The food or the service? I still can’t decide what was better. the dolmes were exquisite and the aubergine dip (#2) with warm bread just amazing. The stew was the right balance of rich and flavourful but the star? The lamb shank you could eat with a spoon it was so soft and tender… top it off with the most pleasant staff, from Massoud on down through the team… as much as I want to try all the options (definitely going to try the other aubergine starter, #1, the baba and yogurt with mint, I cannot see myself getting another main than the 6-star lamb shank. Wow, wow, wow, and thank you!

Absolutely delicious food, fantastic service, clean and comfortable place, ... And very reasonable prices. We've lived in Oxford for nearly 20 years and have been largely underwhelmed by most restaurants here. Shiraz seems to be that rare thing, authentic food, lovingly prepared, and unfussy. We were lucky to have Iranian friend who recommended this dessert, see photo, which reminded me of falooda, but was simpler and utterly delicious.

Was so surprised at how good and juicy the food actually is! I love going to different cities and trying grills, as they all have different tastes, but this place is quite affordable and gives you a good amount of food too; good portion sizes. The staff is very friendly and helpful too, making the experience nicer! The place is not too big, not too small, very cosy. Will definitely go again in the future!

A really nice place, the plates are delicious, although the main dishes are big enough, you should also try the starters. There is wine which is not in the menu. You can ask it to the people working there.

Visited this place in post-pandemic time, when it restarted its activity. The interior is quite simple and cozy. The only thing that reminds you of Iran is a big picture of Persepolis on its wall. There some issues as food came very late (was explained by the fact that new rice had to be made). There were also back end kitchen employees going back and forward all the time carrying various stuff, a bit annoying. The dishes however were really delicious, I liked kebabs and pilaf a lot, tea was amazing. The restaurant had an amazing new administrator Pinar, who tried her best to entertain children and communicate with the guests. So I would send a message to the owner: what is his vision about the restaurant. Does he want it to be a simple canteen for students loving Persian food? Or authentic Persian cuisine restaurant? In the first case you need to increase speed of service and reduce prices. I know a great authentic Persian restaurant in London with similar level of prices. In the second case you need invest in ambiance, atmosphere, correct your food hygiene rating from 4 to 5, so some design. As I said, food taste is really good, so you can do much better.

Me and my friend went to the restaurant. The food worths every minute waiting. It was really fresh and delicious. I would rather visit the restaurant for a meal every two months as student. However the Persian tea ( only £3.99) as shown in picture for two people worth visit on weekends. We really enjoyed this Iranian tea after the meal. And the atmosphere of the restaurant overall so comfortable. You can also go solely or with book.

Came here as my regular spot (Za'atar bake) was closed. I left with a rival favourite. I am emotionally torn between these two restaurants. Amaaaaazing bread and meat. Definitely, order some bread and Hummus to start. The lamb stew was great and all the meat was tender. Definitely get one of the two yoghurt with your meal to keep the juices flowing. Rustom recommends, will be back!

Very easy booking online and the staff was so lovely to tell us their recommendations! Got the lamb shank and some of the stews and they were all divine!! The quantity was very generous and the tea and the doogh (yoghurt drink) was really great drinks as well. Having some dressings on the salad could even make it better but other than this it was a very lovely experience! I also loved how the windows were open and the restaurant was very clean!

Shiraz is an absolute gem. The staff are really friendly and professional. The food is outstanding. My wife and I ordered a mixture of hot and cold starters, including a delicious lentil soup. The mains were a lamb stew and a mix of chicken and lamb kebab served with saffron rice. To end we had Persian tea and a small bit of baclava. Everything was excellent.

One ifthe finest persian cuisine I ever had. The place was nic enad the ambience was very attractive. More like if I was in shiraz actually. I was in Oxford for a week or so and visited the resturant around 4 times just because of the taste and the service quality. I tried many of their kebabs which were good but their best kebab was the one made from minced meat. It was juicy and superb. The chicken and the other kebabs were also nice. Bogholi pulo was the authentic one, light and tasty. We also tried their vegetarian dishes including the one with spinach and the other with aubergine, both were outclass. The service was also very good. The people serving there were lovely and made you comfortable. The only downside I would say was if we sat on the extreme right corner, it was difficult to call the waiters. But that too would not put me off to visit the next time. It is one of the places I would even travel from London to dine in with the family. We'll done and keep it up guys.

This was our third visit to Shiraz. We live on the bus route, so getting there was no problem. As before, the charming Sanaz served us with a smile.This time we decided to try a different meal each. I went for a chicken kebab (Joojeh Kebab) and my wife had Zereshk Polow with chicken. Both meals arrived at the same time after a reasonable wait. The restaurant was quite busy and filled to capacity while we were there. Both meals were up to the expected standard. Sadly, there was only room for a mint tea afterwards. We'll be going again.

DON'T SKIP OUT ON SHIRAZ! My girlfriend and I collected a takeaway order from Shiraz and every part of the experience was flawless. The manager answered the phone promptly, was incredibly friendly and didn't even slightly make fun of us for not being able to pronounce the names of the dishes. After 25 mins we went to collect the food where we met the manager who was even friendlier and more welcoming in person. We were only in the restaurant for only a minute or so but it had fantastic atmosphere and the other members of staff were also lovely. Then we got home and ate the food, which travelled remarkably well, and were not disappointed. The rice was incredibly moist and flavourful; the chicken and lamb were tender and juicy; and the salad was a perfect accompaniment especially the grilled tomato which redefined what I thought a tomato could add to a dish. My only criticism would be that I wished I had some hoummus to utterly perfect it, but if anything this is just a criticism of myself for not having the foresight to order it. Cannot wait to go back and have a meal in the restaurant!

Came here from milton keynes as I wanted persian food i was struggling to find somewhere and everything closes at 10pm 🙄. Amazing food!. I had ghormeh sabzi, the meat was very tender enriched with great flavour. I loved the koobideh too. The staff were very helpful , I didnt catch the mans name who served me but he prevented me from ordering 2 of the same dishes as it would of been too much for the 2 of us. I would really recommend this place if you are looking for a cute authentic evening with delicious food! I'll be back ☝🏼

Lovely meal on a weekday evening in post-lockdown July. Friendly service if not the most professional. Okra and lamb curry was lovely but the lamb kebabs were the best. Grilled fine mince but very moist throughout even after sitting on my plate for at least 10 mins.

This is a wonderful Persian restaurant, and we've tried many! It's also the first in Oxford. Took Gormeh Sabzi and Gheimeh Badenjan, the lamb was tender and delicious and eggplant perfectly good. The saffron rice was excellent. Very friendly staff, would definitely recommend this place.

Fantastic authentic Persian cuisine. The kababs (barg & Ghafghazi especially) are to die for! Oxford was lacking a decent authentic Persian restaurant but not anymore. We shall be ordering (takeaway for now due to the Pandemic disaster) at least once a week and once we have a functional vaccine, we shall be eating there once a week.
