Reviews of Gees Restaurant & Bar

Sensational Mediterranean-style restaurant set in a conservatory. We went mid-week and it was busy so booking is essential.
Impeccable service, food, drinks, and seating. We really enjoyed our time at Gees.
Started with a Queen Bee (ginger liqueur, gin, lemon and honey) that slipped down very well and had a good sized gingery aftertaste.
For starters, it was octopus cooked over a wood fire on a bed of lentils and carrot. Every layer was delicious and flavoursome. The octopus was perfectly cooked.
Salmon fish cakes followed and these I found to be quality but totally filling. Not soaked in oil nor greasy and a just right portion size.
Will definitely revisit.

Lovely setting - I never went before the refurb but I chose to sit in the main restaurant (the glass orangery) and it was a lovely setting. We were given a free prosecco on arrival as I was celebrating my wedding anniversary which was a nice touch.
Waitress was cold. The food was very average - rigatoni was disappointing and my wives prawn linguine was nothing special. The antipasti was average - would have loved some mozzarella and could have done without the sardines. Oddly, it doesn’t say what you’ll get. Everything was massively under seasoned. I’ve never used so much salt in a restaurant ever. Drinks over priced. Great setting but below average food and service. Wouldn’t return.

A good spot for anything! Beautiful old florists conservatory space oozes character and the thoughtful funky decor brings a relaxed yet decadent style to things. Serving staff adorned in liberty print floral shirts adds to the uniqueness.
A perfect place to dine, drink and debate with friends. Book!

Succulent and perfectly seasoned scallops, firm fleshed rock bass, and fig tart. All deliciously cooked in the inimitable conservatory space of Gees.

Been here twice in the last month since moving to the area. First time was for a Sunday lunch and second time for an evening meal. Food is expensive but absolutely worth the price! Some of the most delicious food I have had in Oxford! The octopus starter was especially well cooked. We were celebrating a birthday and the waiters bought a little scoop of ice cream with a candle with desert which was a thoughtful touch and the service was brilliant throughout!

Really happy we chose Gees to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary. The staff were welcoming and the food was amazing. I really enjoyed the atmosphere in the greenhouse style room and the lighting. Romantic vibes.

Still one of the best restaurants to eat in oxford I used to work here 22 years ago as a chef the food was exquisite then and it's just as good if not better now.
We popped in for our honeymoon meal and it didn't disappoint a beautiful setting nice and relaxed the staff are absolutely charming a stunning restaurant
I had the fantastically cooked fillet of halibut beautiful depth of flavour in the dish absolutely delicious.
We will definitely be coming back here next year and it was an absolute pleasure to meet Russell the head chef
Thank you for taking the time to show me around where I used to work.

Went there for my 30th birthday yesterday and was absolutely blown away by the food, setting and service. Robin was fantastic — the perfect level of attention with great humour! He made me feel very special too. We also thought the food was terrific — good portion sizes and delicious. We ended up eating outside which, with the weather, felt like we were in Tuscany! All-in-all a brilliant experience. We will definitely be back! Thank you, Robin and team 💗💗

First visit back to Gees for two years - and delighted to say it remains my favourite brunch venue in Oxford. Quality, friendly, speedy service. The eggs benedict royale is superb - perfect hollandaise and the eggs are spot on. Only criticism is the regular coffee is served in a glass and is quite small. But still great to be back in this quality venue and I will return again soon.

We thoroughly enjoyed a evening meal and we were delighted to be shown a table in the garden...situated next to a water feature.
The staff were welcoming and helpful and provided a vegan option for my wife. The menu offered plenty of choice and the meal was of excellent quality and quantity.
It is a beautiful and atmospheric place to enjoy a meal and we will be back soon.
