R. N.Have been here many times with my partner, but this time I went with a party of 18. Have to say for a large party the service was excellent. We decided (or it was suggested) that most large parties go for the meze, which was great as you get to try many of the beautiful dishes. Be warned though, there is a LOT of food to get through and I doubt many parties get through it all. Unfortunately I have two complaints, the chicken skewers were dry and non descript and why on earth you would bring the big bowls of Greek salad out at the very end of the meal, when everyone can't finish what was left on the table already was beyond me and 3 out of the 5 bowls were untouched.
S. H.Good location, good service and reasonably priced with friendly staff, seating can be a bit tight as very busy. Personally found some of dishes with meat a bit too fragrant. Can work out a bit expensive if you start if you go down the tapas route, get one normal meal if you want to save your cash a bit.

S. T.We ordered the Meze for four and it was brilliant. The waiter was really helpful and polite, he answered all the questions we had. If you have a meze for four it’ll be bigger. Don’t be fooled, the meze is not for the faint hearted! We were all stuffed by the end.
Atmosphere was delightful, but not overly busy for a Saturday at 6. A perfect little slice of Greece with authentic food, drink and staff. This is my third time going and I’d go back in a heartbeat. Definitely one of the best in Notts.

We went relatively early, about 6pm and there were quite a few customers in, but didn't seem too busy. Within about half an hour though the place was full.
We shared a bottle of wine, nothing sophisticated, had a sharing meat platter, chicken and lamb souvlaki, pork sausages, halloumi on some meat with greek salad, tzatziki, tabbouleh and flatbread.
All in all it was a nice meal, hearty but too much for 2, so we asked for some containers to take the rest home - and the following day our lunch was sorted.
Service was quick, efficient and polite. Decor was way better than expected from the outside, in fact quite decent. Food was good too.

J. D.This is not the first time we've been to this restaurant and it won't be the last, we're already booked in for lunch in a month's time. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave you are looked after impeccably. Even though we were in on the afternoon of New Year's eve there was no feeling of being rushed. We were in there for two and a half hours and everything happened in that typically laid back, Greek style where nothing was too much bother.
There were four of us and we ordered the Christmas meze for four. Quite a few things on the menu are already gluten free which suited one of our party but when the staff were told, the meze was changed to suit their needs without needing to ask.
The food itself is amazing, a large variety of dishes over four or five courses to give you an authentic selection of delicious Greek cuisine. There were a couple of things that I haven't tried before like the soutzoukakia but I will definitely have them again.
All in all it was a cracking afternoon, if you want to experience a traditional meze for a reasonable price then this is the place to come.
Sorry about the stereotypical picture but you have to have a Mythos with your meal!

B. M.The best Greek place in town! Even though it's the only Greek place I've been in Nottingham, I've tasted Mediterranean cuisine before, especially Greek.
Even though the place was busy and I didn't have a reservation, the owner(I believe)welcomed me and found me a table. The food was worth the wait, as I believe they prepare it fresh and from scratch.

M. W.Don't be deceived by the rather understated exterior of this restaurant, it's very nice inside. We turned up without a reservation and they fit us in and were so friendly. We ordered 3 tapas dishes each (as we normally do at tapas restaurants) but struggled to eat it all as the portions were very generous and delicious. If we lived in Nottingham we'd be regulars.
B. B.My husband and I went in for dinner prior to going to a gig at the Motorpoint Arena. We were greeted with a very warm welcome and a smile. The selection of drinks was excellent, great wines, cocktails, beers and soft drinks. The food was fantastic, it was so hard to limit ourselves to only a few dishes. Everything was delicious, really well cooked and the flavours were excellent. A great dining experience, really friendly staff. Next time we are in Nottingham we will definitely be coming back.

E. M.Delicious tapas style Greek dishes. They offer a great lunch deal but we also ordered a couple of dishes from the main menu. The stifado in particular was delicious, tender beef and a generous portion. There are are so many great dishes to choose from, we will be definitely be back to try more!

P. P.A very busy place and saw numerous potential customers turned away as they didn't have a reservation. Not my particular choice of food but the menu seemed to have a variety of choice for Tapas lovers. An observation on the gents was that the access was down a flight of very steep stairs. Our party of 6 was a little rushed as it was evident a 2 hour cover was in place.
A. W.My friend and I visited this wonderful restaurant after a visit vto the NIC. Tucked away in a side street was the place that tooked you away for a few hours to the med. The staff are friendly and the service even when the restaurant was full was quick and relaxed. We got sat next to a large group , we couldn't hear one another, so just tooked into the delicious breads and dips, luckily it wasn't too long before they were dragging their chairs about, instead of picking these up, every single one did this, and these people seemed to be well educated. I understand people enjoying themselves, but a little bit of consideration would be nice. Anyway the party left and so we began to enjoy the evening and marveling at the food. We chose the Meze for 2 , there was lots of food, to describe it, it is simple but it is executed to perfection, everything perfectly seasoned with the best and fresh ingredients Available. As I only visit Nottingham once a year , this is my now go to place. . The only problem with this restaurant is that I wish I lived nearer.
j. h.Love this place, have only been once but you can tell it’s what notts needs. Even though I love burgers and pizzas, there’s way too many places serving this type of food in notts. You don’t get to try new foods, Yamas has a large variety of dishes. You get to have a bit of everything and it tastes great. Service is bang on aswell, you look after you well.

We went for the lunch tapas menu, £8.95 each I think.
The menu is compact but covers a range that will suit most tastes.
We tried the pork belly, chorizo, chicken, lamb in vine leaves, hummous, and patatas bravas.
Honestly the hummous was not great, too coarse for me and the chicken was quite dry actually, the pork belly in breadcrumbs was an interesting choice but it didn't work for me. The chorizo was amazing, the lamb in vine leaves was amazing and the patatas bravas were, sadly cold.
It was ok it but I think the food was over rated (not necessarily over priced, I think it was good value), the service was excellent and I would go again if asked but I think I tried everything off the menu that I wanted so I probably wouldn't choose to go again.

These days you can even order throgh Deliveroo, Uber or straight from Yamas sites, but I believe as they are now opened the waiting for delivery will be longer. Maybe do it a day prior :D Such a lovely place, you need experience the atmosphere.
先.Although not my preferred cuisine, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. The place has a nice atmosphere, the wine selection is decent and my food was enjoyable. Only 4 stars because the Chicken Souvlaki was a little dry and bland in comparison to the lamb option. Still would recommend!

The spanakopitta, halloumi fries, garlic mushrooms and Tirokroketes (cheese balls) were all amazing. Great service too. The restaurant itself is clean and the seating well spaced out.

f. b.It seems like a very popular restaurant, so I guess it has a good following so maybe I was unlucky, or chose the wrong thing, but for me, I found the food rather dull. I went for the meze and although everything was edible, it seemed a little bland with little attention to detail. The beef stew was tasty enough, but I felt the orzo was a bit overcooked. I wouldn't rush back.

T. P.I recently attended a family event at Yiamas for a birthday. Being a frequent visitor to Greek Restuarants and being of Greek Cypriot origin, I was disappointed with the experience and food at Yamas, for the reasons set out below:
- We were left waiting a long time to be served the first part of our meze.
- Once the dips and pittas came (traditional dips in most Greek restaurants are Taramasalata, Tzatziki and Hummus) we all received quite a spicy shock to our taste buds, as what we put in our mouths and expected it to be Taramasalata, was in fact Tirokafteri (a spicy Greek dip). We were not told by any of the waiters despite having children within our our group.
- The duration of time between each part of the meal was far too long and the portion sizes were too small.
- The Greek salad was served half way through the meal as opposed to the beginning with the dips.
- Traditional Greek recipies have been severely tampered with to "modernise" the food, but some things are best left original. Example being the klitharaki, which really tasted like Spaghetti Bolognese.
- The small portion of the chicken kebabs we received were unseasoned and severely overcooked. Certain pieces on my plate resembled the charcoal that they were cooked on.
- The Halloumi Cheese was artificial.
Overall, a nice venue, but the service, food portions and authenticity of the cuisine needs to be severely improved.

But it was the best lamb shank I've ever tasted. Star of the night even though all of the other dishes were amazing too. I can't express how good the service is, or how attentive they are to you. I had water to drink with my meal, and it was topped up as soon as I had finished , without me asking. The selection to choose from on the menu is amazing, especially with myself being a vegan and my husband a meat eater. The hummus must be the best I've tasted. The only complaint was that they don't do doggy bags, so you can take home what you can't eat. What an amazing place which I'm looking forward to going back to.

L. B.I went to this Greek restaurant last night. The food was very reasonably priced we started off with the sharing starter: Yamas dips which consisted of pitta bread with 4 dips tzatziki, houmous, tabbouleh (couscous) and patzarosalta (beetroot) which was amazing.
Then I had a souvlaki lamb which is tzatziki with skewer of lamb that is tender I really enjoyed this and i had green beans and tomatoes on the side with douphinoise potatoes. The whole meal was amazing. I would definitely recommend and I will be going back here. I was so full that I couldn't manage any dessert the staff was brilliant here they couldn't do enough for us. My mum was cold at one point so they turned the air con down for her which is great thank you to all the staff here.

The food was warm, the octopus was undercooked, the whitebait wasn't gutted the way the Greeks clean them, the taramosalata had the texture of whipped cream, the butter beans were bland.
The carpets were filthy which is unacceptable after being closed for so many months.
The bill was £60+ for 2 people without wine - the service and quality should have been much higher

Don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior inside there is a little gem. This is a family run Meze & Tapas restaurant which reminds me of places in the Greek Islands,Cyprus and Crete. This is firstly done by the Owner and Staff who are friendly and efficient whilst creating a relaxed atmosphere making the whole experience that much more enjoyable. The second is the food which is superb and freshly prepared and a menu that allows you to have as much or little as takes your fancy. Although you may have to wait a little for your food as we did this is no hardship due to the atmosphere that has been created and a good bottle of wine. I would recommend Yamas without hesitation and will certainly be returning.

Food was epic! Great tapas. Chorizo being my usual fav was a must, and it was amazing - they looked ready to burst, which they did with flavour in my mouth. Other dishes including patas bravas, lamb stuff vine leaves, stifado and a few others all top notch.
The only slight grumble was the hummus needed more lemon and garlic as lacked a little flavour, but I would not let that put me off at all. I'd reorder exaclty the same again in a heartbeat.
Well priced, and bonus, the hand dryer in the toilet was a rapid blowing monster! This usually annoys me when I go to places with driers I can blow harder than. Sad I know, but I wash my hands after going to the loo - unlike the guy that was in there before me! Dirt bag! 🤣
Restaurant was busy, almost full downstairs when we left and upstairs had plenty going up. We didn't book, but could easily see why you might have to even at lunch time. We went early due to having our little boy, and glad we did.

u. s.They have large variety of Greek Mezes and Spanish tapas. Food was so nice with so many options. Prices might be high if you are looking for a cheap place. That's the reason i am giving 4 stars. You might need to book in advance if you are dining on weekend or special days. We managed to find a tablr as they have many tables on ground floor and upstairs. But keep in mind to reserve table if you are planning to go with many people.

I prefer dining upstairs, as I have found it a little too noisy when there are large groups downstairs, especially at weekends if you are a table of two your conversation is drowned out by the noise. Its also a great spot for a lunch and very good value.

The management and staff have always been welcoming and friendly. The Greek/ Cypriot specialities (e.g. Stifado and Kritharaki) are especially recommended. And the Greek Coffee and deserts are well worth a visit on their own.

J. N.Food was ok, definitely not as good as traditional food in Greece. Price of beer is extortionate, over £5 for a single 500ml bottle of Mythos, even the San Miguel was expensive. You expect it to be higher than normal in a restaurant but not so high. Portion sizes are ok but not great. The lamb Kleftiko left a lot to be desired as it was essentially just a plain lamb shank, seemed to be unseasoned. Souvlaki was great, salad was great. I get that it's Meze style but if you buy a salad, some potatoes and a normal dish you are looking at £20+ per person without bread, without starters or desert. Most of the staff were friendly and service was ok. Seemed like they were trying to rush us out when we finished our food. We had a table booked and arrived on time so they were expecting us.
Overall, disappointed in the experience as we all love Greek cuisine and atmosphere. Expected a lot more after reading the reviews and hearing how good this place is. We have Greek friends and this is nowhere near on-par with their homemade cooking.
Worth a try if you like Greek food, maybe we caught it on a bad night but wasn't impressed.

There aren't a lot of small family restaurants in Nottingham where you need to book for a Saturday lunchtime but it's certainly advisable here and that level of popularity tells you all you need to know. One of Nottingham's worst kept secrets!
