Really great find in York! Very friendly and welcoming service. Not an over elaborate menu, but the dishes were superb. Would definitely be returning and recommend a visit. Make sure to book as limited tables for more exclusive service.

The best fillet steak I have ever eaten was at this great little find in York. It's only a small restaurant with a small number of tables so would recommend booking in advance. The service was laid back but we were not in a rush. The food was excellent and we would definitely visit again and recommend this lovely little place. The price was also great, £25 for a fillet steak with 2 sides.

Absalutely outstanding steaks. I had the mixed grill that was completely perfect. The venue is small and that is the reason it's so perfect. Very personalised and unique. A couple more things on the menu for non meat eating, my wife had the fish which was also delicious. Homemade chips would go down well also but hey they are just suggestions. What a place. I cannot express enough how amazing this place was! The food was unreal! Steak melted in my mouth, every single dish was so full of flavour, the prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food! Then the staff! The server when we visited was amazing! He usually works in the kitchen and was serving on the evening we visited- but he was brilliant! Service was great, his customer service skills were fabulous and really added to the whole experience drastically! I really hope he gets his refurb done in the coming weeks and that it is all worth it! A beautiful, very small, independent restaurant, but I will certainly be returning the next time I visit York! I urge everybody to go, get booked in, and have a beautiful evening there! ❤️

Small but homely restaurant, polite lady serving on tables. The food was first class, good chef. Best to book table, as being popular place. Some meals are nice and spicy, my wife and I had prawns with spicy sauce with bread., then we had chicken with creamy potatoes, carrots covered with a red wine sauce. But you can order steak, and chips with side salad. There is a good variety of choice. I recommend.

Nice ambience - good service. Nice starter - main was well cooked - not the best ever steak but peppercorn sauce was very good, and overall a satisfying meal. A relatively minor point - albeit still worth noting for some - please don’t order the Irish coffee - was made with scotch (slightly reluctantly confirmed with the waiter - who thought it ‘was better that way’). Anyway - overall a lovely meal and I’d recommend the restaurant - but please don’t overlook the details - they do matter :)

Absolutely gorgeous food, we had a brilliant steak dinner here and the waitress was so lovely. We were surprised by how tiny it was - booking ahead is essential! The service was great, atmosphere intimate, and it's close to a number of other great bars etc. Just be aware there's only one small toilet and it's up some stairs so not accessible to some Disabled people.

Found this fabulous cosy restaurant on Google with great reviews. A simple menu of mainly steak fish and lamb. We had the mixed steak starter and prawn in garlic sauce. It was fantastic. The lamb main and mash was perfectly cooked and the 6oz fillet steak was cooked to perfection. The waitress was fun and friendly and coped really well during a busy service. Highly recommended but book in advance as others have said.

OMG! This is such a gem of a restaurant. Food was awesome, all made fresh in a tiny kitchen. Restaurant isn't very big, has like 6/7 tables so I would strongly recommend making a reservation. Went here this evening for our wedding anniversary. It did not dissapoint. Booking is essential. It is only a small restaurant that has 7 tables each sitting 2. (Obviously they would put tables together for more people in a group) The lady that served us was really polite and friendly. Even recommending some places to visit whilst in York. We had the mushrooms and mixed grill to start and the fillet beef for main. Everything was cooked perfectly and as it isn't so big you can tell the chef really put the effort into your meal. Highly recommend but definitely absolutely make sure to book well ahead! We saw many people get turned away because there were no tables available.

It's a small space but is a lovely space. The lady looking after us was very nice and attentive. The food was very, very delicious! We had a variety of food including steak, lamb leg and a pudding and it was extremely reasonably priced. Book a table to prevent disappointment as there is (literally) about 14 spaces available

Took my girlfriend here for her birthday. We had the chorizo to start which was well presented and had bread for dipping which was a nice touch. We each ordered the ribeye with sweet potato fries and side salad; although the salad was uninspiring the steak was beautifully cooked and was worth every penny. Lovely small restaurant with great service and delicious food! Had to book in advance as there aren't many seats so if you go without booking, you're highly unlikely to get a table. Went as 6 of us and all were very happy with our meal! Ordered soup for starter and it was very hot (temperature) but amazing. Tagliatelle for mains and was very tasty. Creme brulee for dessert with shortbread was lovely as well. Recommend this to anyone who wants a quiet dinner with a friend or family or for a nice date. The waitress was very nice as well, just remember to book in advance to guarantee yourself a table - you'll be lucky if you book it one day in advance

So so good! This was just a 2 min walk away from our hotel. Wasn't sure what to expect as the husband booked it and I didn't Google it or anything before hand. Nice and cosy atmosphere. Small, intimate restaurant with a small and specialist menu. We just had steak mains and they were beautifully cooked. We ordered one sauce between us and it was plenty, no need for one each. Visited the Corner Grill House yesterday for a late lunch / early dinner and it was such an amazing experience. Best food I've ever had and trust me when I say I love my food and have had far to much of it! I just could not make my mind up which dish I actually enjoyed most as my wife and daughter had different starters and mains, it was truly incredible. If you're ever in the vicinity I would HIGHLY recommend you book yourself a table as it is a very small intimate place about 5 tables I believe but best food EVER!

Came to York for the weekend and was won over by the amazing reviews on Google and TripAdvisor so we booked a table. Because the venue is small and intimate the atmosphere is wonderful, when we were there the owner was waitering and engaged all of the tables so well we all began to socialise with one another. Food was absolutely beautiful and so reasonably priced, boyfriend said it was the nicest place he has ever eaten! There were also lots of little personal touches which really showed they cared and they even ordered a taxi for us at the end which arrived within 5 minutes. If we ever visit York again we will 100% be back and in the meantime will be recommending this place to everyone!

It's a great intimate experience, for us spoiled by a bad batch of rump. Again we were treated well about it and we wouldn't let it dominate our view. There are only 14 covers and one table for 4 others are tables for 2 Ever popular, you have to book. At least 8 people were turned away, politely, while we were there.

Me and my partner decided to stay the night in York for his birthday. I had pre booked the table the week before, being unsure how busy it would be. The waitress was very warm and welcoming on arrival. We were nearly half an hour early being more hungry than we expected. But our table was already set and reserved which was lovely. The menu isn't huge but we both found it hard to decide just because it all sounded amazing. My parter had 10oz ribeye and I had the pork. The wait wasn't bad and when the food came we were not disappointed. The steak was very tender and cooked perfectly, and my pork was lovely. I only wished for more because it was so nice with the mustard sauce. We both had the chocolate brownie for dessert and a hot drink each too. The brownie was gorgeous and not too heavy. The atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely, perfect for date nights. We would definitely come back again.

The BEST sea bass fillet AND lemon posset we had ever had!!! I am never a real fan of pan-fried fish fillets, but the one I had at Corner Grill House completely changed my mind. Super crispy skin and juicy meat. The lemon posset was surprisingly light. Cozy atmosphere and polite staff.

So accommodating, we had great service and well looked after this evening. Especially as we came with a pram (it only has 16 covers) a baby and a toddler. Had the rib eye steak medium rare, cooked to perfection. We just felt really looked after by everyone!

Lovely little restaurant. Friendly staff. My lamb fillet was overcooked (medium-well rather than rare) but was still tender. Wife had lamb rack which had crispy skin and was lamby without being woolly. White chocolate panna cotta was balanced well by the blackcurrant sauce. We were comped the dessert and a coffee due to the fillet being overdone but there was really no need. I like the fact you get to choose 2 sides so I could easily ditch the carbs! Highly recommended.
