The food here is very tasty and it's a great atmosphere in the restaurant which gives you a great experience of vegetarian Indian cuisine. I think the only negatives are that the food comes in stages even if ordered together and one of the dishes took around an hour. I would recommend the food though as it was lovely.

This diner is equivalent to Greggs for South Indian food, specialising in traditional dishes such as Dosa, Idli, Uttapam, Vadas etc... I would say this is one of those few places which serves authentic Indian regional fare which hasn't been messed with to suit the western palate. Having said this, it also offers Indo-chinese dishes which are firm favourites.It looks and tastes as it should. It's fully vegetarian with an extensive menu choice. In fact it has numerous dishes which are suitable for vegans. They have an ala carte menu and also have a buffet service. I believe this branch in Reading is one of three. It was a lunch time visit and there were a fair few diners present. I had ordered uttapam topped with mixed vegetables which is like a pancake served with the usual sambhar, a coconut relish and some other relish. It was warm and spongy as you would expect and the sambhar was tasty and right consistency. I would say that the food is flavoursome, of reliably good standard and fairly priced. The service was friendly and attentive. It was clean and well lit. This restaurant is well located and easy to find. I have no hesitation recommending this place. Unfortunately, this restaurant has no disabled facilities which is a great shame and a negative point.

Absolutely incredible, if I could give it 6 stars I would. Lots of variety of authentic dishes. I had the Veg Manchurian Dosa and the depth of flavour was the best I’ve ever tasted. Very inexpensive for the large portion size too. Will definitely go back and highly recommend

Rava masala dosa £5.99- This dosa was so nice and crispy. The sambar and all the various chutneys served with this had different tastes and flavours which all banged. This dosa came with potato masala inside it and boyyyy it was amazing! I’ve had dosa once before which was ayt so this definitely takes first spot. Bombay thali £7.99- This has chana gravy, daal, paneer butter masala, paneer 65, biryani, paratha, popadum and halwa- This is a good way to enjoy everything in one big thaali. The paneer butter masala with the paratha was very delicious. I wished the paneer 65 pieces were bigger though as they were tinyyyyy. The chana gravy and daal were flavoursome and not bland at all! Choley baturay £4.99- These baturay were extremely fresh and delicious! They were piping hot and very fluffy, without being overly greasy. The chana curry was also very yummy and flavoursome. Hakka noodles £6.75- This is an Indian street food snack which had basic flavours. It was fairly bland in my opinion so I didn’t enjoy this very much. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit here. It is always nice to try different cuisines and as a food blogger, it almost becomes imperative to, but it’s always enjoyable. Halal status: No meat served here. Strictly vegetarian menu, but alcohol is served. Service: 4/5- they were very busy so they took ages to bring the bill out, but everyone was otherwise lovely.

This restaurant is at the corner of the town center towards Oxford street, one can see board from long distance though. Even from outside broad street mall. First of all about the food and taste, its awesome. Instead of going for regular food which will be delicious anyway, I ordered Chhole Bhature and Veg Biryani, Both were awesome! Both were for £6 each but taste wise its good. Try once even if you are low on budget. Ambience is also as good. One cant expect luxurious sitting places here but overall good. I will visit once again to taste another dishes they offer! Bon appétit !!! Cheers to life!!!

Very delicious food, we went two evenings in a row because we were visiting Reading, it is the sort of place you see others order different dishes that peak your interest for next time. Even though we ordered way more food then we needed to, nothing was left because it was way too tasty!

I am personally not a big fan of North Indian version of Dosas. I like my chutneys tempered with mustard and curry leaves and my sambar not sweet. But this might please wider audience from the Northern region of India.

Authentic collection of southern India’s breakfast brings nostalgia. Inspite of huge crowds on a Sunday morning, we were looked after very well. Service was with a smile and the management and staff took great care and we were well fed. We are from Oadby, Leicester. Will definitely visit again.

Nice staff, clean shop front, only gripes were that the the two meals came twenty minutes apart, I had finished mine when my mates finally had come. food was ok some items were a little luke warm but all in all it was fairly decent value. There soft drinks could be refrigerated better as well as both diet cokes were warm and served in plastic glasses.

Absolutely amazing! The entire experience from start to finish was great waitress (Lakshmi) is so friendly and kind. The food can’t get better and the prices are fair for the portion size. Don't be fooled by the rundown exterior this restaurant serves the most yummy food. Ordered a dosa as never has one before and it's a crispy delicious bread -like wrap. Good Indian Restaurant in reading Town Centre, South Indian dishes was good especially dosa and south Indian meal. Schezwan noodles was too garlicy and felt like they had added too much garlic paste than required. The restaurant was busy and hence the service was slower than expected and they missed the add on orders and did not not provide sambar on request even after reminders. Good South Indian food, can do with better service and improving other dishes and increasing customer focus.

We've had Crispy Dosa cater 2 home parties and have been extremely impressed with the service and quality of food. Mendu vadas as well as uttapum, chilli paneer and mogo are amazing. Very good & authentic South Indian food. Good value, and great service. I used to live in South India so know its food, and this restaurant serves great S.Indian food. Including enormous dosai! Stopped in for lunch as we were curious - dosas were massive light crispy pancakes with different kinds of fillings accompanied by various chutneys. Very tasty accompanied by freshly made juices. Very good authentic South Indian restaurant in Reading. Had lunch there recently and was pretty good experience. The food tasted authentic enough as well as great service by the team. Only feedback are that the peak hours can get little crowded and wish they had bigger space to accommodate every one. The chutney they give with medu vadas are very small in quantity probably like one tbsp quantity which was very disappointing because usually restaurants give you chutney in a small bowl with vada. Otherwise the quantity was good in other dishes. Also coconut chutney is very bland here. But overall great tasty food and can recommend having it here

We have visited the restaurants for 2 times in last 1 month and before this usually order food through Uber eats almost every fortnightly. Lovely South Indian food, always my must-try dish is Rasam with vada or have it as soup and podi idly. Yummy sambar and always smiling staff and lovely services. The service gets slow once it starts getting full. We have recently tried indo Chinese (schezwan fried rice) while our restaurant visits. For the first time it was too yummy but recently when we ordered it the rice was too spicy. As such did not have a great experience with the Indo Chinese dish.

If You haven't tasted their Tamil New Year Special menu do look out for such special occasions and do let go of that opportunity! 'Cos it will be a real culinary experience! You can savour authentic dishes like Akkaravadisal ( Rice based sweet delicacy) to Kaara Kozhambu ( spicy authentic curry) and they all tickle your taste buds. Highly recommend them for their authentic and unique flavours. Well done Crispy Dosa.! Look forward to many more eats!

My personal favourite is fulfilling breakfast every weekend. Yesterday I visited the reading branch restaurant for lunch and surprised to see the unlimited lunch buffet as well. I really enjoyed it. Even we have ordered a side dish which was not fully cooked and when we said that to the management they immediately replaced with new one which is awesome. My husband and I had lunch here. The staff are very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. It was our first visit and it definitely won't be our last! It took us a while to decide what to choose from the varied menu and we actually ordered way too much. The Bombay Thali was good although the texture of the chapatis could have been better. What stood out for both of us was the Paneer Manchurian - it was really outstanding! The only criticism I would have is the fact that the Kingfisher we ordered was not cold enough. The young lady who served us did take the trouble to ask if we would like ice, but I usually avoid adding ice to drinks so declined. A good drinks chiller would do the job! We visited Crispy Dosa again on a Friday at about 2pm. but unfortunately it was very busy. Although the staff were very pleasant and the food good, the service was very poor. There were only 2 bottles of Cobra in stock (which were beautifully chilled this time) and no other lagers so we had to share these between four of us. There were also no kulfi's in stock. Rather disappointed this time especially as we had brought some family with us to try it after our good experience last time.

We've been to this place 3 times so far. The first couple of times it was great. It was newly opened and one could see that everyone, from the servers to the manager were making an extra effort. A lot of items in the menu including an entire mocktails section were not available, but the food otherwise was amazing with proper Indian taste. That along with the good service made us overlook the few shortcomings. However, our most recent visit was a damper. They seemed to be under staffed and even the ones that were there lacked proper training. No menu was given after seating us. Pappadam, which we had ordered as starter was served with the main course. The list of items not available to order had grown even bigger. One of the items we had ordered was never served, but we were still billed for it. The only positive was that the food was still good. This place really has potential, but hopefully they will sort out their staffing/training issues and the menu, otherwise it will just end up being another 'chalu dhaba'.

I can't believe I only just realised this place was here! I have been aching for a South Indian breakfast for so long and here I had three perfect idly with sambar and fantastic chutneys - one with a nice bite to it. This is far and away the best South Indian restaurant I have found so far anywhere outside London. The food is absolutely authentic and they even serve South Indian coffee in proper, metal, singe-your-fingers-scald-your-lips cups. Heaven! Lovely, friendly service, with a smile, from a delightful girl - I will be back to try the dosas. This is now my go-to place in Reading for a snack.

This is the second time I've eaten here and it's one of the best dosa I've ever eaten. Crispy dosa is a good South Indian restaurant in Reading. Podi idli and Onion utthapam are my favourite. Also love the masala chai. Service was very good. Rajesh and Ian are great at their jobs. Went for unlimited buffet breakfast with my wife and was astounded at the quality of food on offer. There were ghee dosas, masala dosas, vadas and idlis all made to perfection. I particularly enjoyed the contrasting chutney flavours which supplemented the food. All was reasonably priced and the atmosphere was very warm / inviting.
