An enjoyable steak and chips, Saturday afternoon lunch with friends. Haven't been for a while, but enjoyed it. Great attentive service and had the lunch time deal which seemed a bargain. A mixed bunch of diners.

Quite possibly the best food I have eaten in the past decade! It was absolutely fantastic. We came here as the grooms party on a stag do, and were amazed at both the quality and atmosphere of the steakhouse. I personally shared a meat feast starter - the meat of the ribs just melted of the bone, the wings were delicious and the nachos had a wonderful flavour and consistency. For the main I had the rump steak, and was cooked to perfection. It was so soft and juicy, and the taste was awesome. I think the entire party loved their steaks, and will be recommending it. I had the chef's special dessert and it was so well put together, even after all the other food I managed to fit it in and was overwhelmed by the quality. If anyone has managed to get to the end of this review and isn't convinced of trying it out, here is my recommendation! 100% worth the time, and money we spent in the restaurant, and we will be returning!

Couldn't fault our experience at all. Party of 19 catered for with ease. Staff were on hand for anything we needed but they we so on the ball, we never did need them. Waited on fully at the table. The staff were very friendly and professional at all times. The food was amazing quality and a great price, good selection of drinks too. We will definitely be returning and can't recommend this place highly enough. Great central location too.

Wow… what a lovely place. Eat before 5pm at weekends (6pm midweek) and it’s £13.95 for a 3 course meal… and what a great meal it was! Mine was Chicken wings, ribs and then sticky toffee pudding! Really nice relaxed atmosphere, great service. Just wished we lived closer❤️

Wow!!! I've eaten a lot of steaks in my lifetime and this place has got to be up there in my top 3! My wife and I went there just before closing and even so they accommodated us immediately. Food is fabulous and the manager; Sheriff (not sure of the spelling) was so friendly and polite. Absolutely Fabulous!

My husband and I enjoyed our meal at Soulville on Saturday. The lovely young man who served us was very attentive and offered great advice for our drinks. New chef? Ok it was my first time in here and I'd been told the food could be a bit "hit or miss" however when the starter came out I knew we were on to a winner and we thought that perhaps it was a new chef? Anyway the starters were ace and the mains too, I had a big juicy steak and couldn't fault it or the bits that came with it.. managed to squeeze in a pudding too which wasn't quite as good a standard as the first two courses but still nice.. all in all a great experience so can only highly recommend it.. We WILL be back!

The establishment itself looked unique and it was! We got chicken shares as a starter and was so tender, so delicious! Fillet Steak with all the trimmings was the best though - excellently cooked & the peppercorn sauce accommodated the meal well! We had choc fudge sundae (not a fan of chocolate ice cream) but was nonetheless superb! Highly recommend for the quality you get and amazing Motown 1960s music to create an ideal atmosphere! My man & I enjoyed it! Just make sure you book - we were fortunate to get in last minute! 🥩🍨

We used to come quite a lot - the food is nice but it’s just a very very cold restaurant - I don’t think they have heating on. Totally ruins the experience for us so stopped going. We are going to go again, as I said the food is nice, and hoping it’s more comfortable and warmer this time!

Staff were very friendly and attentive. We received mains within a few mins of finishing our starters. The food was well presented and tasted fantastic. The meat on the chicken wings and ribs fell off the bone and was well seasoned and extremely tasty. I highly recommend dining here.

Service was a little on the slow side and when the meals arrived my wife's "combo" was not delivered. Having said that the mistake was rectified extremely quickly and when we got our meals they all lived up to expectations. The three of us all had a steak with a combo, my wife plumped for the 8oz sirloin (medium rare) with ribs, our son had the 8oz ribeye (medium rare) with wings and I also had the 8oz sirloin (rare) with Louisiana chicken strips. Everything was cooked to perfection, the green peppercorn sauce was really tasty and for the price paid I came away feeling extremely satisfied. I personally like the decor of the restaurant and the music that is played, whereas my wife feels that it is in need of a revamp because it has been exactly the same for the 15 years we have been in Nottingham. Overall an extremely enjoyable meal and even though I alluded that the service could have been better, I will also add that just 2 ladies were looking after the entire restaurant and were under a bit of pressure.

If you like grease food this is your place. The music is really good, and the steak as well, but all the starters and chips are full of oil. The staff are friendly but you get annoyed when 3 people from the staff come to ask you if you want another drink every second. The cajun style food is quite nice although a bit pricy in general.

Love the environment of this place, total motown heaven. We have been on many occasions and enjoyed what we have ordered. Food is nice and the lady that greeted and served us was very polite and friendly. Only downside on this visit was the smell of lacquer that was present, we were told it was from some re-furb work that was taking place.

Really good steak dinner. Home style chips and an unexpected treat of side salad, .mushrooms and huge onion ring. Loveliness and tastiness on a plate. My colleagues had the hunters chicken again really nice. Lemon meringue dissapointing. Was just a lemon tart with a tiny crumbling of meringue but the brownie was a huge slices of chocolate cake filling the dessert plate. Great music, great staff.

Soulville has been around for some time now. Whilst the majority of the time it's pretty good I do find that it lacks consistency. When it's good you can't fault it but they let themselves down sometimes which is a shame. The lunchtime menu is poor though, stick to the main menu.

I love this place. The best steakhouse in Nottingham (do lots of other food other than steak)They do an offer for 3 courses at £12,95 and even on a weekend.. The rump is cooked to perfection and my knife cuts through like butter. Oh! and the blue cheese sauce is to die for.. Portion sizes are not stingy either. You get s gravy jug of sauce and not those tiny wee jugs you get in some restaurants.. Staff are lovely to..😊 I’ll regret doing this review as I’ll never get in when everyone discovers this place. No other steakhouse touches this in my book. 👍

As soon as we funished our mains we were told by waitress we had to vacate our table by 8 ( in about 20 mins) even tho restaurant was only half full. Then asked if wanted dessert. Said yes would look. Anyway about 10 mins later our bill was just plonked on the table. I said well i did say i wanted dessert. Got an oh didnt realise. I replied well u asked me i said yes. But its too late now isnt it as u have told us to leave at 8 and given us bill now. i cant be served and eat it in 3 mins. Felt on the whole custom was a bit unappreciated

Manager was a bit standoff ish to start off with but was friendly after a while.. we were a table of 4, the creamy mash was very dry I don't think there was any butter, cream or milk In it. The chips tasted like last weeks left overs, garlic bread was a little bit on the well done side but I still ate it. It will be a long time before if ever I go back. The surroundings is very tasteful the ambiance was nice temperature was spot on and they were a little busy.

Been to soulville today as it was our anniversary we normally go 3/4 times a year. In our opinion it has gone down a little the staff was great and it wasn't that busy. Our starters where nice but the chips were awful they were very hard like they were the days before chips you could probably break a tooth. Also hubby ordered steak medium rare it came out well done. We mentioned it to the staff , we won't be got there for a while. It's a shame as we were really love it there

Been trying to get in for a long time. There were four of us. The atmosphere was very good and lively, particularly the background music. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good choice of drinks to kick us off. Starters nice and tasty. Main meals OK but felt mine was slightly overdone and my wife's gammon and egg came without the egg and was bought to the table separately? We weren't offered any desserts so can't comment whether they are available or not. Very reasonably priced, we had a very pleasant time and would recommend and try again as the Soulville comes well recommended. I was just slightly underwhelmed by my main course overall and sure they do better, as our friends did enjoy theirs.

Difficult to find, and a nightmare to get parking nearby. The food was quite tasty, but it was smothered with a very sweet sauce. Even the side coleslaw was sweet. The food was also very heavily seasoned which gave quite a pronounced aftertaste. The place was well maintained, but the volume of the background music made it almost impossible to hold a conversation. The service was also pretty slow. The staff were friendly, but overall not really a place for a social gathering.

I remember why I said before I wouldn't go back. Its hard to put my finger on it but its an average place for what they charge. There no consistency, service, quality of food plated up. A family walked out whilst we were eating and they had ran out of most of the steaks before we left Sorry to say but its best days are long gone. A shame as the motown theme is great. Ps. Im sure the chef is a great person but my t bone wasn't great. Always difficult to complain once you've eaten but we won't be going back.

Good atmosphere and theme. Steaks looked (and according to friends tasted awesome). Veg options - carrot soup and vegetables lasagne very tasty. First visit to Soulville tonight for a family anniversary meal. Must say that the food was nice. The only reason for the 3 stars instead of more was that the service was really poor. We must have been served by everyone in the restaurant mostly asking exactly the same as the previous person. It was almost as if there was too many staff for the amount of customers. I'm sure their intentions were good but it's very frustrating being asked the same thing every 2 minutes. The starters turned up in good time but then the mains turned up before the starters had been completely cleared. We were then asked 4 times by 3 different people if we wanted desserts within the space of 2 minutes. After the desserts then bill turned up a split second later and then took 10 minutes to come and take payment. Shame really because the food was nice but the overall experience wasn't good on a night when it wasn't particularly busy.

Fantastic food, great music and friendly service. Often overlooked, this place serves some of the best cooked steaks in Nottingham, and if you don't like steak then the Louisiana Creole Chicken is also incredible. Fantastic value and quality.

Food was good, customer service not as good as it could have been. Poor communication, and no real apology as to why parts of my order had not been brought out with the rest; I was eating my starter 10-15 mins after everyone else. This is very disappointing as all aspects of the meal was a nice experience. It just would have been nice to have been told why food hadn't been brought out etc, rather than myself having to go down to the bar and be told "they're just cooking more up". The bill-paying process was then quite chaotic and confusing as we had to go to the till one-by-one, then remember what we had eaten/drank throughout the evening and pay separately, as opposed to a receipt being given to our table.

Whilst we were there no body sat in the seats for a good hour and galf. Not happy at all. Not going again. Been going there for years. Amazing we went for meal after friends wedding. The manager came in early so we could dress the table up and they didn't rush us through the meal or after the meal. Only criticism is on the lunch menu offer the meals are a lot smaller than they used to be.

1st time visit here yesterday after hearing people talking about it, I was really impressed it's a nice and cosy atmosphere and clean, my only issue which I will get out the way now was the fact that the restaurant wasn't busy at all and my partner and I were sat at a two person table right next to another couple who's table was that close to ours we were practically on the same table which made having a private conversation rather awkward! I should have asked to move but when your sat that close to strangers it was awkward! That was the only issue I had. The food was beautiful and fresh and tasty and plentiful, best chips I've ever had and the gammon steak I had was perfect, it came with a perfectly fried egg. The salad garnish was lovely as well. The staff were friendly and courteous and like I said before the atmosphere was warm and inviting and after our table companions left we could talk quite freely! I will definitely be visiting again....just make sure I'm sat at a better table!
