Been to quite a few Harvester especially last year traveling up too Newcastle . Never been to the Staunton Arms thou .. Nice friendly place really nice staff ,nothing was too much bother . Valentine's Day so a broad spectrum of clients in the restaurant. Noticed especially a young family sat near to us and how well they were looked after . Really liked the games pack they gave for the children to play snakes n ladder,s very retro but still fun :) Our food was excellent and the service was prompt and efficient. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. The venue is clean n tidy ..don't normally Photo toilets but the gents was exceptionally bright n clean lol Ps Chris and Esme were wonderful hosts.. a credit to Harvester :)

Bit of a strange one tonight, the Staff were amazing, text book customer management and if the review was based purely on that, there would be 5 golden stars floating above this review. The star of the show should have been the food, based on my plate 1 star. Cold chips, over cooked burger and a dry bun. This said, one of my mates rated his a five, the other rated it 3 so hit or miss there eh At the end of the day its a Harvester, you don't expect it to be anything special, its just your average franchise style pub.

It was busy as it was a Sunday but we were able to book 20 minutes before we arrived via the website and were sent a text confirmation. Parking was free for all those visiting just a simple case of putting your numberplate in the tablet as you entered. We were seated quickly by a polite member of staff who greeted us at the door, he explained that we would have assistance with the salad bar instead of helping ourselves as had previously been the system. Orders for myself and my son were taken fairly soon after we were seated before another member of staff took us up for our salad. We were asked by 2 members of staff if we needed drinks and we didn't need to wait long for our food which was delicious, well presented and substantial! Everywhere was clean and well run with all the staff polite, cheerful and helpful.

The restaurant has a lovely indoor and outdoor vibe. I really enjoyed the ribs. Delicious. A big pity they had no nachos available when I came to eat as that is my favourite. It is very much self help as the staff are super busy but well worth a dinner.

Really nice place/atmosphere. Staff are friendly and helpful, being careful with allergens too. The meals were ok but the chips were not fresh hot even though the plates were hot and the chicken breast a little on the dry chewy side. The roast chicken would have been a better choice but they were not available at time of ordering. I would go there again but be more careful about what I ordered.

Lovely service today for breakfast I came in with my friend and sat in the corner on looking the road. We were served by a lady who I believe to be called Annie. She was so helpful and polite and I didn't get the chance to say thank you before I left. I asked for my leftovers for the doggy and she was very helpful in giving them to me. Huge smile throughout. Thank you so much for making our morning breakfast so lovely. Very grateful.

Josh C was really incredible went above and beyond. I have really sensitive teeth and when this was explained he went and looked everywhere for a straw, couldn’t find one so improvised with a paper flag and made a straw from the handle part. Was extremely happy with just the fact that josh went above and beyond and it was bonus that his idea worked!! Really lovely experience with very genuine people!!

Lovely and clean restaurant, food was well cooked and came out fairly quickly and drinks the same. Our server was brilliant and ever so helpful, despite the busy-ness of the place! However, what brought the experience down was the rudeness from other staff. I understand that it was very busy, but staff pushed past us and other members of the public a few times. When I preempted our paths crossing and waited, having already been pushed past, staff didn't say thank you or even make mild eye contact. The only other thing I take issue with is the app we were advised to use. A good idea, but when placing a gluten-free filter on food, nothing came up. I had to bother our server, who was doing he best to keep everyone happy, and ask about Gluten-free options. Overall, a mixed dining experience. The Food was great, the drinks were nice, the service was fantastic but the other staff and lack of allegen options were problematic

Service from Kathy, our Server, was faultless. Kathy’s smile, patience and compassion towards our 92 year old Nana’s additional needs was amazing and made our evening more enjoyable. Unfortunately, the steak was significantly over cooked but this was immediately resolved again by Kathy.

Today I stopped in for lunch with my mum . Cathy (kathy) not sure on correct spelling was so welcoming. As a larger lady I was blown away when Cathy asked me if I'd prefer a seat on a chair rather than bench (I was attempting to sit on a bench with a larger tummy and had to move the table slightly). She was so polite and friendly and she asked in a way that wasn't off putting or rude. Thankyou so much for being so kind. I genuinely am greatfull you took the time to ensure I was comfortable when eating and really eased my anxiety. Absolutely lovely lady. I hope the company realise how lucky they are to have staff like yourself. The food was lovely. Served nice and hot and very little waiting time, though obvious if it was very busy I would have expected to wait longer. Definatly recommend.

The main meal was good hot and what we all ordered. The salad bar was awful and that putting it nicely tbh. The lettuce was brown (very brown) no pineapple and the Cucumber was soggy it didn't give the impression of being very fresh. The bread rolls qw good though which makes a change they are normally stale, but not today. Oh and sweetcorn was brown too. And I had the Rocky horror waffles. Where was the brownie? 2 small.pieces on the top of it? I have eaten this beofer in other harvesters a d it was a lot better.

Very disappointing meal. Birthday dinner which felt very rushed. I had the combo and burnt chicken as hidden under my ribs. Completely inedible. Dirty fried literally fries with cheese sauce not the crispy bacon etc that was promised on the menu. One young member of staff not terribly friendly and made us feel all too much bother. Having eaten here several times in the last year generally the food and service has been very good. Last time we visited though I got my food but it was cold and burnt, so the waiter sent it back, however when I received what I was told was the new food, I checked the burger to find it was the same chicken I had before just reheated (I'd already taken a couple of bites out of it when I had it the first time), I told the waiter when they came over again and they were very disappointed as well so they gave me a refund. I also heard other tables also send their food back as well for being too cold. It was very busy at the time so maybe it was just that and it was a one off. Our server Josh was very good too.

Lovely venue, good food cooked beautifully. Waitress was lovely however the lady who 'greeted us' was rather rude that we hadn't prebooked at 4pm on a weekday. I said if they couldn't seat us it won't a problem but they had plenty of empty tables at this point.

We went here for breakfast this morning. We had the unlimited make your own with unlimited drinks option. The service from the staff was exceptional, they were very friendly, attentive and helpful . The food was delicious and beautifully cooked. The management should be very proud of the high standard and quality of the food the chefs are sending out to the table. The manager on the door (we didn’t get his name) was very helpful with the track and trace and informing us of all the rules. Our waitress (Janice) was great. She was happy, attentive and funny. We as a family, visit here almost every Friday night for about 18 months. We are yet to have a meal that we would consider to be substandard. The service is superb and very friendly, staff take the time to talk through the menu and there is no rush apparent. The food is always a very good standard, and when they don't have something available, they let you know as you sit down. I would recommend the Staunton arms for a great meal out, for excellent value for money. Edit: first time in three years tonight, it's even better! They serve your salad for you now, so be mindful of that. It is a better way and much more hygienic too. Staff are fantastic.

Came with my family for dinner and it didn’t disappoint. The food was absolutely brilliant and the measures put in for COVID-19 did little to harm the experience. Our waitress Esme was amazing as well. The only reason why the review isn’t 5 stars is due to a glaring issue that we all shared with Harvester recently and that’s the rolls. The rolls aren’t the same due to the fact that they aren’t warm anymore. It’s a small change I know and the new rolls aren’t bad. They just aren’t the same. We’ve asked for the issue to be addressed and hopefully they’ll return the rolls to their “former glory” as it were. Overall however it was lovely and would 100% go again if the issue had been resolved. :)

Service was fairly slow, the table was not cleared between courses. The choice of English beers was limited to one. The food was acceptable although the steak that I had was quite grissely and the peas were of such a small portion that it didn't really matter that they were only lukewarm.

Whilst looking at the menu the manager came over to tell us that unfortunately the horrific rain has come through the roof of the kitchen, and therefore will have to shut the kitchen. I can't thank the staff enough after our Christmas plans nearly fell through after a change in government restrictions less than a week before the day. They provided us with our Christmas meal as a takeaway, a full 3 course turkey dinner with all the trimmings, including card, crackers and after dinner chocolates. The meals tasted wonderful and this enabled us to have our Christmas with an elderly relative who due to disabilities is unable to come to our house. They went above and beyond to help save our Christmas day.

My review is based on a single visit here, so hopefully I'm wrong, but I would say this place is average at best. Quite simply it's over priced. Unless you go for the early bird deal (seated before 5pm) you are paying high prices for average food. I had the "Big shorty" (short rib) which was nice but at over £17 it's definitely priced wrong for what you get. I feel that the kitchen may have been focused more on portion control instead of quality of food. Some easy fix suggestions for management; Wilted salad garnish - refrigerate Warm coleslaw - refrigerate Dirty salad bowls - sort it out Taste the kids mac n cheese! Now the good points; Nice spacious layout and dining areas. Harvester app has further deals and promotions. Paul our waiter was on the ball. One of the best waiters iv had in a long time.

Well the service was fantastic but the food was not as expected. My partners dinner came out cold the waitress was quick to get that sorted with fresh meat but even then it wasn't much hotter. The salad bar was practically empty no butter or marg and the sauces were all low or empty. Had to ask a member of staff to refill sauces and butter etc. As a family we were not impressed with our meal at the Staunton arms and will think twice before going there again it was our daughters birthday choice and to be honest we would have been better off going somewhere else. Price wise not good value for money will definetly not be visiting any time soon

My husband and I had a meal here last night. We were looked after by Tim. Good selection on the salad bar. For the mains I had the lamb shank Moroccan style with couscous. Compliments to the chef as it was delicious and full of so many flavours. For dessert I had the lemon sponge which again was delicious. We both had a very enjoyable evening, well done to you all.

Meal for one, and I was largely ignored as larger tables seemed to take priority. The young man that sat me was fine, very polite and courteous, but after 10 minutes without so much as an acknowledgement from the waitresses, I went to the bar to get my own drink. This resulted in a further delay as there was only one young barman on duty, and he was too busy preparing restaurant drinks to focus on bar customers. Not a great experience, the food was OK but nothing special.

Car parking space is good and shared with a Travelodge Hotel but it is now necessary to enter car registration on console inside the restaurant. However the restaurant is looking very shabby and grubby. The small garden area needs a makeover too with half empty flower baskets all dried up. Never visited toilets. Don't think I will visit this restaurant for a while.

I would eat there again, but maybe a little later.

Booked in advance through the app over the internet which was straight forward and easy to use. Arrived at the pub to be left waiting for 15 mins before a member of staff came to greet us which was annoying as I had pre booked a time suitable for my son so we could be home for his routine bed time. We were seated opposite the kitchen which was ideal as we were near the salad area so my son could get to and from the table easily. Food was lovely and came out within 15 mins of ordering. The only negative part of our visitors was the music from the kitchen and the staff seemed more interested in making plans for their social life than serving the customers. All in all I would give it 7/10 for our experience.

The Harvester is in a lovely location in the beautiful village of Rowlands Castle. the restaurant is L shaped and has far more seating than it looks like it should have. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The salad bar was a little disappointing the variety seems to have been reduced. The bread rolls now seem very small. When my main course came which was the mixed grill it was very dry and overcooked I was quite disappointed.

While I normally fully enjoy my dining experience here, I have decided it is important to warn others about the possible cross contamination (with potentially serious consequences) of fish/vegetarian food I experienced. I ordered the battered halloumi, and received an additional breaded scampi on my plate. This may have been an oversight plating up, or I wonder if the fryers were used for both. I was happy to continue eating as my meal choice was out of preference, and was compensated for the meal + dessert. Paul the waiter was friendly, helpful and apologetic.

Nice little Harvester, friendly staff, could do better. Car park is all wrong, spaces are for old isettas or at best a mini. Not a real issue in itself but if you've got a big estate car you'll be hanging out of the space by 3' and you'll be lucky to open the doors. Limited options for parents in that regard. Also there was, on my last visit, some very unsavoury graffiti on the gents toilet wall. Not a massive issue, it happens, but that graffiti was also there a month before and I had mentioned it to a member of staff then. Don't forget this is a family friendly restaurant. Recent price hikes mean a modest amount of food for 3 grown ups and two toddlers came to around £60. That might be my last visit for a bit.

So I always like the Harvester pub chain for food....... Unlimited salad bowl is a nice touch! However our visit to the Rowlands Castle Staunton Arms wasn't a great experience. The pub needs a refurbishment and there seems to be a slight damp smell. Our food was okay, we had the halloumi and chips which was £10.99 per meal. It was okay but it's better at the Farmhouse on the Eastern Road and cheaper. (two meals for under £9 Monday to Friday) On the plus side, the staff where pleasant.

typical harvester food, pretty good on the whole. bad things; the table we were put on was smaller than the phone im doing this review on, it wobbled really badly and was up against the wall, a pillar and a larger table, there shouldn't have been a table there. we should've asked to be moved but we were too hungry. some of the salad was a bit "tired", I know it was a busy night (Saturday) and the salad bar does get a mauling, but raw onion isn't all that popular so sticks around a long time, it should be replaced in a set time to keep it fresh not when its running low which could be all day. and looked like it.

I was recently informed in a reply from 'the owner' (bit ominous, but can't complain) that they, we, the royal we, perhaps, appreciated the positive review that I gave of their establishment. To be honest, I could not believe it, so I decided I would look back on the review that I gave to see what it was that I had done to receive the special merit of a reply but alas, I found none, for I had written no words! Now, to be acknowledged for no more but a mere celestial remark seemed less than appropriate and so I felt it necessary to justify my response by means of personally chosen lexis - thus I begin. My earlier review was no more than a star review and that is because, on that occasion, I had no words. The restaurant, known as the staunton arms simply blew me away with style and class, and through the professionalisms of the staff I thoroughly enjoyed my time, and honestly I would go again. There. Now, yes, this may be an automated reply, but the thought is there, and that's what matters. Thankyou Harvester -ahem- send me vouchers - ahem- Thankyou.

Had nachos and rack of ribs. Have had better meals here. Last time I had nachos here they looked home made, looked like a packed of dorretoes this time. Last time I had ribs the meat fell away from the bones, bit tougher this time.

My friends and I go here regularly, it's a reliable place to go, their good at keeping the salad cart stocked up, the food has always been good for burgers the steak on the mixed grills isn't always great can end up with a bad rump steak but it's got a large selection of food and unlimited drinks, all in all a good spot for a grub up.
