The best restaurant in Reading at the moment. We're coming here often to treat ourselves to excellent food, tasty drinks and a relaxed/warm atmosphere. The staff members are very friendly and very attentive making our experience even better.

Exceptional! My husband and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary here and words can't explain how much we loved it. It was out of this world...we call it the "corn stores effect". The staff were lovely from the moment we stepped through the door to the moment we left. I can't fault a single thing. The staff had all signed a card wishing us a happy anniversary which was a lovely touch. Everything we are and drank was delicious. We have told so many people at this point that we will be definitely be back! Thank you all! 💜

Anyways had a lovely time here. Very polite and observant staff and excellent food. Currently (December 2020) we are in tier 2 and they offer fine dining. What an experience! Every dish was superb and a work of art. One of the best restaurants in Reading for sure!

Went here after reading the reviews and I must say we were not disappointed. Right from entering the restaurant, we were greeted really well and they even made space to store the 2 prams that we had. The lady that looked after us was really pleasant and courteous and ensured that we had a great experience. The food is simply amazing and I would definitely recommend going for the steak as your mains. It was cooked as per our specification and our entire group of 6 were very happy with the food. It's slightly on the expensive side but would definitely recommend for a special occasion. And great ambience too!

Great new menu following reopening and the arrival of a new head chef, that really elevates their offering and experience above that of the rest of Readings restaurants. Missed the option of having a sharing steak "like old times", this was Readings best steak restaurant and i was slightly disappointed that steak wasnt available they way i expected it. The maître D explained they were looking to reintroduced sharing steaks as specials and maybe on the lunchtime menu so next time, might be a 5 star review.

Updated as of Feb 4th: I am absolutely gutted… was really looking forward to coming back here after it closed for December/January. The staff are still as incredible as ever and so is the wine and ambience but sadly they have changed the menu and the chef and now the food is just so average… things like the ox cheek croquette with horseradish hadn’t been seasoned at all and the horseradish accompanying it didn’t add the expected tang, it was all kind of flavourless; the crumpet with rarebit was fine but it was just exactly that - an ok crumpet with cheese on (nothing to elevate it); the sour dough bread didn’t have the right crumb at all and the butter was unsalted, again making the experience pretty underwhelming. For mains, the steak tartare was fine but very creamy and the salmon was good but nothing special. Unusually for me I didn’t even have a desert because they all sounded very unappealing. I wish they’d kept their old chef/old menu style… I appreciate though that this will be entirely personal taste. The whole experience from start to finish was exceptional: 1) The bartender who greeted us was accomodating, knolwedgeable and very talented; we usually find cocktails a bit of a let-down - too sweet, too sour etc. but he balanced them perfectly. 2) The wonderful Lisa who went above and beyond to make sure the whole evening was perfectly timed for us as we had to leave early to go to the cinema; she was perfect. 3) All the waiting staff who were polite, knowledgeable, personable and really engaging. 4) THE FOOD WAS INSANE! I cannot get over the appetiser of the pigs head croquette I think it was and then the first course with the venison ragu was possibly one of the best dishes I have had at a retsaurant. We loved it so much we are coming back again for NYE!

Really wasn't expecting a meal of that quality in central Reading! It's fine dining in relaxed surroundings with menus changed depending on availability (always a good sign!). The waiting staff were really well trained, attentive and fun. This place is clearly run very well. Will definitely return!!

I absolutely love this place and on 11 March we will have a Fun, Art and Bubbles (FAB) event night in the exclusive private members lounge and bar on the 3rd floor which we are sooo looking forward to. Incredible quality of food here with really friendly and knowledgeable staff. Ordered 3 courses from the evening menu. Would highly recommend the 7-week aged Dexter sirloin as a main. Not cheap but more than worth the price for the standard of food and service received. Will definitely be back again to try some other cuts 😋

Amazing.. I thought CAO was good and was hoping something else would open since they shut down... Glad we discovered this place.. Highly recommended. Went here last week with a few friends.. Owner was lovely, spoke about the history of the place and how the food is made.. He recommended some dishes and we ended up ordering off the special menu and boy was that good.. we ordered the T Bone and another one but cant remember the name.. put it this way, the steaks were so big it was enough for 4 big guys.. For starters we had the meat platter.. if u like sausages,, they are probably the best sausages you will have tasted.. Highly recommended and is a hidden gem, used to be a pub previously.. hope they are succesfull and stays.. Its opposite the APEX Plaza and 2 mins from Oakford Social Club.

We had lunch at the corn stores on Saturday with our 9 month old baby. Everything from start to finish was excellent. The food was the best I’ve ever eaten. We couldn’t fault the service or the setting. The covid measures made us feel so safe. It’s on the expensive side but it’s fine dining and you definitely get what you pay for. Incredible food.

Overall, a wonderful experience. The staff was very kind and engaging about their personal recommendations for food. From the moment we arrived to when we left, every person working was very nice. The ambience is perfect for a nice, relaxing meal. The food was delicious. We had the hummus and salami to start. The dishes found the balance of remaining simple but with their creative touch. For dinner we had a filet and iron steak. Excellent portion and perfectly cooked. The wine list is impressive with tons of options. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Quality cocktail bar, really well maintained. It's got a fantastic range of gin. Drinks are quite expensive, service is friendly and welcoming. They are also knowledgeable in the drinks they have. The interior decor is upmarket and sophisticated. The bar is about a 2 minute walk from Reading train station.

Such an amazing restaurant. I booked for our team to go here for Christmas lunch on 20th December. We were originally in a private area but because our numbers then exceeded the capacity we moved into the main restaurant which was accommodated for perfectly. The Christmas menu was incredibly varied and the food was just sublime. Considering our larger numbers of 28 the service was impeccable and the restaurant was still serving others as well. Everyone loved it. Cannot say a bad word and this is my definite go to restaurant in Reading.

The food was pretty good but the service was inattentive and rude. I was working on Saturday so decided to pop by for a steak. For most of the time I was the only patron however the male server was less than welcoming. It felt like I was bothering him, as he tried to rush me into choosing a meal. He didn't even tell me what the specials were (he did offer them to the couple that came just as I was leaving). To be fair, I work close by and sometimes have lunch with clients and colleagues, service is usually better for lunch mid week.

Lovely venue a stone's throw from the train station. Met a friend for lunch on a Saturday as Reading was a half way meeting point. There was a private function happening on the ground floor, but the restaurant was extremely empty. Can only imagine that they make their money during the week with foot fall from office workers or in the evening. As in the two hours we were sat in there, only two other tables were occupied. Particularly recommend the sourdough or flatbread with hummus to start and apple tart for two for dessert. All the mains we ordered were excellent too! Went in for sunday roast as i'd heard good things about its sister sites. It was a little bit disordered when we walked in the door, no staff to be found and we had no idea we'd needed to go upstairs (perhaps some signage would useful!). Got assigned a server who was obviously new... she was really pleasant but it all felt very disjointed! Lots of alcoholic drink choices but no information on soft drinks on the menu's we had on the table. Ordered 2 beef roasts, 1 gluten free. They came reasonably fast and looked very impressive! Sadly my gluten free roast didn't have a yorkshire pudding (they're really easy to make gluten free and really improve the level of inclusivity for gluten free diners if the effort is made). The missing yorkshire wasn't subbed for anything, which i wasn't particularly expecting but would have been nice! Overall taste was great, really high quality meat and delicious veggies. As a coeliac i didn't get ill, which is a good sign! Pleasant environment with beautiful architectural design. There was an automatic service charge of 12.5% which i don't like. I prefer to have the option to add a tip rather than having it there as a default, but that is personal preference. Bill came to around £55 which is fairly steep for 2 sunday roasts, 2 soft drinks and some water. Would come back again for a rare occasion, but not a regular occurance (unless a gluten free yorkshire pudding is available 😉)

Second time here, had Ribeye first time round and it was great if a little on the expensive side. Yesterday had roast beef, slightly disappointed with veg selection - just carrots and cabbage, but more disappointing was the plate seemed to have a base layer of what turned out to be celeriac purée and it was on everything else on the plate. A gravy boat on the side would also be welcome rather than it being added to the plate in the kitchen. Aside from this, portions were good and service friendly.

Inventive and original versions of brasserie classics, life-affirming cocktails, discreet and amiable staff. Don't be scared to choose from the lower priced end of the wine menu as it's still really good - the prices do go a bit crazy thereafter. Overall a great experience.
