I cannot recommend this restaurant enough, the food was delicious and clearly made fresh with the finest ingredients, it was so flavoursome. The desserts especially were incredible, so well made and rich. The setting is perfect, a truly unique building in a quiet peaceful village setting, you can even see some horses from your table. As for the service, I cannot praise the waiting staff enough. They were attentive, friendly, clearly passionate for the food and willing to go that extra mile to make our dining experience memorable. They even had the whole team sing happy birthday and were able to create a custom cocktail just perfect. If you haven’t eaten here then you absolutely need too!

Excellent experience end-to-end. The staff were very friendly, knew the entire menu and were super attentive (refreshing as it's hard to get good service these days). The food was otherworldly - we had the baked monkfish and langoustines (wow - try this!), and the vegan aubergine gnocchi (also great) - fig and pear frangipane tart for dessert. Every component of every dish was fantastic. I highly recommend this place - we'll be visiting often, just disappointed it took us this long to come across! Well done to the owners and staff. Keep up the amazing work.

Beautiful restaurant in a very unique, out of the way setting. Situated in what was once a mill, the place is warm, cozy and inviting. Friendly attentive staff and lovely authentic Sardinian dishes complete this great package.

Lovely place to eat, my wife had the black dough calzone and I had ravioli. Both were delicious. Starters for me Argentinian prawns in a chili sauce. These were beautiful. Staff very friendly and genuine Italian.

It's always a wonderful experience from start to finish, the receptionist's service and the waiters always attentive and smiling with a charisma that makes me very comfortable. Booked 5 minutes before we arrived, on a Saturday. Usually a red flag but we thought what the hell. Greeted by lovely friendly welcoming staff and a menu that looked incredible. The prices are reasonable (three courses for 2 of us including drinks was a little over £50) and the food it's self is incredible. Proper Italian food, cooked with love and served with personality. Really loved it here and wish we loved closer! The quirky building design looking over the fields add to the character and the Tiramisu is THE BEST I've ever had.

We had our wedding meal at Burro on 22/05 and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect time. The staff were so incredibly accommodating from day 1 of planning, providing us with suggestions and ideas and different menus. All 30 of us were seated outside in a marquee with all covid restrictions adhered to. And MOST importantly the food was absolutely amazing. We have eaten at Burro before and have never once been disappointed. All of our guests said how amazing the food and service was - with a few even telling us this was going to become a new regular. We had a very nice lunch here yesterday, celebrating 2 family Birthdays. We were spoilt for choice on the menu. After much deliberation, we all chose our courses. It’s not often I find the time to complete a review online but after many years of great food and memories I felt it was way overdue to post a review for burro. Visiting regularly as a family and with friends we have eaten here countless times, lunch with friends, special dinners with family and friends, business meetings and so on, along with the celebrations we all enjoyed earlier this year when our son Enzo was christened when the team completey decorated the marquee outside and proved food and refreshments for everyone and made the day so special. No matter the occasion the quality of food and high level of service does not deviate from perfect. The lively atmosphere of the building does justice to the passion of the team who genuinely love what they do and truly care about the culinary delights they produce. If you want a silent boring meal without the Sardinian passion then go elsewhere. The menu changes every few months and always adds something new and exciting but always stays true to traditional dishes with some popular favourites included but does not fall in line with typical “Italian chain” restaurants. This is real food, cooked with love by talented authentic chefs. I could recite the entire menu but you would be reading this review all night. In short if you want real food cooked and served by knowledgeable people with skill and passion then visit burro. Over the past few years they have become very popular so even if you think of dropping in for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon I would recommend calling them to book as they seem to be booked up day and night latley which again is testament to what they are doing. Brilliant service. Came here for the first time today for my partners mother's 70th and the staff and food were amazing. So friendly and couldn't do enough for us. What a find! This hidden gem of a restaurant is one of North Yorkshire's best kept secrets. Not 20 minutes out of York we went for a truly Italian leisurely lunch and it was fab. Don't get me wrong the service wasn't slow, we just weren't rushed. Food was fabulous. Couldn't fault any of it. Definitely will be returning.

Lovely meal at Burro during an Easter BH weekend break. Friendly service, relaxed vibe and amazing pizza. Too full to try the desert menu, unfortunately! Superb! Hardly dare say this in case it gets too busy to let me in again, but this is superb cooking. Just the right amount. Excellent flavours. Excellent service and help with choices. Lovely place, an old windmill, and fresh flowers on table. Such great food. Can't wait to come again. Puddings just as good. I had 3 lamb ribs and side salad, daughter had beef and broccoli side. Both had special lemon cheese cake. True Italian food. Sorry can't remember proper Italian names. Better than you can imagine with a lovely view out over the fields and trees. Superb, hot tasty food. Very good service by the staff who were very attentive. Difficult to hear or be heard on occasion, particularly as I have hearing issues not best suited to background noise. The calzone 4 salami with its black dough was my chosen dish. At first sight I wasn't sure but let me assure you that the taste was fantastic and I shall be returning for more of the same. We'll recommended.

Very nice restaurant and although we had booked a table earlier in the day, it wasn't in the diary. We were given a table in the middle of a walkway, near the entrance, pretty adjacent to another table. Not ideal but it was only a quick something to eat for us. Served quickly for drinks and mains but dessert seemed to take an age to get to us. Food ok (not great but not bad). Would definitely go again as close by.

Absolute little gem hidden away! It seems like a local's favourite as it was so busy super late on a Sunday. Staff was great and food was unreal! So so good! Big shoutout to the staff though - they were the cherry on a wonderfully made meals and cocktails! It was quite busy on the night and I think only 3 staff? I don't know how many times I have now been at Burro's. I also advise our tenants to go and they love it too. Burro is local to us and it has now become a firm favourite. The staff is lovely, the atmosphere is buzzing and the food is - always - delicious whether one goes for steak, arancini or the super tasty seafood and fish dishes. With lockdown etc this year we have not had chance to visit this place. The food is out of this world. I love Italian food and this is definitely up there with the best I’ve ever had. Recently I stayed with a friend in Skipwith and, looking for somewhere for a nice lunch, we discovered the Burro Restaurant. It did not disappoint. We had a delicious meal in charming countryside surroundings, all beautifully presented. It was a very warm day, but we decided to eat in the restaurant itself rather than the garden, but it was so light and airy it felt like being outside! The Sardinian proprietor was charming and welcoming. The building is attractive as it incorporates an old windmill. It's a bit tucked away on the outskirts of Riccall, but that's part of its charm. Covid arrangements, eg one-way system etc, well thought out. Highly recommended!

Beautiful Italian restaurant in the quiet village of Riccall. Based in an old windmill the lighting and unusual shape of the building make for a unique experience. We were sat inside the old round mill with its slanting walls. The food was fantastic. As close to the authentic Italian experience as you can get in England. I had spinach and ricotta ravioli that came out in large servings and my wife had the vegetarian pizza which I stole a slice of. The pizza was cooked perfectly in the Napolitan way. Thin chewy base with the crisp bubbled crust. I had olives and bread for starters. The bread came with an olive tapenade but I wanted oil and vinegar which the staff were happy to provide free of charge. The desert menu was full of traditional Italian desserts. I had the no flour chocolate cake which was stodgy but rich and delicious. My wife had a single scoop of pistachio ice cream. The staff were excellent, very attentive and were keeping the Covid rules enforced. So much so when a woman asked if she was ok without a mask as shed left it in the car they insisted she go get it. Value was decent with a 3 course meal with 1 alcoholic drink coming to around £55.
