I was treated by my lovely girls to Mother’s Day Sunday lunch, I had the smoked eel to start, which was to die for, followed by steamed mullet, another dish of total deliciousness. I don’t normally have a dessert, but the pistachio cake with rhubarb swayed me and I was not disappointed, Devine!! We dined in the conservatory, and although an outside space with sides, it was adequately heated, and we were able to enjoy the view of the river, entertained by the punt boats. I would thoroughly recommend, the food was excellent, service very good with knowledgeable staff and we all had a very nice day

We had our wedding reception here and it was fantastic. A lovely setting, delicious food, friendly staff and punting during the drinks reception! I'm so happy we chose the Cherwell Boathouse and can't wait to visit again. Photos by Neil Hanson

Very good dining experiences on three occasions, though short of excellence. The seafood dishes were all delicious, though my steak could have had a bit more care taken in its preparation. As the picture shows, it is fairly uninspiring and unevenly seared. The desserts are simple but tasty. The location is lovely in the summer. My only other quibble is the state of the toilets - often smelly and dirty. That being said, this place clearly knows their food, and there is great potential to improve it even more!

Well a long weekend in Oxford! We arrived this afternoon and looked for a nearby restaurant we were lucky a few 100 metres down the road was this hidden Gem . Yes quite tucked away on the banks of the river an idyllic location for dinner or as it seems a party because although we came early there were 2 large gatherings all ready seated. We mentioned to the MaitreD we had an evening appointment and needed to pass in a timely manner . Service was prompt and excellent with adequate attention and swift execution. We ordered 2 mains directly and while waiting homemade bread and herb scented olive oil for dipping, delicious. For the mains we ordered the Halibut with goat cheese mash mange tout and various garnishes, I ordered the steamed gray Mullet with quinoa picked veg and again various garnishes. Both meals were well proportioned and excellently cooked very much enjoyed and tasty. Along with the Kent sparkling wine followed by the Alsace white enjoyment predominated. To follow key lime pie and strawberry sorbet completed an enjoyable experience.
So not miss a visit if in the area.

Our band, The Shuffles Band from Bristol, were lucky enough to play at Cherwell Boathouse for a wedding. Stunning location, helpful staff. It was amazing. Sound levels were not an issue for our band. We would recommend!! x

Nice vibe in the conservatory area. Sunday roast was amazing - one of best I’ve had. Presentations of the dishes were beautifully done too.

We had a family dinner here and found this restaurant very enjoyable. The location by the river, the top class service, the interesting menu, and simply great food. Apart from the weather, i don't know what more one could wish for.
We are hoping to come back next time we are in Oxford.
Note that the location is some way from the centre of Oxford, about 25-30 minutes walk if you are feeling energetic.

A great place to celebrate a special occasion. Staff are all very good and helpful. Food is excellent and the prices reasonable. Lovely setting. Could do with more disabled parking.

Lovely atmosphere, great place for a punt after lunch, but my food was not good. I had the lamb for Sunday roast and it was tough and chewy and didn't come out hot - definitely the worst lamb I've had anywhere. Vegetables and Yorkshire pudding were 👌 though or I would have given 2 stars. It's possible that other things on the menu are better, just don't get the lamb.
