either needs to eat with masks on or moved to another table 2 metres away you like the government rules say. Food took nearly an hour to come out people came in after and were getting there mains before us. One of the staff was very rude but the rest were nice.

Service was very good, although the older staff clearly knew what they were doing compared to the younger ones that were slow and inefficient; they were definitely put into line though.
Location and the atmosphere is excellent, although I'd expect it to be better suited to stuffy corporate meals as opposed to a family night out. I enjoyed the night, but I doubt I'll be returning.
If you absolutely need to go, I would advise taking plenty of money. If you want truly amazing Chinese food, I'd recommend going to one of the smaller joints that are targeted toward the students in the area.

A. B.Food is always excellent here. I have been many many times as a couple and as part of a larger group and for celebrations. Personally I do not feel it is a place for couples, it is far too loud and staff seem to get dishes wrong and be running around randomly. Having said this, I would recommend this place for groups, they have big tables, give groups priority from my experience and as I said, the food is so good, it would always bring me back here, especially the crispy duck. If you're not bothered by not having a conversation and an intimate night out as a couple, then don't let the noise ut you off, but I like to talk with my partner so a personal opinion. I'd give 5 starts for the food, 4 for any group visit but overall a 3 because of the said.
T. M.This place was a real treat in Nottingham. Really atmospheric with large circular tables. It felt very social inside and the staff were warm and welcoming. The menu was broad with options from different parts of China. Prices were very reasonable for this upscale restaurant. There was a nice selection of beer and wine on offer. It is just off the main road and easier to access by car or taxi rather than public transport.

On top of the delicious food (the incredibly tender ribs and the juicy, crispy sliced duck were both highlights) we were extremely happy with the speed of service. Staff allowed us to relax and eat at our own pace, but as soon as we were ready we had the next course with us in seconds rather than minutes. We never felt rushed and we never felt made to wait, which really added to the pleasure of a fantastic meal.

Visited in June 2019, had a fantastic evening with friends and the food was lovely. However 3 in the morning and I could drink a river dry I was so thirsty. Awake on and off most of the night with an unquenchable thirst.
The following morning felt very sluggish.
It's a shame really because it kind of spoilt what had been a lovely evening.
I do not drink alcohol very often and i didn't have any that evening so wasn't anything to with that.
There are many lovely Chinese restaurants that do not use MSG. So I'm afraid we won't be returning.

H. I.I have been to Mr Mans on numerous occasions over the past nearly 15 years. The food, service and atmosphere has always been consistently good and well worth the reasonable cost for all that. I have been to most restaurants in Nottingham including Browns, Harts, and other popular venues, but I always know that the quality and experience will be as good as always when I visit Mr Mans.
T. O.I've been there four times or so and the food is always of a high standard though the price is a little on the high side so Mr Mans if reserved to special occasions.
Walking through the door the decor fabulously reminds me of some upmarket restaurant in Hong Kong 1987 which i love.
