This resturante has a lot to live up to it is run by the grandson of the famous Mr Ali of the kyhber resturant the first in swindon in 1962 later by his son who is sadly no longer with us But the ganges has a life of its own you receive a warm welcome friendly staff ready to look after you The food as you would expect delicious The decor a little more modern as you would expect but homage is paid to tradition it terms of art You dont have to live in Wooton Bassett go out out for a tasty meal

My wife and I have a weekly curry from the Ganges Restaurant in Royal Wootton Bassett, and whenever the whole family come round, we all order, and really enjoy, a curry from there. The online ordering process is simple and clear, with most dishes detailed so that you can be sure what you're ordering. We are also entitled to a free delivery, which makes looking forward to a scrumptious meal even easier. The driver is always polite and friendly, and the meal arrives well packed and hot. The food itself is nicely spiced, full of flavour and there's a huge choice of interesting dishes, as well as all the traditional favourites. In addition, when ordering online, one can leave the chef simple comments which have always been honoured. My son doesn't like mushrooms, so a request, and he knows he can enjoy his curry without any surprises. I prefer a really hot curry, so I ask for this, and that is exactly what I get. No errors or mistakes, no skimpy portions, nothing ever missing - perfect. With a loyalty scheme in place, and an owner, Mijan, who is interested, and responsive, to feedback sent to him, The Ganges is hard to beat. This restaurant cooks delicious, quality food, and is good value for money - it comes highly recommended.

We were only one of two tables there on a midweek evening. My colleague had one of the specials and raved about it. I had a pretty ordinary curry, which was OK. Was adequate yeh, first beer was nice, then switched to a soft drink, which was unfortunately flat. Staff were reasonably polite.

Great place to order authentic Indian food. My family loves the food from ganges. Great customer service, I had an issue with one if the food item & I contacted restaurant, team apologised & sent me the replacement item within 10 min. Very happy with the service. Thank you🙂

Mijan + ganges team provided a delicious buffet for the bassett youth team and parents, it was value for money and would happily recommend/book again. Credit to Mijan who has worked tirelessly to continue the legacy built by his Dad by supporting & giving back to the local community.

Last weekend we enjoyed a delicious meal at Ganges. The food was fresh, hot and portions were a decent size. The staff were friendly and helpful. We normally order take away from ganges, it was nice to sit and eat a meal in a pleasant atmosphere.

The food is excellent. When we have a curry this is our go-to place. We've tried many different restaurants in the area but this is the best! Fair prices, excellent service, but the chief is always on point. Recommend any of the Chiefs selections. Butter Chicken is Awesome. I'm a flexitarian at present so tonight had the veggie jalfrize. 5⭐.

Been going here for years. Food is delicious, all freshly cooked to order. Never had a bad meal. They also do takeout (collection and delivery). Free parking available on the High Street and in Boroughfields if you're visiting in the evening.

Excellent food as usual, however the service was appalling. The only waitress prioritised the telephone for deliveries. We had to wait almost 30 minutes for our drinks, and poppadoms. Took almost an hour for our main meals, and our plates were almost thrown at us due to the fact the phone was ringing again. We could have forgiven the slow service, if it had been busy, but we were the only customers sat in the restaurant. This is the first time we have left a restaurant without giving a tip. It was our grandsons birthday treat, so we didn't comment at the time, so it didn't ruin his evening.

I can honestly say this is the best Indian food I have ever had. Each time I have ordered the food has been delicious, without fail (20+ times). The service is excellent (you have to wait but the food is actually cooked rather than it being just thrown in the microwave so it is well worth it). If you are new to the area or just visiting please try for yourselves - these are the sort of restaurants that are well worthy of your money/custom. Owner is a personable/nice chap too. 5*****

Looks are deceiving here. Small little place but lovely service, good staff, food took a while but after tasting you know it's because it's cooked from fresh. Most different menu and taste I've had. Pleasantly surprised. Price was good also. Well done x

This is a large Bangladeshi family run restaurant. We enjoyed the meal although would have appreciated being told that the curry for the 3 dishes we ordered was all the same. I'm not sure the other dishes we didn't try would all have been the same too. Being Indian this was obviously a bit disappointing, but the restaurant was highly recommended by locals. The service was very good overall however.
