Excellent all-day breakfast for carnivores (see photo, front plate) and vegetarians (rear plate). Special today was the passion fruit and lemon iced tea (see photo), a great choice. Hoping the new Early Bird cafe in Plymouth city centre will be as good as this one when it opens later this summer

Lovely atmosphere and staff were delightful. It gets very busy and there's not alot of seating so expect a que unless you get there early. We were seated after waiting for 2 minutes, and drinks were made fast, food was at our table within 20 minutes of ordering. I was able to order desert after but i got it to go as I felt bad for the people waiting outside looking through the window. But nice that they provided umbrellas for the customers waiting outside. :)

Today I visited the Early Bird for the first time. I was so excited to go there because I heard good things about this place and I have always seen this restaurant very full and the queues were long to get in there. When I went there with my friend the staff member approached us very quickly and found the seats for us. We have ordered pina colada pancakes and vanila roasted peaches pancakes. When we recieved the pancakes, the very looking beautiful however, the taste was not that good. The pancakes were very heavy and had floury taste. I was expecting nice and fluffy pancakes. Morever, they were very dry as they just had a drizzle of raspbery sauce and a blob of cream. The pancakes of my friend had same texture, and they were covered with lemon sauce that was very sour and had a very artificial taste. If I would come next time for sure I would order something savoury.

We had a super good brunch, and then went to the café at the back for a couple of amazing brownies to take home. Everything was fantastic, I want to go back and try everything! The only thing to be careful of is that it's very small and you are likely to have to wait for a seat if you're eating in.

Blown away! Went for breakfast with friends and had a full vegan breakfast with one of the best vegan milkshakes I have ever tried. It was also fairly cheap, especially for somewhere in a city. For example, 6 brownie-cookies for £15. I would recommend getting there early to avoid the long queues, as it is very popular at the moment.

Beautiful Brunch with a gorgeous selection of Brownies and Pastries to take away as well as fresh loaves of bread. We’d come in at the right time as they were starting to take names for tables as they were getting busy for the lunch time rush. I would honestly visit again - their gingerbread lattes are the bomb!

Food was delicious, one man adjacent loudly exclaimed “BOOTIFUL” after finishing his meal, and it was served fast! Highly recommend the Benedict with an extra hash brown. We were seated promptly (+ given a choice for where we could sit, before it quickly filled up) and this service was consistent for every customer that arrived in the time we were there. Staff were friendly and overall, there was a great atmosphere.

Great food. One if the best breakfast places in Plymouth. The Benedict eggs are cooked perfectly. The sourdough bread is great. The fungi dish is amazing. Highly recommended. Also, try all the sausage rolls. The chorizo and halloumi is really good.

Great little spot for picking up an insanely rich brownie or a shortbread the size of an infant child. Lunch here is pricey but generally well portioned and tasty. All bread & bagels for sandwiches is hoemmmade and very hearty. I'd recommend sitting outside with a coffee on a warm day.

Lovely breakfast with a friend, good range of choices. As a non vegan, I tried the vegan breakfast (replaced scrambled tofu with fried eggs) and found it very tasty. Only downside is if you're a large group it's hit and miss to waiting times as no table bookings taken.

From a visually impaired persons pint of view the coffee cup and menu are not practical. The staff were so friendly. It's always so busy in there so go in on the way back from home (eat in). Not all the breakfast was hot. The toast tasted like a crumpet. They changed my yaost which I appreciated but still couldn't eat the thing. This place is a 2+ people type of place, personaly I felt uncomfortable on my own. It's so loud and a bit expensive so my liking. The coffee I couldn't taste it. I would recommend them to leave the napkins on the table as you always need backups. Honestly sad to say I don't think I will be back.

We only had to wait for 10 mins for a table on a busy Saturday morning which we were grateful of. It felt were clean and safe. Super efficient service paying when we ordered. Super tasty Brunch, loving the smashed Avo & Poached egg. Shame there is only 1 toilet so a bit of a wait, but loving the smellies in there! My favorite place to Brunch with the girls! **Yet again** We had an amazing experience, no wait at all as we chose to eat outside, shady but sunny! I tried something new, the Baked potato hash with a poached egg and extra sourdough toast. Sooooo glad I did it was delightful, hubby went for the breakfast stack and was not disappointed. We are super excited you have a new venue opening soon, even closer to us AND town, can't wait to see you there!

What a lovely brunch, after all 5 star ratings and tempting photos, I decided to give this place a visit. I had a shashuka my partner had nutella and banana pancakes, and it did not disappoint. Will definitely come bake and try the hash as I had food envy looking at the couple opposite. The only down side is that it is too popular... but u can't help that.

Just popped in for a takeaway but had to review as the coffee was fantastic and the chicken sinner dough bun was super tasty with all the proportions spot on. I ended up interacting with around 4 team members for various reasons (welcome, ordering, delivery, coffee) and they were all so friendly, a really great experience. The look of the place is absolutely spot on. Went about half past 3 for a coffee and cake. Kitchen had closed at that time because they were closing at 4. Totally understood and told them we will be in and out 😊 Cakes amazing, coffee is alright but pleasant enough. Marked down as it was really obvious they wanted us to leave so they could close up early. I apologised for coming in at half 3 and we were gone by 10 to 4. Rammed a couple of coffees down us and got out of the place. Unfortunately another customer walked in wanting to sit with their drink and you could hear staff having a tut and commenting. It was awkward but lovely cakes and a nice place to sit 😊😊

Come here at least once a week, my favorite place to eat ever! The staff are so lovely and the service is always very quick even if there are queues outside the door. Everything runs smoothly and the food is delicious and very filling. Also very reasonable prices :)

What a fantastic place! I visited with my daughter who is vegan. I am not vegan. We got there early to avoid queuing in the wind and rain. We were met by possibly the friendliest and most welcoming staff we have ever experienced. The menu was perfect for us with a great balance of vegan and non vegan options. The service was prompt and the food was absolutely delicious! I really hope that they expand the cafe as I would have loved to linger and whilst we weren't pressured in any way to leave, we were mindful of the queue of cold hungry customers outside. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!

Visited early bird to catch up for breakfast with some friends whilst visiting Plymouth. The server who greeted us was lovely as were the waiting staff. However once we were finished our food which was very nice, there was an almost pressure to leave and vacate our table and we were only there for one hour. Hints were passed loudly by a floating member of staff. Considering we were catching up with friends who we hadn’t seen for a long time, and wanted to finish our drinks and chat, this was extremely disappointing and quite frankly rude. I appreciate it’s a busy place but we had spent quite an amount on food and drinks. Wont be back.

have only ever had the sweet treats from here but my god are they delicious! my sister introduced me to their donuts and I don't think I've ever had a better donut in my life. Have tried all sorts of their sweet stuff now and every one has tasted like heaven. the staff are so lovely and the cafe itself has a super relaxed environment (although i imagine the staff are super rushed off of their feet!) definitely plan on sitting in and getting a proper brunch at some point soon!

My husband and I had the vegan breakfast, which was excellent. A lot of thought and attention put into the food preparation and presentation. Scrambled tofu, tomato, vegan sausage, beans, mushrooms, crispy hash browns, fried eggplant strips and sourdough toast, plus we ordered a sharing portion of fries (yummy!). To keep the food warm, it was served on a heated griddle-style plate, which I thought was a really nice touch. Friendly staff and great service, we will definitely return!

i gave it only four stars because waiting in a line for over 40 mins on a saturday is crazy! but once you get inside they are incredibly efficient and have delicious food that is very creative and you can only get there. we went for breakfast then saw all the sweets and got some of those to go (they are pricey for brownies but i had never seen a millionaires brownie or any of their varieties before). good options for vegans/ vegetarians etc.

You'll kick yourself if you don't try it! I adore Early Bird; their story is amazing and it's beautiful to see how far they've come and are still going! Their customer service is great (there are a couple of new staff members that are still adjusting). The online store is awesome because they deliver the goods straight to your door, as fresh as in the cafe itself. Really reasonable prices for the occasional treat. The cafe itself has a great vibe, with plants and quirky pictures around; the seating is pretty good given the space size they're working with. The food: Sour dough loaf - incredible Country loaf - delicious Honey and sunflower loaf - incredible Hot cross buns were incredible Brownies - incredible Cookie nests - incredible Gourmet pork pies - incredible Cooked breakfasts - incredible (and extremely accommodating to fussy orderers like me) Chicken salt fries - fantastic Coffee - Great (a good 9/10 - some days its not as nice as before) Good selection of cold drinks - their milkshakes look amazing. As you can see, I'm a big fan. They're a brilliant lot & deserve all the praise possible for what they're providing not just in Mutley Plain, but all over the UK Thanks Early Bird!

Been going here for years and it's honestly the best artisan bakery/café I've been to! The staff really are what make this place special, they're the best. The family run culture just flows though the place! I feel I could write a whole essay on the brownies and cinnamon buns alone. They are incredible; the range, flavours, texture, just everything about them is simply delectable! The blondie aren't bad either, or the donuts, or the brookies, or the cookie nests... First thing is they are pricey. £14 for what is essentially a couple of breakfast baps. Now don't get me wrong , the ingredients were quality and they tasted lovely, however they were not 14 quid lovely. I am guessing that all the food they do is of an excellent quality and I will be going again but not for the breakfast stack. The selection of cakes they have looked outstanding too.To put things in perspective , I drove passed on a Sunday and people were queueing around the corner in the rain to get a seat so they are definitley doing it right.

What a fantastic find. Gorgeous little cafe on the main road through Mutley, Plymouth. Exciting, modern food menu served by lovely, friendly staff in a super cosy atmosphere. Great place to relax. Specialties of Brownies (and Blondies), filled donuts and topped cinnamon breads are truly scrumptious. Only problem I could find was that it was so difficult to choose which one to have. To help with the decision we went back 3 days straight and tried a few. Definitely recommend.

Really loved the food! A couple of issues, the food was a little too pricey, the tables were cramped in an awful lot (had staff and customers bumping in to me several times) and the staff weren't wearing PPE. If these were rectified, it would be a 5* review!

Absolutely fantastic food. A nice selection of food that isn't easy to find anywhere else on Mutley or the City Centre. The cafe seems to be family run and everybody working is extremely friendly. The atmosphere is also very nice along with the decor. I do want to note that there seems to be NO disabled access, which is a shame. I am happy to be corrected however there is clearly no access at the front or around the back. This is a very big shame as it also makes bringing a pram in slightly difficult is the step is very tall.

Where do I start, the cafe feels like a lovely place soon as you walk in, the staff are the friendliest and helpful. Last weekend I had the vegan Galaxy brownie and it was incredible, I mean the sort of brownie you dream about, so good I had to get another the following weekend, I cant fault them, the coffee is delicious I would highly recommend to anyone, they are a must place to go 😊

Not my best breakfast experience ever, but the food was very good. Worked out at just over £20 for a large breakfast and a large vegetarian breakfast with coffee which I feel is a bit on the pricey side compared to some competition, but probably appropriate for the center of mutley plain. They unfortunately didn't have any Decaf coffee when I was there and I suggested I would go to a coffee shop for a takeaway decaff coffee and bring it back. The staff member I spoke to was not particularly happy with this (I think she was either the owner or the manager) and asked if I was going to be eating food (I had just placed a £20 order for my table and I didn't see the relevance of whether I personally was eating or not). I explained that I was, and she somewhat reluctantly agreed to my suggestion. I'm glad she did or we would have left without breakfast as I can't have Coffee unless it's Decaffeinated. We didn't at any time get asked "Is everything ok with your meals" which would have been nice as we didn't really have enough butter. Overall the food was very good, but not the best service / experience for me.

I have eaten a great many things in my life, and put a great many things in my mouth; but I have never, EVER tasted something as indescribably delicious as the cinnamon bun I had from here yesterday. I could go in to how great their breakfast was, and believe me it really was, but it’s the cinnamon bun that has changed my life. We decided to buy a couple to take away, after being so amply filled by the breakfast. Glowing like an angel, she lowered her voice and suggested that I microwave them for 20 seconds when I got home and sealed this advice with a Martha Stewart smile. Needless to say, when we came hone and did just that it was like a DMT trip in my mouth. I absolutely will not only be telling everyone I know about it, but I will most certainly be back. Lovely family run place (daughter waiting tables, Mum serving with a smile; both a delight) they have captured the spirit of a Plymouth place rather than just copying Bristolian types. Wow! Sorry so late in posting. We were lucky enough to book in for the second ‘late bird’ before Christmas. We were too late to get into the first ‘late bird’ - and now I know why! I have nothing but praise for the whole evening. Greeted so warmly by the lovely staff who served an amazing cocktail as we sat down. We had a sharing platter to start - I can’t actually tell you which of the five or so choices were the best! This was followed by the best duck dish I’ve ever tasted! (The red cabbage was out of this world!) Compliments to the chef! Pudding is my thing - I’m afraid I’d eaten most of my choc torte before I took a photo!!! The meal was superb but it was also the atmosphere and the warmth from the staff that made the evening. Please do the ‘late night’ again! Lol we enjoyed the meal so much we actually went back for a late lunch the next day! Although there was a queue it moved very quickly and my word worth the wait! I suppose if people queue to go here there is certainly a good reason why! We left with two loaves of home made bread which omg - well you just need to try it! Totally recommend this family run business - how lucky is Plymouth to have not one but two Early Birds’!!!
