Amazing food and service, they managed to sneak us in which we were really grateful for. Great recommendations by the staff. Only downside was it was really loud and we could barely hear the staff when speaking to us. Would go back again, just perhaps not on a busy night!

Excellent meal. One of the best curries I’ve had and certainly will return. Great flavours in all the dishes and excellent service from Ronnie and his team. I chose both courses on recommendations and wasn’t disappointed! Chicken Tikka Hara-masala starter and Lamb Nihari main, with a laccha paratha - which I’d not tried before was very good.

Visited a month back and had a great dining experience, the food was amazing and cannot recommend this place enough. The staff were very polite also and we had such a lovely night.

I guess this is the best Indian restaurant in the city. The food, especially the curries, is of excellent quality and truly delicious. You just can’t get enough of those delicate flavours. The staff are well dressed, attentive and super friendly. I highly recommend this beautiful restaurant for Indian-food lovers.

Overall good experience, the starters, paneer and chill garlic chicken were delicious. Wish the Lamb Nihari had more depth to its taste though, as we did ask for extra chilli but didn't receive it.

I visited here on the 5th Jan for an 'early bird' belated birthday meal with my sister. We absolutely enjoyed the food and the service. The service is brilliant, they are very welcoming and accommodating. They even threw in a complimentary birthday shot for me which was a lovely thought lol. They definitely aim to please, get you feeling happy with your dining experience and keep you smiling. I shall definitely be dining here again and I definitely recommend this place as a good quality restaurant if you want a great dining experience.

Visited for the first time yesterday. Experience a warm and professional greeting. A really pleasant atmosphere and the staff attentive without being overbearing.I thought the food that we had was absolutely first class.The chicken tikka was superbly cooked and flavoured in particular. Naan breads were also lovely and very well presented. Based on the experience of dining at the restaurant yesterday I would have absolutely no hesitation in giving it five stars and strongly recommending it to others. Thank you

The staff were very friendly, really polite and well dressed. The atmosphere was really relaxed and calm, the food was absolutely amazing the lamb thay I had was really really good, there were about 3-4 chunks of prime cuts, I really enjoyed the curry that I had. The others had some great food too. I would definitely recommend this place for a quality Indian. 👌

Went here early on a Thursday and was really quiet which is a huge surprise considering how nice the food was. Service was fantastic and all the wait staff were very attentive! I can't wait to come back.

I have been to lots of Indian restaurant, but this place was a cut above the rest. Nicely interior, well spaced out and very welcoming. Was greater and well looked after by all the waiters. Unlike must restaurant we were not rushed to order food and we order in stages, which made the meal experiences. We was with a friend from back in Indian and the words he used at the end of the evening was, this is like being back home, food is so traditional tasting. For me all the food was cooked to perfection and the spice mix perfect. Normally, Indian restaurant currys can be oily, but this was far from it and portion sizes look small, but are very deceiving. Thank you to all the staff at Maharajas Retreat. Be seeking you all a gain very soon.

Fantastic food. Got the Laal Mass which comes highly recommended if you like tasty spicy curries. The Keema Naan bread was also delicious and the onion bhaji starter was amazing, the dips were delicious like the mango chutney and the onion chili dip. Great service all around as well. Highly recommended.

Went here on a Saturday evening. Was very busy with people waiting outside. Excellent Indian music was playing inside ( shows taste ) . Went to pick up a collection order. The manager was nice and friendly and chatted with us. The food was quite tasty as well. Good Indian vegetarian options. Also the food was neither oily nor super spicy - just perfect. Unlike some Bangla Indian Resto*s where the food is sometimes sweet , here the food was not so... so definitely authentic Indian cuisine. The portions for takeaway were also good. There was a 20% discount for collection.

The place and food is absolutely something else. As the starter; lamb chops which were fulll of taste fresh from the chargrill. As a main a mix charcoal meat which was outstanding with the soupy sauce which was full of taste too. My other side had butter curry which was actually full of taste too (other places are quite plain and mild). The sevice was awesome as they were making sure all the time that food was nice and they were taking care of us since we walked in till we walked out. If you go there make sure you try their house lager. Clean and prices are okay.

Went with a group of girlfriends and we were all really happy with the experience. Service was great and food even better! Highly recommend the poppadom and mango chutney to begin!

5 stars for the staff! They were all really friendly, polite and helpful. And it was great to get free parking at the nearby car park. Unfortunately the food was disappointing. The poppodums and sauces were bland, the main and the naan were nothing special... what a pity.

Amazing team night out. The food was amazing, lamb and chicken platters both generous and tasty. The special goat curry was the best curry I've ever tasted. I'll definitely go back. Very friendly and efficient service.

Brilliant welcome, friendly staff and food was amazing. Chef made 2 curries from scratch (no ready made curry) for me on my dietary needs (without Onion and Garlic), even they provided fresh chapati in replacement of cold one pre ordered early by me in mistake. I can honestly say best indian food I have eaten in 20yrs. I have been here twice and both times, from service to food exceptional. I would strongly suggest pairing your main dish of choice with the garlic & onion rice. Just fantastic. I am sure this restaurant will be on the Michelien guide in no time

Maharajas Retreat is opposite the hotel we stayed in, so we went with no real expectations. We were absolutely blown away! My husband and I were grinning through the whole meal in bliss! Without doubt the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten, the chefs have exceptional talent. Warm, funny and genial staff too! Can’t recommend highly enough.

This was the best curry me and my partner have ever had. We have eaten at so many Indian restaurants in London but they don't even compare. Real authentic Indian food. Highly recommend!

Attended as a group of 6 on a Friday night without booking- made to feel very welcome. The lady greeting customers very friendly and attentive. She was our waitress and really brought the menu to life with her descriptions and passion for the food. I recommend the trio of meat for starters, which is 3 starters in one (mini sizes). Main courses delicious! We had a variety of dishes and all of us us really enjoyed them (6 male seasoned curry eaters is not always easy to please- but we all rated the food and service very highly!). The staff in this place are amazing- friendly and attentive and have a real passion for their food and ensuring everything is just right for you. The restaurant has its own larger- it has a distinctive taste, they are currently refining the recipe with a local brewery and really welcome feedback on the taste. Not quite to my liking but other party members really enjoyed it. Overall 5stars in every area! This is a new restaurant, once word gets out I doubt you will get in on a Friday night without a booking for long as this place will become very popular! Will definitely be going back.

Wowzers. 😋😋😋 The food was excellent and well worth travelling from Stoke for our first experience and will be returning with all the family. Staff were friendly and service was 5 star. I rarely write reviews. Something or somewhere has to be special for me to do so. It was a cold and windy Wednesday night when the aroma from the Maharaja's Retreat drew me through the door. It was relatively quiet but got busier whilst I was there. In Nottingham on business, I sat alone and was attended to by very friendly staff. My order was taken quickly and took little time to arrive. The trio of lamb starter was cooked to perfection. Each portion of meat was succulent yet adequately different in taste to notice the difference. The soothing yoghurt made a pleasant accompaniment. This also made a perfect portion size. My main meal was sensational. I opted for the chilli garlic chicken with pilau rice and roti bread. The chicken was cooked to perfection, again succulent in perfect bite size portions. The sauce was spicy and fiery but did not overpower the flavours. The roti was crisp around the edges and buttery soft in the centre; the perfect bread to wipe up the remaining sauce! The staff were friendly, attentive and polite without being overly formal and interfering. This was a wonderful dining experience. I will return.
