Thai food in celebration of my birthday! The ambiance is really good, too is the service. An exceptionally wide selection of food and drink: every item was so delicious! The iced tea is a bit too sweet for my taste, yet the chance of having Thai iced tea itself does not come every day. We had the set menu for two, but I will definitely come back to try other delicious food.

Great food great environment. Always love their tables and chairs. Staff were very nice and friendly. Mix starter with the mini satay grill stand was good. Curry and crab fried rice were very good too. Steamed Thai style fish is slightly cold when served.

The reviews online are not wrong. The restaurant is centrally located in proximity to the train station. The ambience is lovely and traditional. The staff are gentle, kind, welcoming and attentive. The food portions are generous and well presented, arriving piping hot. The menu is extensive. The meal did not feel rushed at all. Despite it being a Saturday night - we stayed for almost 4 hours and did not feel pressured to end the dining experience even though the restaurant was full. I would recommend booking in advance. I would like to thank all the staff at this restaurant for such a lovely dining experience. Thank you!

I have tried all Thai restaurants in oxford and this one is the best!! Very cosy and warm atmosphere, super friendly staff, we had an excellent place in the restaurant which my our trip especially pleasant! I had a coconut soup which was the best soup I have ever tried in my life! Other starters, main and drinks were great as well! I will be back for sure!

As an asian food connoisseur, I am a very picky customer but they satisfied all my expectations:) In north Oxford I also tried several southeast Asian restaurants like giggling squid (which is very expensive and has bad food quality), but this is way more cheaper and better!

What an amazing restaurant! Hidden in plain sight, this place really takes you to Thailand for a couple of hours. Food is exceptional, amazing service and staff. Very nice Thai restaurant in the heart of Oxford. Near the train station. Accesible to all transportation. Didnt realise parking bays outside the restaurant is for loading only and unfortunately we received a PCN. Food presentation is excellent. Staff are great. Very authentic and tasty food. They do cooking lessons as well. Make sure not to miss looking at the intricate woodwork on each table. Very highly recommended. Will be back soon

Very good Thai food. I had the belly pork which was fantastic, spicy and aromatic. The restaurant has a impressive vaulted ceiling with wood beams, decor traditional Thai with nice ambiance. The place was very packed probably cos of the quality of the food. However they still managed to get all our food out in good time. The drinks service was a little lacking, had to ask a few times to remind them about our order. All in all very good!

Bangkok House definitely deserves a 5 star for all the three key features of a restaurant. 1. Food 2. Ambience 3. Service Food : The food is excellent, and the portion is quite generous. There are excellent options for Thai soups, starters and main course dishes. The taste is really authentic and they use genuine Thai ingredients for the food. Cons - The only shortcoming I found was absence of genuine Thai desserts. This is one aspect that they could consider adding/improving. Ambience : Of all the restaurants I have visited in Oxford, the aesthetics and ambience of Bangkok House is the best, by a huge margin. The tables, chairs and interiors are of engraved wood with interesting Thai designs. The statues and idols kept on these furniture give an awesome vibe. Service : The service was incredible. The waiters and managers are all very warm, friendly, helpful and really suggest good items to order if you are not sure of your choice. I have seen a few negative reviews regarding service, but I believe that they went on weekends or public holidays. On weekends and holidays, the service does get a bit slow. Therefore, I would recommend visiting here on any weekday to enjoy the best service. I will definitely be returning again. Simply enjoyed the awesome food here.

Brilliant thai food and good service. Portions are reasonably sized for the price. If you want to spend a little more, their Cocktails were also surprisingly good. The decorations are beautiful, hand carved wooden furniture and sculptures in a rustic building. Looks best after dark.

I haven’t been to Thailand and have a strong Chinese tongues. But, after trying almost all Thai restaurants in Oxford, reading and London, I would say Thai Corner in Windsor go first. This one (Bangkok house) gets the second place. Bolan Thai in Reading is the third.

Fantastic all round! Brilliant food and brilliant staff! I've been wanting to visit this place for years, and was particularly taken by their "Thai Special Menu". E-Sarn sausage was really incredible, but so were the more traditional Thai dishes of Tom Yum soup, Pad Thai, Pad Sei ewe, Krapow etc. The staff were really lovely, but we had the joy of being served by Wan, who was hilariously funny and a joy to be around. Food prices are sensible, as are the wine prices. We'll definitely be coming back soon!

Do good take-out during lockdown - plastic tub for each, good food, happy days! 😁 Got: Vegetarian Spring rolls 🥟 (with sweet chilli sauce 🌶) Vegetarian Panang (my housemates got Chicken Panang 🐔) both were tasty. An old place, never previously tried, and a huge mistake made. Considered going many times and always put off, tried tonight and some great food! Individual BBQ for finishing off satays, intricate food carving skills and excellent presentation, food very well made and tastes excellent. Me and my partner went here for a date night, and it was a real treat! Spitting distance from the station, it is decorated beautifully and the staff are all really kind and friendly. I have never been to Thailand and therefore cannot speak on how authentic the food is but the flavors were amazing. The Siam wings were deep fried chicken lollipops and the chicken inside was so juicy and flavorful! The seafood pad Thai had some muscles, squid and shrimp. The noodles were also very flavorful. Felvioys Thai beer, manly Chang. I left very satisfied.

A unique building housing a Thai restaurant with a great atmosphere. The menu has all you would expect. Set menus give good variety (some for 2+ diners, others for 4+) including vegan options, and there's plenty more available a la carte. Service is friendly and efficient. Really really like their salmon chee Choo (creamy red curry). Never thought Thai curry with salmon but it's very good. Milky tea was good. Not too sweat. Recommended. Spicy salad (middle one) was very spicy. My origin is Sichuan which is famous for eating spicy food in China. I felt my ear canals were burning when eating this salad.

Waited over an hour for food even though takeaway orders were constantly being delivered. Furthermore, service was not very good and waiters ignored us. Definitely a place to go in Oxford. The food is very tasty and flavoursome. I tried a New Zealand Sauvignon which went well with a Pad Tia dish. The decor was well presented, joy was the carved table which stated a fun chat as the detail looked exquisite.

Spoiler alert: I have been coming here for years and absolutely love this place. The venue itself has all those lovely carved tables and other paraphernalia that hark back to Thai culture. The food is authentic. You will not find "fusion" or "street food" concepts here. Just dishes cooked in an authentic Thai way bursting with all the flavours that make Thai cuisine so delicious. There's got to be a reason this restaurant has been open for years while others around it have closed - and for me it's simply the quality of food.

The best Thai restaurant in oxford, if not the country - but only if you order from the “special Thai menu”!! Fantastic food, charming service, and authentic flavours have made this my favourite eatery in the city. Half the fun is seeing the wood paneling and the wooden furniture. Without a doubt the best Thai/Malaysian/Indonesian restaurant in Oxford. The prices at dinner time are competitive and the prices during Lunch are lower. The quality of the food is superb and the staff are not just friendly but personal and they get to know you. As for the decor, it is amazing.

Well after a very disappointing start to the day when the control tower wouldn't let me fly, the Mrs thought she'd take me out to cheer me up. We had a fantastic day, drinking copious amounts of gin. As it was too early in the day for sex (apparently) we decided to tibby on down to the Bangkok House as one had developed quite a hunger. The service there was absolutely fantastic and the food was delightful! Needless to say what started out as an awful day ended in me being extremely happy and the fabulous meal we had played a big part in it. Highly recommended.

This is for sure a place to go to with a big crowd and friends. Its very fancy looking, the decor is phenomenal, the staff surely dress the part, and the atmosphere is pretty chill and cozy. However, my one beef is that the restaurant did not, for me, deliver what was most important: quality of the food. I always judge a new Thai place based on my standard of Pad Seiew, Chicken satay, and Thai Ice tea. If the place gets it right, I'll come back; and this place did not get it right. That's not to say that the food is awful. What I'm saying is that the scenery and price do not match the value of the meal i ordered. I expected a WOW and instead got a meh... Go there for cool atmosphere and a good time, but dont expect a big WOW in terms of food. Search for other, smaller, diners that may not be as pretty in the eyes, but sure are good on your taste buds.

Just went to Bangkok House on a one hour lunch break - was so impressed with the lunch menu! Great value for money - had a lovely red curry which came quickly and was eaten even quicker. Ok my sister spent 5 years in Thailand in the Eighties, opened a Thai restaurant in Cheng mai, came back to US with Thai husband and child. As a culinary instructor I ended up Teaching Thai cuisine as part of my culinary profession for the last 30 years. Used a lot of her recipes and experiences. Needless to say I am an expert on Thai cuisine. This restaurant has most of the recipes down pat. We are here 2 nights in a row and had 10 dishes. Very well done. Remember Thai cuisine is bitter sweet salt hot and sour. All balanced. This restaurant is the closest I have experienced in a long time.
