An above average Indian cuisine with a reasonable variety of buffet selection on one Sunday evening. The main restaurant was clean and comfortable seating but the men’s toilet was with wet floor and water continuously pouring from the defective urinals! Strangely enough there was no safety or warning signs.

The restaurant is very clean and pleasant. The staff were polite and friendly. The food arrived quite quickly after ordering and we all enjoyed a delicious meal. Would definitely consider coming here again.

Visited on a Monday evening. Staff were kind and helpful. Food was superb!! We were passing through Reading and staying at the hotel opposite (a 1 night stay), so wanted something to eat locally. We had read a couple of reviews saying it was a bit meh, but our experience was nothing like that! We both had starters, which later we both regretted - not because of the quality, but because neither of us could finish our mains, which was absolutely wonderful!!!! The Butter Chicken sauce was utterly divine! To top if off, the house Pinot was cold and sweet and the Cobra beer was fizzy. Both perfect compliments to our meal. If we go through Reading again, we absolutely would not hesitate in eating there. 5 stars from us!

Great tasting Indian food!! Decent portions and the location is ideal!! Slightly on the expensive side, but the taste makes up for it. Some of the waitrons were fantastic, checking on us and making sure we were satisfied, but there were 1 or 2 moments in which we felt we became a chore. Overall, I would recommend River Spice, over and over again.

Lovely Indian restaurant, well located, as the name would suggest, on the river. You can sit outside in nice weather and enjoy a meal by the water. The staff are friendly and really seem like they want you to enjoy your time there. Food is reasonably priced (normal Southern prices) and tastes great, although some dishes are hotter than they claim in the "chilli ratings" in the menu.

We have been using the River Spice for about six years and it's always a great experience, the menu is very comprehensive with great fish dishes and exotic additions, always light and not over creamed or heavy. The service is excellent with out the constant hover round the table factor. To visit the River Spice is still an event very recommended.

Nice cup of tea on the sunny terrace by the river, followed by a great main course from the Sunday buffet with a glass of water. 5* food hygiene rating too. Friendly staff, and reasonable price. The dish labels were hand written with some Indian names so not clear to me which were veggie, but the man I paid at the end politely accepted that feedback - I hope they will add that information to the labels.

Certainly our go-to Indian restaurant in Reading. Have visited several times and have always experienced excellent service. The menu has a great selection - all of the classics, a surprising number of duck dishes, even some ostrich! Worth visiting, and the buffet on Sunday is worth a try too!

Nice restaurant with riverside views which you can't see when it's dark! Good food and service and the house dishes well worth a try. Good buffet with many dishes on Sundays. Small car park on site or use Thameside Promenade car park by the hotel and just a short walk along the river.

We visited on a Saturday night so it was busy, noisy and the waiters were stressed and snappy. Someone threw up outside the toilet doors and never said a word so no one could use the toilets. Apart from that the food was good.

A nice clean comfortable place to enjoy a pint and a bowl of fresh hot tasty chips watching the River Thames and the world go by on a weekend afternoon. The pub is small, contemporary, clean, modern but small with friendly helpful staff.
