Excellent hospitality and gorgeous food! We visited today for the first time, and we were taken by the atmosphere and ambience of the bistro. Very relaxing, romantic, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. We had garlic bread, the veal escalopes and rib eye steak mains, and for dessert: tiramisu and chocolate tart. Beautiful flavours and everything cooked to perfection. Cannot fault it, and will definitely be returning!

Discovered this place on our first visit to Southampton and we were delighted! I can't recommend this place highly enough! We received a warm welcome by our waitress Nina who was very friendly and helpful. I ordered king prawn linguine which were delicious, so flavorful and the prawn were perfectly cooked. My partner had the sea bass which he really enjoyed. We also ordered scallops as an appetizer and they were absolutely delicious, just melting in your mouth. And the tiramisu..it was just perfect! The atmosphere was so romantic with the dim lights and the nice decor. We would definitely come back!

Found this gem of a restaurant by chance while working away. I'm here for a few days but I've been twice this week already as it has been so wonderful. (I missed last night due to work). Tonight was the best calamari ever, followed by the king prawn linguini (Pictured).... I didn't want this dish to end as it was so lovely. Staff are amazing too, (thanks Anna and Adriana in particular). The food is stunningly nice and meeting George the boss (and headchef) who paid all the guests a visit too was for me ace and shows someone who is passionate about what they do, as well as great customer care. I will be back without a doubt as one of the best.... anywhere.

This was a cool find. Has quite a romantic atmosphere which is hard to find in Southampton restaurants. Very crammed in and candle light. Food was tasty and they do make cocktails (we had espresso martinis) even though there's no cocktail menu.

Lovely ambience, great service and great food. All dishes were delicious. £43 per head for 2 courses with coffee and one drink so quite expensive but to be fair I remember the meal more than the cost. The sort of place to impress a new girlfriend, after that it's back to Nandos!

First visit last night prior to going to The Mayflower theatre. Great position being opposite the theatre. Friend who booked had been there several times and I can see why. Lovely ambience, low lighting, bistro style layout but that apart, up market restaurant linen, cutlery etc. Quite a small menu for an Italian restaurant but everthing you'd expect thereon. Then there's the specials board! V inventive and too many temptations! We shared a baked camembert between the 3 of us & it was plenty. I had the veal escalopes, wonderful, other two had equally enjoyable fish & veal also. Desserts a little pricey but v nice. Lovely staff & service. Thoroughly recommend eating here & I will be back.

Just perfect. I randomly found it on google map and just wanted to try some seafood. Each of them including the tiramisu was just spot on. I actually thought it would be >£100. My favourite was the king prawn linguine. Originally I thought £30 for prawn linguine did a bit pricey. It turned out that there were more king prawns than linguine. The taste was also just right. My husband’s favourite was risotto fungi. The flavour was colourful.

We managed to book a table for after the theatre as they were fully booked at earlier times and although we ate later than we expected , they did not fail to impress us . Everything was perfect! My Husband and I visited Soleto on a busy Friday evening 17th Sept with friends - there were 6 of us altogether This was the first visit for our whole party and upon walking in we found the setting friendly, intimate, very well decorated and it smelt amazing! We were seated right away and drinks came quickly We were served by Nina - who was amazing, attentive and funny, she made us all feel very comfortable The menu choices were great - lots for everyone and we were all jealous of each others orders and how great they looked smelled and tasted. Its very reasonably priced for the standard of food and service - I cant wait to visit again

The food was amazing but extremely expensive. We shared a bottle of wine, shared mixed seafood and shared a pudding and the bill came to just over £170 for 2 people!! I think if the food wasn't so nice I'd be much more annoyed. Very nice and cute, clean place. Just a bit pricey.

First visit to this lovely Bistro. Great decor and atmosphere that made you feel like you were about to be treated to something special and the food didn't disappoint, although the slightly high prices do reflect this. The staff were ever so attentive and we took the waitress' wine recommendation which was spot on! My only slight niggle was that they put the 10% service charge on your bill when they present it to you, meaning it would make you feel very awkward to say you don't want to pay it... I would have tipped and handsomly for the quality we received and we did pay the service charge but it upsets me and slightly annoys me when it becomes such an expectation to tip that the business feels its entitled to add a voluntary amount to their invoice to you.

Visited for the second time to celebrate our daughter's 24th birthday. We were impressed on the previous occasion and it lived up to our expectations this time. Food is fantastic, full of flavour, well presented, serving staff are great and the owner/head chef George is a superb host. Ambience is cosy and we'll definitely return, highly recommended!

Me and my girlfriend were down for work in Southampton and found Soleto on Google reviews. Due to covid there was only outside dining but that didn't change the experience at all. The service could not have been better, personal heater, using the sign to block the wind by our feet and the food was phenomenal. By far from start to finish THE BEST experience I've had at a restaurant, food is phenomenal, service is phenomenal, atmosphere is phenomenal, do not give this a miss!

We had a great meal tonight while celebrating a birthday. The atmosphere was relaxed and it wasn't too busy inside. The restaurant staff was very friendly and helpful. The beers and some food on the menu were a bit pricy but it was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their courses. The toilets were clean and I noticed it had good access for people with disabilities/wheelchair.

Me and my fiancé visited here a few weeks ago to celebrate her last day at work before going on maternity leave. The food was great, really fresh and super tasty. The staff were great, very welcoming and attentive. I myself had the mussels starter, steak for main and a dessert. My fiancé had the Calamari starter, spicy prawn linguine main and a dessert. The food was delicious However, I’ve left a 3 star rating for 2 reasons. First reason: The social distancing was next to none in the restaurant. I understand it’s quite a tight space, but there was nothing except track and trace we were asked to fill out. There was even a table with at least 10 people on it Second reason: We were lead to believe there is a sommelier who recommends wines for the food, which is great! But when you order the Sauvignon Blanc off the wine list and a bottle of Mud House shows up on the table and you’re being charged £29!! for the bottle, it feels like a kick in the face. I understand business have there mark ups to make a profit, but that is ridiculous. I’m certain it wasn’t even the wine stated on the wine list. Apart from those two reasons, it’s a great restaurant with amazing food.

If you want to eat on a budget, don't come here. The quality is excellent, and good value for money. Freshly prepared from the best ingredients, it's a real treat. Make sure you look at the specials board for the best dining. Atmosphere is intimate, and the waitress was polite and helpful. Managed to slip in without a booking after matinee at the theatre opposite. We were lucky to get a table, booking definitely recommended. Proper little genuine Italian bistro, beautiful seafood perfectly cooked (best scallops I've ever eaten!) and quiet, intimate atmosphere even when full. Took my wife here a week or so ago. We got in for an early dinner while they were quiet and the service was good. The girl taking our orders gave us the perfect amount of time to pick what we wanted without making us wait around. The food was great, my wife commented that her White Bait as great as she remembered as she also ordered it last time she went. My wife had pasta for her main which she loved and my Romano pizza was exceptional. I love good quality, salty, seafood pizza's and this one was just head and shoulders above examples of this that I've had in other restaurants. It is pricey at Soleto but its not terribly expensive. Two starters, a selection of breads, two mains and two drinks came to £57 and it was well well worth it! Just dont forget to leave a tip, the chef and the girls there 100% deserve it!

COVID lockdown prevented us going out to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. My sister, based in Scotland with only the advice of Google,arranged a delivery of anti pasti, hot lobster accompanied by potatoes and salad. It was a fantastic experience, delivered on time with care and a smile. A generous portion of anti pasti, lovely lobster with a vast interesting salad and baby potatoes with rosemary. Thank you for making it a memorable evening for all the right reasons. We're waiting for the time we can visit the restaurant in person.

A little gem. A nice casual atmosphere in snug comfortable surroundings within walking distance from the theater, station and the solent museum. My family and I had a great meal here. Staff were friendly, helpful and service was 1st class. Although they had no children's menu they said they would do their best to accommodate my child's needs. The menu is not large but has a good range and selection of specials. The fish platter shared starter was especially good. My only criticism was the wine choice was a little pricey for what it was, but apart from that would defiantely go again

We live just up the road and never knew it was there. I phone at 16.30 to see if we could boom a table for 4 and they managed to squeeze us in. The food was amazing we had Stuffed Mushrooms and Camembert for starters and for main we had spaghetti Carbonara, Spaghetti and Meatballs. After this we had desert, for this we had Ice cream Salted Caramel Tart and my partner had 2 Vanilla Creme Brulee's and then was given 1 on the house. I can honestly say that I had one of the best meals at Gregs Bistro on Friday night. My husband and myself arrived at 6.30 and the restaurant was full with theatre goers, although we had to wait for our table for just a couple of minutes the lovely owner offered us a drink on the house, an excellent glass of red wine. The food was delicious, freshly cooked with excellent quality meat and seafood, homemade desserts too.Service was also to the highest standard. Can't wait to go back.

Despite being busy the staff were friendly and welcoming; they didn't leave us for long spells and were very helpful in answering questions about food intolerances (they do a great range of gluten free!). We shared a starter of scallops and creamy wholegrain mustard dressing over a salad, although the scallops were slightly underdone it was still delicious. For main my partner had chicken wrapped in Parma ham with cheese which she said was delicious whilst I had liver on mashed potatoes with onion gravy and veg. The food was all delicious and made a fantastic start to our evening. Definitely coming back!
