It was a last minute decision based on Google reviews (we searched for vegan food) and we were not disappointed. From the outside it looks more like a cocktail bar and we would have never chosen it for a dinner without reading reviews. It was a truly pleasant surprise. We had a vegan burger, super grain salad and the vegan desert platter and every single element was just perfectly executed by the chef (Jason). The lovely waitress Emma also looked after us very well. Highly recommend this beautiful restaurant serving delicious food in a stunning waterside setting.

Friendly staff, good service. Food nice nothing super-special , but would eat there again; seemed like a good choice of veggie & vegan food (we are not V or VG), I had vegan dish cos i liked the sound of it, tasty but could have done with a bit bigger portion, other meal was chicken satay which was also tasty but possibly a little dry. Reasonable prices, nice atmosphere.

Decor is beautiful inside, well thought out and makes you feel relaxed and in zen mode. The food and drinks here are very good, we ordered the Thai green curry, chicken satay and beef burger which were really tasty and cooked to perfection. The only downside was the sweet potato wedges which were very thick and so not crispy/crunchy. However overall I have to rate this 5 star for the overall experience

Service frim everyone we encountered was fantastic and the building was so beautiful. The cocktails were absolutely top notch and the food we had was also delicious. My burger did come with tomato which wasn't what I'd requested, but our waitress noticed without me even saying and offered to replaced it immediately. And everything else was a 10/10!

Perfection. We will be back before our holiday ends, for sure. The food was excellent, portions generous but reasonable(read: probably nowhere near restaurants average of 1500kcal but still very satisfying and filling), but the best thing was that it was truly full of vegetables. I like to eat healthily and in most restaurants vegetable portions with a main are so sad that I need to get extra sides just to bring it up to 2 maybe 3 portions out of recommended 5 (it should really be more like 7-10 but this is a seperate story). In Bonne Sante I didn't get any extra veggie sides (read: 50g of broc and 100g of carrot for £4 like it is in most restaurants), but still my curry must've had at least 3 if not 4 servings in it and the veggies were also cooked to perfection, not just an afterthought. The service was great, atmosphere pleasant, value for money great (we had 2 for £16 plus extra prawns and chicken as well as a mezze starter to share). I honestly couldn't wish for more.

Drinks and food were both good value. Food was tasty with decent portion sizes. For such a lovely place it could have done with a bit of a buzz and atmosphere - but it was midweek. The only real niggle was that one of our party had a bit of a wait for their pizza to arrive after the rest of us had been served. Second time dining there and I am sure we will be back again soon.

A beautiful restaurant at a lovely location on the Barbican. We indulged in the bottomless supper. The mains were delicious, we all had something different and all were enjoyed. I small mark down for the dessert board element as it was tiny and bits were missing. Special shout out to our waitress Shannon. She was knowledgeable and friendly throughout, even though it was a busy evening (the night of the England match). She made us laugh, and really added to our experience.

Had a great meal here. The pizza was delicious. We also had vegan burger which was equally delicious. Good selection of dairy free/vegan dishes. Topped off with a tasty dairy free chocolate brownie, ice cream and blueberries. Well worth a visit. You can take dogs into the outdoor area.

Definitely visit again. Very Good, nicely set out, nice staff, good menu and reasonable prices (great if you can get the meal deal 2 for £16.50) I had the Satay, it was nice, full of veggies but didn't think it was very satay-ish, it could have done with some peanut butter and more coconut milk. Also as the menu is quite healthy with lots of fresh veg in every dish, it's a real shame that there is only option of white noodles some brown rice noodles would make it a much healthier options; a lot of people would eat here as a healthy option and when trying to be healthy they generally wouldn't eat white refined foods and it's a shame that gluten free options always tend to be white refined.

Absolutely incredible food and service!! My brother has Coeliac Disease and most of the menu is already gluten free! 100/10 for the extensive gluten free options AND for the unbelievably good food. I recommend the red curry and Japanese lemonade.

Booked the bottomess dinner for an evening out with a friend. The venue is lovely, food is fantastic, menu for the bottomless isn't great, and the service during the last 45 mins was very slow. The waitress came over to let us know we had 30 minutes left however was no where to be seen during this time so we could not order more drinks.

Visited Bonne Sante for the first time for lunch, after seeing it come up on Trip advisor! Man on the door was very friendly, asked us how our day was and where we had come from! We were sat near the bar area, it is very noisy so do not recommend for children or anyone who want to chat with many others. I ordered the chicken satay noodles which were extremely tasty and fresh. My friend had a chicken burger and chips that she said was also delicious. The lunch deal is great value for money, 2 mains for £16.95. Unfortunately we were overcharged and payed for both. But didn’t realise till we got home. So I wrote a review to Bonne Sante, and the next day I had a phone call offering me a voucher for the next time I visit ⭐️ We will definitely be back again ☺️

Been there twice now. It's situated in a fantastic old building with bags of character. It used to be the Custom House. They are still putting the finishing touches to what is going to be a cocktail bar area and also to the courtyard which is quite impressive but cold this time of year. But they are installing heaters!!. Both visits we have had breakfast and it is delicious and a bit different from other bistros. Strangely you have to order at the bar. We had poached eggs on sweet potato slices which was very tasty. It's a good option for those who are gluten free, as my wife is, because most places just don't do decent gluten free bread. It's not cheap and the extra sides were not really big portions or value for money. We sat outside in the sun and it was all quite perfect. Not the best of views but it is a good location on the edge of the historic Barbican area of Plymouth. Well worth a visit.

'Bonne Santé' means 'Good Health' and that is indeed at the core of their very good food. The menu caters for vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and dairy free. Located on the Plymouth Barbican with lovely views and relaxing ambience, Bonne Santé has excelled in offering a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Our choices from the menus were everything we hoped for and more. Portion sizes were just right, well presented and each mouthful revealed a multitude of flavours and textures. The staff who waited on us, including the director Luke Lauri, were all polite, very helpful and attentive. Definitely going back there again.

I came here with a friend. I have been here once before a long time ago for breakfast pre-pandemic. The food was really good and presented amazingly. I had a burger and sweet potato wedges. There was also a promotion on the pricing for Eat Out to Help Out so the price point given the quality of the food was amazing. Also if you're vegetarian or vegan most of their menu items can accommodate. They also have gluten free. The only thing that let the side down a bit on this visit was the host/greeter wasn't overly welcoming or friendly. Also I'd booked a particular table to be close to a radiator as it was a super cold & wet day but the table we were given wasn't what I'd been told we were getting - it wasn't by a wall or radiator at all. The service was also pretty slow even just to get a drink order in & there were a couple of other things I'd wanted to ask for when the food was out but the waitress wasnt around our area much and by the time she was I'd finished my meal. It could be they were just busy. I would come back here as the food is worth it. Id recommend this place to friends and family. Better for adults.

This place is amazing! The free from options are limitless and the food delicious. It was so good to find somewhere that cater for our needs so well without any issue whatsoever. James our waiter was attentive and friendly, we found him to be perfectly spot on and also the other staff that dealt with us were also really nice and so helpful.The place was beautiful inside too, even the loo's are first class! We are all going to be making this a regular spot. Absolutely reccommending this to anyone gluten free, dairy free, vegan or if you just like good healthy food and amazing cocktails and mocktails! This is a great restaurant. Food is absolutely delicious, service impeccable and food is brought to the table quickly despite the restaurant being extremely busy. What l didn't like was the overall atmosphere, extremely noisy,so much so that you can barely hear the person you're dining with. Another downside for me is the location the lavatory and the nightmarish stairs leading to it. The lavatory is actually outside of the restaurant,on the second floor and the stairs leading to it are spiraled and with a generous gap in between so it is easy to see the ground below the stairs.Not great for those who have a fear of heights as they can easily get dizzy. Despite that, I really think this is a great place because the food is absolutely amazing and that's why I visited and that's what is really important when analysing a restaurant.l had a burger and fries and I can definitely say it was the best burger l ever tasted. The fries were also freshly made and sprinkled with some middle eastern spice.Absolutely delicious. Lastly I have to mention just how crunchy the fries were, absolutely loved the food. A pro for this place as it makes its burgers in-house. If you're looking for a great place to eat in the Barbican area you should visit this place,l am sure you'll not regret it

It was really nice of the owner to squeeze us in last minute as we were visiting from Birmingham. Decor is spot on and welcoming atmosphere! I would definitely return if I am ever in Plymouth. Visited this place again today for my dad's birthday as he really enjoyed the food when we visited last month. Today was a total let down. First, we waited over an hour for our food, then the waitress dropped it all over the floor. Now I know accidents happen, but there was no communication that it was our food that went splat. I had to ask when we noticed other customers who ordered after us being served their food. When the food did arrive it was luke warm. And then we asked for the dessert menu, we weren't told that anything on the menu wasn't available, guess what, the cheesecake we ordered they had sold out of the night before. That coupled with me having to go a move the car, because I'd put two hours on the car. Plenty of time you'd think! The manager did give us 20% off the bill as an apology. Its a shame because previous visits have been good and the food is really good here especially if you have someone who is gluten free. We will consider alternative venues now.

Very tasty food and friendly staff as well. A good variety of options on the menu, but not too many, all really tasty. Staff were really helpful and the venue is pretty, lots of spaces and a courtyard hidden away. Only downside is I'm not sure how they cope with wheelchair access as there are stone steps right outside and I couldn't see a ramp. Also toilets are upstairs, I don't think they have a downstairs toilet, but I think you can use the establishment next door if required.

Bonne Sante is a really good restaurant and an absolute must if you're a Coeliac/have a gluten allergy. The menu is "GF as standard" (but beware the below note!) and its really good. Good portion sizes and dishes that are really well executed. My son is our Coeliac and describes the Margarita pizza as being "one of the best he's ever had". I had the Garden pizza which really was delicious. Worth noting a strange anomaly on the menu that doesn't tie in with the GF vibe as the vegan burger contains gluten. I really think they should review this as if you're a vegan Coeliac you're options are going to be really limited menu wise. Wide selection of drinks and cocktails. The Japanese Lemonade is a must, you won't regret it. Service is generally good but we did experience some odd moments when we were asked if we'd finished eating when we were clearly still eating, although we did all laugh that off! Then everything just really slowed down when we finished - we were left with empty plates for about 15/20 minutes, waited to order coffees for another 15/20 minutes and had to go and request some service. This was a bit frustrating/disappointing but the chap behind the bar was genuinely apologetic about it. Overall we really enjoyed our visit and would recommend to others.

Then we asked for more bread for a mezze plate we ordered (and paid in advance in the counter) and we were told “let me ask the chef” , never got a reply or more bread, oh yeah at the end of our meal we got the 1 slice of toast… never coming back.

The cocktails here are so good and comparatively cheap. We popped in for 1 cocktail; espresso martini livener and ended up staying for 4 more! Bon Sante is very much Covid and gluten friendly. The food was possibly some of the best we have ever eaten. We ordered pizza, noodles and a chocolate brownie. Wow is all I could say.... Both times I've been there it's been amazing. The service is just as wonderful as the food and the restaurant itself, they have put so much attention to the little details. The biggest star is definitely the food, Bonne Santé caters for everyone (glutten free, vegetarian, and vegan items feature on the menu) and the meal is more guilt-free than in your normal restaurant without compromising flavour and price.

Some great vegan options! Most I've seen in a non-exclusively-vegan restaurant. I had the Yellow Curry, it was so so tasty, really delicious. Really wanna return and try the oat burger. Not to mention the fantastic range of cocktails available, the gymstar and rose blossom are firm favourites and we will certainly be returning, brunch next week and I’m having the steak strips on sweet potato toast... with protein pancakes for dessert. Our drinks order arrived after the food, apparently the barman was a perfectionist... not sure how much time it takes to pour 2 beers and 2 cocktails but I don't believe it would take over 40 minutes, which is what we waited. One meal was dropped on the floor (understand accidents happen) so we ended up eating at separate times. Although we thought the food was quite tasty there wasn't really enough of it. And when it came to asking for the bill the was no one around to ask. Also... please get rid of the fake plants. It's cheapens the place and real plants would be much nicer.
