I tend to check out the best burger places I can when on a visit, and Burgsy's came up as the top one. Very impressed with the size of the burgers, and the fries too. I got the Jessie James burger with lumberjack fries. Although the portion didn't look huge on the plate, it was more than enough to fill me up and I don't usually get that full. Burger was juicy and jam packed with flavour and I could eat those lumberjack fries all day. The rest of my group had snores for pudding which was quite the experience itself!

Super tasty burgers, good ingredients & well cooked. Fancy fries (rocket, goats cheese, mayo & balsamic reduction) were great and not too "goaty". Pulled pork topped fries were also great and tasty BBQ sauce. Service was attentive and friendly. Only downsides were a wobbly table 😄 and the place not being very busy, but we did literally arrive as they opened at 5pm. Hopefully they got busier because it was great food.

This restaurant has been decorated in a Wild West theme, and has a wide selection of burgers on the menu. The flavour of the burgers was great, but the standout feature was the sauce served alongside, which is made in the restaurant and is simply sensational.

Easy to see why this is so well regarded. I had a delicious bean burger served with skinny fries generous portions really nice sauce. My wife enjoyed her Chicken burger and our youngest ordered from the children's menu and described her burger as delicious. Daughter also enjoyed cooking her own marshmallow smores at the table. Bill for three of us came to under £45 really efficient friendly service. Looking forward to going back.

Such a lovely burger! I’m not from York but we searched nicest burger in York and this was the first that appeared… going from this we weren’t 100% convinced but we thought why not let’s give it a go! And my my…weren’t we proved completely wrong! Their burger was amazing, absolutely beautiful, loved every single bite of my “Texas John” burger, spice was perfect and flavour was off the chart. Customer service was perfect and wouldn’t change a single thing about my trip! Massive plus was a fella coming from Ireland who loves a drink of whiskey… they had bushmills!! Went perfect with that meal :)

Easily the best burgers in the city! This place is a hidden gem, and it’s even better now with the outside heated seating at the front. The serving staff are lovely and there’s a nice chilled vibe. It’s also independent and family run 💥

What a place. Went there on a whim yesterday evening looking for somewhere that did burgers. Luckily they had space for us as normally you would have to book. Upon entry the staff were lovely. I ordered a bacon mushroom and bbq sauce burger while my girlfriend ordered a goats cheese rocket and balsamic vinegar burger both were accompanied with very tasty skinny fries. Overall would highly recommend to all.

We made a large group booking here on Saturday evening after reading all of the amazing reviews. We weren't disapponted. There's a good menu with a great selection of burgers. The food was beautiful. The service from the restaurant team was brilliant too and they couldn't be more helpful! I'll definitely be back.

Gluten free everything! Buns for burgers available in regular and gluten free. Even chips fried in gluten free oil. All sauces gluten free and tons of dairy free dining options for most items. Food outstanding, hot and fresh. I’ll post a longer review and pictures when we return this week😁.

If I could give a 6 star review I would. Firstly the food was fantastic, that burger was one of the best ones i have ever had. Secondly the waiters in there were first class people, so kind and im struggling to think of words of how to describe them as they were so nice. Lastly it was my birthday when i visited here and i got a candle on my burger which i think was a great touch. My only criticism and this is the only one that could even be possibly strung up is that the tables were slanted, when i came in i thought it was a bit odd and a glass nearly went flying off my table (i caught it) but i would imagine they may here that a lot and that is the only thing they need to improve on.

Found myself at a loose end for an evening in York so went for a walk around the city looking for somewhere to eat, I wanted a decent burger but not from a fast food chain or a dodgy kebab/pizza takeaway. And I wanted to do it without using Google 😄 After a while I thought I was going to fail my challenge and then I found Burgsys!! Wow, what a burger! It ticked all the boxes - Handmade Full of flavour A little bit messy Good portion The dirty fries upgrade is an absolute must!! Service was fantastic, genuine, informative and relaxed!! Will definitely go again if I get the chance and I would highly recommend to anyone to give them a try.

Visiting York we (2 adults) decided on lunch here. Friendly staff, quiet atmosphere and we were able to sit at a table of our choice. Our orders were taken promptly. We ordered 2 cokes (small bottles, no glasses) and the burgers, with fries, arrived shortly after. Each burger was substantial and with various toppings in a brioche bun. One burger was in the region of £12+ and the other £13+. Our tabled rocked, no condiments were in evidence and the skinny fries were cooked from frozen and certainly not prepped from raw. The portions were definitely sufficient and the burgers were tasty. The fries were a let down given the quality of the burger, which was a shame.

Table of 4 visited evening of Friday 29th April 2022. Couldn't fault the food, probably the best burger I've ever had. Also, the food came out quite promptly once ordered. Prices are high, but as a one-off can accept that. What I did find unacceptable was the level of service. At times three young staff in the front room were chatting/giggling to each other, sipping drinks, cleaning cutlery and folding napkins. In fact, they were doing pretty much everything but taking customers' order. It wasn't even that busy. The lack of service was evident at the end too when wanting to pay the bill. By far the worst aspect of the evening was having to endure young Kurt Hummel constantly chewing gum throughout the evening. I mean come on, how unprofessional.

Came here with 3 friends. I’ve definitely had better burgers. The beef didn’t have any real flavour, the chips were really good and the garlic sauce. The barbecue sauce was very thin, you might like it?! Service wasn’t great, not exactly friendly but the woman did double check if our food was ok for us which is a good sign. I could see where the chefs cook the food and could see they took care of presentation etc, just the meat itself wasn’t great.

By far one of best 'stumble' into foods ever! We opted for the loaded fries as a light lunch, and honestly while the fries are basic fries, what is loaded is what makes it amazing! The lumberjack, get it, do it!! The BEST loaded fries I've had (and I've had my fair share) The two waiting staff did amazing given it was lunch time and it was busy, both an utter delight when serving, but not in that fake - I have to be nice to you - type way. Lovely little outdoor seating, good size indoors (more seating to the back as well) although might be restrictive for wheelchairs, as like most places in York, you do have steps. The place is dog friendly, which is always nice to see. We will be going back as the burgers looked blooming amazing, and had it not been a 'lighter' lunch the burger would have been the first choice.

Had the buffalo bill, coleslaw and loaded lumberjack fries. Second time coming here now, I have to say its worth the +1 hour drive, food is absolutely phenomenal. Staff is friendly and attentive, I really recommend this place to anyone who's in town and wants a proper burger. Even the ketchup is made inhouse, you can tell the food is made with passion, because definitely tastes the part. Give it a go! You won't be disappointed!

In a word, WOW! So glad we stumbled across this lovely restaurant, we sat outside on the patio. Well worth every penny - genuinely one of the best burgers I've ever had (i had the vegetarian 'Wild Bill Hickock' - my man had the beef 'Blue Jack' and said the same). We substituted fries for salads with our burgers, and shared a platter of fries with the trio of dips, all of which were delicious and the fries portion was HUGE. Staff were friendly, accommodating and attentive without being intrusive. We would eat here every week if we lived in the area, and it being an independent family business made the experience all the better. Keep doing what you are doing, Burgsy's, a true gem in York's Crown.

Burgers were underseasoned but quality meat and well cooked. Fries were overseasoned and the caramelised onion topping on the lumberjack fried was a little too sweet for my taste. Had a lovely glass of merlot and wonderful service when we were there. Recommend, but maybe ask to salt your own fries. Had the blue cheese burger myself which was actually ok seasoning wise thanks to the choice of a really strong, flavourful blue. You can see the chefs at work and it's clear a lot of love and craft goes into the food.

Not only one of the best places for a burger, their wine selection is outstanding they also have great Covid-19 politics, meaning you can still enjoy a fantastic meal. Almost like the old days. I hadn't been out to a restaurant with my wife for 20 months due to the fear of catching covid and this is where we wanted to first. The food was brought out quickly, the staff were all wearing masks and we felt safe. I hope they keep the outside seating when things do get better.

A very pleasant place. A man with glasses worked on renovations so quietly I could barely even tell he was making them, let alone building what looked to be a bunker, and a Russian waiter told me about a young kid he's good friends with. The latter, a lad by the name of Alexei, isn't his grandson; they're just very good friends. I especially like the decor. Very sunny and optimistic, even though it wasn't blindingly bright. There was no hope of disappointment under the Black Sun!

Waitress was absolutely lovely, and a hard worker. They accommodated us swiftly without a booking. Good array of burgers to choose from. The disappointment was the meat itself - I had the Jesse Jay burger (gherkins, honey mustard and cheese) and whilst the additional ingredients tasted fine, the burger meat just seemed bland and nondescript - something I could have put together at home using a frozen burger. The service was great though, and as an independent restaurant, I'm glad to see they were getting a lot of passing trade and bookings. If you're after a burger, this place is fine. Think it was around £12 for burger and chips

Went there today for the first time. Great place. Deceptively larger inside. Great simple menu. Tried the pulled pork burger as well as the Jessie James burger. Both really tasty and cooked well. Bought the fries to share and the portion was huuuuge and served with 3 tasty homemade sauces. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Prices were spot on for what you get. Decent selection of beers and wines at very good prices. No complaints here. Got handed a voucher on the way out and will definitely revisit.

We visited for lunch on Saturday, we didn't have a booking but the friendly staff managed to get us a table. The service was very good and not rushed or pressured, we got our drinks straight away and placed our food order after deciding on the great selection of food. I had the Blue Jack and my wife had the Texas John, my burger was huge!! And the Balsamic, Rocket and Blue cheese was an incredible combo, my wife's was for someone who likes a little heat and it had a nice spicy kick to it, they both came with fries and BBQ dip. We finished our meal and were both stuffed and had no room for dessert but had a couple of coffees while we came out of our food coma. All in all Burgsys is a hidden gem in York and would definitely go again when we come back.

Had a night away in York with the family, and we were struggling to choose a suitable family restaurant. We took a punt on Burgsys, and we were so glad we did! The burger was by far the best I've ever had. You can tell they're made with love and high quality ingredients, and then cooked to perfection. Portion size is big so its good value for money. To top it all off, service was excellent and it felt a very covid safe environment.

Great little family owned and run restaurant. Principally they do burgers, but they have chicken and vegetarian options available too. The food was very tasty, generous portions and the dips/sauces are made on the premises and are delicious and unique. The service was fast and friendly, without there being the slightest hint of a rush. I would come back here in a heartbeat next time I visit York.

Nice atmosphere and amazing burgers. Meat is juicy and very tasty. All ingredients are fresh. Staff is very friendly and helpful too. Skinny chips are very delicious as well and I loved to eat with homemade sauces. I was planning to buy a bottle of mayo and ketchup but they’re not selling yet unfortunately. Everything was perfect and I’d definitely visit again on my next trip to York.
