Despite the spate of bad reviews recently, I decided to stop for a selection of samosas, pakoras, aloo tikki, roti and cauliflower curry. I was served quickly and pleasantly, and pricing was very reasonable. The food was picked from the trays at the counter and heated in the kitchen. The roti and cauliflower curry were really nice and went down a treat. Same with the samosas, aloo tikki and most of the pakoras. The aubergine pakoras did have an interesting aftertaste, and the aloo pakoras needed a bit more time in the oil. However, the quality of the food, the price and the service were great in general, hence the 4 stars.

Very tasty samosas which go well with their tamarind chutney. Samosas are cooked on the spot while you wait, can't get any fresher than that. The shop has a great variety of tempting sweets and the staff is always friendly and helpful, highly recommend this little shop!!!

It is not everyday I review where I have eaten, mainly because nothing actually stands out enough to warrant it. This time however the food was fresh, clean and nothing short of incredible. The speed of delivery was good. The food felt very traditional and full of flavour, without the unnecessary additions that so often get tagged on to other places. Also I must recommend the to try traditional indian sweets with plenty of variety and chaats are to try a must. I was more than pleased with choices. Really, if you are in the area you should try this place out!

Amazing Indian sweets I bought from Maharaja Sweets in Reading yesterday. This was for a wedding in Swindon and was recommended by friends and didn’t disappoint. Absolutely fantastic Indian sweets and everyone at the wedding loved it and requested to know where I got them from. Highly recommend to everyone. I must also add the customer service was also excellent with Preet being front of house yesterday who really was knowledgeable and guided my selection. Thank you so much Preet and Maharaja sweets, look forward to seeing you again very soon.

I ordered some Dinner food for my nephews birthday and it was so delicious . It was ready by the given time and food was all warm and freshly made when I went to pick it up service was 10/10 . Guy on the counter even helped me to put my order in my car . Very impressive service and very clean shop . Must recommend to everyone.

Very nice service food is nice but could do with more spice which is a bit of a let down and the chutney needs to be a lot more thicker as it was like eating a samosa but with golgappa pani

they are hit or miss when it comes to vegetarian food. Indian sweets are just taste sweet and have no individual taste-in other words all the sweets taste the same. Had some channa Puri from them and the channa's had no taste, One would expect from vegetarian punjabi take away to be excellent in their Cooking skills for vegetarian food but so disappointing. No Issues with the service.

Everything is perfect about the shop… but parking is a challenge. Highly recommended. If you are 2 people you could perhaps wait in the car right outside… BUT do so at your own risk as it’s a bus lane. Love the food here

Been to Maharaja first time today, Their food gives a real taste of India. Also excellent taste of Mithai (Kaju Katli and Milk cake). Staff is very polite. Overall very happy with customer service. Highly recommended.

A lovely delectable range of mitai. The Jalebi was delicious you could taste the fresh ingrediants and food looks to a premium standard. The samosa chaat was also amazing! Deffo has the finesse and homely cooking style. Customer service was on point, very friendly!

This certainly is becoming my fav Indian place in Reading now. Had Matar-Paneer, Channa Daal, Tawa Roti and Plain Parantha last night. Tasted just like home cooked food. I certainly longed for more ☺️ Wud certainly revisit many many more times. Also, very pleasant owners and staff. Makes the experience even better.
