I came here as an end of term meal with a group of students. The staff were lovely and friendly, the food was absolutely divine! In the range of starters we had, the hummus was the highlight (best in York from our extensive tests!) and the bread that came with the starters is the best bread I've ever had in my life. Would definitely recommend. For main I had veg moussaka, which was gorgeously creamy and incredibly filling. I took away my sutlac dessert for later, and it was a fine dish not to be missed! I was surprised at how cheap the bill was after ordering so much food and a few bottles of wine!

Stumbled upon this amazing restaurant after our original choice was closed. Wow, the mixed grill for 2 was huge and delicious, everything cooked to perfection. Moussaka was beautiful and lamb kebabs gorgeous. We all really enjoyed our meal, service was amazing and would definitely recommend and absolutely going back again 👍

Really good service, starters excellent. Mains were ok. Had the lamb shank , lamb moussaka and chicken skewers for the main. We were also given complimentary Turkish tea . We were served with a smile and we left with a smile

Chose this restaurant due to close location to our hotel. It is in a quiet place a bit away from crazy busy center. During lunch time on a public holiday it was almost empty. Service was friendly, attentive. Cleanliness was also good. The prices however surprised, quite high. Adana kebab 17 GBP, iskander kebab 23 GBP, really? Bread had to be bought separately, and was microwaved, not fresh from the oven. The food was fine, nothing extraordinary, I tasted better koftes. At the end I pay the same bill as I did the day before at nearby steakhouse Casa Rodizio.

Me and some of my vegetarian friends tried new dishes so authentic taste and great hospitality great location near to railway station and in heart of city center… Please book in advance and go restaurant is quiet busy as they are the only live BBQ on Charcoal in whole area… Definitely will be here on my next visit Will definitely go again with family .

Food compared to other Turkish restaurants from Manchester, London is very pricey quality is not on par with those Turkish restaurants. Service is so so nothing special staff not particularly friendly be prepared to wait for your food. Place was clean and portions size was reasonable.

Welcoming staff and very accommodating. We hadn't booked on the evening we went (didnt realise it was an evening with the government voucher scheme in place) but they said they could seat us within 30 mins. So we just popped around the corner for a drink. A little wait for the food but was definitely worth it, freshly cooked on view and absolutely delicious. Will add this to the list of places we will often visit when we are here again.

A Turkish restaurant with a fantastic group of people running it. A group of 5 of us went to Kapadokya on a Saturday night. We ordered starters of hummus, halloumi, beef sausage, prawns, and dolma. All were very tasty indeed and came out within 5 minutes of us ordering them along with some delicious warm bread that had clearly been baked in house. The highlight however were the mains which were the chicken skewers which had been barbecued to perfection on the authentic Turkish grill. The meat was crisp and barbecued on the outside but moist and perfectly cooked on the inside. The staff were all very attentive and the price of the meal was very reasonable. I would recommend this restaurant highly and would certainly return.

Not thinking a reservation was needed on a Monday evening, we ended up at Kapadokya after being unable to find a table elsewhere. This would turn out to be a really good thing! The food was really good and some of the best Turkish food we have had for quite a while. On this evening, the restaurant was completely full (we got the last table) and they were under-staffed with only one person on the floor most of the time (joined by a second person later), yet the service was top class, attentive and at no point did it feel slow. I can only recommend this place highly!

We'd just arrived in York and were looking for a quick meal. Turkish food got the nod. Deciding against the usual predictable kebabs etc. We decided to try the Lamb Saute with rice. I don't do the masterchef criticisms in my reviews. It is tasty or it is not. On this occasion it was very tasty indeed. Washed down with a draught Efes lager. The meal was not what I would call cheap. However it was again on a par with similar establishments in the area. Nice one Kapadokya.

Lovely atmosphere, great staff and excellent food. We tried the sharing meze starter and the lovely waitress explained each item on the plate. It was a generous selection of dips and came with beautiful bread. We loved it all. For main my husband had a mixed grill and I had lamb shank. This place is looking very nice from the inside. But the first thing what ruined my mood was the waitress who was very unfriendly from the start to the end of our visit. I have asked for a pot od tea but got a small cup of Yorkshire tea with milk, I was hoping to get a Turkish tea in Turkish restaurant. The food arrived quite quickly but the rice on both plates was stone cold, so we had to send it back. No apologies at all from the waitress or anyone else. They brought back new portions after a while which were looking much better than the first one. The food was good but not the biggest portions, usually I can't finish food in Turkish reataurants but this one was quickly gone. The food tasted good but the manners from the staff put me off. Pleased treat the customers with more respect and manners!! The customer is paying your wages!!

Visited on a quiet Monday night so was fairly quiet. The waiters were very friendly and the service good. The menu has obviously been reduced to make it easier during Covid, but still plenty on there to choose from. I would describe it as fairly standard Turkish food but that was just what we were looking for. Cooked over a charcoal barbeque, gives it lovely flavour. We had a nice meal, in nice surroundings, with good service.

Been coming here for a few years, always enjoyed it and don't want this review to be the overall review of everything. Service is fantastic, very quick turnaround of order, lovely setting, helpful staff. Mains wasn't great. My beef was very, very chewy. Raised concern, manager tried fobbing us off with free rice pudding. Ending up with a reasonable 50% discount off my main meal only which was the only dish we wasn't happy with.

We stumbled upon this restaurant after reading some very positive reviews. There were four of us and it was early evening - even so, we were starving after a day exploring beautiful York. Well... what a superb meal. Absolutely delicious. We shared five different entrees and three mains and they were all mouth-watering. The bread too, was warm and soft and crunchy ion outside and so moreish. Generous serves, wonderful waiting staff (Mal - thank you!) and we so enjoyed ourselves in this utter gem of a place. Can't recommend it highly enough. I wish we were staying an extra day to go back again! Thank you so much for a terrific experience. From four really impressed Australians.

Good value tasty food with pleasant efficient service. Went with a group of 5 from work and they very conveniently and accurately split the bills for us so we could claim our individual expenses. Between us, we had several different starters, mains and a couple of desserts and were all very pleased with the food.

I've been here half a dozen times. The food is really good. The service is sometimes good and sometimes you can get forgotten and they don't seem to have enough staff all the time. Edit: Just went for the first time during Covid. The menu has been massively reduced, I presume because of Covid which obviously isn't their fault, and almost all the mains are kebabs whereas before they had a much wider choice of mains. It is still good quality food. It is a lot more expensive than equivalent restaurants in other cities but then in York it's the only real Turkish "restaurant" rather than simple take away so they've cornered the market a bit. The service again as always is a bit "meh"... they're perfectly nice but don't pay attention that much to customers and often don't listen to what you've ordered so you have to repeat yourself. Ultimately though despite it being a bit over priced and the service being OK, the food is good and the starters are excellent albeit small. Next time I might just order 5 starters instead of a main course.

Delicious dishes, their BBQ area is right there in the restaurant and makes everything so tasty! The team are also BRILLIANT. Very smiley and helpful, one wonderful lady noticed me tasting the hot dip and immediately ran over with a cooler one, such attention to detail! This was my first time visiting a Turkish restaurant. On the whole, I thought it was pretty good. For my starter, I had the meze, and for my main course, I had the mixed grill. With so many nice sounding dishes on the menu, I was having trouble deciding so thought these were a good bet. The food was all very tasty so no complaints there. In terms of value, I wouldn't say the starter was particularly great value but it wasn't too bad either. While the restaurant was clean and tidy, the lighting was a little low. They did have oil lamps on the table though, which was a nice touch. And I did think the service was pretty good as the staff were cheerful and polite. I would definitely go back here again.

Wonderful authentic Turkish food. We had a mixed mezze starter which was a very generous size and delicious. We had traditional ayran to drink, which compliments all Turkish food. Our lamb saute was very tasty even though it was not a hot spicy dish. Again a generous size. The food is cooked to order, on the grill, in the restaurant. Service was friendly and efficient. The price is reasonable considering the quality of the food and restaurant.

Pleasant, comfortable environment, nice decor and extremely friendly staff. However, the food on our visit was reasonable, but by no means great. Of course restaurant food almost always pales beside home cooking and with authentic Turkish cuisine frequently on the menu at home, I admit that I'm going to be difficult to please. Still, our hummus had a strange taste and texture, so we left it, and the iskender kebab left a lot to be desired. Dessert was more successful, and we received complimentary Turkish coffee, so we can't complain too much. We may go back if we ever visit York again in the future.

Nice Turkish restaurant with useful opening hours. Friendly staff, smart dining area, comfortable chairs and clean toilets. (One male toilet, one female. I can imagine there being a queue when the venue is busy). The restaurant catered for nine of us just showing up without a booking. Lamb meatballs as a starter was delicious, but the chicken skewer main was absolutely fantastic! Not the cheapest, but very nice food and prompt service was worth it. All of our party enjoyed the meal, and we would definitely return.

In York for the weekend with my boyfriend and we decided to try this place. What an amazing experience. The food was fantastic. I had the seafood medley it was packed full of different seafood and all cooked to the highest standard. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I visited Kapadokya yesterday for a lovely Saturday night dinner with my girlfriend. My starter was the lentil soup with complementary bread and it was very delicious. My main was the mix grill and I thought it had a good variety of meats and tasted absolutely stunning. Everything tasted like proper Turkish food. I would 100% visit again for a lovely dinner.

The food was great here. I had the set menu (at £12.95 for two courses or you could have three courses at £14.95). For a starter I had garlic mushrooms. The sauce was delicious and creamy. I loved it. For main I had Musakka. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and so soft. The lamb was lovely and the top was nice and crispy. The portion didn't appear massive at the start but when you start earing it it does fill you up. It was served with rice and a side salad. The food was also very quickly served however I think this might have been because we arrived at about 1415 (45 minutes before closing time). However service was quite slow especially at the start. I took the waitress 5 minutes to hand us menus and then a further 10 minutes before she took our order. Even though we were near closing time. I don't know if there would normally be more waiters/waitresses in the evening but I don't think the restaurant could have coped even during the lunch peak with just one waitress. But all-in-all I think this was a good meal.

We was there on a Friday at 7, relatively quiet. Nice , friendly waiter staff. Ordered yoghurt dip and calamari. Dip was good, calamari a bit bland, it seems the best lacked seasoning. Helped with a bit of Salt and pepper though. For main we had the kapadokya sosial and the baked eggplant. Bit good, but not great. The special got a bit too sweet, as the balance chicken and pepper where off.. needed sing more freshness too break the sweetness of the sauce (that at first was great, but then got to sweet as I got into the meal). Staff was great though, so it would be the food that stops me from visiting again.

Came to Kapadokya as we was on visit for 3 days. Found this Turkish place - came on a Sunday evening so it was very quiet. The chicken la creme was really tasty very creamy and saucy with mushrooms and rice , also ordered BBQ lamb grill - which was very tasty and soft. King prawns with sweet and spicy sauce with the turkish bread was a hit. For dessert we had Sutlac with turkish tea - Sutlac was extremely tasty and refreshing. The staff were friendly and kept asking if everything was ok. They looked after us well. Would deffo come again and reccomend to others. Overall felt it was abit on the pricey side as we spent £52 for 2 people.
