We went today for lunch. The atmosphere was fantastic. The service was really good. The food tasted wonderful and was so well presented. I would highly recommend trying this place out. The team have done a wonderful job creating a cosy and chilled place to go for a meal.

A memorable lunch time experience to celebrate a family birthday. Every course burst with multiple tastes. The juices and gravy with each course were full of flavour and yummy. The wine choice - Sicilian white, was fruity, juicy and fresh. We weren’t rushed into getting our orders to the chef and all cuisine questions answered knowledgeably and with enthusiasm. We have now twice taken the culinary journey of Richard’s monthly tasting menu and I feel compelled to review, rave and rebook. From the rustic charm emanating out from the undulating beams and cast iron fire place fittings; to the quaint character of the rear courtyard and retro waitress aprons. The moment you enter this wonderfully beautiful and quirky building to be greeted by enthusiastic and happy staff, you feel relaxed; in safe hands. Each member of the staff are knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. Whether you have a complicated dietary or allergen request or just a simple preference to how you have your cocktail created, nothing is too much trouble. I won’t give complete plate breakdowns of the food, as their monthly changing menu is best sampled with a side dish of intrigue and anticipation. Some highlights include exceptional quality of meat and fish, brave and palate evolving pairing of flavours (strawberries with beef, cream cheese and ice cream) and creatively beautiful presentation and texture. Vibrant clashing colours, black pepper formed into croutons, gelled pickles, foams and sauces that compliment and bring together flavour combinations added carefully to your plate at the table by your server. Should you choose to take the tasting adventure then I highly recommend the wine flight to accompany. This is not a simple white wine and fish, red wine and beef pairing scenario. There is clearly time, effort and understanding that goes into carefully selecting the appropriate partner to each of Richard’s dishes by Vicki, sommelier of experience. Each glass is poured at your table before the next course and is explained by origin, grape, year and more importantly in taste and tone; specifically how it will evolve when taken with its paired dish. This is a restaurant of incredible modern invention nestled in a cosy cottage. The staff are friendly and casual in conversation, without losing professionalism or quality. It could quite simply not be replicated, it’s a family restaurant with the best food we have ever eaten. We can not wait to be back for next month’s tasting menu.

We’ve recently moved to Frodsham and what a treat it is to have Restaurant Next Door on our doorstep. We all enjoyed the tasting menu and the paired wines were delightful, we’re looking forward to coming again!

Yet again went for lunch with a friend. Booked the day before and they couldn't be more helpful as in this case my friend doesn't eat meat. Service excellent food superb... my friend said that the sauces for the main course were the stuff of master chef at its best. I cannot recommend this little home run restaurant enough.

We visited for a celebratory lunch recently. Several of us are serious foodies and we enjoyed the meal. Despite enjoying two courses, the younger couple felt compelled to get a snack immediately after lunch suggesting that the portions, while tasty and beautifully presented, may be a bit meagre.

Discovered this gem on way to Chester. They did coffee after 7pm. A far better ry from the townie beer crowd which Frodsham is famous for in the evening. Very courteous and modern staff. Excellent atmosphere, cosy and felt like a casual Barcelona eatery. Changed one of the coffees with no fuss. Pity they are closed tomorrow. Would be back for pizza in a flash. We'll done to management and team.

I can't praise Next Door enough; probably the best service and food that I've ever had. The team were unbelievably accommodating to my dietry requirements, which is both incredibly rare at this high standard, but moreover testament to the chefs versatility in producing exceptional food ad-hoc. We live across the road from this place and just had to chance to enjoy their fabulous menu. People have moaned about the portion sizes but we can honestly say that those comments are nonsense. We really enjoyed the beautiful flavours and presentation the staff could not have been anymore than first class. We ate here at lunchtime for mine and my partners anniversary and couldn’t have had a better experience, the owners on front of house were extremely welcoming and attentive, Zara was also very friendly. The food was extremely well presented, well thought out and fantastic size, we left very full so disagree with previous reviews as we couldn’t even manage dessert! Family celebration for 8 at lunchtime today. Could not fault food, service, ambience or attention to detail. Lunch menu has 3 courses each with 3 options, main only £11, 2 courses £17.50, 3 courses £22. Staff were friendly and attentive, each dish was a delight in both flavours and presentation. What a wonderful place - great food in a fantastic building with lovely staff. Limited menu, but good alternatives, beautifully presented and full of flavour. The wine list is also limited, but what a fabulous selection. It isn`t dirt cheap, but considering the quality of the food, the location and the service it is very reasonably priced. We are lucky to have it!

Wonderful food. Dinner is pricey but fine for a special occasion. Duck breast was £21, red wine £19 - 45. We booked six weeks ahead but couldn't get 7.00 on a Saturday, it's so popular. Parking wasn't possible outside, so had to go to Eddisbury Square a quarter mile away. Service slow when busy, but very attentive. Quite noisy with the small areas and hard surfaces. This is definitely a place for our birthday and anniversary indulgence.

Visiting this restaurant, and the beautiful couple who owns it, was hands down the loveliest experience we had on our holiday. If the United Kingdom has a reputation for bad food, this eatery single-handedly abolishes that school of thought. I came with a party of five who unanimously agreed that this was the best meal any of us had ever experienced. We were seated right away and served poppy seed cornbread muffins to curb our American appetites. Our six-course journey began with a braised hare appetizer and a hearty and unique purple potato soup to kick-start our palate. Next, came the entrees: a roasted halibut, garnished with bubbly caviar, and robust chicken breast with root vegetables. We finished with a pumpkin pie with fresh cranberries and pumpkin seeds which was out of this world, and a rich homemade vanilla bean ice cream fit to segue into the sweetest of dreams. Apparently as a joke, someone placed a pristine and obviously untouched set of salt and pepper shakers in the center of the table; I can't imagine who would dare compromise their repast with the unnecessary and superfluous addition of either. From the celebratory champagne that Vicki paired so well with our meal, to the signature espresso cocktails, to the exquisite samplings from Richard's kitchen, this gem of Frodsham will shine brighter and brighter in years to come -- it may very well boast the finest flavors in England. PS: May the hospitality staff -- Jack, Zara, Martina, Courtney, and Emilia -- continue to serve this one-of-a-kind dining experience with poise and confidence; a special thanks to all of you.

Next Door is the highlight of Frodsham. The food is always perfect (the chocolate truffles are a highlight) and cooked to perfection with high quality ingredients. The portions aren't the biggest, but they taste amazing with every bite. The welcome from staff is warm, attentive and prompt without being overbearing. If it was up to me, we'd be eating here every night.
