Hello readers, let me tell you this Indian was excellent the server man was lovely and when I asked about having an alcoholic beverage he said 'we don't do aclcohol, sorry, but bring you can bring your own'. Flabbergasted and actually excited by this I ran to the shop a couple doors down and treated myself to some wine, brought it back to realise it was corked, was upset with myself, poor choice, but never fear, boss man had a cork screw and opened it for us, food arrived quick and prompt to the table. The food was actually amazing, very filling and just perfect. Would 1000% recomend. Just to add the samosa was very large homemade thing, crispy but also kinda like a yorky pud, but Indian style, absolute perfection it was.

Super delicious food!! I majored in oriental studies,and spent a lot of time in Asia,so i know what i am talking about😀 gorgeous saucy fragrant dishes,and the restaurant also has a cute kids menu which our 1.4 year old enjoyed greatly! The staff are also very nice and helpful.

A good place for the authentic Indian cuisine. Tried the dishes (chicken and lamb) from chef special menu and both were really good. Very friendly staffs and all together nice ambience.

We visited York Tandoori yesterday for supper, as it is local to us, and we have been going for nearly 20 years! I have to say it was probably one of the best meals I ever had there. The place has been freshened up with a lick of paint, and we were warmly greeted. We had poppadoms and the pickle tray to start, then I had a delicious Chicken Dansak, and my partner enjoyed his Murghi Massala. All the food was lovely, very tasty and plenty of it. I can thoroughly recommend a visit here, and it has the added bonus that you can bring your own booze as it doesn't have an alcohol licence. This makes for a considerably cheaper meal.

A proper lovely Indian restaurant. Lots to choose from, and all equally as good as the next dish. York Tandoori present a great opportunity to try dishes 'you'd not have gone for before'. Prices are more than reasonable, and the individual taste of every dish (from starter to beyond) are worth a try And it's the same if you choose to sit in. Lovely atmosphere. Definitely worth a try if you haven't already!

Great food and service. Take your own wine and Beers ect with no corkidge charge . Great place to have a quiet or romantic meal. Even party's are catered for .If you want a good meal at a reasonable price then this is the place .to go

It's a fantastic hidden little gem. Cosy and casual with fantastic service and great food. It's on the mild side but so tasty but they'll spice it up if you like it hot! It's unlicensed so take your own and no charge for corkage. There's a shop next door if you need more booze! Been going here foe over 20 years because it's great.

I know a good Indian takeaway from a bad one. This was certainly not good. Watered down, was luke warm and very tasteless. I ordered Onion Barges as a starter and these were very nice. The main meals were runny, watered down, tasteless and the chicken was bland and minimal. If this was served to me as a meal in the restaurant i would have said something. As it was a takeaway, its difficult to say something. I ate some of the meal because i was hungry. Delivery time of 50 minutes wasn't too good either, considering i live 10 mins away. 3 stars AT A PUSH is reasonable if you ask me.

Been going here since I was about 10 and I must say it's never let me down regarding serving good food. So cheap for what you get and if you want to sit in you can take your own drink which is fabulous for your pocket. I've tried other Indians all around Yorkshire but none of them compare to York Tandoori. I will also go as far as saying they are one of the best (if not the best!) over the whole of the UK! Get yourselves there people, you will NOT be disappointed! Great staff, brilliant food and an all round fantastic restaurant/take-away :D

Ordered a takaway and the food was delivered promptly by a very laid back and friendly driver. The curry was very tasty (not a disappointment like some), everything I ordered was 'just right'. I will order again, its good to know quality Indian food is a reality in York.

The staff here are so friendly and always a smile on their faces. You can also bring your own alcohol which is handy, especially with the local Spar being just a couple of doors down. We tend to get takeaways from here now rather than eat in and we are never disappointed with what turns up - The only problem is I love the Chicken Tikka Massala so much I never order anything different! Recommend.

I've been using York Tandoori for almost 20 years. It is without doubt serving the best Indian food in York. Having lived in Leeds for a number of years I can say the food here is on a par with the best curries found in Leeds and Bradford. Service is excellent, value for money is superb. The only down side is that it can be a victim of it's own success, as it is a small restaurant it quickly get's full on a Fri / Sat. There is a Spar open late about 50 meters away which and sells booze ( the restaurant has no licence so you take your own booze or buy soft drinks in the restaurant ) .

possibley some of the best indian in york. which is quite a reccomendation considering we are spoilt in the city i personally had a madras last time and was cooked to perfection. it is also very competitively priced, making a great place to go if you are on a budget, bring your own booze also so no chance of getting ripped off with the drinks
