Reviews of Le Pain Quotidien
C. C.
Wonderful little café we discovered and the staff is just so amazingly helpful. During a quick lunch bite we dropped a knife on the floor and Patrick, one of the servers, bolted over and promptly replaced it with a smile. Now that’s service.
Would go again and again!!
E. S.
I loved my visit today! I stopped for a coffee and pastry and it was amazing! The staff were friendly and the environment was clean. The prices were also very reasonable. I'll definitely be returning.
c. c.
Lovely shopping centre bistro style restaurant/cafe. Stunning choices of bread and croissants. We had breakfast of eggs and yummy bread and delicious coffees. They even did babycinos for our little 3 year old. Brilliant 👏
J. S.
Amazing and perfect customer service from Patryk! I hope you get a bonus from this review :) Food was tasty and delicious. Also, QoL with splitting the bill and already having the service charge on each guests meal was incredibly helpful. We would definitely come back again!
L. N.
Fantastic brunch, unexpected yogurt with fruit, cereal and compote. Cheese, ham, sourdough bread, part baguette and croissant or pain au chocolate. Soft boiled egg, latte and bellini. Great food, great price, fantastic service. I will be back.
K. D. R.
hello,
I went there on 20 august 2022, and because of my allergies, it was difficult for my to have something to eat of the bakery.
But the lady of the store, was so helpfull and pacient, to find something for me I can have.
so thank you so much for your service.
The cinnamon swirl was so delicious. thanks
S. M.
Great food and service, great air condition, the best music
M. N.
Went for lunch, we like the atmosphere and the staff were thoughtful and accommodating with our children. Food was great!
S. M.
Our experience was good. We liked the pastry selection. The scrambled eggs was ordinary
V. S.
That was truly a pleasure visiting! Beautiful desserts and a very good coffee. Also tried fresh bread last time and it was as good. Definitely recommend as it's one of the best French patisserie in Oxford! Just give it a try. They also have lunches and other dishes, with prices being reasonable.
H. H.
Exquisite upscale cafe with a rich assortment of bread. Atmosphere is very nice and calming, menu options are good for breakfast, lunch, or tea time. Service is very hospitable and friendly.
M. T.
A very good little tea shop but let down badly by the selection of gluten free foods. The only gluten free cake is chocolate brownie. Why does everyone assume that because one is gluten free one has to eat chocolate. Many are also sensitive to chocolate in the same way as sensitive to caffeine.
D. L.
Lovely cosy cafe with fast and efficient service. Big windows allow a good chance to people watch but the place is still plenty warm. Snazzy and trendy menu with a good choice of pastries and light bites. The perfect pre shopping breakfast!
H. R.
A really nice place that serves its brunch stuff all day. I had the mushroom toast which comes on a big slab of their excellent bread and smothered in light source cream. Mmm. Delicious.
A. S.
The organic lentil and avocado salad was absolutely delectable and the freshly-pressed 1-a-day green juice was really refreshing. I want to go back soon and order the salted caramel raw nut cake which is vegan too. I have never been to a Le Pain Quotidien before but will definitely be coming back. The ambience and the layout of this place is really lovely and spacey yet cosy. The main reason for me coming here is because they have ample choice for vegans. Definitely recommended to all my vegan friends!
G. C.
It's not quite as lovely as the one at Canary Wharf in London but this is a nice spot and had friendly service even though we went near closing time.
C. M.
Really tasty breakfast food! Unfortunately something was missing from my friend’s order otherwise could have been 5 stars.
A. L. G.
Excellent Service, Good Coffee, Tasty Cakes
We loved this place. We were just passing by and considering whether to stop for a coffee when one of the staff approached us and offered us a table immediately.
Our orders were quickly taken. The drinks arrived first (a coffee and a smoothie) and were delicious. The delicious cakes we'd ordered then appeared. The portions were very generous.
The staff checked a couple of times that we were OK and whether we needed anything else. I was impressed with their friendliness and good nature. And would go back here again when visiting Oxford.
c. z.
Food is always great, friendly staff and good coffee!
D. L.
I loved the vibe at Le Pain Quotidien. I have never been to one before so it was exciting. I would recommend if you want a place to have a light lunch with a great atmosphere. The food I had was amazing, I really liked the spicy pumpkin soup. I would definitely go again and I would recommend.
C. B.
Very posh and up to date with the times. Very good range of food and drinks and other items.
Staff lady who took our order was very nice and happy to wait for us to look at cakes and menu. This makes a change so was very pleased too see this. Hotcholate was lovely, I very much enjoyed :) cakes were nice but different to what I'm used to! Very good ingredients and range for all food types. I would definitely recommend. Price is about right for the type of coffee shop.
E. T.
Really nice lunch. Very good gluten free options as well
D. V.
The Place is nice and the menus look good. I made the wrong decision for the order (too much bread), but all the other orders look good.
A. V.
Delish carrot cake and chai latte. Good cake and coffee combo for good price
R. B.
Lovely baguettes! They’re a bit pricey but they’re authentic.
A. W.
Lovely.... everything is fresh . Have there own bakery. It's delicious ☕️🧁🍰
T.
Very polite service. The coffee and buns aren't bad either
A. H.
Meal in, breakfast. Very nice. But where the smoothies and French toast?
L. B.
Cakes & coffee great but some things not quite as good. Ketchup was literally salsa which my children didn't like and the hot chocolate was cold in a glass. But otherwise nice environment.
A. W.
Literally meaning, "Daily Bread", Le Pain Quotidiene is a high-end, bustling, cafe, serving pastries and light lunches, including soups, etc. It's very "Oxford darling" in feel with lots of organic-this and quinoa-that and has a great lively vibe.
It's reasonably priced, but no discounts given for your coffee cup not having a handle. They defo serve a good cappuccino and great to see they don't even offer chocolate sprinkles, which is not at all Italian (proper authentic).
Go try for yourself. I think you'll like it. 😁
S. D. V.
Great place for families we enjoyed the breakfast. the waiters are very helpful.
A. N.
It’s a chain and you get what you’d expect from it. Consistent experience but completely average coffee:
C. D. o. L. P. F. W.
Thank you to the staff and management of Le Pain Quotidien. Hosting our team today followed by a delicious lunch.
R. S.
Great relaxed atmosphere; coffee and staff are spot on. Quieter than the main high street chains with better/healthier and more food choices.
M. B.
Very good food for us as we both have dietary limitations so finding a good place is not easy but this was excellent, will revisit whenever we go to Oxford
M. D.
A great find!
We were in Oxford shopping and popped in here for lunch absolutely superb quality and taste.
I had the toasted chicken and mushroom porcini really enjoyed it.
Definitely will come back
A. D.
Really nice breakfast, croissants were lovely
J. R.
Lovely French restaurant with delicious food selection, excellent for lunch. We had mini sandwiches with smoked salmon on cheese and cucumber& chives on the top. Nice smoothies- chocolate& banana, also fruity one. Kind waitress.
S. L.
Coffee and cake / pastry /scone and jam all yummy.... what more can you want.
C. C.
Great coffee fantastic sandwiches and cakes in a beautiful surrounding
M. S.
Nice place for breakfast, always busy.. Menu much more limited than it used to be, mainly bread based with eggs, bacon, avocado options. Service can be a bit slow especially the coffee.
E. M.
Our breakfast was delicious. The place was a bit busy but the waiter friendly. They serve clean quality food and are family friendly too even if they are busy!
R. M.
Nice ambience, friendly staff. Glacial service, tepid coffee.
M. L.
Nice selection of dishes in great surroundings. Fast service despite it being busy. Food just a fraction on the pricey side for size of portions but great tasting. I wanted a diet Coke or Pepsi, but not on the drinks list - suspect it's not in keeping with the image! :)
C. N.
Trendy. A bit of a wait for a latte and mocha, despite there being plenty of staff about. £8, so more than I usually pay. Still, I guess they have high overheads. Food looked fine. May visit again.
L. W.
Yesterday, my wife and I visited your restaurant in the Westgate, Oxford. It was our first trip out with our newborn daughter, who is only 5 days old. We also had our 20-month old son with us who, unfortunately for us, was sick all over our table and food. This was not in the list of expected complications during our first trip out and it completely threw us.
Although the visit started on an average note with no staff in sight to seat us and then a slow male waiter, fortunately, there was an angel of a lady working and looking after our table and she came into our visit and precisely the right moment. She swept in, moved us to a different table, reordered our food and drinks and cleared everything up with no word of complaint, only telling us not to worry. The food and coffees were delicious, but it was the attitude and service from this lady that we cannot be thankful enough for. So, our first experience of Le Pain Quotidian really put the customer service to the test and you past with distinction.
Thank you so much to that angel of a lady working the back of the restaurant mid-morning yesterday (Fri 06 Dec). Thank you also to the lovely lady customer who whisked over to us too and helped fetch staff and even offered a pair of socks to us for our son. It was one of those memorable visits for all the right and wrong reasons! We will return, but hopefully with less drama!
K. O.
Upon shyly entering to sit /inside/: quite a nerve-wracking self-dare at this pandemic point!, a super, friendly waitress bounced up and made me feel very welcome. The fresh juice and soup of the day were just right to hit the spot. I hope this Oxford branch realises the huge value of their staff, as she made a big difference!!
T. I.
A beautifully decorated restaurant as well as resting place after or during shopping in the arcade. It gave you A warm and home feeling as you can dining leisurely and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Love to re-visit and savour more other selection of dishes that I have not choose.
D. L.
Lovely staff. Great food and drink!
A. C.
Nice coffee and pastries, good atmosphere. Not the cheapest, but cheap coffee is not what you're after!
G. M. L.
Got a table to get a break and we have been served by an Italian guy Ennio, was very nice to have a little chat with him despite the busy shift.
The pastry was excellent and the coffee very tasty.
This is defintely the place to be for a break!
A. G.
Excellent. I visit every time I am in central Oxford. Very tasty wholesome food. Try their onion soup - it is super.
R. C.
Great food, but a bit pricey
H. C.
This place gets five stars for three reasons - 1) coffee and vegan sandwich I got were delicious
2) service incredibly friendly
3) I went in just before closing time and instead of throwing out all the leftover pastries and bread they were making sure to give them to too good to go customers and any leftovers to customers! Big well done on the food waste front ☺️
A. M.
Love the atmosphere, and there was plenty of seating too, with space between tables so you don't feel like sardines. Loved that the large latte arrived in a bowl in true French style. Slightly eye-watering price tag associated with it sadly - only reason I've made it four rather than five stars.
I. S.
Good breakfast: fluffy eggs, salmon, good bread and tasty cappuccino. Prompt service
L. M.
We visited today for brunch and loved it. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious especially the home made bread and there are lots of healthy options on the menu. They do add service charge automatically although it is optional but we didn’t mind as the staff were so great (we always tip good service and in fact gave extra). We hadn’t heard of this place before but will look out for it in future.
N. B.
Lovely coffee. More soft drinks options (especially diet options) would be great, things that aren't fruit filled as water and elderflower were the only options for 1 of our party. Cakes looked amazing so will have to visit again to try!

This cafe came highly recommended by a colleague who is a regular so my family and I decided to come for breakfast last week. My wife's sister is a coeliac and we had a bit of a doubt taking her out to a bakery but we did not regret it. The waitress that served us was very friendly and professional and, liaising with the manager on duty provided outstanding service while dealing with the gluten allergy. She warned us about the cafe being a high gluten environment but took every precaution and care to deliver a delicious and safe meal. My sister-in-law had the lovely granola parfait and a gluten-free brownie, my wife and I a scrambled egg toast each and an almond croissant which was to die for. The coffee was great too. We will definitely be coming back!
A. G. (.
I love this place. The waiting staff are friendly and recognise their regular customers. The menu has a good selection of light meals, brunch type items and pastries. Drinks are generous portions.
They also have a takeaway counter.
K. H.
I rarely give bad reviews unless I feel I have to. I was disappointed by this cafe as the menu looked lovely. The thing i had was essential chicken strips on a salad with bread and didn't taste of very much! However I would have overlooked that if it wasn't for waiting about 30 minutes for my food when my mum and her friend had been given theirs! I had to ask 3 times to get it and had to ask a different waiter to the one that was serving us (I asked the original one twice)
A. O.
Food was good; however, the service was 4/10.
P. C.
Very nice coffee and pastries. A bit more expensive than other coffee houses but you have waiter service and the portions are larger than other coffee houses.
K. P. (.
I love having breakfast here. The menu is continental and the atmosphere relaxing. It's very popular but I've never had issues in getting seated arrival. Situated in the new shopping centre, it's easy to find and inexpensive.
A. B.
The barista Andreea is the most lovely employee here and had great knowledge of all the different items on the menu! Everybody go here to meet Andreea !
A. H.
Just popped in for a couple of macarons to take home.
Took a while to be noticed but then she was very friendly.
The macarons were not very special though and a smidge overpriced.
L. J.
Great coffee and Croissant! Stan was a quick and efficient waiter. Great place to do some uni work
S.
Great, reasonably priced breakfast, with gluten free options (which are hard to come buy). Would definitely visit again for breakfast or lunch.
J. K.
Exceptional food and exceptional service. Well done xx
C. C.
Very nice, but if you like your drinks hot I would suggest you then to be extra hot as our hot chocolate where warm not hot
L. K.
Lovely food very fresh and coffee delirious, staff very friendly but did forget our water
J. L.
Good for a coffee & extremely tasty muffins.
Lunch is good here too.
Sit in window & watch the busy world go by.
Only thing I dont like about it is... their coffee cups.
They have no handles !
They are like large chinese tea cups.
Difficult to hold when full of hot tea or coffee. 😟
c. m.
Just a quick coffee and toast but it was a great cup of coffee decent sized cups. Delicious bread with lots of butter and jam .Lovely bright and airy. Friendly service.
T. L.
Wasn't particularly impressed, the prices are very high and the quality isn't there to justify it. Avoid the lemonade, it could strip paint. If you want to impress a vegan then go ahead but don't expect to be full when you leave. The redeeming factor is the service which is very good and attentive.
V. L.
Very slow on service, too many waiters not knowing what to do... I wanted to suggest an idea but was unsure who to talk to. Nice place and have stopped here before, nice food too.
r. s.
The scone was huge. Good pot of tea
T. t. Q.
Amazing food and what a selection of vegan pastry. I wish you could open a shop in Manchester as it would be a massive hit
A. K.
We waited about an hour for the food, other people came after we did and finished before we were served. Also, the avocado toast was underwhelming.
J. W.
Nice relaxed venue. Good service and great coffee and wine.
A. B.
What a great place, possibly the best scrambled eggs I've ever had, staff were superb too, definitely not my last visit there
D. D.
From personal experience, food was bland and the menu contained only food I've never heard of before which made it difficult to order. Overall, it was ok.
v. m.
Excellent food
We went for a visit to Oxford on a weekend and stopped for lunch here. Lovely food and very fresh food.
R. R.
Very disappointing, overpriced, waffle was a ready-made piece of heated pastry. Chocolate was delicious and service decent, very polite and helpful staff, although altogether giving an impression of a somewhat confused environment.
G. I.
Great for a light lunch or even just for tea. Loads of healthy options.
H. B.
The coffee 10/10 🤍🤍
T. K.
Beautiful interior. Fresh food and top class coffee. Best scone we’ve had in our lives! Thank you :)
C. E.
Lovely, welcoming friendly and efficient. Delicious freshly prepared food. Basic ingredients combined beautifully. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Will definitely come back again
M. T.
Their gluten free bread is amazing! Ended up buying a loaf after having it with my breakfast. Have goon a number of times for breakfast/brunch and they have great variety and plenty of gluten free and vegan options.
c.
I had a wonderful brunch on Sunday. The breakfast bowl was delicious and their croissant was amazing. The waitor named Nilo was very nice and helpful. Great service!
D. P.
Service was ok but slow. Nice hot chocolate. Not too hot, which is good on the go. I think the staff were stressed which didn't benefit the atmosphere. Overall average. Plenty of people seem to like it.
G. R.
A great place to sit and enjoy a relaxed breakfast and coffee before the rigours of shipping at the Westgate.
Sensible coronavirus protection measures in place with well-spaced tables, masked staff and regular cleaning.
S. H.
Very relaxed atmosphere, friendly service and great coffee! Their almond croissants are the best I've ever tried. Will definitely be back!
S. C. (.
Yum veggie bowl and smoothies!
k. n.
Overpriced meals - £13.50 for a small bowl of chicken & bean stew!
T. J.
Clean, friendly staff, tasty food
R. B.
We had a lovely tea & pastry.
C. A.
We love going to this restaurant such friendly staff nothing is a bother , food excellent as is the coffee and teac
E. C.
Great atmosphere, very relaxing and cosy decor! Plus, tasty food and great coffee.
C. H.
Great breakfast here, just wish we'd found it earlier on our Oxford holiday!
P. S.
I ve liked the enviroment but not too many options of meat meals, most of the menu is vegan. Staff very polite and friendly. If youre vegan ill recomend it for you.
e. w.
Lovely place ...Great choice of vegan options
C. S.
Great food, location and customer service. Would definitely come again. My wife loved the coffee and avocado toast too!
J. D.
Excellent coffee, cakes, good for lunch with very good takeaway sandwiches. Artisan bread also available.
M. H.
Great place for a snack and a drink. Nice and cool too and can watch the kids on activity things outside
E. D.
The food (mushroom toast) was alright, but definitely too expensive for what it was. The scone and coffee were underwhelming and the service slow. There are definitely better cafes and bakeries around Oxford.
P. R.
Ceasar salad looked good but only time for coffee. Trendy
F. S.
Great food, amazing coffee and very friendly staff
S. C.
Lovely service, considerate and very polite!! Good and healthy food... A bit on the expensive side but that's the quality and it's location in a shopping mall in the city of Oxford... Worth it though!
S. P.
Busy venue, slow service, French heritage as far as design of cups but a pretty universal taste to the café latte and almond croissant.
R. A.
Food and coffee were nice. Service really started to slide as it got busier though.
N. L.
Lovely food that is prepared on site and worth the slight wait.
d. p.
Great vegan selection. Vegan chocolate cake is delicious! Lovely organic bread with only 4 ingredients (proper bread)
j.
Nice scones and tea. Menu is a little different and definitely worth a look, particularly if you have a preference for organic food.
J. C.
Lovely food, worth a visit.
C. S.
Had a nice lunch here today, had a slight communication issue with a carrot cake but apart from that it was a nice clean place and food was good.
J. D. (.
Had a nice chai soy latte here and also a hibiscus croissant which was delicious
Ν. Α.
Very nice place to have your coffee.
D. H.
Service not great, I didn't expect the waiter to give me the bill then stand there and wait while we sorted out payment between me and my friend. A minute alone would have been appreciated
S. D.
Oh I love this place. Really reasonably priced super healthy food and treats. Comfortable too.
R. R.
Delicious coffees and lunch but service could be better. It took 25 mins for the coffees to come, which is tricky when you've got two wriggling children under 4 with you...
n. m.
Sashi was very nice both times we went. Great service and very friendly.
S. M.
Excellent and unique taste of coffee, delicious sweets.
N. F.
Great food and great service! Would definitely recommend
E. A.
Good place for breakfast, brunch or light lunch. We visited with a baby in a pram and felt welcome with space to park the pram next to our table.
B. R.
Good but not many vegetarian or chicken sandwich option.
P. R.
Lovely fresh food but not cheap! Very helpful staff. Would definitely recommend.
F. E.
Coffee served in a Chinese style rice bowl with no saucer so staff handled the rim of the cups. £5 for a slice of pear frangipane tart!
R. C.
Lovely cafe, efficient service. Biggest scones ever!
J. O.
Great scones, great cupcakes, great coffee and friendly staff :-)
S. N.
The employees are very friendly, and the food and drink isn't bad, just kinda underwhelming. If I were in Westgate looking for a place like this, I'd prefer going to ole and steen
D. P.
What a place! Amazing food and coffee! 5 stars service!
P. C.
Lovely staff and great food for a good price.
A. S.
Excellent. We were well looked after and I felt safe there. All the precautions against COVID were being followed.
L. K.
Great food, never had a bad experience here.
Staff are attentive too, nice touch.
A. A.
Didn't feel the love.
Didn't enjoy the food.
The place maybe good for a cup of coffee due to the location.
L. K.
great vegan selection! friendly and efficient service, definitely one of my favourite places to eat in Oxford

S. L.
Scrambled eggs, bacon and coffee on a Sunday morning....
Just right!
D.
Good and service good. WC facility needs regular cleaning
S. F.
The breakfast pastries are always good, but unfortunately the "crispy" pancetta was more leathery than crispy
U. V.
Broad tables and comfortable seating. The food and coffee is organic. One of my favourite spots.
Y. C.
Better than I thought.
P. G.
love it so good... always table to sit and meals are delicious

Stylish interior with wooden 🪵 tables, quite impressive.
Lemonade was too sour, and eggs too spicy, salad 🥗 had too many croutons 🤷♀️
Prices are also high enough, however food is fresh.

(Translated) Finding a good place abroad where to have breakfast is not easy! This is perfect! You can order everything, of course, both sweet and savory. We ordered a menu where they brought you hot drink, juice, sweet piece and bread and jams. Spending approximately 10 pounds. Of course compared to Italy is a spesona for breakfast but for the stuff that bring you the price there is everything. (Especially counting that if you make breakfast in the hotel tincosta more!) Stra recommended.

Spesa all incirca 10 sterline. Certo rispetto all 'Italia è una spesona per la colazione però per la roba che ti portano il prezzo ci sta tutto. (Sopratutto contando che se fai colazione in hotel tincosta di più!) Stra consigliato.
