Good variety of food for a buffet. I have been visiting this place since 2017 and it is lovely to see that the interiors have been upgraded along with the Menu. Good value for money in terms of the quality of food. It’s an all you can eat buffet and the location is very family friendly. Although staff are not that friendly - something that has not improved at all over the years! Make sure to make a booking beforehand as it can get busy sometimes!

We were a walk in off the street and were seated quickly. Drinks we had to pay for at the bar when we arrived along with the menu option selected. Food was your standard buffet. Good selection of your standard dishes. Food was hot, tables and cutlery were clean. Dessert was good, they had ice cream machine with old school sauces. Staff were friendly too

Nice relaxed atmosphere to dine in. We never felt pressured to leave. The staff are really nice, very polite and helpful. Food continually supplied, nothing running out. While I have plenty of family memories from here, it's never been a place I've ever considered particularly authentic. But then again that's not really why any of us have gone there or continue to go is it? After being away for 12 months I got taken there because of nostalgia, and while it's changed and on the surface and looks 'better' it's really the same with fewer dishes. I'm not complaining, it is what it is.

Budget chain. Pros: the food is constantly re-stocked in small portions so it's not sat there for ages going cold.... And of course the price, all you can eat on a budget. The cons: it's budget high volume food chain. there are some standout dishes but most are let down by ingredients to match a budget. The decor is terrible and run down and it's completely open,, it's almost like a school canteen.

We came. We saw. We conquered. It started off strong. 3 full plates, 3 empty bellies. We were here to consume, and nothing could stand in our way. The second round came, our pace had dropped but our resolved hadn't even begun to be tested. Our plates towered high, salt and pepper chicken defying the laws of physics as they balanced on top a mountain of fried goods. The third round began, one of us 'chickened' out, played it safe with the soup. The other two held thier own and packed on another plateful of Chinese delicacies. The water was running low and our bellies were feeling the strain. Next up, the grand finale. Cubes of jelly, pastries galore and enough Mr Whippy to fill an Olympic sized pool. We had our work cut out for us, but we prevailed. The sweet treats barely touched the sides as we got a second wind of motivation. It was done. We won.

Love buffet city! The staff are always so friendly and the atmosphere is always pleasant. Even with the changes due to Covid controls measures, such as having table service rather than self serve and booking in advance, I still enjoyed my meal and would 100% recommended to anyone else.

Buffet city, A Chinese buffet style restaurant where the buffet starting at 7 pounds. As a Chinese food lover, i am very happy about the lunch buffet i had. They had around 30 dishes on the display which are as follow, Soup : sweet corn soup & hot and sour soup, Staters (almost 10-15) items : chicken balls, prawn crackers, chicken wings, fries, crispy chilly chicken, lemon chicken, chicken on stick, mix vegetables, ... Sauce and gravy type : curry chicken and mushroom, curry sauce, sweet sauce... Main course : pan cakes, Singaporean rice noodles, plain chow mien, spl mixed fried rice, Egg fried rice. Dessert: cut fruit, jelly, serradura, ice cream (a fresh made) All food served hot, quantity maintained appropriate, moderate crowd, nice ambiance to have a family buffet... Taste of food can be even more better, overall its good....

Hadn't visited buffet city in years so our visit yesterday was a better experience than our last. The decor is much better but the food needs much improvement. Not a massive choice compared to other that have been in the area. Some food was soggy and others were dry. Very similar sauces for many dishes, sweet and sour, satay or black bean. The crab claws are the best and thankfully had those. Desert choices are very limited and could be much better. Found it pricey for the choice. Found hair on 2 separate occasions when picking food but with it being a buffet style I could only assume it was from a customer. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Just needs food quality and choices to be much better.

I wasn't sure I'd get in because of the steps at the front door, but they directed me to a side entrance. Inside it was fully wheelchair accessible. I'm vegetarian, my sister eats meat and we both really enjoyed our meals. We'll definitely come back.

Ideal informal dining to let the youngster try out various dishes. He loved being able to select a number of dishes and serve his own ice cream for dessert. Staff were attentive and regularly cleared tables. Food represented good value for money and fresh hot food was constantly being brought from the kitchen.

Nice enough place. Very friendly staff but the rules are strict and in my opinion unnecessary. £5 just for having food left on your plate at a buffet place creates unnecessary stress to eat everything even food you might want to try but not necessarily enjoy. The food was also mostly overcooked tough chewy and there wasn't a lot of selection. Atmosphere was nice and as I said the staff were very polite which is the only reason it's getting 3 stars not two. If it were cheaper I'd give more stars but definitely not a 5 star buffet place with high price and low quality food.

Ill admit i was slightly put off as the reviews are so heavily mixed however being new to the area i thought id bite a bullet and give it a go. And wow im glad i did! for the amazing price of around £10 or so i remember (as well as my student discount - they also offer blue light etc) There is a huge selection of oriental dishes to which you can pick and choose from as much as you like! granted, the food is not 5 star blow you away quality - you certainly get what you pay for! The food was hot and fresh, nothing cold or chewy etc... i was pleasantly surprised and will be coming back soon! the setting is cosy and comfortable and the seats are spacious. In addition they are rather covid safe i.e. masks when collecting food, distanced tables, and screens between tables. All in all an amazing experience!

The food is decent, but I think the staff are a bit rude. Some staff sound like they don't really want to be there, they seem to say things like they're really annoyed. It also feels like they stand over you & watch you eat, the second you put your cutlery down, they're there to take your plate.

Seriously underwhelmed. When you first walk up to the buffet counters the selection looks quite good. But once you start lifting the lids you're greeted with lots of things that look very similar, lots of carby fillers like noodles and chips and very liquidy sauces. What I did eat tasted okay, but nothing special at all. For £8.55 there should be a much wider selection of dishes available, there are other buffets where I've paid less but had way more to choose from. Always fun to have a Whippy Ice cream with some jelly chunks though, even at 39! The place has definitely got worse since I last visited with much less choice, pretty bland food and the decor looks tired as well. Not likely to visit again anytime soon.

Post-Covid restrictions being lifted: You pay upfront. Not sure if they had problems with people not paying. Self service is back and the food is same good quality (I enjoyed the table service but must've been hard work for the staff, who were always excellent nevertheless). The space where the food is has been reduced so it's a bit "cosy" and takes a while to get round when it's busy. Bring a mask as they still insist on people wearing one when walking about the restaurant but this is one environment (people hovering over the buffet) which definitely benefits from this, so was happy to oblige.

I've eaten here quite a few times over the past few years and for good reason. The buffet is greatly priced, the food is good not delicious obviously but still good. Based at the top of royal parade just off the roundabout. Greeted quite pleasantly by staff seating was easy as there is plenty of it. The selection of food on offer was very good as it was the lunch time sitting. If you like Asian food you will like it here. You didn't feel at all rushed like I have felt in other places. My drink was served quickly so I relaxed a bit before eating. There is a small selection of desserts if your not already full lol. But what stood out for me today was the way the staff looked after the elderly people. They were looked after in every way. And I have total respect for the staff for doing this. They are a credit to the owners.in fact I'm changing from 4 stars to 5 ,because of this. I highly recommend this place for a visit. Thank you

my partner and I visited this restaurant last night, and we were pleasantly surprised, the staff were absolutely wonderful, they made sure we were comfortable and that we were happy with our seats (especially as I am heavily pregnant so was offered to sit closer to the window or toilet if need be, also that help would be given if need be, and just generally making sure my well being was good) The food is as you would expect from a buffet for £10, although very enjoyable. The staff are very friendly, the service is fast, the food is constantly replaced, the atmosphere is wonderful and the decor is lovely. Would absolutely go again, thank you to all the staff who do a wonderful job.

Not as good as it used be. New restrictions mean having to stay seated and order 5 items at a time to be brought to you, but even with the restrictions, that wasn't what brought the place down... It was the food.. It just wasn't very nice, just bland and very greasy, even the Pepsi just didn't taste right.. It tasted 'dirty' which is the only word I can think to accurately describe it. But the staff are always very friendly and polite just a shame about the food quality. Not somewhere I will go again.

Popped in for lunch today. They have COVID restrictions in place and I think they’re doing the very best they can in such a difficult situation. It was table service only, staff were friendly and helpful. BUT...the food itself was mediocre at best. Very little flavour-really quite bland. I used to frequent another buffet style Chinese restaurant nearby which has unfortunately closed. This place is nowhere near as good. Probably won’t go again.

All you can eat. They should have said mediocre food you can eat forever. The meat was dry, I had a slight stomach ache afterwards, often the food would be cold by the time i had finished eating something else on my plate, this standard of food is ok for a person cooking for themselves, but for paying people in a restaurant at £10.50, i could get a much more satisfying meal, no stomach ache or sluggishness, and better quality for a lower price at a greasy spoon cafe. I wouldn't be surprised if the food I was being served had been under a lamp for several hours, if not since the morning. My advise, avoid the mollusks, meat, and on no account try the soup, it tastes of metal.

Just back from a really scrumptious dinner there with my husband and 7 year old. The staff are really friendly and let my son pick out table. The choice of foods was brilliant... And the dishes actually tasted like what they should have been! The sweet and sour chicken was to die for as was the roast duck. My husband was obsessed by the Thai pork and my son loved making his own duck pancakes. There was a great choice of puddings and ice creams and the fresh fruit was tasty..... My son went up for third helpings of fruit with chocolate from the chocolate fountain. This is definitely our favourite buffet in Plymouth now 🙂

Passable but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go there again. We got there at 7.30 on a Sunday evening and it was empty... so the food was cold. Eventually they started topping up and the dishes were lukewarm so meh. The oysters were really good. Chicken was bland. Prawns and crab were okay. Ice cream was meh. The red house wine was good and the price on it was good. They don’t do cocktails. They don’t have a sushi bar like Sizall. They don’t even take American Express 🤦🏻‍♀️ there are a few options of food but limited. Quite small. overall quite meh but you get what you pay for I suppose.

Buffet City was the original "all you can eat" restaurant in Plymouth. The food range is massive with almost every Chinese food you can think of. It is served almost school dinner style; on hot plates. It is like a Chinese version of McDonald's. If you are coming here expecting cuisine Chinese you will be disappointed. The food is very nice but it is a case of stack them high sell it cheap. Prices are excellent and represent excellent value for money. However, they certainly make their money on drinks, a pint of soft drink costs a lot. Service is almost non existent. I'm never sure if staff don't want to engage much or if they don't speak English. Nevertheless, if you're after a cheap meal out, this is a good choice.

Wouldn't recommend going mid afternoon.we went at around 2pm. Food felt tough and as if it had been sat there for ages.which probably had. The other negative was the desserts. Chocolate fountain switched off!!! Only on in the evening. Ice cream had no little additions...not even a sprinkle in sight. Toilets down 2 flights of stairs so bear that in mind.positives...central location, nice and cheap and lovely staff!! We were a bit dissapointed, but evenings may be better.

Still sat in buffet city writing this can’t thank the staff enough sat down to eat my lovely food to find my drink already sat on the tale... I decided to have a sip and spilt it everywhere! A staff member called Jordan helped me and my partner to another table cleaned up my mess and refilled my drink 5 star service from Jordan who deserves recognition from the boss for sure!!

Food was really tasty and for the price you cant't go wrong with this place. It would be even better if staff spoken English a bit better but we worked around it and the visit was very enjoyable. Plenty of food choices and that includes beef, chicken, pork, noodles, rice, sea food, ice cream, fruit and jelly plus a marshmallows and a chocolate fountain.

I have been here many times. I like to have 2 soup starters, 1 mixed veg course and a mainly meat and protein course. My friends have a desert I normally finish off with another round of soup. When we get up to pay I sometimes have another bowl of soup for the journey from our table to the till. Sometimes I use contactless payment but if I have cash on me I use that. Ask my brother if I have ice in my pint of Diet Coke? HA HA HA HA! Know what I mean?
