Amazing food with a great view out in to the water, and both indoor and outdoor terrace seating. The staff were very polite, patient and accomidating to our parties needs and dietary requirements. I recommend booking in advance by giving them a call if you have a table of more than 2, aswell as if you want to sit outside.

Quite charming place. Down below the pier, outdoor tables, great views when the sun is out. Cold evening sun in winter. Great if the sun is out. Spanish menu with lots of plates to share with a good wine or beer. Wrap warm thou. Upstairs they have their ice cream and coffee shop, above the pier. Again, great views.

Really gone downhill. Have been here many times before covid, always enjoyed it. Went last week and was really disappointed. Service was ok, not that attentive, bit the food was not great. Had bread and olives, no olive oil/balsamic or butter. Had to ask for olive oil, got it but no balsamic. No salt and pepper until we asked for it. Tapas seemed reheated as cold on the outside but boiling in parts. Just not as good as it used to be. Sorry guys but you need to up your game

Location location location. Sadly the food was mediocre and not a good reflection of the culinary wealth which Spain has to offer. The menu was reduced due to Covid but that is no excuse for albondigas which could have been used as cannonballs or garlic prawns marinating in chunks of raw garlic, or indeed stodgy croquettes. Staff were lovely however and we felt very safe and welcome.

What a lovely place! We were there at a very quiet time, so don't know what service is like on a busy night, but for us it was certainly perfect for us! The views are awesome and the food is even better 😀 3 dishes each provided us with a generous lunch, including a bit odd dessert, as the fig and ghost cheese packed were more sweet than savory. All six dishes were absolutely delicious, but the absolute best bits were the chorizo and the prawns. Very highly recommend this place for food, service and location.

Absolutely amazing place went for the first time tonight and all the food we had was delicious. Staff were friendly and welcoming and always there when you wanted something. Five of us had a family lunch here today and it was lovely. The staff are super friendly and efficient. The food is simply delicious. The prices are great value(3 dishes for £15) and quite large for tapas. The view from the restaurant out over the bay is stunning, it felt like we were on holiday. I really can't reccomed this place enough, we will definitely be back.

You only have to look at the photos to see why this Spanish themed bar/restaurant is so special. You are literally yards away from the waters of Plymouth Sound with stunning views. A shared trio of tapas with a cappuccino was splendid. Garlic mushrooms in a creamy white wine sauce, a nice tortilla and patatas with aioli. No puedes golpearlo con un gran palo. You could sit on the terrace in the sun and read my book "Professor Harry Parker and the Tunnels of Argonaut Bay" by Steve Pick available on Amazon Kindle.

We had the most amazing tapas here today - great selection of plates, our favourites were the aubergine and the meatballs, but everything was truly excellent. Lovely wine selection as well, and the staff were welcoming and helpful. Only thing - please look at making the entrance more accessible! I had lunch here yesterday with my son and daughter-in-law. This was our first visit but it certainly won’t be our last. We sat upstairs, it was very cosy. We offered 3 tapas dishes each to share. First time here and was a little wary of the negative reviews, but boy were they proved wrong. The food was delicious, portions just perfect and all clearly freshly cooked and all in a nice ambience with great views. Food arrived quickly too although it wasn’t too busy despite a Friday evening. Excellent value too, especially with the current discounts. Starters & drinks for two plus 5 dishes which were plenty for only £40. Staff friendly and loos very clean. I won’t even let the single prawn in my paella tinge my experience!

Amazing food with beautiful views. Great variety on the menu catering for all tastes. Food changes with the seasons so you don't get bored. Good value for money. Quick service with friendly staff. It can be busy so if it's a special occasion I would ring ahead / book a table, though we have always been able to squeeze in a table for two. Just as nice for a quick bite at lunchtime as it is for an evening meal. Authentic cuisine, a favourite we will return to again.

When visiting Phymonth for the first time we had a pleasure to dinner in this little restaurant. The view is amazing, the garlic bread an marinate chicken breast were the best I've ever had! Could not stop eating!

The food is very good here, it is cooked well and it tastes good as well. In terms of portion size, the portion sizes are quite large for tapas so it is worth bearing that in mind. The prices are not too bad and the service is good. This is a great place to come if you enjoy a view when dining as it looks right out over Plymouth Sound and towards Drake's Island.

Usually a lovely atmosphere here but not so good until I asked them to change the music. You would think being a Spanish tapas bar that's what they would play !! Just had a nice mix of the small plates. Got to agree the Chorizo in red wine and honey was a winner that went really well with the Tempranillo wine. One tip, book in advance and be prepared to pay a deposit if you want to sit outside.

The Tomato and Cheese starter was quite delicious, the chicken main was nice but the sauce was quite rich for my taste. Relatively good value for money, the dishes were a little small. Good selection of drinks and desserts. Overall a nice meal, lovely location looking out at the sea, I’d recommend going at daylight as at night we could only see the flashing boat lights!

Lovely location on the sea front and we were lucky enough to get a table at the front overlooking the sea. Very cramped however with far too many tables crammed into the balcony. You couldn't hear your self talk over the chatter of your neighbours. Food tasty but a little expensive for what you got and it would be nice to get more bread with your meal. Being Spanish myself I find the tapas to be really decent. And they have a good selection of wine. The view is stunning, so when it's nice and sunny you really feel like you're abroad. The downside is that I have never known a genuine tapas place to not serve olive oil or bread for free as a standard side with your tapas dishes. And when you ask for it, they charge you. And the olive oil doesn't even come in a jug. Just a tiny little bowl usually used for tomato sauce. What a liberty. Other than that I would recommend it, purely for the view.

Having lived in Spain for 12 years in the past I was pleased to find an authentic Spanish restaurant serving great tapas and other famous dishes. Even some Spanish staff and great setting overlooking the whole of the Plymouth Sound. I also regularly visit the "coffee shack" above the Maritimo and the same owner, for snacks and a great coffee in a spectacular spot.

Why 5 starts? Well im not an expert, but the atmosphere there is great (at least when me and my partner went there). We sat opposite each other at a small table, with a panoramic view across the ocean. The serving was fast, and the waitress very approachable. We sad down for about 2 hours and enjoyed a 3 course meal, coffees, and we paid under £40. The restaurant is on two levels, with the ground floor having a deck outside. Dont be fooled by the creepy entrance, once you're inside you will change your mind. The menu is alright, not huge, but enough. They serve more fish, but you can still order pork, chicken. There is a car park right on the main street. Hope this heps :)

Menu has changed since my last visit but this hasn't diminished the variety of dishes. Honey added to choirzo is a revelation and delicious while the lemon and chicken chorizo was stunning. My family of 8 chose different dishes, doubling up on a couple of favourites, and each was a taste revelation of its own. Would recommend Maritimo for all and you won't be disappointed. 10/10.

I would probably give it a 2 or 3 really but I don't want to bring the average rating down because it's just not my type of food. That's a personal opinion rather than a problem with their food. The quality of food was good I just am not into the whole tapas thing nor am I into sharing. I only went because i had to but everybody who is into that kind of thing really enjoyed it.

The food was lovely. However the full menu was not on and so that threw us when ordering. There were no mains available, just tapas. We ordered 7 dishes but only 6 came out and one wasn't what we ordered. We realised we were missing one and so asked for it but the other one we just kept quiet as it was nice. I didn't feel like the staff were overly helpful and they were stood together by the bar chatting rather loudly when we were eating. The food was lovely......just think you need some one in charge to ensure staff aren't stood around. Not once were we asked if everything was ok or if we needed another drink.....I don't know if there was a desert menu as we weren't offered one. This place could be phenomoninal but your staff let you down!!!!

Great service , brilliant value . Not a lot more you can say about this little gem. I personally use the top cafe , where you can get various quick hot snacks and drinks . The staff are always happy and friendly and the quality of food matches the quality of staff which frankly is great . Well worth the stop , no frills but honestly pretty spot on .

Hard to tell it's there from the road side except for the Spanish flag flying but when you go around the back of the ice cream coffee hut & down the stairs you find a nice little place across 2 floors with excellent views across the bay. We turned up on spec around 8pm on Saturday night and got the last 2 places so booking may be advisable at weekends. The staff are friendly and attentive, the wine list is reasonable and they have a couple of decent looking draft beers. The food was really very good. We had bread and olives with an oil and balsamic dip while we sipped white Rioja & decided what to order and they were excellent. Always encouraging when the simple basic things are right. The tapas was similarly very good with the chicken marinaded in Spanish herbs and the potatos bravados (I think it was called) being the stars. The tiger prawns in chilli & garlic were good but lacked pizzaz, the mushrooms in cream and garlic and the strips of beef in red wine sauce similarly very acceptable but just lacking a spark. The hot chocolate pudding with ice cream was rather good too. I would put this high on the list of places to eat in Plymouth, quirky & different from the run of rhe mill chain Italian Pizza places with good food, a great atmosphere and excellent views.

Fabulous views out over Plymouth Sound. Food is cooked fresh every time using fresh ingredients. Order as little or as much as you like and then order more when yr ready. Atmosphere is very romatic with Spanish music playing in the background at just the right level not to overpower any conversation. Its a small and cosy restaurant that is laid out well so as not to feel crammed in. Seating outside on a hot summer's day or evening is a must if you can get a table. Good value, very friendly efficient staff, clean & well worth a visit.

We have been today and I always ate good in this place. Price have gone tremendously up I believe, 9 pound for 20grams of octopus and half boiled potatoes?? I mean seriously you could double the portion and lower the price and still earn a lot believe me..otherwise change supplier if it is expensive. 9pound is the price that I pay per kilo in Morrisons. That literaly was 20 grams..sorry to have seen that. We have been disappointed, as you always have a really good food.

My Friend Andy Facy who lives on Plymouth Hoe said he would take us to Maritimo Spanish tapas restaurant as it was his favourite, and just a five minute walk from home. Situated on the sea front it has a prime location. He went there for his birthday and said e was deeply disappointed as the service and food was awful, nothing like it had been. He mentioned this to the manager and he apologised saying he would make sure it was better next time and would put a good bottle of red wine on the table. On 22nd July Andy took both my wife and I to Maritimo as we had lived in Spain for 9 years and knew what good tapas was like. He had pre=booked a table for 1900 and when we arrived asked if we could have a prime table on the lower section to which the waitress replied its fully booked. Mistake number one for someone you want to encourage back to your restaurant. We were seated in the upper section and were served by a delightful Spanish lady, who was both polite and efficient in her service and I was pleased to be able to practice my Spanish with her. We ordered 12 dishes in all and they were delicious, my only criticism was with a few dishes there were only two portions and there were three of us at the table. The bottle of complementary wine provided was the cheapest on the menu and was just OK, so I ordered a more expensive Rioja Reserve at £25. Did we enjoy our meal, well yes and it was greatly helped by the lovely Spanish waitress. I would go there again but would hope things were tightened up on food and service and attention to detail
