K. K.This is my local takeaway, love the chips, just going past the takeaway you can't not stop and get food!! I tend to go for the masala fish meal, chicken dipper meal, chicken burger meal or the 2 mini chicken burger meal. In the past the takeaway would provide salad with the meal but thats stopped. Also the complimentary drink etc especially after spending 60+ and being a regular. The previous owner would do this. I would of given 3 stars but as its my local takeaway and I know the food is good, portions hit and miss depending on who is serving but other than that food is great!!!

J. M.I have used Mr Cod for years from two of their shops. I just love their fish and chips and their fried chicken. Always cooked freshly as are their chips which are NOT frozen chips but prepared on site. Their staff are always pleasant. Mr Cod is a real joy to use. Well done.

K.Mr Cod has been a go-to for me for years because of the generous portion sizes, (especially when you upgrade to a larger size), simple approach and good quality fish and chips.
I recently went to another place in Reading which had won awards for its fish and chips, and had glowing reviews. It was rubbish - they tricked ne on portion sizes by just putting the same chips in a bigger box, the chips were worse than Mr Cod's, and they seemed to have a pretentious air about them. It's as if when you get good reviews and pretend to be much more important than you are, that is a good substitute for quality. I find it baffling if I'm honest.
Mr Cod doesn't pretend to be anything other than a simple fish and chip shop and it does it very well. I won't be changing any time soon!
