Reviews of Harper’s Steakhouse at the Weighbridge
We stopped by Harper’s Steakhouse for lunch one Saturday afternoon, and we’re certainly glad we did. The building itself is beautiful and had a great atmosphere. It was pretty quiet when we visited but I imagine it’s got a great buzz during the evening.
The food was fantastic, fresh and above all else, extremely good value considering the quality. We shared some Buffalo Chicken Wings to start which were fantastic and some of the biggest wings I’ve ever seen.
For the main we both opted for the Rump Steak. It was nice that you could choose your accompaniments including sauces. I stuck with a classic Peppercorn Sauce alongside Salad and Chunky Chips. The meat was extremely well cooked, the sauce was sublime, the Chips were lovely and crispy too.
Service was friendly, and perhaps was a little slower due to there only being 2 staff, but overall it was a faultless experience and we would certainly 100% return in the future.
Lovely atmosphere and setting.
Absolutely beautiful inside and well cared for and clean.
Asha our server went out of her way to make our meal special and always made sure we had what we needed.
Will definitely be visiting again.
Ribs are a 10/10, the sauce is an amazing sweet but spicy combo 👌👌
Went Here for New years eve. We had the set menu, food was great, really enjoyed our evening. Great cocktail. Staff are all friendly and welcoming. We will return. Recommended.
We had a lovely brunch here - staff were really friendly and the venue is a cracking building. The food was good quality and came out piping hot.
We were pleasantly surprised as we were in a rush and just picked this place out at random. Only word of caution is that if you sit outside it will be noisy - there is a road on one side and a railway on the other.
Beautiful breakfast experience. Had a lovely time eating an amazing meal. I’m slightly picky when it comes to my food and yet the chef and waitress delivered a great meal and understood clearly. Thank you Jess ❤️ Gorgeous dining hall too! Lovely architectural design!
A unique and welcome change to traditional pubs and eateries.
Harpers Steakhouse offers a dining experience like no other within an old restored building that invites anyone to dine and drink inside.
The menu is based on steak (obviously) however there are plenty of other options including vegan. We had the cauliflour buffalo bites and they were pretty good, tender, tasty and yummy. The chicken burger was also pretty well prepared with a very large breast which went down nicely.
Staff are great and very helpful with recommendations on both menu and drinks.
Lots of outside and inside seating arrangements for small and very large gorups of people. Large bar offering an extensive drinks menu including soft drinks.
Wifi is available and free parking.
Recommendations
Fully recommended for any occation and next to the outlet mall, just makes it even more inviting.

Myself and my son visited here tonight (22/08/2021) and from the moment we arrived, the service was second to none.
We were looked after by a young lady called Victoria, who was absolutely superb and made sure our dining experience was faultless.
The food was just amazing, we had some starters, duck nuggets, mac & cheese with burnt ends and loaded hash browns, followed by the 16oz Rib eye, which was cooked to perfection, everything was just spot on.
This was my first time here, but definitely not my last.
Wife and myself went for the 3 course lunch on a Tuesday.
Plenty of parking, friendly staff, food was nice, hot and tasty portions ok,nice presentation.
the waitress - Victoria was very helpful and friendly, explained was short staffed, but done her best. Will go again & visit again sometime in the evening sometime 🤔👍
Nice evening out with my wife's girlfriends.
Food plentiful and delicious.
Staff very friendly, helpful and polite.
Historical building from the times when Swindon was world famous railway stock manufacturer.
Well worth a visit
Fantastic overall experience. Both the Weighbridge's strong reputation of quality verbally, written reviews and website combined. On my first visit, the reservation system is seamless! External decor detailing in great location and historical former brewery. Great menu variations no matter the occasion, whether it be a simple lunch, dinner with the other half and to celebrate special occasions. Ingredient quality and portion sizes are significant. Customer service aligned from Natalie upon arrival and the team around her. In my top three of locations within Swindon to visit on more regular occasions, following a significantly wonderful experience.
Not visited since it changed hands but really impressed. Straight away the staff were on it, introducing themselves, friendly and attentive.
The food was lovely with the steak perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth. Yes it wasn’t cheap but to go out in a great environment eating good food made the price worth every penny.
Father’s Day meal with 2 kids. Was excellent. Was impressed with level of service at a very busy time. Kids portion sizes were spot on. All our meals were very tasty. Liam our server was very attentive and friendly. Would definitely be returning. I like that they do £10 vouchers for money off your next visit too.
We went for my 21st birthday and it was such a lovely experience!
The atmosphere was lovely and lively, and all staff were very friendly and welcoming.
We were served by Liam, who was a true gent and gave incredible service. We came at a busy time but Liam was always very fast and provided great friendly service. Thank you Liam for making the experience that much more enjoyable than it already was!
The food was amazing. I had a steak and it was cooked to exactly how I liked it. My girlfriend also enjoyed her steak too, portion sizes were perfect as we were both left full!
The desserts were also very nice, I had the sticky toffee pudding which was very rich and tasty, and my girlfriend had the jam doughnut sundae which definitely lived up to her expectations!
On the whole it was a really lovely experience, and we will definitely be back! Thank you to all of the staff for being so accommodating, especially Liam!
Delightful gastropub... interesting and above average decor and sectional dining including private function space set this venue apart from other neighbourhood pubs. Large menu and specials too. Not inexpensive but huge portions can justify the cost... don't be afraid to ask for a doggy bag! Only one point to note, when ordering a steak, clarify what YOU mean by rare, medium rare and well done. I ordered medium rare but it was in fact medium on the outside and very rare to raw inside. This venue is fully accessible with WAS on the ground floor only. Plenty of parking. Would definitely recommend this venue, fun place to spend time with family and friends and good food and friendly, helpful staff.
It was a lovely experience! The staff were super friendly.
However, we ordered steak and when it arrived it came with just the pot with NO peppercorn sauce which usually comes with it. The waiter scanned out table and started laughing, we found it amusing as well, we did get some sauce.
The atmosphere is just amazing!
Unbelievably amazing. We were staying in town from London and this restaurant was by far the highlight of our visit. The food was out of this world and the staff were incredibly attentive. Could not recommend this place enough. Thank you to everyone and a special mention to Jen, our waitress, who exceeded all expectations and went above and beyond for us. Genuinely considering travelling back from London just for another one of their steaks.
This was our first visit and we were very impressed! The food was really, really lovely and the service was prompt and polite. We had one small issue during our dinner that was sorted out swiftly and with no complaint.
Our main server - Sarah, was incredibly lovely, very approachable and happy at all times.
We will be back!
Good tasty food and a great selection of drinks.
Service excellent. This is a regular location for us to grab lunch.
Beautiful venue. Came with my wife and little girl (18mo). Had a lovely waiter, Tom looking after us who really was excellent. We are new to the area so looking for nice restaurants etc. This was definitely nice. Our 1 criticism is my wife is vegetarian and usually steak restaurants have a few really good veggie options. She had the cauliflower and it was unfortunately very bland. I would come again but I might struggle to convince her! That is why I've had to mark it down. Improve that and I'll happily amend it to 5!
We had the pleasure of being waited on by the lovely Liv. She was attentive and her timing was amazing. The food was great but she really made the experience! The new look and menu is wonderful. Cannot wait to be back! Highly recommend the French martini and the mac n’ cheese with burnt ends, add some truffle fries and you’ll be a happy bunny 🖤
Amazing food the portions were 10/10 for a Sunday roast, food did not take too long to come out either. Loved the atmosphere of the piano player too. Have to give a shout-out to our server Liam, so attentive, friendly and welcoming and made our experience all the more enjoyable!!
Tonight was our 2nd time at the Harper's Steakhouse at the Weighbridge for a birthday.
The decor is very modern with very high ceilings and long hanging lights everywhere. The seating arrangements are comfortable and not at all cramped or intrusive.
The servers are very polite and accommodating.
Our server was Liam and he was brilliant he is a very nice person and answered any questions we had due to being knowledgeable about the restaurant.
Our starters were slightly wrong in that the chef's didn't seem to understand what pulled pork is, but after we mentioned it, Liam made every effort to rectify this and thanks to his efforts we were not disappointed.
We had pulled pork over hash browns in a sort of nachos kind of way (very nice) and we also had the sweet sesame chicken bits for starter which are lovely and very moreish!
For main course you can't go wrong with anything on the menu, -
Ribs - fantastic
Steak - well cooked and melt in the mouth
Burgers - well cooked, good quality and well presented.
We will be back for another visit but not on a Sunday due to a slightly reduced menu. Weekdays also have better deals it seems with sharer platters which I think we will try next.
Overall the Harper's gets 4 stars, very pleased.
Great breakfast with different things to choose from including a range of benedicts, wonderful pancakes, sausage and egg muffin and chicken waffle
Had a great Sunday roast celebrating Father’s Day yesterday. Stunning location and very good food, the portions were generous and all very delicious. Friendly service, great host and we didn’t feel rushed. Will definitely return.
Had an excellent night , server Lucy-Anne was fantastic , lovely atmosphere, food was great and the cocktails were good fresh and not the normal run of the mill, wine selection good we will be definately be coming back thank you
nice starter sharers and steak was decent. worth a visit when in the area.
Service was lovely, warm and welcome - Liam our server absolutely made our experience. We visited on a Sunday with their Sunday Menu, we have to say 1st time round one of our chicken burgers was burnt however the servers quickly fixed this and brought a new meal out quickly.
Really nice food! A bit more expensive but I'd say it was worth the price. Not a great selection of beers although they luckily had one of my favourites. The downside was the speed of service. We're were made to wait over an hour for the food and this was on a calm wednesday evening, I'd hate to know how long this would've been on a weekend. I'd recommend this place for a one off special occasion.
Came with my daughter and three young grandkids today. Food was great. Non alcoholic wine was perfect and I found a new favourite!
Our waitress was helpful, patient, professional, really sweet and could nt do enough for us. It was only her second day but she was brilliant. Will definitely return next time we are in Swindon.
Had an absolutely lovely meal. Cauliflower wings and calamari to start, delicious, Chef knows what he’s doing. Ribeye and sirloin for main, cooked exactly how we wanted, so delicious and very good value considering the portion sizes. Our waiter Asha was perfect, attentive and arrived exactly when we needed more refreshments.
Would thoroughly recommend.
What an amazing place to come, would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back. Staff members Sarah and Ben were brilliant very relaxed and friendly but made sure every need was catered for, could not recommend these guys enough! (Big thanks to Ben for the great playlist to keep the mood alive) 10/10 service 10/10 food!
Went for lunch today, served by a nice young man. (Sorry didn’t know the name) I had the lunchtime menu. Food was delicious, I had the Chicken and Bacon Caesar Salad. For dessert I had Sticky Toffee Pudding. It was really nice too. My little boy enjoyed his Sausage, chips and peas and Pancakes for pudding. We will definitely be going back.
Went for lunch on a weekday. I had a burger, was nice, can't go very wrong with a burger. My wife had a seafood salad. Prawns were underdone, she ended up being unwell for the rest of the day. She spoke to the chef who ws surprised as they had been taken out of the freezer the night before. This isn't the first time we've had issues with fish at the Weighbridge. Best to stick with what they do best (the beef)
Had a lovely breakfast this morning, followed by a cheeky brownie which I must say is by far the best one I’ve ever had. I couldn’t fault this restaurant in any way. A big thank you to Andreea who gave a spectacular service today!
Highly recommend!
Our visit to the Harper Steakhouse was thoroughly enjoyable with only a few burrs keeping it from a 5 star review.
We were lucky enough to receive consistent check ins from staff who created a welcoming and homely environment while remaining professional, although every aspect of the meal was fantastic I would of argued it's weakest link to of in fact been the steak, which in a steak house is a bit of a poor do.
On the point of aesthetics, they were consistent and strong while not being overwhelming, from the locomotive inspired artwork to the flowers being in a perfect newly-picked condition the establishment was a beauty to behold in its own right.
Furthermore, staff were diligent in checking allergens to ensure my survival and when requested they had a surplus of toothpicks on offer.
However the steak house did fall short in some noticeable areas, the windows were covered in light residue from tape and the presence of a piano with no pianist left something to be desired. For the more alcohol inclined reader 1/4 of the draft handles were out of action on my visit which greatly reduced the range of ales on offer and the old fashioned that was ordered had been filled with many small ice cubes which quickly watered it down.
In conclusion, one must keep in mind that although the experience of the Harper Steakhouse may be magnificent and something I would gladly partake in again, the price is also quite impressive which is the driving force for my harsh critique. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that can stomach the bill and for those of you who do choose to visit I implore you to order the dauphinoise potatoes which are second to none.
Bartender Ben and waitress Sarah were nothing less than perfect. Food came out in a timely manner and was absolutely amazing. Good music, good atmosphere. I highly recommend this place!
Beautiful building and friendly staff but the food was slow to come out and lukewarm. Mac n' cheese is bland and tastes like it is missing the cheese.
Have had better experiences here in the past so maybe they were just having an off night.
My partner and I have visited this restaurant a number of times. Most recently we went in and were served by Asha and visited by the new manager Tyrone. The food was great, the service and quick and friendly, and the overall experience was welcoming. I highly recommend it!
We was very impressed with our breakfast at the weighbridge for my daughter’s birthday. Our food was delicious and the service was excellent. We will definitely be returning and would definitely recommend.
My Wife and I decided to go for a roast with family and we decided to try out Harper's.
We were very satisfied with the service given - as we arrived we were welcomed by a very polite and engaging member of staff. They showed us to our table and I must say the décor was very lovely.
Our Waiter "Joe" was Excellent! very engaging , polite and attentive to our needs, I.e. more drinks or side dishes with our roast. The food was delicious everything was on point! Our experience at Harpers was delightful, we will definitely go there again to try other items on their menu. : ).
Had an amazing roast dinner with family on fathers day the cocktails ordered from the bar were made to perfection by ben, asha our server was so friendly and made our time there enjoyable and the food was so tasty the atmosphere was buzzing with what looked like every table full. All round a great day out will definitely come again
Jen provided a brilliant service and food was great! We had the platter which was ever so filling with plenty to choose from. Great atmosphere too. Definitely one of the tops places in Swindon.
We went for Sunday lunch fathers day
Staff very friendly and efficient especially our waitress
Food however not great
We had prawn & crab starter this was plentiful and very tasty
For our main he had the half a chicken I had the pork belly
His chicken looked dry but he said it was OK!
The potatoes were not what I call roasted they were pale and looked like boiled dipped in hot fat a few mins to give color No stuffing a little dish of cauliflower cheese and a separate little dish of broccoli to share
We both had lovely large Yorkshire puddings with our main.
My pork belly was juicy and tasty but the crackling didn't I didn't like the roast potatoes at all so passed them across
Both our gravy was very thin and just a drizzle
Our waitress was on break when our main was served this was just put in front of us nothing said no sauces offered
We only knew these and extra gravy were available when our waitress returned and was serving mains to the table next to us giving me the opportunity to ask for apple sauce and extra gravy for the chicken.
The dessert menu was not that tempting so we didn't bother although as I just had the Yorkshire 2 tiny slices of pork belly and a table spoon full of each vegetable and had starved myself all day in anticipation of my forthcoming meal at the expensive and reputable harpers I could have eaten a dessert which is not normally my thing
I certainly won't be going back
Over priced not a great meal
Nice staff and ambience
Far better Sunday lunches at half the price in various places around swindon
Not recommended
Very nice English breakfast and watched an enormous stack of pancakes being devoured. Would consider their BBQ night if the prices weren't so high, still not a bad spot to visit.
Went there for breakfast. Excellent food and fast friendly service. Special offer of 2 breakfasts for £14 was a bargain.
Came here for dinner with a friend tonight and the food was amazing 😁 Staff were friendly and polite and the menu had plenty of choice. Prices also very reasonable for the quality of the food. Would definitely recommend!
Nice lunchtime menu now £9.95 for 1 - £12.95 2 etc and was a good choice - steak Frites was £2/3 supplement which is fine - food was lovely and service was excellent
If you want a decent succulent piece of well cooked rustically chared piece of meat. Look no further. Looking forward to my next dine in.
Food wasn't the best. The staff were great and the atmosphere is nice. Shame about the food though.
Celebrated a special birthday with two of my friends on a Thursday evening. Food was excellent and beautifully presented. Liam, our server, couldn’t have been more attentive or helpful and was happy to join in with our banter! As we had booked expecting an offer which had been discontinued he offered us a discount. Also serving us was Eliza, again very pleasant and helpful. Highly recommend both the food and customer service.
Sunday brunch. Had the steak, egg and hashbrowns. Was amazing. Steak cooked perfect and super juicy.
Went for a roast on Sunday with my boyfriend and a friend and we had a lovely time! We got one of each type of roast and each of us had a delicious meal! The roast potatoes were premium and what a great touch that you can have unlimited extras!!! We had a great server Joe who was friendly and funny and even convinced us to get a dessert after such a filling meal! Can we also note that the piano player was amazing too!
Great staff, but some confusion over meals meant that my steak had sat around for a few minutes before being served and was a little colder than ideal. There were others in our group who had similar problems or delays in receiving their food. However, in spite of this the food was very nice and tasty.
The food was good and fresh quality meat. The whole experience was made great by the welcome and service throughout the dinner service we received from Jake. He went above and beyond to ensure we were perfectly well looked after. Would recommend a visit.
Lovely sunday lunch - i had the trio and every mouthful was delicious. Washed down with yummy red wine. Liam was very attentive checking in on us throughout our meal and so helpful suggesting desserts after our mega lunch. Fantastic as always.
Absolutely amazing! Delicious breakfast, perfectly cooked, beautiful decor, comfy warm atmosphere, delightful waiter ‘Tom’. Can wait to come back and try more of the delicious menu !
Went here for my 24th birthday whilst working away with my team. Had a 10/10 experience. Food was perfect. Drinks was good! Service from Liv was impeccable. Thank you for making a birthday away from friends and family enjoyable!!!
We arrived at the restaurant for a Boxing Day lunch. We were immediately greeted upon arrival and were sat at our table straight away.
As soon as we sat down a lovely chap by the name of Liam approached our table announcing he was going to looking after us and proceeded to take our drink order.
The drinks arrived quickly and all of them were very tasty.
Starters came out quickly and everything was hot and full of flavour.
Shortly after the main dishes arrived. The food was exceptional. We had 2 steak dishes and a salmon. The steaks were cooked as requested, chips were delicious and the salmon was sensational.
The service from Liam was exceptional. Not only was he quick and attentive but he went out of his way to make sure we had the best time. One thing we loved was that Liam recommended a particular sauce/mustard to try with the steak dishes and to say it was amazing would be doing it an injustice.
Good service is hard to find these days but Liam was exceptional.
Thank you to all at Harpers and a special thank you to Liam!
Super atmosphere in this impressive building and smart decor. Staff were welcoming, attentive and eager to please. Steaks were well cooked with great accompaniments (mostly in a collection of little dishes and pots). The sharing starter platter was probably the best bit, really tasty and easily served 3. Draft beer was rather expensive though and it's a shame the former microbrewery has gone.
Went with family (19 of us all together) and had a great time. Lovely food and the staff were great too. Would whole heartedly recommend!
We were really impressed with our happy and helpful waitress Sarah. Excellent food and excellent service.
On the whole we enjoyed the place, food was very enjoyable when it arrived. We we left sitting for half an hour before even given a drink. Shame really as it is a well thought out establishment.
Bit of an update.... went in for lunch the other day and had a great lunch in 30min... that's 30min in and out without rushing my food! Review raised from 3 to 4... they can be quick.
Slow is how I would describe the experience... now don't get me wrong sometimes slow is good... but alas, not the case here. You just have to wait a long time for things to happen. I have been here many times so I would by telling porkies if I said I didn't like the place.
The beer is good but not as good as it was 5 years ago. The food has really not changed in that time either... same stuff, they don't really understand the meaning of the word seasonal.
The food is reasonably priced at lunch times, slightly over priced in the evening, the portions are massive and have a classical French style; think butter, cream, booze and meat.
Sundays are the time to go though in my book the Sunday roast service is great. Still takes some time, but they do a darn good one.
The deserts are fabulous but you will never have room for one as the portions are massive (they don't understand the concept of a 'light lunch').
They don't do starters... don't bother with the bread it's not worth it.
There are not a lot of places to go for a posh night out in Swindon and, I have to be honest, this is one of the only bets if you don't want to pay for a taxi out of town. I give it three as I think it could be a lot better if only it tried... but they don't seem to care. There are other places in old town if you like a different style of cooking. I just wish they would put a bit of effort in!
Fantastic service yet again tonight. Big thank you to our server Andreea who was super friendly and helpful! Great food and perfect service!
Food was good although we will always try to draw comparisons to how the weybridge was before it became a steakhouse so maybe we were expecting a little more.
That said I would still recommend it
Lovely food and great service from Andreea. Good range of gluten free options too. Would definitely come again.
We first tried the Weighbridge on Christmas Eve 2021 and we were so impressed by not only the food, but the service by our waitress Natasha was first rate, we decided to come back on NYE .
Now although it was very busy and understandably a few issues with the service, this was very professionally dealt with by the manager.
This shows what a great place this is to go.
Great team...great food... amazing environment!!
Andrea was a fantastic host this evening. Really lovely food and atmosphere. Will definitely be visiting again!
Great food. Great service. Lovely building and history . 1 problem over priced. Drop it ill give you 5 5tars.
We opted for the roast dinner. Food was good, hot on arrival at table and arrived quickly. Our drinks were forgotten about but also brought quickly once we reminded the staff. The meat was overall good quality but the seasoning on the chicken was way too overpowering to be enjoyable. Vegetables were a good variety, but the potatoes weren't crispy, but chewy. 3* given as didn't really feel like the food justified the higher price point compared with other local offerings. Would visit again to try the main menu, as portion size and quality of other diner's meals seemed good. Staff were polite and friendly throughout.
Brilliant meal with a party of 12 people. Food was great and Asha was fantastic. Asha was fast in tasking our order, attentive and a credit to Harpers.
Took us an hour to get our mains and they forgot to serve the sauce with our steaks, then had to wait again for dessert considering it wasn't that busy as it was a weekday. The food was nice but not justified for the price.
Nice atmosphere, didn't have any food but the drinks were served really quickly 👍
Great food that catered for all our group, vegan, vegetarian, allergens, great burger and of course brilliant steak!
Really good meal here, the food was great. Atmosphere good, interesting building. Service friendly.
The weighbridge has always been known as a great venue for food. I've been a few years back and recently visited for a celebratory meal. Whilst the menu under its (presumed new ownership) is a little less bespoke looking than it used to be, everyone agreed the food was exceptional. I had the chateabriand (special occasion) and whilst it was quite small to share, it was delicious.
Price was alright. Nothing to write home about, it's more expensive than most, but then the food is better than most too.
Te decor inside is as good as ever, lovely setting inside.
A great option for that special occasion.
Service good and food pretty good. Children's menu not great though and could do with more options.
Excellent food and service. Interesting decor including a transparent piano and some historic photos of the weighbridge.
We had an excellent meal for 6 of us. Excellent steaks. We also appreciated how warm the restaurant was on a cold day, due to the underfloor heating.
Sunday lunch with the family last week - superb. Love the new summer terrace on a warm day
Absolutely lovely staff, cant fault anything. The place is beautiful and will defo be coming back.
Lovely pub with in house brewed beer. The reason for 4 star is bcos all the meat was a bit blend n dry althought it still pink. Too small heat therefore meat was still pink but dry.
Bit of a mixed bag this one. We were a table of 4 and ordered two starters to share. They turned up but without plates to eat off. When we asked for extra plates the waitress rolled her eyes and went off in a huff. when she eventually returned she brought only 2 plates an then quickly moved off never to be seen again.
When the new waitress turned up with our mains we were gob smacked. 3 of the thinnest rib-eyes I have ever seen and cooked to within an inch of shoe leather. We had ordered them medium. The fourth order was the weighbridge burger which was beautifully cooked and presented. We sent the steaks back and half an hour later new steaks arrived, again really thin but at least this time perfectly cooked.
The manager was most apologetic and explained that they had a combination of problems with new equipment, pingdemic and new suppliers for which we had some sympathy. Given the experience we had, we were given this meal on the house and asked to email all of the issues encountered which shows they care about the customer experience and are looking to learn and improve which is commendable.
In summary, the quality of the food when correctly cooked was excellent but there were some issues that I hope they can resolve quickly and yes I would give them another chance but will probably wait a few weeks before returning
I came here for Sunday lunch with my family today (Sunday the 14th November).
The food, cocktails, coffee and alcoholic beverages were all of good standard.
The staff on shift were also very friendly.
However, the waiting time for the food was quite long. It took an hour for the mains to arrive and about 35 minutes for the desserts to arrive.
Also, price wise, compared to other offerings in Swindon that serve food of a similar quality, this place is quite expensive, especially the drinks.
My wife & I decided to give Harper's a try after seeing good reviews about the restaurant. Our meal was very good, the steaks were cooked just as we asked. The desserts were delicious too, & our waiter Peter was very polite & helpful. Overall the food was freshly cooked & value for money. However we were looking for a nice Merlot to drink but this was absent from the wine list. I ended up with a large glass of Melbec which at over £10 was pretty steep in my opinion, even if it was a good replacement.
Overall we had a good experience & will certainly be back.
Would absolutely recommend especially on a Friday or Saturday for the live piano and singer. BEST squid in breadcrumbs I have ever had. Pleasant servers and beautiful decor
Exceptional food, amazing service!
We've had a perfect evening and have been served by a very polite and helpful young man called Tom!
The Service was excellent and quick. The steaks were cooked to our liking including the rare fillet steak. Yes it is expensive but for a tasty tender steak cooked right I am happy to pay the prices. A good night out in a lovely setting.
Late lunch for a birthday celebration. Liam was our waiter. Made us feel very welcome, brilliant service! Had a great meal. Thanks guys. The Harris's.
Great service from lovely Asha this evening. Food was brilliant quality and good price. Will definitely return.
Not the best experience. I booked a table here for my partner and I, for our weekly date night. The table was booked for 8pm so we arrived at 7:55pm and we were asked to take a seat in the bar area as they didn't have a table available for us. After 20 minutes in the bar area, where we weren't offered the option of ordering a drink, we were seated at 8:15pm.
A live act started playing guitar and singing, although it was very loud, he was brilliant and we certainly enjoyed all the music he played.
Jess was our waitress and I can't fault her at all, she was polite, had a personality and wasn't just a robot! She took our orders and it wasn't very long before the starters came out. The food was very well presented, seasoned well and tasted delicious.
After our starters we waited 45 minutes for our mains to arrive. I ordered the 16oz rib eye which was ordered medium, but unfortunately arrived blue... It was kindly returned to the kitchen and then brought back out to me around 10 minutes later. The steak had been cooked further but the outside had been burned and was really bitter to taste and yet the inside was still rare. Jess was brilliant and had the order removed from our bill as I didn't eat very much of it at all. I am not a fussy person and this is the first time I have ever returned food to a restaurant kitchen. My partner had the fillet steak and her meal was cooked lovely.
I don't think we will be returning because ultimately a steak house that can't get steak right, even on the second time of asking, sounds alarm bells and if you can't fulfill a reservation then you shouldn't allow it to be booked (we weren't the only people waiting in the bar area as there wasn't any tables). But I must say the musician and Jess the waitress were brilliant.
If you are going for quality of the food, brilliant. If you are going for good friendly staff, brilliant. However, if you are going for timeliness unfortunately not so good at all. We have had friends and family who have been visiting over past few weeks with the exact same opinion. It wasn't even busy and it took 50 minutes for the starter and a further hour afterwards for the main. Real shame because the place itself looked outstanding and staff was excellent. If I was Management I would be asking the Kitchen Staff where its all going wrong. Going there with a young family was not good, as our 7 year old son was so hungry as they Kitchen Staff forgot to make his food. The Waiter ended up asking the Manager to come over and apologise and it resulted in us getting a discount. We finished our mains at 9.15 pm couldn't be bothered to wait for dessert. Been there since just before 7 pm.
Service was ok and so was good.
Lacked ambiance and was a bit loud. Staff were a bit undertrained
We regularly travelled from South Wales to visit this establishment when it was known as The Weighbridge. This was the first time we’d been since the revamp and it was well worth it. The Fillet Steak was superb! It’s made all the difference turning the engine house doors into a glass wall… it’s so bright and open in the dining area now! A very pleasant afternoon out!
Lovely meal just off the M4 en route from Bristol to Brighton. Great steaks, lovely service and fantastic building
Visited with family for Sunday roast which was brilliant. Service was very good and the food came out within minutes of ordering which we loved. Our server was Jess and she was excellent, nothing was too much trouble. There was a good selection on the menu and I would definitely return.
Great place, great steak, lovely cool use of an old railway building...oh and good cocktails as well
Service could be a little better as the staff don’t seem to really understand fine dining or the wine menu they have, but the food was cooked perfectly and the quality of ingredients used is also very good. I highly recommend the restaurant.
Very enjoyable experience. Food good staff very friendly and welcoming
This used to be best place in Swindon. After being bought by Harper's and changed into steak house the quality went down and is not worth paying these kind of prices for what is now mediocre food. Obviously they kept the stars and reviews from the times before Harper's. This have been my place to go for years but now I'll have to go elsewhere.
You probably need a resevation. We didn't get a table but had a pint
Good beer though and a very nice looking spot.
Great service from ollie our server, sat outside on new tables and seats that were realy nice, my weighburger was delicious..booked to visit next sunday😋
The food was great. Victoria was very lovely and charismatic and provided excellent service.
Lovely Sunday roast, nice relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Highly recommend 👌🏼
No starters or fillet steak available due to “suppliers”. Has changed hands since visited last year. 1 hour wait for main course. Couldn’t risk waiting for dessert. Food was tasty but for the price it can’t be justified. All other previous visits exceeded expectations. A big shame for The Weighbridge.
Great ambience. Attentive staff. Thanks Tasha.
Caesar salad was lacking and pretty dull.
Needed more content and less lettuce.
Where was the avocado…? Pretty uninspiring.
Harpers do the most amazing brunch menu though so I’ve not been put off. I came away feeling hungry.
Gorgeous steak and lovely wine to match👌 staff were lovely too👍
We had lovely meal. I had a burger so good The service was really good. Would go back again.
Had a really enjoyable Sunday lunch, good choice of vegetables, the roast beef and the Yorkshire’s very good, it is nice to have a meal where all the items felt home cooked. The waitresses were polite positive and friendly.
My only criticism, and this is not unique to Harper’s is when the bill is presented why do the staff disappear and make you wait to actually pay it, again this might just be a irritation to me
Expensive but you don't mind paying a bit extra for quality service was good and very friendly, easy access and lots of room not cramped also lots of outdoor space 😀
Brilliant food and amazing service will definitely return!
We went on Valentine’s Day and Liam served us, all throughout the evening we was checked on frequently and speedily. Amazing service and what a lovely guy!
Had a wonderful breakfast for my birthday with a friend served by Tom on 10.03.22 great value and good service, will be back to try lunch and dinner very soon.
Great food and great service from andreaa tonight. Always a great time here. Thanks
Nice place, friend staff, food was good, a little pricy but nice for a treat.
Just had an AWESOME Valentine's Day meal tonight!!! The Chateaubriand is MAGNIFICENT!!!!
Our server Joe, is a credit to the establishment and to himself!!! We will be returning!!
Excellent team, excellent value and excellent atmosphere. We look forward to recommending to our friends
Lovely food, gorgeous looking place, lots of drinks to choose from, definitely going back
First time at Harpers, the waitress who served us was Victoria. She was very attentive and helpful and made our visit a very welcoming and pleasant experience. The food did not disappoint and we would definitely come again. Many thanks.
Went for our first proper family meal out since our daughter was born 10 months ago and with the current situation (COVID-19) we were a little bit nervous, but wanted to ‘eat out to help out’.
A very warm welcome by the manager and a full explanation of the procedures they have in place, was a little surprised that were using the normal menu compared to disposable ones but otherwise very professional.
After ordering the food and drinks the food took about 45 minutes to arrive, the food looked amazing and was about to start when I felt the food and it was all stone cold. It was like the food had been left standing for 10 minutes, not to a restaurant standard, i have had hotter food in Wetherspoons. We called a staff member over and explained the food was cold, they were completely embarrassed and apologetic taking all the food away. Another 45 minutes later the new food arrived and this time it was nice and hot.
We asked for the bill and we where disappointed to see they had not discounted the food or drinks even though we had to send meals back and waited over hour and half for food.
I am not one to complain but I was so disappointed I had to say something, the staff member apologised and went to speak to the manager. This resulted in the drinks being taken off the bill. However it would of also been nice for the manager to come over as he was only sat at the bar, if I was going to knock money off someone’s bill I think I would be saying sorry and ensuring the customers needs were met.
The restaurant staff were very nice and professional, once the food arrived hot it was lovely. Just shame it took a second attempt.
Service was outstanding and food absolutely delicious. Will defiantly come back. Thank you!
So me and my wife had a lovely valentines day lunch there. Service was 100% food 100% I would definitely recommend that Harper steakhouse.
Staff friendly - unfortunately our food was not as good as last few visits
Andreea who served us was fabulous.
Food was all very tasty,
Great food, our server Andreea was amazing
Give her a promotion, or else
Amazing food, great atmosphere and did an excellent job at adhering to all the govt covid guidelines/ getting precautions in place to keep everyone safe while feeling totally at home
Lovely place to eat the roast beef dinner was lovely. Piano music was a bit to loud and had to shout to hear each other but the food is amazing 🤩
Food is great as ever, American BBQ sharing platter. Good service
I went to Harper Steakhouse for my birthday. Not only was the food fantastic the service was on point. We had Nay as our waitress, she was 5 star. Made us fee very comfortable and was a very pleasant experience. We will return!
Good food and all the servers were so lovely
Down from London visiting family and was recommended The Weighbridge. Stylish decor, live piano player, excellent staff and delicious roast with unlimited roasties or dauphinnoise. We both had the pork which was perfectly cooked and came with crackling, veg wasn't over-cooked and the potatoes were amazing. Gravey was also top notch. As good as anything I could get in London. Would recommend.
Very good service and lovely atmosphere for a Monday lunch
Nice roast dinners here on Father's day. Good sized portions with tasty beef and pork. Extra roasties on demand was appreciated. Only minus were the Pigs in blankets which were anemic and underwhelming at £4 a portion.
Will come again though.
Lovely place, lush food, waiter service fab by Joe. Would definitely recommend 👌
Arrived and we were greeted very quickly ,we explain that 2 others were on route and could we wait before being seated.Great selection of beers and wines at the bat to choose from.Guests arrived and we ordered, now when we ordered we where not told that certain items had run out it was not until about 15 minutes later that the poor waitress had to apologise and we recorded another dish.Other than that all was good and we will return
Table was booked with code STEAK50 for 50% off food. We ordered and received a sharing plate which was a Wednesday special. Were not told when ordering that this was not included in the special offer. Were given a £10 discount but should have been a lot more off.
Food was ok but quite greasy especially the onion rings.
Went here for my 21st birthday. Was extremely happy with my meal and service. Nay was an excellent waitress, our table was very well looked after. And my steak (had the big 30oz tomahawk) was cooked to perfection. Couldn't have asked for better steak.
Not bad overall, nice decor etc but seem to run out of things like mushrooms even though set item on steak choices but conveniently wasn't mentioned... that said Some things on menu seem expensive, over £8 for the surf bit of surf and turf! For 1 prawn
Visited the weighbridge back in March and had a great meal. Return on 21st of October I'm not sure if the chef as changed but I was disappointed with the food this time round.
Very good. Nice ambience, good food and excellent service. Recommended.
Amazing food and atmosphere. Friendly staff and great service. Perfect date night!
We booked here for my mum's birthday as we were treating her to Sunday lunch and I have to be honest. The whole table was disappointed with the food. When the food came out it looked lovely with how it was presented, however the food was actually quite cold. The quality of the meat was poor with being very fatty and the roast potatoes were tasteless and hard. The veg was nice but that was the only positive with the meal. The staff were were lovely so we can't complain about the service but just disappointed with the food.
Wonderful new decor, warm and welcoming feel with classy style and colour combinations.
We went with the Philly Cheese Steak and Steak Frites with Tender Stem Broccoli. No surprise they were both beautiful made and we both had food envy!
No surprise that the food and service are still at the highest of standards. Thanks to Peter our waiter and everyone at the all new Harper’s Steakhouse at the Weighbridge.
We shall be back soon.
Liam was great. Super helpful with our little one!!
Excellent food, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Not squashed tables and never rushed. Also excellent vegan menu that really pleased two of our party.
Great tasting food. Very friendly staff. Fairly quick service. Nice ambience.
Valentine's Day meal delicious food and great service from Jack. Probably the best place to eat in Swindon ♥️♥️♥️
Breakfast was amazing, steak and eggs and a full English ordered . Great service All was amazing thanks and we will be back soon 😀
Great service, great roast options and interesting building! Would reccomend :)
Top class food, a lovely place....but all counts for nothing unless the service is right. Fortunately Lucy looked after us fantastically well. Really good at her job....
Good quality food for a reasonable price, friendly and efficient service
We had a brilliant evening at Harper's. Really great food, cocktails and all round service (special mentions to the head chef Daniel and our server Emily for making it an extra special evening).
What an amazing experience my wife and I had, the gardens and outside space were warm and inviting, inside, we were greeted with a warm smile, and shown to some comfy chairs to have a pint of amazing cider! The ambiance of the Weighbridge is like nothing else in this area, the staff were very friendly and professional, we had a starter which was superb, and the spacing between starters and main meals was not rushed and gave us a chance to chat, the steak was cooked perfectly to my wife's liking and my baby back ribs, were so tasty, the portions were very ample, very nicely laid out, we truly had an amazing experience, Ashly was very friendly and witty, and not pushy, Natalie was also smiley and very professional,
We would highly recommend this restaurant for great night out!!
Thank you for a lovely experience
Mike and Kay .
Here for lunch for about the 3rd time and I'm pleased to say its consistently good. If anything some dishes have improved. The Chicken Cesar salad for one. My friend ordered that this time and it looked great, less dressing (previously swamped), good grill marked chicken.
The Weighbridge has ambitions to be a top steak house and having tried my first one this time (8oz Prime Rib Eye), firstly well cooked exactly to order Med. Rare which goes a long way in my book. Second, the steak was super tender, fall apart almost. The onions, me personally I'd prefer a second grilled mushroom. Side salad, basic possibly 2 types of leafs and half cherry tomatoes..... needs a bit of inspiration.
Overall the Weighbridge prices are on the high side of premium, based on one steak so far, M&C still have the edge but if WB keeps working at it then it could challenge.
I will be back to try another steak in the evening and see what happens.
Service wise WB is back up there again. Laura W was our server and was great even in these trying times!!
Weighbridge is and will be recommended and I will be back.
Amazing service and decent meal!
We were served by Jessica who was lovely accommodating! Made sure we had everything we needed and checked in without being pushy. The food was nice and fresh with decent size portions, even down to the side salad. All round decent meal, highly recommend a visit.
Very busy Saturday evening. Long wait for food but it was OK once we got it. Waiter (Thomas)was good. Perhaps go earlier in the week next time!
Really enjoyable meal. My husband and myself decided we needed a good meal and this is the place to come. No starter but Steaks cooked to perfection and excellent sweets. Service was also excellent no waiting for anything we required. Thank you very much for a lovely mid week meal.
Good processes in place to handle covid as you would hope. The service was excellent from a well mannered waitress named Nay. Food was very good as you would expect from an higher class of restaurant. I had the 30 ounce Tomahawk steak that was well presented and cooked as per my request. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening and venue.
Had a lovely Sunday lunch with friends today. Quick and attentive service. Beef was amazing and lots of veggies too. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely meal. Great company. Waiter Jack very attentive and friendy
The restaurant "relaunched" last week and we were invited to a complimentary dinner. Overall, it was great! The main area of improvement in my view is the prices. I found it slightly overpriced and would perhaps think about the standard that the restaurant wants to have... With the prices that are currently applied, I would expect perfect food and service - which were both very good but not without some mistakes. And, regarding the food, for a restaurant that aims to have a high standing, I would say that there is too much choice - this usually means that most of the products aren't fresh and even homemade.
Very good, lovely food, like lovely staff nothing was to much for them. Highly recommend.
Went last night, booked online and really easy to book and good communication to remind us of booking. The meal was from the Harpers BBQ menu and was lovely, we sat outside due to Covid but the team had made it cosy with burners and candles, so a nice environment. Wear warm clothes. Our waiter was Peter who was incredibly helpful with menu and offered suggestions. Peter made us feel incredibly welcome and it was our first time out since August 2020. Had the burger with blue cheese and cajun spices and brisket and Stilton dirty fries which were scrummy. Will definitely be going back. Thank you for a lovely evening.
Love this venue. A brilliant, airy space in this re-used railways building. Service is excellent, bar is great, tasty well-cooked food with interesting variety. Enjoy it for light snack lunches and bigger meals. Excellent selection of drinks and they make their own very good beer.
A nice place, good quality food, friendly staff. On the occasion we visited a lot of the menu was out of stock as another lockdown was pending. (Not really the restaurants fault but would have been nice to know before booking) personally I felt the food was expensive compared to other places for what it was but certainly not a bad meal.
Lovely building. Mediocre food and a waitress who coughed into her hand continuously without then gelling or washing her hands!!!
Won't rush back 😶
Food good service a bit slow. Time for a game of spot the customer not too many of them about.
Relaxing amd homely atmosphere, we were looked after by Laura, polite frindly and very knowledgeable about both the food and drink options and tastes. Very attentive throughout our evening. Food was fabulous, not pretentious but great helpings presented well and tasty. Would definitely recommend 😁
Second visit. First time excellent this time not good. Very poor service very sticky table. Veg with meal was barely cooked too hard to eat. 2 hours to get 1 course. Was going for a pudding but as with the first course the waitress didn't come back to take the order until we had gone off the idea. All in all very disappointing.
Excellent calamari starter and a main course of the Weighburger. Our waitress Lucy-Anne provided a great friendly and efficient service. Highly recommend.
Absolutely delicious lunch in a very unique setting. In a old railway building (not that old in British age) but they’ve done a really nice job setting the place up. Lots of parking. Staff very friendly. Food delicious. Menu diverse.
Had an excellent value full English Breakfast, cooked to order with a generous portion. Service was a tad slow.
Great food lovely atmosphere and great service ,waitress liv was very helpful and polite,. Will definitely visit again soon
Gastro food from the 90s. Ordered beef and black pudding. Food was beautifully cooked and the steak was very tender. Shame I couldn't taste any of the beef thanks to the lake of yellow cream that seems to be liberally applied to most dishes. Black pudding had a strong enough flavour to battle through, thankfully otherwise it would have made a very grim meal. Three different dishes were ordered for the table and all three looked very similar thanks to yellow cream. If were to order again, I would ask for cream sauce as a side. I would guess the ingredients were good enough not to require covering up. All food and veggies were served nice and hot.
Has a 'smart dress' feel of a restaurant (harpist plucking away doing cover songs) but with waiting staff from a pub which felt a slightly odd mix. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Good beer on tap and the recommended glasses of wine were very good too.
I would probably go back but I would definitely avoid the overwhelming cream sauce.
The food is lovely but for the price range you can find better. The service leaves alot to be desired, frankly it is abysmal. We did not once have a waiter/waitress come to the table without having to be flagged down. With better service this would be a better rating. It does also feel a touch dated inside and no drinks menu unless requested. Altogether leaving the management questionable.
Great service from the team last night , good food and atmosphere. A special thank you to the ultimate waitress Lucy-Anne your amazing.
Lovely place to have a family meal
Went for Sunday lunch today and we're very impressed. The social distancing methods make you feel very safe, the staff are brilliant and the food was one of the best Sunday lunched I've had. Glad to see them back.
Beautiful decor that the food and cocktails live up to!
There are two separate reviews that should be left here.
Went there twice for a business dinner and I found the service very good, the craft beer excellent, but I found menu dishes interesting but a bit too expensive.
I would recommend to go there for Saturday lunch (booking in advance is required), they have a special menu that is way cheaper. Terrific food and service is still amazing. Don't forget your dessert. Their banoffee pie is the best I've ever had.
We were served by Liam and had a totally brilliant time, he was attentive, kind and totally nailed the experience. Great day.
Steak and Eggs for breakfast cooked perfectly. Lovely atmosphere and ambiance and nice staff.
Restaurant was very busy when we arrived, which is to be expected on New Year's Day. We had to wait several times (when we arrived, at the bar, and to be seated) and from the time we eventually got to order to when the food arrived was almost an hour.
However, when it did arrive the food was delicious, plentiful and well presented.
The menu has a lot of choice and a lot of exotic dishes (eg. Kangaroo & Wild Boar). The dessert menu is also plentiful and they have a separate drinks menu in addition to the wine list.
The decor of the restaurant is stylish and well presented and the atmosphere very good.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves good food, just be prepared for a leisurely experience.
This was our first visit to the Weighbridge. I planned the evening for my Partner, who had wanted to visit, I am a fussy eater, so was a little unsure. The food was delicious, the atmosphere great and the service was amazing. We have rebooked for a family celebration in November. The only downside was a family complaining over a bottle of wine, which they had quite happily drunk their way through, which was a real shame as all the staff work really hard. Thank you all for a lovely evening.
My wife and I have been avid goers of the Weighbridge for many years due to its atmosphere and quirky but delicious menu. We have been back twice since the takeover and quite honestly the portions of food have diminished drastically, the prices are not in sync, not that, that would have mattered if the food mirrored the cost, but unfortunately it does not. The staff were great, it has to be said, but the menu contains nothing special. We are on the lookout for another place we can spend our money.
The service and the food are always first class. When eating alone one quickly sees which places are only interested in big tables with big bills & big tips, they treat the solo diner quite badly. The staff at the Weighbridge are always friendly, welcoming, and patient. Very pleasant environment, even more so when the pianist plays.
What a wonderful space with great food! Thomas is a great and cheerful waiter.
Nice food but of variable quality. Have eaten here several times and have had to send food back because it was over salted, and today the kitchen had run out of bacon - tricky if you want to order liver and bacon or the bubble and squeak with eggs and bacon. Portion sizes are generous though and the desserts spectacular. Very nice staff.
Second review, this one is not paid or subsidised, service was great, fillet steak was perfect. Lovely night in a beautiful setting.
We decided to try the Weighbridge for Sunday lunch as we hadn’t been for quite a while. There had been a change of owners and we had heard not so good reports about the place. We decided to try the sharing platter for 3. It worked out a bit better value. The waitress brought out a plate with beef, pork and chicken with roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and cauliflower cheese. A separate dish with carrots, broccoli and red cabbage was also brought out with a jug of gravy. The whole thing was lovely, the meats were cooked to perfection as were the vegetables. There was so much that we couldn’t manage all of it and couldn’t manage a pudding either unfortunately. We will definitely be paying the Weighbridge another visit for Sunday lunch in the near future.
Went for lunch. Bit apprehensive as not been for couple years and since take over and had heard a few bad reviews. Was empty almost at 1pm.
However we were delighted to find a very different menu ( now serving sandwiches ), and a much smaller menu.
I had the Ceaser salad starter and have to say it's one of the nicest put together ceaser salads I've ever had. Husband had soup and said was delicious. Both had burgers which were outstanding, followed by awesome puddings.
The service was good and quite quick and the staff were friendly and chatty including the chef. ( However I'm sure when busy they wouldn't have the time to chat so much ).
Overall I'm surprised they weren't busier as we had a delicious meal and a good experience....
We have been here multiple times and each time we have had amazing food and great service. Would recommend anyone who wants a nice treat for lunch or dinner
The food was tasty and filling, fries were a little cold but we had attentive and friendly service from Natalie that more than made up for any issues!
Excellent meal and Jess, our waitress was great!!
Lovely steak lovely wine and even better service
You can;t leave here hungry ! Food is very good with ample servings. And a decent selection of beer. This is my favourite restaurant when visiting Swindon. The sausage plate is for sure a dish where you'll need help to finish the plate !
Was absolutely awesome food was lush
I found this restaurant by chance while exploring!
My daughter took me there today for my birthday lunch and it was amazing. Excellent food with good value prices.
As a railway enthusiast the building is of significant interest too - architects drawings of the building in 1906 and 1918 and old photos on the walls.
Possibly the best restaurant in Swindon!
Freshly cooked food. Quick and efficient service. Looked after by Sarah :)
Amazing place, beautiful decor, staff helpful, one of the best places I have eaten.
Best food in Swindon by a good margin. Absolutely gorgeous food, huge portions, extensive wine list and friendly staff. Plus they brew their own beer on site. If I had a wish list it would be the possible addition of some specials to freshen the menu up a bit and maybe a microbrewed lager to compliment their impressive range of beers and stouts. Book at least a week in advance. This place is always fully booked and for good reason.
Beautiful place, staff where brilliant, food was gorgeous. I will definitely be visiting again. Well done to all the team...
Little bit pricy,but highly recommended.
Very nice atmosphere, delicious food and lovely service.
Lovely place with delicious food and amazing staff.
Went for a family event. We had pre-ordered our food due to the amount in our party but food was delivered promptly. Portion size was easily more than enough. Certainly won't starve. Every meal we saw go by looked stunning. I had game pie (basically stu with a lid) but it was so tasty. Great for family a get together or works do or even a hot date.
Great setting and really enjoyable, the decor is in keeping with the history and some nice modern bits thrown in. Really friendly staff, we had a drink and didn't eat on this occasion. Can't wait to try the food
Woow. Fantastic service and amazing meal. We will be back
A lovely venue and atmosphere but a little pricey for what you get. I ordered the venison for a main which was served with half a roasted cabbage... I paid over £18 for. I was served with 2 small medallions of saddle of venison in proportion to a chunk on cabbage... not impressive. Wine menu is ok. My partner is a ceoliac. On the website it seems that there is a considerable amount of choice in comparison to that actual menu in the establishment. When the table was offered complimentary bread no GF option was made available but when prompted she recieved a whole bread role... which was then replicated when she ordered the mushrooms on toast..... she recieved some mushrooms on a half bread role..... oh dear.
All in all fur coat no knickers.... posh venue, nice bar but over expensive underwhelming food. If you want a decent steak, go to Miller and Carter, if you want a decent meal under a £100 quid maybe think twice before being disappointed.
Quite disappointed that the menu had changed. It use to be awesome before. It's now a traditional stake house. Looks great and staff are great but food is not good. There are much better options in Swindon for a stake.
Second time I have visited the Weighbridge brewhouse on both occasions have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Not a huge menu at lunchtime but the food is absolutely delicious and the service from both the bar staff and waitress was fantastic The only downside is you might have to wait a short while for your food but in my book the wait is not too long and it's a good sign that the food is being freshly prepared. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this establishment.
Really good food. Scrummy calamari. The steak was cooked perfectly. Busy, efficient and friendly staff.
A great meal - and not for the first time. The quality of food is excellent, and the £12 'light lunch' menu is impressive value. We would've loved desert but the 'light lunch' menu was plenty! Have been before and would definitely go back.
Was distinctly underwhelmed. Staff were good as was the beer from there microbrewery. Just found the menu a bit so so and nothing to write home about. Will go back in the evening and see if its any better.
First visit here and certainly won't be my last: the venue is fantastic and the food excellent.
I was taken to the Weighbridge to celebrate by birthday. Picked because we knew that it was renovated and run by the people who own the Three Crowns in Brinkworth - and we knew that the food there is some of the best in the area by some way.
The decor and furnishing was done to a high quality and very stylish and the atmosphere was very good. The downstairs is a large area that would be fantastic for a larger party: light and airy with a great buzz going on. We opted to sit upstairs, which has a cosier, more intimate feel that I'd recommend for a couple out on a date.
The food & wine didn't disappoint either, the only tricky bit was having to choose only one thing from the menu - I'll have to go back just to try the others! There was a good selection of wines and food to please everyone. The food was top-notch, as expected. Quality ingredients cooked to perfection. You can see a sample menu on their web site - well worth a look. I had the venison on a bed of mustard mash, which was gorgeous.
I'll be back.
Great food and great staff, very good service!
Had a great meal for Christmas eve
Food was amazing. Only thing I would say is the service is very slow even when ordering drinks
Very comfortable venue and great service. Food was ok, but didn't quite live up to expectations.
Main courses were lovely. Focaccia starter was quite dry. Service could have been better, no smiles, drink orders forgotten and we weren't asked if the meal was ok until they took our plates away. Hard to get anyone's attention when you do want something.
Back to its best again. A good menu with quality sourced ingredients. Staff were good and friendly too
Booked a meal for or eldest sons birthday. Table booked for 8pm, arrived on time taken straight to table. Had to wait 20 minutes until someone came to ask if we wanted a drink. Ordered meal, waited another 30 minutes. Nobody came back to ask if we wanted more drinks for the entire 2and half hours we were there! Meal was nice but over priced. Ordered desserts at 9.30, half hour later no sign of desserts. Asked to cancel desserts and just get the bill. Took another 30 minutes. No apology from anyone. Overall food was ok but over priced and shocking service!
Lovely friendly atmosphere staff were very helpful good knowledge of menus would highly recommend to friends and family.
Look forward to our next visit
Thank you for great quality food.
Very good service and food. Would visit again
Amazing place serving amazing food. We opted for steaks and I swear they were the best we have ever had.
Great evening last night, fantastic with an unusual allergy (garlic), nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back. Hettie was amazingly helpful.
I was taken here for Sunday Lunch by my partner. The food was absolutely delightful. We both had Roast Beef which was cooked to perfection and the desserts were to die for!! We will definitely be returning again and would highly recommend a visit.
Nice place and good beef steak
Food was really good, a decent menu and nice decor. The service really let them down really poor despite it being quiet. Everyone was pleasant enough, but it was just a bit of a shambles. I wouldn't hurry back.
Beautiful food, served by very friendly staff. The building, a former railway shed, is very well presented as a gastronomy pub (enfasis on the gastro) and whilst suffers a little from being an echoey space, the atmosphere seems to benefit from it. The portions would not disappoint the former workforce, but the quality does not suffer.
Relaunched this week and was worth another visit.
Warm welcome, nice staff and lovely food, would recommend the Tbone steak (cooked perfectly).
We absolutely enjoyed our mains and do recommend coming here, especially if you haven't been for a while...
Well done and keep this up Weighbridge.
Good food and service but would be better to be told what is not available before choosing on the menu.
Nice food but came out cold
Good quality food and great service well recommended
Lovely atmosphere Friday nights and great food and good beer! However, lunchtime service is a real disaster. Long long wait, great soup but served with stale bread, beer was off and ciabatta not fresh. Very disappointed.
Good atmosphere, great food.
Really great food, have a steak!
Lovely atmosphere inside, prices are way over the odds for what you could get at another resturant of the same standard. Service was poor, we waited 25 miniutes just for drink orders.
£100 for 2 meals and botttle of wine, my opinion i would not be in a hurry to try the place again,it is most defiantly over rated.
Food alright. The lady who serve us needs to take care about her hygiene, dirt under her nails.
They can't cook sprouts, had a lovely lunch, would have been five stars had the sprouts been cooked they were not edible
Great service and set up. Food was fantastic and served in good time. Felt relaxed but service was there if needed
Service excellent thank you Jess.
Food excellent too steak cooked to perfection.
Looking forward to going back soon.
Use to come here a lot until management changed and really went down hill. Seems things have changed again and pleased to say todays visit was excellent, service was spot on and the food was fantastic. Will definately be returning again.
Great food and great service lively place to spend an evening
Came for a works Christmas party. Food was good, and the beer was decent, but I did have to send my first pint back as it was cloudy - should've known better. Other than that, nice environment.
Very nice! Good service and tasty food. Quite expensive though and I've had exactly the same quality of food at cheaper restaurants and got a much bigger portion! I would still recommend.
Amazing venue, with great history. I had the the bacon and local cheese sandwich which came with a cup of soup and fries, delicious and amazing value. Very happy to recommend the Weighbridge.
as so looking forward to my visit to the Weybridge. I ordered a steak medium to well and when it turned up it was almost mooing. I returned the steak and when I got it back again it was'nt much better.. I was told that this is how the chef likes to serve the steaks. Why ask me how I would like it then? Dissapointed.
Good portions, lovely food, reasonable prices at lunchtime, very nice ambiance, friendly staff.
Had a great evening on New Years Eve, food and service was good. Thank you
We were served by Laura, she was accommodating and provided great service. The food was lovely and I would definitely recommend.
When here for my Mum birthday meal and it was very yummy. The beef was excellent and it melted in my mouth. The staff where very friendly and welcoming.
Lovely meal
Took a long time to be served the food
Amazing food and great atmosphere. You won’t leave here feeling hungry! Their lunch menu is particularly great and still really filling!
Slightly on the expensive side, but a fabulous place to dine in. Recommend the intimate dining area for couples. Service was top class with generous portions. Could do with a bit more starters on the menu.
Stunning place to dine with me and my wife - had a really lovely date evening and was made even better by the friendly service. thank you for our gorgeous meals.
Very tasty food, good portion size. Good selection of draught beers 👍🏼
Excellent Sunday lunch, great attentive service from Liam.
Food was good standard steak cooked well unfortunately service was on the slow side and some side dishes were very late, and seasoning to the children's fries was way to salty
Never been here before, the burger I had was excellent. Unfortunately very slow service
I love the place for the decoration the space lovely food and the staff are very attentive also the music which is live. One of the better places to treat your lady or to have a special event.
This was our first ever visit. Great steak, great service. Will be back again soon.
Lovely place with nice food and very friendly staff. My only criticisms are that the food was a bit slow coming and they had no pale ales but other than that it was a lovely meal.
Nice place and friendly staff. Service slow and when you pay nearly £30 for fillet steak, you really expect something exceptional. I can honestly say I have had better at half the price. Slightly overrated!
Excellent steakhouse, excellent service... and really good food and a better wine list than many. We're definitely going back!
Good quality food but, very expensive.
Was a really nice meal couldn't complain at all worth going I know we will be very nice staff all friendly
This was a lunchtime visit. Excellent choice available. Would recommend that any dish that includes a sauce or jus, ask for this to be served separate if you don't like too much. Nice for a special occasion on a medium budget.
We went for a 30th Birthday meal with my 2 children. The staff were friendly and the children enjoyed their meal. We all had a great meal. Thank you
Excellent historical venue with great beers served by friendly and professional staff. Highly recommended.
Loved the place. Has great ambience and plenty of parking. Both outdoor and indoor seating
First time there for my birthday. Excellent service, amazing staff and wonderful vibe
Excellent food, well priced in a convenient location.
Fantastic food. Quite a higher price but definitely great quality food. Best steak I've had in a restaurant.
Food is always very good and staff very friendly and helpful. Only disappointment can be the waiting time to be served food and further course options. But the wait is worth it.
Great building
Great Service
Had fillet steak with the garlic and butter sauce—amazing food
Definitely recommend
Fairly average food for the price charged, and service wasn't great
Once again, an amazing place to eat.
Went there for my daughters birthday and had a fantastic time. Food and service could not be faulted. We could have been sat back in the Three Crowns. Would definitely go there again.
Menu was a little less unusual than historically. But, food was good quality, service was great and the live music was fabulous.
Simple and easy - nice people
I just had a wonderful meal here, the food was beautiful. The staff are amazing, there service is impeccable, I will definitely be visiting here again!😉👍
Truly beautiful setting, and the food is just as good
Skin on the Fish (& Chips). Caesar salad poorly presented, barely any chicken or dressing, chopped up lettuce no baby lettuce or much of anything. It was poorest caesar I've ever had. Quality has really gone down since my last visit.
Love this place. Venue 5 star, very well presented, service 5 star, food 5 star. You cannot go wrong if you choose to visit. Caters for all tastes.
Great venue, really friendly and helpful staff and really tasty food.. Could not have asked for or wanted more.. 10 out of 10
WENT THERE JUST FOR DRINKS
Nice interiors but prices and very poor choice (as for former Brewery) of beer
Very nice dining experience and ambience.
Delicious meal for a Sunday roast
The staff were friendly and attentive and the food tasted great! It also has a lovely cosy vibe, I would definitely recommend!
Beautiful building. Well stocked bar.
Friendly staff.
Food ok
Very good meal in a stunning building. Steak was cooked perfectly. Decent wine list and tasty sweets.
Great food and relaxing atmosphere.
Food was amazing, Very tasty. Staff were friendly.
Wonderful Steak 👏 and superb service.
Excellent, made even better by the lovely waitress's with a bow in her hair, great atmosphere, great food and wine, very clean, highly recommend a visit
Another fantastic meal at the Weighbridge and very enjoyable Sunday afternoon dining experience. The service was great and no complaints whatsoever!
Service wasn't great at about 60% full. Food was okay.
Fantastic place, food was 5* as was the service, Jess the server went out of her way to help and was a pleasure.
Our good friends Jacquie & Steve recommend this restaurant ...the food and service were superb, the atmosphere too.. we will return soon ...thank you for a great evening ..
Had the duck confit and it was absolutely incrredible. Really nice old building and what they've done with the interior is great. Lovely food and the portions were huge. Would highly recommend.
Lovely Evening
The Food - Fantastic ✔️
Drinks - Devine ✔️
Atmosphere/Service - Exquisite ✔️
Tick,Tick,Tick x
Can be overly rich (depends on your taste of course) and could do with more veg. Nice beers and good service. Amazing deserts. Prepare to be stuffed!
Andreea gave great service!
Excellent lunch - plenty of choice.
Called in by chance - will definitely come again.
Best I have experienced in Swindon
Expensive and the world greatest service but I really like this place. The brewery make some fab ales and the food is well cooked but most of all its in a great building.
Service and ambience both good. The food is always a bit disappointing though. Under the previous ownership the food was great but the service comically terrible.
Went there with a 5yr old boy and they treated him with such kindness, he felt welcome so didnt misbehave at all. Will 100% be going there again next payday
Great food.....fantastic cocktails...friendly and really helpful staff...wonderful venue and railway history....subtle live music on Fridays and Saturdays..the Weighbridge has everything...
Good service & beer & food
Really good food and service. First time there since ownership changed, will be very happy to go back.
the building and settings are nice, the food apart from being expensive, well i didnt enjoy, probably my fault for picking the wrong food..The seasonal vegatables consisted of carrotts/red cabbage and corgettes (i dislike corgettes big time..!!)..the pudding was the main disaster.. bread and butter pudding was probably the worse ive had..!!, after complaining still had to pay the £7.50..!!!..be a long time before i go back...the wife on the other hand loved it.....
Great xmas lunch. Great service great atmosphere
Excellent pub /restaurant, the food is pretty good and very reasonably priced, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the surroundings are very good, well worth a visit
Amazing breakfast for an amazing price! Couldn't ask for better
Friendly staff , amazing food!
overall a great evening! 10/10!!!
Lovely meal in a beautiful building, with great service from our waiter Daniel. We look forward to returning.
Food ok, not cheap but reasonable value for money. Good service in restaurant with USP of in house brewery.
A nice setting for a meal. Convivial. Enjoyable pork belly. Real ales c/o Micro-brewery on site. Relaxing.
Very nice staff and place. The food did disappoint. Cannot recommend the chef's beef burger
