What a lovely Restaurant! -Welcoming friendly staff. -The food was beautifully cooked. Would highly recommend the scallops and Burgers. Restaurant let us bring our own birthday cake, and they was fantastic with bringing it out when we wanted it. -Overall beautiful location, beautiful restaurant highly recommend!

If you want a nice treat for breakfast this is a lovely setting.oak beams wooden floor. Full English or continental buffet breakfast. All food very hot. There's a nice walk around the golf course. Automated drinks machine ,fresh orange or fruit juice. Lots of parking. My first visit but definitely going back

Came here for lunch and accidentally managed to catch their "Seafood special" week, we love seafood so that was lucky. Opted for the seafood platter to share between us and weren't disappointed - plenty on it and all tested really good. The dining area itself is open and spacious, and friendly staff too

Not a lover of a noisy open kitchen, however as this was all we could see, we noticed the chef worked very hard. Staff were very pleasant but food was disappointing.

Absolutely fantastic meal out at Tykes with the family the steaks were amazing all cooked to perfection and the kids meals were just as good! The staff were friendly and the waiters/waitresses were so quick and observant for clearing plates etc. A very enjoyable night out whilst we are staying at the lodges at Griffon Forest which is a short walk away. Will definitely be back.

Nice surroundings, the staff were pleasant and helpful. The food was okay but quite expensive for what it actually was. The cheapest lunch dish was a fish finger sandwich for £11.95 which came with a few chips and a very small bowl of Coleslaw, nothing about it explained the price. Because of that we probably won't visit again.

Staying in a Griffon Forest Lodge so booked an afternoon tea, very nicely presented, very fresh tasty sandwiches, good mixture of sweet and savoury scones/cakes so not overly sweet that some other afternoon teas seem to aim for. All very well made and tasty. We had a bottle of Champagne with it rather than tea! Another enjoyable visit to Tykes whilst stopping at Griffon

Stayed at Sandburn Hall Hotel and had two great breakfasts, evening meals and an afternoon tea here at Tykes, all staff were amazing and so friendly, food was great on all occasions and great menu choices

Had wonderful buffet breakfast and 3 very good dinners in this excellent restaurant Staff very friendly and food excellent. Maybe altering menu choices every other day could be helpful. We were able to choose different starters and main courses the three nights we dined there but might be difficult for longer stays. However quality, quantity and excellence of food can not be questioned.

We have visited Tykes a number of times now, the earliest being over 15yrs ago, but returned after a longer than usual period earlier this month (Feb 2022). I'm pleased to say we were not disappointed on our latest visit, the standard of food here is second to none, it really is that good, and the price is extremely reasonable too - in fact some dishes are around pub prices, but the quality is noticeably superior. On our last visit we went for Sunday lunch and had the roast beef option, it was proper beef from a roasting joint, cooked lovely, not some pre sliced mass purchased effort. The roast potatoes and veg had that home cooked feel, definitely not frozen and the accompanying veg was seasonal too. And it was priced cheaper than a pub local to home - unsure what pubs near Tykes charge. Yes, some of the wines are more expensive (but very nice) and yes, some items on the menu do seem a bit pricey, but honestly, if our previous visits and the recent roast dinner are anything to go by, it'd be worth it still. The service was as attentive as ever, not too much, not too little and the overall standards are high, the place is spotlessly clean, has ample parking and is a little gem just outside of York, am so glad we found this restaurant and will definitely be returning again, just hopefully sooner next time.

Stayed in Griffon Forest Lodges recently and we had the pleasure of visiting Tykes 3 times during our stay. The staff were tremendous, very welcoming and friendly with us and our dog. Really good choice of menu, reasonably priced. We went on Wednesday for steak night, two steaks and trimmings £30, cheap - nothing other than the price was cheap though, the food was presented beautifully, the steak was juicy and very flavoursome. The restaurant itself is spotless and allows you plenty of space to dine in privacy. It also caters for larger parties and there is a lovely seating area outside, overlooking woodlands and the grounds of Sandburn Hall.

Our family has always enjoyed Tykes ever since it opened. It is still a very good restaurant, but not outstanding, as it used to be. I am sure they will get everything spot on again soon. The fish used to be cooked to perfection, however everything else is still good and we will continue to visit. Update, the staff are as accommodating and kind as they always were, but the food is now back to excellent, hence the 5 stars

Beautiful place! Quiet and you find some really good food and not very pricey as it seems. We bought a huge sharing platter which we could not finish. Mini burgers were actually normal sized burgers and everything was very tasty. 10/10 service as well.

Lovely restaurant with great menu. Dropped in without booking on a Sunday lunchtime on our way from Sheffield to Scarborough feeling q tired and hungry. Needless to say they were v busy & the waiting time for table was 1 hour. We settled down for a drink & read the paper. Table became free after half an hour. Sunday lunch was well worth the wait.

Had lunch at Tykes today. Food was lovely and very friendly staff. Wheelchair accessible but not certain if they have a wheelchair accessible toilet. Need to phone! Table spacing perfect for Covid 19 and track and trace in operation. 👍

The wife and I are staying at griffon forest lodges for the last 5nights and we went to tykes restaurant for dinner tonight we both had the sea trout and linguine with creamy kale and king prawns which was absolutely fantastic then we had cappuccino creme brulee and Choc ice cream with ginger biscuit very nice!! Compliments to the chef it was fantastic would recommend to all and the staff were faultless, well done all.

Great restaurant which is also handy straight off the A64 with ample parking. Great choices from vegan to fish and meat. Its is a very relaxed place with nice outdoor area for kids to run. It is joined to the golf course and is also a fab wedding venue with the food also been great there. It has both a back kitchen and an open front kitchen area where you can see the head chef cook last time we were there it was Laura who was fantastic with everyone on our table saying it was the best steak they had had in a long time. My wife had the veg burger and said it was great even if it was huge so she couldn't finish it. Great value for money at great quality.

We were staying at Griffon Forest and, other than cooking for ourselves, this was the nearest eaterie. Not a problem at all because we ate here three nights out of four, never saw the same staff twice but every time we had super meals, lovely service and an all round great evening. As we live not far away and know how good it is we might drop in more often as a destination of choice.

Absolutely lovely food and great service. All the meat is on display and you can see the quality, we sat overlooking the kitchen area and could see it all being cooked fresh to order. No complaints

A wonderful large country pub with modern but rustic atmosphere. Set in a lovely golf course grounds which you can walk around (foot path round the outside leads through some woods past some log cabins and back to the restaurant and car park again. The food is delicious I've eaten there 4 times and it has always been top quality, the price is a little more than other local pubs but you get what you pay for. The lunch menu is a bit cheaper and there isn't any compromise in quality, however I would recommend booming in advance if you want to go on a weekend.
