Reviews of George Street Social

Such a great place! A really warm welcome from Peter (who runs George Street Social). Nothing was too much trouble to accommodate us on a Saturday night. A superb table and a bowl of water for our doggo too! …

We really enjoying this place! We try most of the cocktails that was actually really good and in Balance.!
I want to mention and that they have a great collection of wine and that the waiters did great job in to explain origin of the wine textures etc. Looking forward for the food menu to try next time.

Location: Amazing location. Place is very nice with comfortable seating.
Staff: Extremely friendly and welcoming.
Food: I had the shakahuka. The eggs were hard and overcooked. Would not recommend. Black americano very very good!
Overall: Will definitely visit again and try other options.

First time in this place, with a menu ideal for everyone, I've ordered some avocado and toast, which was ok, just the flavour of spring onion was to strong and I think they've put also lemon juice! The staff is good and the place is beautiful! Good to have a visit!

Great vibe, buzzing on the inside. Food options were good. Shakshuka left a lot to be desired sadly (especially without runny yolks, and HUGE pieces of feta and chorizo, rather than smaller pieces) but would go back to try other things.

An interesting experience at George Street Social. My party and I were so excited to visit this brunch spot during our weekend away in Oxford. We ordered via the app, which was a mistake. Half the food came before the drinks which was frustrating. When the rest of the food arrived, one dish was missing for around 20 minutes. We realized that the order had not gone through the app. There was no notification from the app or information from servers to say the order had not been received. These complications weren't met with the best customer service. The eggs Benedict looked fantastic, however the eggs were over cooked and the hollandaise was cold. Despite this it was still a nice meal. My friends ordered smashed avo on toast and loved it. My advice would be to order through your server and not the app, to avoid any complications. If you like your eggs runny, definitely let them know to avoid any solid yolk disappointments. Overall, it was an okay experience.

I booked to dine here with 6 friend for their bottomless brunch. The staff were lovely and attentive as the Prosecco kept following.
However, the chicken and waffle dish was overly disappointing. The 3 friends and I who ordered it were served with what looked like shop bought waffles that had been toasted for too long because they were burn and hard when they arrived. Accompanying the waffles was a dry breadcrumb chicken fillet breast that was halved as if the kitchen was running low on chicken. The one strip of streaky bacon was the highlight of the meal as it was big and succulent.
I made it known to the staff that I wasn’t happy with my meal. They were very accommodating and the supervisor offered to give me something else on the menu. I ordered the shakshuka which I enjoyed.
After travelling to Oxford for 2.5hours in 30degree heat that day, my 3 friends who had not eaten breakfast, were too hungry and exhausted to reorder another meal but they expressed their deep dissatisfaction during and after eating the meal.
It a lovely spot, with decent food for the most part and incredibly friendly staff but I’d avoid ordering the chicken and waffles if you do go.

Had a delicious (and good sized) coffee and shakshuka with chorizo and aubergine. This was also delicious. Nice breezy atmosphere. Great experience overall.

My friends and I stopped by here for a brief sit-down over coffee/tea. I've never had mojito mint tea before, and it was superb! Overall, it has a clean and friendly atmosphere.

Before I go any further, I will say that I would have given 3.5 stars for this review if I could have. It actually was a pleasant experience to visit here, great vibe & attentive service despite it being packed out.
The hot drinks we had were all on point, however 3 of the 5 meals our party had were disappointing. Two of us had the pancakes with bacon & maple syrup, however as you can see from the photo there was simply way too much syrup on the plate. Even for those sweet-toothed youngsters it was simply far too sweet & sickly. A suggestion would be to serve the syrup on the side so that it can be added to individual taste.
I myself had the chorizo shakshouka. Although the dish itself was filling & tasty, the eggs were completely hard with no runny yolks at all. Also I would expect for the price that fresh grilled tomatoes rather than tinned tomatoes would have been used.
I hope these suggestions are taken in the spirit they are meant - I certainly wouldn't be put off coming again
