Reviews of Mansion House Reading

Staff were great, expecially the older man doing the salad bar. Very friendly. The main food was so over cooked and dry. I was so disappointed considering we paid £21 per meal.

Came for my daughters birthday on NYD my son has ASD and can’t cope with food touching. The lady waitress was amazing with him, really listened and went out of her way to help with what he wanted
S. L.
I booked a table for 21 this evening to celebrate my sons birthday. Lovely meal, lovely food and excellent service from our waiter Reece. We needed the bill divided and lots of requests, all food and drinks came out at the same time and correctly. Really impressed! Huge thank you to Reece for looking after us.

We came for a meal this evening to celebrate a family members birthday. We were a pretty large booking of 22 people, including children. Our waiter Reese was absolutely amazing. It was a lot of people to manage by himself (especially considering he had other tables too). We also didn’t make life super easy with us all turning up at different times, standing up and swapping tables to socialise. But he did a great job and made sure we always had a drink and was quick to clear old cups and plates from the table. He did everything with a smile, nothing was too much to ask. A lovely guy and an asset to the company. The food was lovely and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal. But mostly wanted to give a shout out to Reese for the great service this evening. Thank you!

Visited here last week with my 2 kids. Was blown away by the service, so helpful, welcoming and friendly. Food was amazing also, kids loved the 'build your own sundae'. Will be definitely going again. Thank you so much.

First time dining here, myself and 3 friends for breakfast. Excellent welcome, seats available even though it was busy. Server was excellent, good humoured, witty and professional. Took our orders quickly and offered the options available. Toast was spot-on (and they had Marmite! Result.). Full breakfast was hot, fresh, and tasty. Unlimited coffees was very welcome, and an excellent price at the end. Well worth a visit.

We booked a table for 6 but quickly our party grew to 9. On arrival we informed staff who happily went out of their way to accommodate us all.
Our waitress was soo lovely, happy and helpful and not fazed at all by our large, noisy group, half of which were nearly an hour late.
Thank you to all involved for a lovely evening!!
A. M.
Hadn't been here for a while. Lovely decor now, cosy and intimate even for a large space. Varied and tasty menu, it was hard to choose. I had the spinach and ricotta pasta as trying to eat less meat. Was just the right size portion and really flavoursome. Particular care taken over allergies. Beth our waitress was a delight, really friendly and attentive without being intrusive, she is an asset. Mid price range expect to pay 10 to 15 pounds for a main. But dont forget that includes the salad from the salad bar.
We will definitely be going again and soon.

A group of 10 of us came on the 13/2 it was guys from my bike group and we can be a tad unruly, we were served by a lovely lady called Paris who went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and to help in anyway possible, she was a great laugh and was more than up for talking while still getting everything done. Can’t commend her enough she’s a credit to your restaurant.
M. N.
Dripped in here on the way to Bristol to avoid a motorway service station meal.
It's a Harvester, so I'm not going to score it as fine dining, but the food was good enough, i.e. v.cheap sausages, and the service was friendly and attentive.
I'd happily go there again if passing.
A. S.
My wife and I called in for lunch yesterday the 10th November after not going for over four years.
The reason we haven’t been for so long is the food was not up to the usual standard.
Yesterday however we were very pleasantly surprised, the salad and the meal was very good and the waitress
Kathryn was very nice, friendly, and very attentive.
Will be going back again and would recommend to friends.
P. D.
A good choice of burgers, ribs, chicken & steaks. We all had burgers which came included with a side salad of your choice from the salad bar. The burgers were tasty and so were the chips. We also had desserts too, which again were very nice. Portion sizes were good which you can't say about some of the other chain run pub restaurants. The service was spot-on and it overall it felt like good value for money. Will definitely return when we visit Reading again.

Great place for lunch or dinner. Disabled parking right by the door, step free access. Food is 'ok' 6/10 style, clean and tidy. Staff are friendly and helpful (although at times distracted) one suggestion is staff need to do less snap chatting and more workie workie. Observation; noticed twice staff were more interested in phones than customers resulting in wrong orders to tables and drinks. Asked for a bar drink with NO ice twice and twice she got it wrong both occasions. Apart from that, cheap, cheerful, kids can run riot outside. Affordability 7/10 beats cooking at home and washing up

Later edit :
Following the discussion with the general manager who proved to be responsible and with an excellent attitude towards the clients, we came together to the conclusion (after the debate) that the amount of money paid extra will be returned to me.
I was happy to talk to someone who knows what he is doing and where the issue was.
Shocking customer service and experience.
I have never been in a place in this town to be treated this way. I've had my first experience with my co-workers. We spent more then 280£ in that table that night. We just tought we will be looked after and go home pleased. Needless to say, the waiter was hurry us because they were closing earlier. Not all drinks from menu available, we had to wait for a while for the food to come colder, we also received half a glass of drinks towards the end, made in a hurry, without strawberries, etc.
Had to call them cos I need it the bill. Was the adventure of my life. Had to insist on emails, phones, even though messenger I tried to contact them and they won't listen to me. Same answer :we sent you the email. NEVER GOT ONE FROM YOU GUYS.
Can't belive no one can manage this place properly, how difficult must be to keep a customer loyal?
I didn't learn my lesson and I insisted on going today again. I booked a table and what was going to be a quiet Friday night becomes my nightmare. Needless to say, the bill was up for some reasons (no one explained us WHY NOT EVEN MANAGER) and we spent an hour there trying to figure out where this extra money came from.
No one could convince us why I have to pay this money and why?
I have never been more EMBARRASSED of such a situation and for £ 3.5 I preferred to pay and go home because it is very late and I can't afford to stay there all night until they do their math.
The manager calculated the bill 55 times, each time with different results.
I said I'll pay as I'm not willing to sleep here tonight and she asked me not to shout at her.
I did the right thing otherwise I guess not even now I would not be home.
Shocking, I'm really disappointed, every time I'm going there something like this happens. Definitely. I come back home with a headache, embarrassed and tired. not a place where I can relax and enjoy myself
M. H.
A superb eatery with excellent quality food and great service. The menu is with a variety of choice and good value for money. The ambience is welcoming.
There’s free car park outside the premises but you must log your car registration number on the console inside the restaurant.
C. D.
Spacious place, dont park in the general parking if you have a pram/ reduced mobility person as there is no ramp leading to the location.
Food was good, lack of staff due to covid at the moment.
C. T. L.
I had my dinner there and i really like the atmosphere. The food was very good cooked. I tried in other restaurants with the same specific and i was disappointed.
I am vegetarian and this time the bbq was delicious.
The staff was there for us, nice and professional.
I really like because she knew how to treat a delicate situation and made me to feel special.
Thank you.
D. G.
Nice location and a rarity for England , loads of parking . The mansion House was built by the Liebenrood family hence the road name near it. As for the dining ate there with my kids the food is standard pub grub so it's ok . Nice atmosphere and free Salad bar is good . Recommended
R. P.
A great place to eat out for most occasions. I have eaten here multiple times and never had a bad meal. The staff are always kind and polite as well as the place is clean.
V. D.
Great service, generous portions, we only had mains but we were stuffed 😀
K. L.
Nice location and nice staff. The place was a bit hot on the day I visited. There is no air con. Not sure if it is broken or they do not have one. I felt bad for the friendly waitress to have to work in a hot environment.
It is a usual Harvester with unlimited salad. The fries and potatoes chips were really good.
There are plenty of parking but need to be aware the bend can only accommodate one car. Be slow when you go up or leave the car park.
A. H.
Good food not too expensive and service was what the trip special her name was Paris. Very attentive but not in a annoying way and didn’t rush us off the table
R. E.
Visited the Mansion House at 4.00 and received excellent service from very friendly staff who delivered very tasty food which was freshly cooked. Restaurant was well lit and very clean. Will definitely visit again around this time of day.
J. B.
Fantastic service from Saira. Fresh water for dogs, clean tables, socially distanced. Super easy to have a quick drink whilst on a walk in Prospect Park.
C. A.
Generally good food. Nothing fancy but good breadth of choice and reasonable prices.
J. W.
It's a Harvester. Decent enough food at a decent enough price. Kid friendly, friendly staff
S. K.
Beth and Sarah were very helpful and attentive. Alex was good for a friendly joke and the food was good too!
K. f.
Had a wonder meal, the food was excellent, staff were so friendly
S. B.
Group of 10 catered for at short notice, and the deputy manager was fantastic can't rate her highly enough. Food and overall service fantastic
N. M.
Excellent for having a nice meal in a nice place. The food, the atmosphere, the menu, we liked everything. Is our monthly eating out choice.
K. ,.
Friendly staff, clean and spaced well good food at good price and plenty of parking...few items on menu not available on early Friday evening
M. W.
Nice food and where it is but limited car parking
J. R.
The sides on the menu here are really tasty - big fan of the sage and onion chips, the spicy peas and especially the mac and cheese. Staff are friendly and accommodating, and the bar area is spacious and very comfortable.
A. S.
Another pretty and warm Harvester chain restaurant. We been here for breakfast and it was a very nice experience. One of the best breakfast deals you can get for £5.49 which includes unlimited breakfast bar. The staff is very passionate and friendly. Food arrived really quickly. As always, they are maintaining the high quality and taste in their food. I wish I could get an alternative for eggs. Restaurant and washrooms are clean and cozy. I recommend this place. Thank you .
D. G.
Great food and salad this harvester is really good
T. C.
The staff were very polite a courteous. The restaurant was lovely clean and welcoming and the food was delicious.
r. l.
Food was great and our server, Beth, was lovely. 100% would recommend to everyone
W. S.
Friendly helpful staff. Food was great and plenty of seating areas so could choose an outside or inside area to sit.
M. J.
Had a lovely Xmas dinner staff friendly and helpful maybe could do with a little more parking but everything else brilliant
C. F.
We had a wonderful meal at the Mansion House this evening - we were a large family group. Served perfectly by Sandra. The food and service were spot on . We will book again in the future. Thank you for making our evening a success.
S. B.
Nice experience. Good selection at the salad bar.food always hot.
v. s.
Been going here for a few years and has changed alot. Recently it has improved very well, with great friendly staff and nicer deco.
Definitely improved my preferences now.
I visited last week and have seen covid restrictions put in place which is great to see. You have a chef who assists with serving your salad as no touching allowed. It works well. There are staff to serve you with refills and any other requirements you have.
Definitely improved and works well all round.
R. S. G.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Added the spare ribs very bland and the fries were cold
D. S.
Had a very nice evening meal with good quality food & very good customer service
K. M.
Have visited a couple of times since pubs were allowed to reopen post-lockdown and the service is fantastic. Staff are alert, proactive and helpful. I will make sure to try and catch their names in future, but I couldn’t say a bad word about any of the ones we have encountered. The only sad thing about this pub is no pub quiz! Otherwise we would be there more often!
S. D.
My first meal out since the pandemic.... I am a care worker , so this was a lovely treat from my son. Our waitress was called parris she was lovely , so friendly, helpful and cheerful.as were all the staff we encountered tonight . Food was delicious and served quickly .
After a walk in the park. I popped back in to take a dessert home.
Pass on our thanks to all your lovely staff , especially parris.
A. G.
Friendly staff , excellent food a good and reasonably priced menu .Good service .
M. D.
Would never go here again. My daughter works in care. Looking after vulnerable people. We were going to meet at the mansion house for lunch. I waited 20 minutes didn't leave the car in the car park. My daughter couldn't make it due to work commitments and so I left. Got hit with a fine from euro car parks. Explained to them what happened then they added £50 to the ticket and declined my appeal. I swear I will never go here ever again.
Update
Explained my issue to the Mansion House who went above and beyond to fix this issue. Will definitely go there again. Can't wait actually.
G.
First visit to this harvester and it was lovely! Beautiful building. Staff were very polite, helpful and friendly, couldn't do enough for you. We had a very tasty breakfast and would return.
A. D.
It's a Harvester so you know what you're getting. Service was pleasant but a bit slow at times. Salad bar is present but you can't help yourself yet. Free parking is a plus for Reading, especially if you want to meet up with people you haven't seen for a while.
S. M.
Unlimited drink refills, unlimited salad, delicious food and nice staff. What can you ask for more :) location is great as well!
B. B.
Great food staff very happy and cheerful, pleasant surrounding, would of given 5stars but they had no rolls for your salad I give 4 stars.
A. B.
Wonderful place to have a long breakfast, and they serve delicious breakfast too.
j. s.
Really well looked after. Good Covid safety and staff were lovely. Amazing ultimate mixed grill!
T. D.
We go to this restaurant quite often when we visit friends in Reading and have never had a bad meal. Service is always good too - even more so on this visit.
However, I don't think Harvesters in general are as good value for money as they used to be.
P. F.
What a beautiful place - the park itself so very well kept up and I loved the memorial trees dotted around. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and sumptuous - we had a really nice meal. Thank you!
S.
Excellent meal excellent service by the young waiter. Will definately return.
D. K.
Omg Sandra was amazing, very attentive and delivered on all our needs including extra napkins. Chloe took over at the end of our meal but she was also good. I hope this helps the competition ;) x
p.
Nice location. Easy to get to. A standard Harvester with unlimited salad. There.is a big car park on top of the hill. The road getting to the car park is a bit tricky as there is a bend only enough for one car to get through. Remember to slow down to prevent any potential accident.
It is nice that you can walk around the park after a heavy lunch/dinner. It is ok to walk around the park at mid day or early afternoon. Not suggest to walk around the top part of the park at the evening as the area is a bit quiet.
K. G.
Great food . staff friendly and helpful .service is good
K. C.
There were 11 of us seated for breakfast, excellent service and great food. Will definately go back
J. P.
Great place to meet up and have a fun time
A. B.
Great food awesome staff amazing experience.
T. I.
Good systems in place over PPE.
Good food at fair prices. Good staff.
Drinks were less good though mine was fine. Queueing system for salad bar needs attention and likewise 'phone booking system was dysfunctional.
S. F.
Really enjoyed a proper Sunday roast
N. G.
Great service from Saira and Karma. Delicious food, lovely atmosphere. Can't wait to go again.
s. b.
Salad bar was good, bread rolls a bit hard. Meal was good. Steak was a little under cooked from request.
C. R.
Nice food and staff. Watch out for the car park. Make sure you pay, or you REALLY WILL Pay.
s.
I love this place. Great food and the salad bar is great.
DO NOT EAT SALAD BEFORE THE MAIN COURSE
Just wait, everyone eats 3 bowls of salad and then they're full when the actual food arrives 😂
L. P.
I love this particular Harvester honestly! The staff are always friendly, I get served quickly and the food is always great for the price! I particularly love their vegan breakfast and their vegan dinner menu is great too! The staff are always happy to answer any questions I have so I really cant complain
A. W.
Nice place, good food & friendly staff. Bit cold in the winter though.
J. H.
Still the same amazing quality food as before all the new precautions and procedures were put into place.
The staff were really nice and told us all the measures they had in place and the booking system they have online is easy to use.
The restaurant area isn't too crowded and is nicely spaced out.
Its also nicely located in the park where its not too busy which is great for a change.
M. M.
Lovely location, it was 35 degrees on the day we went and there is no air con so it was hot hot hot, I felt sorry for staff more then anything else. The service was prompt and due to covid, we had a waitress pretty much to ourselves who would refill drinks and salad. Very helpful regardless of her working conditions. Food came out fast and was very nice indeed.
M. G.
Okay as far as harvesters go. we visited during lock down so we couldn’t go to the salad bar, but could order from a list and it gets brought out.
We went for unlimited soft drinks, we had to ask both times for refills so this let the service down somewhat. It would have nice to have been offered top ups regularly.
L. K.
Lovely meal and Paris was very attentive.
D. P.
Good food but did add a pudding on the bill we did not order.
J. M.
Dining out after being locked down I was very pleased with the experience that the restaurant had to offer. Staff were lovely quick to order our meals. Explained anything we needed to know. It had a lovely atmosphere did not feel apprehensive at all. Well done. 😁
D. P.
Slow to start but good food & service
A. M.
Located in Prospect park, it offers great views over the park and parts of Reading. There's a free car parking at the front. The Mansion can be also accessed through the Prospect park via the back yard. I would recommend having a drink and chill in the back, during the warm months of the year. Plenty of space for children to run around and a playground close by. Not a great variety of drinks to choose from but still decent selection.
R. M.
Good Food, Excellent service.
Great Value for Money. Awesome Location.
H. C. (.
Social distancing was observed really well while taking our order and using the salad bar. The staff get your salad bar for you.
Food was fantastic, the only reason it's not five stars is the lady clearing the table did not social distance and even leaned across the meal we were eating rather than walk round the table.
S. N.
Situated in a pleasant position with great views over Reading. Food was good as expected in Harvester restaurants
A. H.
For a cold beer looking over Prospect Park and the rest of South Reading it's worth a visit.
I. J.
One of the best family eat out places in Reading.
J. C.
If anything, this has improved post Covid-19!!
Always good value and delicious food, with friendly service, in my personal opinion, the ambience is better now there are less people walking around getting drinks, salad etc. because of everything being table service.
The Mansion House has always been a family favourite, but I like it even more now!
M. P.
Good for families, ok food
M. “. E.
Food was very average in my opinion. The ribs were quite dry and I didn't like the chips.
The staff are great. All very polite and nice.
It's a nice looking place.
The toilets were grim. Very dirty and nasty. My girlfriend said it was the same in the female toilets.
D. B.
Bit rough and ready but is ok for a quick bite or impromptu breakfast.
J. K.
Very busy and we had to eat in the bar but service was fast! And the staff were nice too, prices reasonable but not cheap.
M. S.
Nice place to go eat with the family, friendly staff that were very helpful. There were a lot of tiny flies that was really annoying, but I guess maybe it's that time of year
C. C.
Chloe was amazing at her service. I had a small problem with my food and she was able to resolve it very quickly and desserts came back great
J. L. M.
It has nice changes in the interior, looks nice and clean. Food is good. Food was very quick, it was a big surprise how fast chips for the kids had come out. A big choice for the seating area. I had Bailey's latte, it was amazing, best drink ever.
C. S.
FOH were very pleasant polite and friendly, safety of customers and staff 100% I did however find the manager a bit on the rude side, very blunt and when telling him about no loo roll in the ladies his answer was 'oh what am I paying the cleaners for', sir you dont pay the cleaners u manage them and not very good obviously.. sorry but I dont like to hear staff being put down especially if I'm a customer and when not there to defend themselves
R. E.
Lovely view and a nice old building which has been recently refurbished. Clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. Good food to a good standard as you would expect from a Harvester. The location just makes it better than other Harvesters I’ve been to.
R. D.
The waitress assigned to our table got the drinks orders wrong. She claimed we'd ordered what she brought.... She didn't wait to hear what we wanted but felt she knew best. The food was okay. I ordered the original combo (quarter chicken with ribs and sage and onion chips) the ribs were good; the chicken was tiny and dry. I won't be rushing back there.
F. M.
Great food and service with reasonable prices. Really enjoyed our meal.
B. P.
Great place, great staff and atmosphere. They have also got a great menu and a very beautiful outdoor area. Would always visit when I come down this area. The food is really good and great customer service
P. B.
Really good value enhanced by frequent money off vouchers. The all you can eat salad cart is bonus and the new vegan options are much appreciated. The staff are always friendly and we always have a good evening.
F. S.
I go here with my partner every couple of months, and we love it. The tables are always clean, the salad bar is always pretty well stocked, the food is delicious, and the prices are reasonable. My only complaint is that the ladies toilets tend to need a clean. (By the way the Rocky Horror Sundae is INCREDIBLE.)
G. h. s. C.
Great food and service the squash could be better tho
A. V.
Friendly, welcoming staff and efficient service. They happily gave us a face mask when we asked, due to my friend leaving hers at home.
J. B.
Tonight we had excellent service. Food was good and we both enjoyed our evening. We will return
d.
Very good food and service and reasonably priced.
J. I.
First time trying this Harvester in a really long time. The Eat Out to Help Out scheme is great. 5 children and two adults had a main and dessert for under £25
Food came out hot and portions were good. Definitely go back again, even without the Help Out scheme.
E. M.
Friendly staff good food lovely gardens
C. B.
We visited Saturday lunchtime and were seated very quickly. Waitress was friendly, and took order for food and drink efficiently.
Chicken was served undercooked, but quick word with waitress and she provided fresh plates.
Food was fine, as one can expect from a Harvester.
Would consider eating there again.
G. O.
Well looked after, good food, good Covid protections in place and well explained. Only second time eating indoors since restrictions eased and very comfortable.
D. D.
Great location for a meal. This is a mansion house, in the middle of Prospect Park, with a beautiful view. You cannot beat it - especially on a summer's evening. The food was tasty, good value and the staff very good. Plus there is a free salad bar with unlimited salad. One area could improve - we would have liked larger portions of veg: but we could fill up with salad so not a massive problem.
K. S.
Really nice food and friendly service.
C. E.
Met a friend for a cuppa and chat, great service from the gentleman at the bar
K. K.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. Such a lovely evening, however the food let the evening down as my chicken was not cooked properly. The waitress sorted it out very quickly and didn't charge me for my meal. However just a bit disappointed.
a. d.
Booked table for daughter and I. 1St time attended since their refurb. Clean and modern . Look forward to the summer when can also sit outside as lovely park /green area. Food was nice. Good quality. Fair price. Waitress very friendly and attentive. Friendly greeting too on arrival.
R. H.
Very average fish & 12 chips!!!!. Peas and chips served in mini tin buckets, not any quality at all in this meal ...and salad bar tomatoes barely ripe ....the only positive was the view from our table out of the window. Also charged £10 more than for the same better quality meal at Brewers fayre.
D.
Great service, nice food, amazing location. Highly recommended.
M.
Honestly my partner and i drive from wokingham (nearer to bracknell) to eat at this harvester! Its super friendly and we have never had a problem! (Unlike its sister branch in bracknell that we keep on having problems with) wouldnt go tl any other now <3
A. T.
Good food and quick service even during busy period
N. O.
Not too bad. Had trouble trying to get waitress attention last time for my refill. Prices weren't too shabby either.
Nice views to look out of the window.
Some good stories told by the locals here about a man who rides his horse around prospect park with his head in his arm.
I don't know whether he was a patient from the hospital on the grounds.
D. M.
Great Service with a smile, Great Food, Great prices, Great Location .What's not to Love Try it.
S. O. R.
Nice place to come for a meal either romantic with the family and kids have a wide range of food and drinks for both adults and children. Nice bar good drinks. Table service here. Inside and outside seating. Takes Reservations take as can get busy. Fabulous views of prospect Park. Friendly staff. Well looked after the Mansion house. Great place for celebrating Wedding reception's Christenings most special occasions.
R. S.
Ver nice location. Friendly staff and good food. All you need really.
M. R.
Always pleasant, enjoy going here. Convenient parking. Good food, decent service, great salad buffet bar with meal. If by windows or outside get a lovely view over the park all year round. Recommended.
L.
The food was lovely. But it took the waitress 20 mins after we had eaten to come back and take our pudding order, it was not overly busy either.
I. B.
Service good. Nice breakfast reasonably priced.
7.
Very good customer service, everything brought to your table , they have nice sodas.
They put salad for you as well.
j. r.
Lovely food, service was great and loving the new look to the place
J. C.
Good food and atmosphere, though it's a little difficult to find if you've never been there before.
F. H.
Service was very good and the food was lovely. Big improvement from my last visit.
k. w.
Service was very good, food was OK but nothing special. Was roasting hot in the restaurant maybe invest in some air-conditioning.
V.
Aint been there in ages but on a recent visit the new make over was a pleasant surprise and is splendid. Good service, good food and beer, friendly staff and classy customers. Plenty of parking spaces and great views too.
S. P.
There was a big group of us, so we pre-ordered. The room was ready when we arrived, the food came in good time, it was all exactly as ordered so there was no drama. Overall it was perfectly reasonable, good value for money, no hiccups, no problems, an easy 5 stars.
S. I.
Very good food service excellent
N. S.
Lovely salad bar and grill food ..do check out outdoor seating

I chose to revisit the Mansion House on the chance things may have improved since my previous visit a few years prior. I was greeted by a wonderful Irish lady on the door who was very helpful and attentive.
They gave me a table looking out over the park which was nice as it had snowed heavily. The team here have improved substantially! Friendly, courteous and engaging.
I learnt they had just launched a new menu which was exciting as it had more variety. The food came out in good time despite the busy lunch period. It was hot, fresh and well presented. Compliments to the chef!
As this building is of such prominence on this side of Reading it's refreshing to have a reason to visit the park again.
Would whole heartedly recommend!

Lovely food, good service, great price with discount.
k. m.
Loved it. Staff helpful and the food was excellent. What more can you ask for.
N. S.
Went for my leavers lunch and the food was great. Most of the staff were friendly apart from the one who took our order. I think her name was Paris, she came off quite rude. Other than that it was great. Nice outside seating area as well.
N. H.
Not a bad place to have something to eat. The food is OK (Nothing out of this world). The waitress who served us was fantastic (22/09/2016). What I did enjoy as an added extra was the free salad and rolls :) I found the meal good value :)
S. D.
Good for a less expensive meal out especially if you use the lunch time deal menu 2 courses for £8.99 - meant I effectively got £1 off my main & a free ice-cream sundae. You get to help yourself to salad too so couldn't fit 3 courses which I think was £3 more.
M. C.
Lovely place just thought everything seemed a bit rushed and hectic. But it was very busy at the time
A. T.
It's a harvester restaurant. The food is nice and have recently re done the menu. Not sure about some of it however, is grilled watermelon a thing ? The staff are pleasant and friendly but the restaurant could do with a bit of a make over to compliment the new menu, every time I have eaten here the food has come out quickly and I've never had any complaints, the salad bar always looks fresh and well stocked. Well priced and tasty food but don't expect the world.
J.
When I last went there was a small vegan menu including a lovely chocolate orange desert. Really chill atmosphere, the building it's self is beautiful! And the staff members were really nice!
E. J.
Location is amazing. Sitting outside in the summer and the views are lovely. Service is good. Food is what you'd expect from a Harvester. Simple, but nice enough. Staff are friendly, parking is good.
A. S.
Excellent food, staff very helpful. Quick turnaround of food and drinks, all in a beautiful setting both indoors and the surrounding gardens. So lovely here have booked again in a couple of days
S. K.
Food was nice, would of preferred burger to be hot when comes to the table like the chips did.
Other than that, it was nice!!
K. B.
Went here for lunch with a friend. Seated quickly and didn't have to wait long for food. Our lunch was well cooked and tasty. Service was friendly but toilets could do with a good clean!
d. t.
it was a wonderful evening really good service and the food was perfect a ++++
B. R. H.
Very nice space, quick efficient service, probably too efficient, food very tasty, freshly prepared. Only downside was very small cup for my fruity tea. Was expecting pot for the price paid. Other than that very good experience. Thank you
J. B.
Nice food. Good price. Staff are very friendly.
L. W.
Good service , food arrived quickly and although the building looks run down inside is clean and up to date
c.
Such amazing staff accommodating and good food
J. L.
Absolutely love the food there and the place looks stunning. Only comment would be for slightly more frequent visits by staff as sometimes we had to wait for a long time for our server to come even though it was near empty
P. m.
Good food, mediocre prices. The waiting times can be a little long and the aesthetic is a little old, but the staff are patient and kind.
A. G.
Great waitress. Huge portions. Good value for money
B. K.
Great prices, enjoying a lunch time snack with a friend. Definitely recommend this place
G. B.
Very good and covid safe extremely well done. Food excellent
N. S.
Went for my leavers lunch and the food was great. Most of the staff were friendly apart from the one who took our order. I think her name was Paris, she came off quite rude. Other than that it was great. Nice outside seating area as well.
M. “. E.
Food was very average in my opinion. The ribs were quite dry and I didn't like the chips. …
V.
Aint been there in ages but on a recent visit the new make over was a pleasant surprise and is splendid. Good service, good food and beer, friendly staff and classy customers. Plenty of parking spaces and great views too.
C. B.
We visited Saturday lunchtime and were seated very quickly. Waitress was friendly, and took order for food and drink efficiently.
Chicken was served undercooked, but quick word with waitress and she provided …
J. K.
Very busy and we had to eat in the bar but service was fast! And the staff were nice too, prices reasonable but not cheap.
M.
Honestly my partner and i drive from wokingham (nearer to bracknell) to eat at this harvester! Its super friendly and we have never had a problem! (Unlike its sister branch in bracknell that we keep on having problems with) wouldnt go tl any other now <3
E. B.
We had a lovely family meal on Thursday night. Good food and good service. Our waitress Krista was really lovely and looked after us well.
b. l.
Always the best place to go for a meal out very good food an staff an very polite
R. P.
Group of 9. Kathryn was cheerfully attentive and ensured our meals came out promptly. Salad bar fresh and well-stocked. It was all that we would expect from a good Harvester and excellent value with an AA voucher! Pity about first impressions. Entrance is scruffy and half the summer plants in the concrete urns pulled up and cigarette butts in their place. But we all enjoyed it and feel staff need a compliment after recent indifferent Trip Advisor reviews.
D. B.
Busy Sunday afternoon, service a bit slow but was nice and friendly and if you can put up with the screaming kids then you won't have any problems here.
Have to say the pork roast was really good, much better than expected.
Some salt and pepper on the table would have been nice and would have saved me from trecking around the restaurant trying to find some.
Pricing not bad either so worth a try if you are peckish.
I. G.
Very nice building located in the park. Tasty food and friendly service. Tasteful interior design. You can eat outside in green surroundings.
M. W.
Zara n assistant Manager were so friendly & helpfully with very good customer service thank you ladies
M. T.
What looks like a high end spa resort situated in a wonderful green space, its actually home to a delightful & welcoming family space. Great for birthday gatherings & some simple well made plates.
J. J.
Gem of Reading, tucked away at the top of the Prospect Park. Great place to spend an evening ; Join their mailing list and get plenty of offers.
Good selection of drinks - I enjoyed a Guinness and Fish n Chips.
The place is decked out nicely ; Friendly and extremely helpful staff makes this a nice place to be. Homely feel to a relaxing evening !!
C. R.
Had a fabulous meal with family staff couldn't do enough
v. e.
brilliant location, food was great. can't beat a Harvester in the park
B. A.
Lovely meal, friendly staff, very quiet with renovations. Much more peaceful.
c. v.
Good food at a reasonable price, good choice and free salad bar. With free top up of your tea.
J. B.
Really nice food good service
H. 0.
The harvester has always been my favourite restaurant. Also with a bar area so if you don't fancy a sit down meal you can just pop in for a drink. Great to relax after a long walk in the park.
D. O.
Top marks for effort as a company, but would be good if they told the staff how everything works and what the food is! Towards the expensive side, food is cheap and cheerful ready meals and buffet is a mess. Depsite everything we went back so it wasn't that bad.
v. c.
Nice food well cooked and presented.
I. H.
Good food. Great service. Friendly atmosphere.
Clean restaurant. The toilets have a long overdue referb. Great place for lunch or dinner.
G. H.
Food was good, very long wait for our meal. Really appreciate that fact that the assistant manager was so honest with what the problem was.
Aside from the wait very pleasant.
Will be back!
G. C.
Amazing the salad bar is delicious and it is free then the food is all cooked fresh and there is a big option for everything. I have gone there on many occasions and will continue to. I definitely recommend to anyone especially people with kids
l. p.
Nice food and very good service
J. B.
Welcoming experience, although the food was very basic it was still nice and good value.
L. M.
Lovely food, friendly staff and plenty of space between the tables
J. M.
Took my children & grandchildren there for a meal. Really nice & friendly staff. Easy parking too. Nice play area just around the corner.
S. G.
Fanstic services. Food ready for collection straight away well done.
B. A.
More food then I could eat all our meals looked good worth a trip
P. H.
Really nice location for a warm and sunny day, the food is Ok but don't expect marvelous. The last time we were there, Easter, the steaks were tough and not good but the fish and chips were nice.
C. T.
Good refit.. looks modern and clean. As always service was slow
R. D.
Service can be show, especially at busy times. However the food is decent, inexpensive and the staff are always nice. Plenty of worse places you could go for a cheap meal.
K. P.
We went for breakfast, there was a good selection of food but was surprised that the continental breakfast didn't include pasties just fruit, cereal and toast. That said I had the cooked full English and it was good enough that I would come again.
M. K.
It is easy place to get to and it is much better after been reopened but the draw back that not much gluten free ,staff are good .
R. D.
Service was very good, food was good, apart from the veg, the carrots couldn't even be cut with a knife. All veg was undercooked and far to hard to eat. Everything else was fine, portion to £ ratio however was not so good, I had a small chicken breast, a very small jacket potato for 1p off £10. So value for money wasn't very good at all. I will check the menu online before considering my return.
R. C.
Nice place but it's got a bit pricey now for a sticky floor joint. Still like it but bring the prices down please.
W. S.
Excellent food and great service.
D. D.
It was lovely to go back . Emma the waitress was amazing and had amazing customer care .
M. K.
Visited this place today evening on recommendation from a friend. The outdoor tables were filled with bird poo and beer stains. The staff had to be reminded 3 times to clean it up.
Also, to my surprise my veggie wife discovered that their veggie chickpea burgers have egg in them. And fish are considered veggie by these folks. I wonder what century they live in.
In any case, the salad bar (which promised unlimited salad) was not kept topped up. The runner beans were not cooked properly and they served me some other meat as lamb!
And I paid nearly 50 quid for all of this. There were 4 adults and 1 toddler. Not going back.
E. B.
We had a lovely family meal on Thursday night. Good food and good service. Our waitress Krista was really lovely and looked after us well.
Z. S. (.
We have special needs kid and they were very kind. Food is excellent!!
K. L.
Great for all meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Good for families
A. W.
Very nice meal, and good value for money.
S. R.
Decent non veg breakfast. However has much better options for vegetarians as compared with most other places. Located slightly up with a view of the park, making a a great place on a sunny day.
L. C.
Never really liked the harvester, but tryed it again. Food was good and servicr average.
Well worth the visit
P. Q.
Great food wait was a bit long .Great staff
S. R.
Good service, reasonable options to choose from (Vegetarian/Vegan included), ample car parking
I. B.
Really nice food and great location
A. B.
Had a great meal with my daughters. Recommend a visit, nice salad bar.
N. w.
Used to go here regular with the kids but the standard had dropped right off. Toilets were disgusting and smelt terrible. Haven't been for over a year now so hopefully improved.
M. R.
Reasonably priced and good quality.
D. F.
Didn't eat here today as I was visiting staff for training. However the refurbishment looks really good. As a previous customer who thought it had become very poor the new look is far better.
B.
Fantastic service. Food was great. However there is no air-con which made the whole night uncomfortable
E. T.
Very cheap and cheerful. Friendly staff
G. I.
Have been to better harvesters and in comparison this one is average on service and a bit slow. Dont see myself going out of my way to eat here but more stopping by because of the nice park which surrpund it.
t. H.
Harvester was clean and the staff were excellent
Food a little pricey. But good
A. W.
The waitress sue was very friendly and accommodating and the food was great
Z. H.
Great food. Came in valentine's day. Lovely fish and chips
S. J.
I always liked this place and would like to visit this often with my family. Food and drink options are good and decor is very traditional yet not overbearing. Surrounding open space give opportunity to kids to play around.
Always a good place to visit on leisurely Sunday afternoon.
Well done guys !!!
J. W.
Not been here in awhile, but was pleasantly surprised by the new decorations and furniture... The service was fantastic, and the food was quite enjoyable... would definitely go again... 👍😊
K. R.
Lovely old building. Friendly staff.
R. T.
Ok...salad bars good, food is ok
C. K.
Lovely service, food and location.
G. B.
Perfect situation for a family meal. Food was excellent and the guy serving us was great. Kids could play on the green whilst we eat outside.
E. Q.
Very beautiful location in the middle of Prospect park. Traditional and tasty English cuisine. Reasonable prices I wouldn't recommend for a Sunday because it gets to crowded
L. H.
Basic family food. Free Salads included with all main meals. Good selection, burgers, steaks, wraps and healthy options. Fast service and very reasonable prices. Especially after 2pm Mon-Fri with an extra 33% off entire bill 😉
A. S.
Hi.
We the South Reading Camera Club had our annual christmas dinner with you last night 20th.
We would all like to say how great it was. the food was perfect and loads of it as well, the service was excelent as well, and the price even better. Well done Mansion house. top marks.
J. J.
Very nice food n service

Decided to go to the harvester mansion house on a whim, and glad we did.
The food was very good, but was upstaged by the excellent service from our server Paris.
Paris was very efficient and polite
Service personified
L. P.
Great service and great food plus very spacious playground for children.
S. G.
Good meal, far prices. Very busy always.
J. M.
Good food and good view. Good disabled access.
C. J.
Was actually really nice , I had a 12oz rib eye cooked perfectly. Much better than the last time we went
M. D.
Wow what a breakfast. How many pieces of bacon do you want? How many sausages, do you want scrambled or fried eggs. Would you like beans, tomatoes. The list went on. A breakfast filling a reasonable 9 pound.
M. L.
Great food and friendly service. It's located in the middle of Prospect Park with great views from the old mansion house.
M. C.
Good food at good prices. Lots of variety.
A. D.
Great place with outdoor seating.
G. L.
Nice building and lots of space. Very good value
M. T.
Had a really lovely meal today at The Mansion House, Caribbean Chicken, the only suggestion I can make is for the corn on the cob to have a couple of cocktail sticks at each end. Why? It would help to keep fingers drier from the butter.
L. G.
Great place, situated in a lovely area. Nice atmosphere and nice selection of food at a good price. Although waiting times can be a bit too long, you can use it as a chance to grab a drink and enjoy outdoors.
C. G.
Busy but we were served quickly, food was great. I had the seabass which was delicious, vegtables were cooked just right. What let the restaurant down were the ladies loos.
M. B.
Freindly place with a good atmosphere and friendly staff. Exactly what you would expect from a harvester, reasonable prices and family friendly.
J. K.
Good food, reasonable prices and nice staff.
R. A.
Good for coffee food looked good did not eat.
V. C.
Really good food, i had the bbq chicken stack. Was lush chicken could of been cooed a little longer thats the only negative i havr to say. Service was great and salad cart was lovepy.
H.
Great food, friendly staff, would definitely recommend
S. S.
Very friendly and helpful staff! Nice parking on site but a little walk! Great service too
J. B.
Came in for breakfast one Saturday, left, and a few hours later I realised I lost a bit of my necklace. Came back to see if it was here, no luck. However, when leaving our waitress came running after me to say she had found it earlier. Bad day turned better. :) Thank you!!
c. b.
Too busy, not helpful with a gluten free menu, had to look through lists and lists of all the men's to find what I wanted
t. 1.
Good quality food, reasonably priced
H. S.
Had late lunch today. Our waitress Paris was so patient with the kids and exceptional service. Thank you for making our visit easy and plesent :)
L. r.

B. S.
Nice salad bar, free refills on soft drinks, food, big plates, big food!
P. B.
Good food and good service
K. B.
Love this place meals are lovely and the park outside is nice to the only thing is if you want to park your car you got to put your reg in the restaurant for parking or face a heavy fine you can only park there if you are eating
C. E.
Good food and good service.
N.
Nice place to eat. Good food, nice setting. Probably better to book. Make sure you register your car on arrival for the car park.
B. T.
Very good service value for money whole building a bit grubby
G. W.
Sarah provided excellent customer service. Food was fab, we had the Christmas menu. Unlimited salad bar was tasty. Thank you for great food.
P. J.
Lovely food and staff friendly
D. B.
Going here on Good Friday was not a great idea. It was very busy and couldn't keep up with demand. The food is OK, the staff are friendly and work hard.
P. B.
Eggs Benedict was short on hollandaise. My son was beyond outraged he couldn't have black pudding. Service was good.
n. C.
Went along with family meal was lovely , but we waited over an hr for our puddings. Apparently they forgot about us. We had small children with us as well...
t. D.
Location is lovely. Been here quite a few times but food has gone down hill. Steak was charred even though we asked for medium and tapas of starters treated like it had been sat under the grill for far too long. Bottomless refills are a good idea but salad bar leaves alot to desire... Very boring. Service was very slow too. Such a shame because we used to enjoy visiting here.
l. f.
Mains are fine. Hands down the worst prawn cocktail I've ever tasted. Drinks and service was very good.
S. H.
Good food and service!
K. G.
Mansion house reading only ordered salads which were nice and as always very friendly staff and atmosphere
D. A.
Food was good, the place has been renovated and been opened up so feels less crowded a little more expensive then last time but still good food.
T. G.

A. B.
Good food great service
M. G.
Good ambience. Polite staff. Ample parking. Good quality food. Always an enjoyable experience.
C. M.
Brilliant meal and price
D. S.
Hit and miss. Sometimes great and sometimes appallingly bad. Staff also vary. They can be very helpful or incompetent. Always worth a try. Shame about the psychic fairs. That puts us off going.
D. Y.
It's just a lovely place for kids in the weekend or late afternoon business meeting catch up
A. H.
Wonderful views over Prospect Park, friendly staff and inexpensive!
F. M.
Nice food and lovely setting. One of the best fish and chips around.
l. Q.
Excellent attentive service, no one on front desk tonight though so initially slow to get sat down. Sandra took care of us fantastically for the rest of the night
B. n.
Great location, feels special with Harvester prices. Well Done!
C. E.
Food was very average but I can say the quality varies at different times im sure if you went at a quieter youre meal would be much more enjoyable
K. G.
Very friendly staff and a nice service. All the waiters and waitresses all served with a smile and the food was very delicious
T. J.
Very reasonably priced, lots of room which is good for big groups. Salad bar which is included has good options. Friendly staff made for an enjoyable lunch.
R. O.
Good food, good service, decent prices. My children love it
P. W.
Nice food. Great salad bar. Lovely location. May get very busy at times though. Recommended!
M. F.
Very good.. my gammon was bit fatty. Service was good. No complaints.
A. W.
Kathryn is the best waitress, she's really funny and always on hand if you have any questions or issues. Since the refurb, the quality of food has improved. Beautifully laid out with stylish, sophisticated decor. Be sure to enter your car reg at the check in station!!
S. R.
Food was good hot and fresh
I. V.
Really good food and lovely outdoor space where you can eat with your dog!
D. M.
I adore the little salads. Went in there and stole all bread rolls :)
J. C.
I love this place!
The all-you-can-eat breakfast for about $US7 is a true gut-stuffing bargain!
My first port of call when visiting the U.K.
g. r.
Food was 100% much better than our last visit, refit looks ok but for us little on the dark side but looks nice staff very friendly and service was ok , would go again
A. H.
We enjoyed a meal at The Mansion House, Reading. The occupied tables were well spaced out, and the staff informed us of the procedures and precautions in place to protect us and them. The staff serve you from the salad cart, and also the refillable drinks. We are pleased that the Harvester is now open, and they are taking part in the 50% off meals on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesdays in August.
C. M.
We go often. Either eat outside or in. Tasty dishes, efficient staff, and it's nice and clean.
g. l.
I have been here many times and it is always great. I love the salad bar and the service is good. I do not recommend sitting outside.
O. S.
Excellent service, the waitress was brilliant and Nationwide cash back. Win win win.
I. a. f.
Great service. Nice relaxed atmosphere.
D.
Lovely food lovely staff
D. T.
Ok food good but you definitely need to have the salad from the salad cart or you may go home hungry.
R. T.
Same food....service ok...price up a little
M. R.
Return looks nice, friendly staff, food better but jacket spud was as hard as nails as was the broccali but beef brisket was cooked perfect
a. z.
Top quality food. It is definitely the best pub in the area. great location too
K. H.
Great place, friendly, good food and service
J. L.
Ok food, great views
T. H.
Enjoyed our Christmas group meal here tonight. £18.45 for 3 courses. Help yourself salad bar with all main courses was good too..
B.
Very average food..not very clean either..
G.
The staff were nice. However the food quality has gone down and prices have gone up. My food was most edible but really greasy and the bread rolls were rock hard and couldn't cut or bite them. The biggest concern though is the drinks machine; sometimes it will dispense a pale diluted version of the drink you are filling. This happens when the drink has run out because instead of telling you it's run out, it starts to top up the drink with water. Wish it wouldn't do that.
A. P.
Drinks OK. Food, nothing special. Large junk food portions for kids - nuggets, chips, etc. Salad bar can be considered as a healthy option.
J. N.
Lovely location, friendly staff & nice food
T. C.
Good family restaurant and caters well for children.
The main meals are of varying quality but excellent value and salad bar is great.
J. o.
Felt very safe and food was great!
b. l.
Always the best place to go for a meal out very good food an staff an very polite
K. M.
Havester and pretty good, although the new menu has a lot of Fruit and sweet things with Savory, they are trying to turn more into a BBQ diner... although still cant beat the price point
B. K.
Great prices, enjoying a lunch time snack with a friend. Definitely recommend this place
T. B.
very nice good service
J. J.
Huge harvester with friendly staff, food is franchised and meets the expectations that I have from other harvesters, really good food and a large free car park make this an affordable yet lovely evening out.
R. M.
Great place and good value
D. E.
Great food and service
C. G.
A good place to eat
M. M.
Great place food ok but people where great with ground like that I would drive there all the time
P. G.
Excellent service friendly waitress
a. d.
Nice food the chicken is very well cooked
The staff are always nice and polite
J. E.
First class food very friendly staff would recommend it for group's or party occasions will be going back soon
L. T.
Very good service and plenty of good to choose from
D. B.
Great food, lots of parking and a great price
S. S.
Nice location, service took a bit long when trying to pay but the food came out quickly and was all good and as requested due to food intolerances. Great app with allergy info. A bit pricey for a basic pub meal and due to location often busy and can get very noisy. 20% off bill with AA membership, AA app gives you a code to show as you pay.
J. R.
Good for a cheap family meal!
W. W.
They serve food very quick, it's tasty. It's a clean place, they have some tables at the garden as well.
L. H.
Friendly staff and good food, lots of choice for vegetarians, what more do you need for a Sunday lunch!
S. S.
It's lots better than a couple months ago but still room for improvement
E. X.
Lovely view it takes a little longer than expected for the weight
M. N.
The cooked breakfast was yummy! But the breakfast bar was disappointing: there was no granola and the fruit was all tinned in syrup 😝 no fresh fruit anywhere.
S. H. (. H.
Good breakfast menu. Food is good quality and portions are big. Always same good service and standard.
D. W.
Went for a family evening meal out. We have been here before and although it's a convenient place to eat out it often feels like it could be cleaned a bit more often e.g. floors swept, salad bar tidied up a bit more, even tables sometimes.
Good value as you get free access to the salad bar with each main meal purchased, or can buy salad bar only if you don't want a full main meal. Can also skip straight to puds if you prefer.
