Great steaks cooked to how you like it cooked. Service wasn't great but it was on a busy Bank Holiday when i went so cutting some slack for that. Nice seating area outside and the interior is unfussy and roomy. Worth trying out.

I've been once before (some time ago), and the steaks are just as delicious as they were back then. The meat was cooked just as it was requested and recommended on the menu and seasoned lightly. I do think that the price is somewhat high, though. Sides are ordered in addition to the steak. If you don't pay for sides, you will receive a steak on its own and nothing else. The small side of chips I added to the meal weren't as tasty as expected for the additional cost, but the southern fried mushrooms were fantastic, if not a small portion (appropriately 5 medium sized mushrooms halved and seasoned for £2.95). I'll go back in the future but, for the price, visits will be few and far between. If you're after a wonderful steak, it's definitely a place to visit.

Thursday afternoon, town was quite busy, this restaurant was not too busy so we thought we would try it before we went to the cinema. Got seated pretty quickly on a lovely raised table with comfy backed stools. We were going to order on the app but as there was something missing on the app, the waitress was more than happy to take our order and get us one portion of what was missing which was amazing!! The food arrived…. Well, EVERYTHING was cooked to perfection! Hubby had a steak with king prawns which he ordered medium rare! I wish I’d have taken a picture! It was thick, cooked perfectly and such a beautiful cut of steak! The service was wonderful, food was amazing! I would go back to this place again and again! Made my birthday such a more special day! Well recommended A++++++++

Have visited Son of Steak a number of times, so thought it's about time I leave a review, especially after the excellent service we received tonight! Beautiful food, always fresh and tastes amazing. Also, the bbq sauces they have are gorgeous, especially the Korean one. Great portion sizes, very reasonable prices and the staff are welcoming, friendly and can't do enough to help. Tom was particularly fab tonight and corrected my ordering error, thanks again! Can't recommend this place enough :)

Popped in for a a late lunch today. I had the 5oz sirloin steak with fries and crispy onion loaf. For my appetite the 5oz steak was a bit small but that’s on me. The steak was delicious but I must say, the crispy onion loaf was to die for. I’m only in Nottingham overnight but I’ll definitely drop in here again when I’m back. Very clean. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. I recommend this place.

Steak was cooked well but ever so slightly under, they didn’t have the sauce we wanted but they sent the two other sauces to make up for it. For a takeaway steak it was pretty good: will be returning but mostly likely go directly to Son of Steak for the full experience.

Hands down the best Steaks we’ve had! To say there’s only two in the Country, count yourself lucky if you manage to drop in! Nottingham and Cheltenham being the locations. All together our bill came to around £86, but we did go OTT and ordered a lot of dishes and drinks! Quick and easy self service with the QR Scanners on the tables. Will definitely be returning to the establishment!

Food was nice but they overcooked our steaks, beautiful steaks but kind of ruined by cooking them well done. Will probably go back there for the burgers but we wouldn't order the steaks again - three of us at the table all asked for medium rare for a variety of different streaks and all of us got them well done without a trace of pink left.

I have visited Son of Steak many times and it is always amazing, the steaks are always cooked to perfection. The staff are friendly and knowledgable about each product on the menu. There is a car park a 2 minute walk from the restaurant. I Highly recommend Son of Steak

A very warm welcome from the moment we arrived. Our server, Jamie, remembered me from my previous visit, asked if we wanted the same seats and even recalled the wine order... all from weeks before. What a memory that young lady has! As for the food, wow. Superb steak, sauce, skin on fries and crispy onions served sizzling in good time. I highly recommend this place and cannot imagine time in Nottingham that doesn't include a meal at this upbeat & intimate restaurant. I will defo go back next time I work in Nottingham, soon I hope, and not only for the food but for the service as well, just brilliant.

Popped in after finishing work late, I have a gluten allergy and everything was done at the table perfectly, fresh cutlery etc. It was very busy and was told to expect a 45 mins wait which was fine, food came out within 25 mins and was good quality and tasty. All of the team were great! From Jamie, the floor team and the chefs that were smashing some lovely looking food and the smells were amazing, so thank you for an enjoyable evening and my lettuce and cucumber that I asked for at the end of my meal was delicious ❤️ Keep up the great work guys x

This is the first time I’ve visited the Son of Steak and I had a great experience altogether. The food is amazingly cooked, well to satisfy the standards, customer service is great, politely explained how to order and etc. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family! Amazing!! 🤙

Service was extremely slow, food arrived fairly cold didn't complain about this as we'd waited a long time for the food and didn't want to have to wait even longer. However the food did taste nice. I think they may have been having a bad night, will give them another try based on how the food tasted though.

I can't say I was as pleased as normal. Used to have the flat iron and two sides, now you pick the meat and choose sides separately but all have gone up more than if it was a set meal (in my opinion) I chose the flat iron as per usual but when it came it was tiny and inside was full of fat and two, sometimes three lines of grissle making the whole thing inedible. I asked the waitress to change the steak as I really couldn't salvage half the meat. She said they don't know what its like till it's cut into but I don't see that as an excuse as they still served it? Knowing I had complained I was surprised I got the second piece of steak as that too was very fatty, however I didn't want to moan again and managed to eat most of the second piece so left it at that. My daughter and friends went the following day and also had problems with grissle as well as very rare meat which had to be changed I hope things haven't changed as I have previously loved this restaurant

Great steakhouse in city centre. You order by going to the till and giving them your table number. Starters of wings in pigs in blankets were served hot and with tasty sauces. The flat iron steak was amazing, tender and full of flavour. Just the right amount of seasoning. The fries were good however could of been hotter as they were warm. Would definitely recommend the restaurant if you’re looking for a casual steak house. Will return for their Tomahawk steak special!

Great steak. Slow service. We were waiting over 20 mins for our food but the picanha steak was worth it. Hands down, one of the best steaks I have had in this whole country. The atmosphere is very relaxed....infact too relaxed for that great a steak. This place is very unassuming...many people looked at the menu and walked along...I feel sorry for them. Son of Steak in Nottingham takes steaks into the fast food market in a good way. The restaurant is located at Trinity square and has both in and outdoor seating and you have to order at the bar. The food is good and the service is fast. A good choice for a quick dinner.

Ordered the 8oz single flat iron steak with Maldon salt. Steak was perfectly cooked, melt in your mouth. Texture was great too. Love their fries, onion, and unlimited drinks refill. The atmosphere was cozy, lighting was a little dark though. It was packed with people as it was Fathers' Day yesterday, but the space between tables is good. Good quality steak for about 11.50 pounds.

Went for lunch, greeted by a staff member who i could barely understand under her mask and difficult accent. She asked us to order via a QR code instead of taking our order at the table; my personal preference is for classic table service, so it was frustrating doing it this way. I ordered an 8 0'z steak medium rare, but the steak was more like medium - it wasn't really warm, and the two sides which I ordered with it were in tiny little bowls- wasn't really full by the end of the meal- this was £17.00 and felt ripped off. Staff generally were moody looking and unfriendly. I recommend going to The Soulville Steakhouse in Nottingham- way better steakhouse and more food for your money.

My 10 Oz rump steak was already tender and juicy in a good price. I am sure the rib-eye will be so melted in your mouth. For the price that it is. The flat iron 8’oz steak is probably the best that I’ve had so far in a long time. Most places don’t get their steaks right even when they are specialising in being a steakhouse. My wife and I took our student daughter out for dinner here on a Saturday. Everything was good - we had starters and we each had different cuts of steak.My ribeye was perfectly cooked dealing with the marbling of fat beautifully. Good crisp sweet potato fries were enjoyed by all. The wine list is fine but quite narrow and my only negative is that there is no unflavoured gin on offer. Our waitress Nicola was kept busy but still had time for everybody and seemed to have a sixth sense to know where she was needed. She was a perfect hostess.

Took about an hour to get our order and when it came the steaks had been out waiting and were a bit cold. Food was good, no complaints there. However customers should be aware that this is not a full service restaurant, you order and pay at the counter. They have enough staff to ask twice if we were happy with the meal, but not enough to take the order and pay at the table! I'm fully aware that this is an increasing trend (blame Nando's) but the bill should reflect the reduced level of service - Son Of Steak is overpriced with this in mind. Staff were polite and explained how the ordering system works. Food arrived quickly. I would say my medium-rare NY Strip was slightly under and a bit more chewy than I would have preferred. Seasoning was also a bit lacking. For the price point though, I would say the food was great. It's a solid 4/5 in my opinion.

Went here with a group of 4. I was really keen to try the signature flat iron steak. Unfortunately we were only told while ordering that this (as well as chicken on the bone) was unavailable, and so all 4 of us had to change our orders. Nonetheless, the staff were really helpful and once we ordered new mains the food was genuinely delicious! Very reasonable and good range of food (when it’s all available!)

Tuesday evening so not too busy, but they hadn't got any flat iron steak at all. Service was very slow. Deliveroo driver decided he could sit at our table whilst he waited for his cargo!!!!! When the food arrived, the steak was excellent. I had the New York thingy and I can honestly say it was one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. The onion loaf however was burnt to a crisp and the fries were uninspiring. Great steak, but lots to work on!!!

Tried here on Saturday. Had not heard of this place before and didn't expect much as it was a sort of fast food type system, not table service. We waited 30 minutes for a table (my only gripe here is that there were several empty tables the whole time we waited. Is this to get you to spend on drinks while you wait?) Anyway, we ordered the flat iron and it was served within 5 minutes!! Talk about fast food. The steak was absolutely one of the best I've ever tasted; soft, tender, pink with no bloody juices. Total perfection and I wish I'd ordered a double one!! The pepper sauce was delicious as well. Chips are really fries but they do come with skin on and were surprisingly tasty. Mushrooms were lovely but need draining as they were swimming in water. Dessert was ice cream (refillable) with a choice of gorgeous sauces. Will be returning and have told everyone how gorgeous the steak is.....it is even worth waiting for the table and spending money on drinks (cheeky but worth it).

I've been visiting Son of Steak since it took over the building from the Harvester. I always used to enjoy the Lomito steak but they have been sadly discontinued. Upon asking a server for a similar cut I bought the rump. It arrived and looked perfectly cooked, unfortunately the meat was incredibly gristly throughout. I could only eat about half of it. The garlic bread side dish was also very cold. I've only had a couple of bad steaks after about 20 visits so not too bad a ratio. The staff are always incredibly personable.

My husband, my son and I went to Son of Steak on a Saturday early evening for our second visit after our son had said the first was the best steak he had had in UK since coming back from USA where flat irons are all the rage. We were disappointed that there were no flat irons on at that time but the brisket was the special for the day. My son and I went for that. It was lovely and tender, but not as tasty as a flat iron. When we heard one of the waitresses say that flat irons were back on we weren't very happy, but after speaking to a waitress, she explained to us that they were slow cooked in batches and that she was sorry we had missed out. I mentioned that I had read some of the reviews where people had been disappointed by this and she said that it was something they were looking into, and they were taking people's views on board and it needed to be more clear on the menu and website that this was the case. She was excited to tell us about a new menu out next month as well which members of staff had input into. After feeling better after our chat and about to leave ,the waitress brought me a piece of flat iron to take home and a loyalty card with some stamps already on it. I was very impressed and it was a lovely touch. Although we were disappointed at first, it will not stop us from returning. The restaurant has a nice relaxed feel about it and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. I don't often leave reviews, but thought in this instance it was a must and just wanted to thank Lauren for her time and the lovely piece of flat iron 😉 and to say, please don't be put off if you can't get what you want on your first visit. It shoukd make you want to return to try one and there are lots of other lovely things on the menu. We will be back very soon 😁

Couple of advice for the management.. .I wouldn't place the cutlery in the plate with the steak...the 1st thing I had to do was wipe off juice and grease from fork and knife before to eat.. .The fries were really soughy, I'm not sure if you steam it or precook it in low temperature oil, but there were definitely overcooked in that process.

I ordered another burger this time regular size and was ok, but I expected the waitress to be at least sympathetic on noting that the kids food was not satisfactory. Not sure how hygienic that is as other clients have used it before you. The flat iron steak was good and tender but the iron was only warm. Not expensive.

A Fun Place to Eat This is a place to go at any time of the day for a meal. We went in the evening and had a beautifully tender steak that was to die for. This along with the wonderful salad bar turns into a very fulfilling meal. Added to all this are warm welcoming and friendly staff make this a fun place to eat.

My wife had the 6oz sirloin medium rare and she said it was the best steak she had ever had and I had the bacon cheese burger and by my standards it was absolutely perfect coming from 2 chefs as well we really couldnt of done it better ourselves the restaurant was absolutly outstanding itself the only thing was the drinks there wasn't much choice and was they were quite expensive but still an all around amazing atmosphere and meal as a whole will be returning

This place is an absolute credit to M&B since I am a member of management for the company I thought I would be fair in writing a review, the food is amazing (understatement), the staff are very attentive and knowledgeable and the interior and exterior are both clean, vibrant and fresh, I will return and will recommend and I'm looking forward to more of this brand appearing around the country, the only down side is the kids menu and wine selection could be a bit broader.

The staff were very friendly from the minute we walked in. It was a pleasure to be served by them. The food was great and brought out in good time. The decor was lovely, a really nice place to eat. My only other experience of Harvester was at a different establishment, and wasn't very good at all, but this has more than made up for it.
