Excellent charity at all levels. Their pet food bank is supporting over 2,000 dogs and Cat every month to stay on their own homes. Staff are valued and the Home has signed up to pay the living wage. Good people making the world a better place.

Absolutely cannot speak highly enough of everyone at EDCH! As of two weeks ago, we now have four gorgeous rescue dogs from them. The ladies, and gents, are so caring and they're totally invested in what's best for the animals first and people's wants come second, as it should be. Can't thank them enough for all their hard work. So friendly and helpful too! If you're considering adopting then I definitely recommend giving them a call!

Myself and my girlfriend rehomed Buddy one week ago and we are very impressed with our new dog (Buddy, Shar Pei) as well as the overall experience. Shaun was Buddy's assigned walker and his primary carer during his time at the home. As soon as I met him, I could see he was very passionate about rehoming Buddy and despite us already having a breed of dog quite different in size to Buddy, he put in maximum effort to socialise the dogs. Taking Buddy long walks to tire him before meeting our other dog and doing everything possible to help them get along paid off as they took to each other surprisingly well. Shaun was always cautious and careful about Buddy and took time to ensure we were a good match. Something I'd say to anybody visiting the centre in the hopes of a new dog, please don't assume that if a dog is a little boisterous, mouthy or loud at the home, that they won't calm down. I visited with my friend on one visit who thought Buddy was too much for Maggie (our french bulldog) and I have taken great pleasure in proving to him how calm and respectful Buddy is around the home. I am absolutely shocked at how quickly Buddy settled and made his home is own. He also showed manners and obeyed commands immediately which is only a testament to the efforts of Shaun and the rest of the kennel team who were fantastic with him. He definitely has an underlying discipline which came into play as soon as he entered our home. We were also given lots of information from Shaun about where to go next such as training classes, being firm and were also advised to be very careful about Buddy off the lead. With that, we have been training him on his recall and I'm sure Shaun will be pleased that in a safe fielded area we have managed to get Buddy recalling completely within one week. I hope the team stays the way it is for a long time as I am already telling anyone who is looking for a new dog or cat how awesome the team is. There is still a lot of time for things to play out, however, the first week has been such a breeze and we're very happy with our new dog. Thanks so much!!

We used their boarding services and were pretty pleased. The staff is genuinely caring and do not seem to beat around the bush (which I personally appreciate) I was glad to fund the shelter through their boarding services! Regarding a previous comment, I'm personally glad they are inquisitive about potential new pet owners, as these are rescues who don't need to come back to the shelter a second time because of a poorly made match. If you're gonna get upset or offended about a few questions you're probably not mature enough to get a dog or a cat anyways. These are the type of people who wanna be treated like "customers" when this is not a purchase but adopting a living creature.

Went in to visit the dogs and drop of bed/blanket for the dogs. The staff were so lovely and professional. The kennels were well kept and the animals looked well taken care of. Hadn't ever put my 10 year old cat in boarding before. In fact the two of us had rarely been apart. I was therefore very nervous about putting her in for 2 weeks. When I took her in and handed her over, obviously I felt like the worse traitor and most terrible, horrible, cruel, selfish and guilt ridden 'Mum' in existence.(got a bloomin' cheek to call myself an animal lover!🥺 type thing) However, the staff were lovely and reassuring. Very understanding and fairly obviously experienced. I was advised I could contact them while I was away for updates to put my mind at rest. (Kinda impossible for me) This I did a few times as Stinky my cat didn't take to kindly to being imprisoned in the strange environment and decided to protest by not eating and hiding in her carrier. The member or members of staff who looked after to her put extra time aside to give her extra TLC and fed her Chicken or Tuna to try and entice her to eat. Although still worried, I did feel that she was getting the best of care. Stinky continued to hide for the remainder of my holiday (they were happy to let her, obviously she felt safer that way) and only ventured out to nibble on her food throughout the night. The main thing was that she was eating and the staff had provided her with hideout to comfort her in this strange environment. When I went to collect her there was a reassuring notice on her pen with instructions to give more attention etc as she was more timid than most. Stinky is now home and happy and recovering well from her experience. I couldn't be more impressed with the service and dedication to duty. Would recommend to everyone. Sorry about the waffling, I think its been more traumatic for me than Stinky!!!

Wonderful dedicated staff that work tirelessly with the city's strays and lost dogs and cats. They effectively vet potential owners and yes, ask some tough questions but only to secure the best possible fit between animal and human. The small team do all they can to make sure the right animal goes to the right home. I have been lucky enough to have 2 dogs from here and both times i found the experience a pleasurable one. The dogs are often suffering from various issues from being abandoned and ill treated, the staff do all they can to help them and also support the new owners. A truly wonderful organisation with lovely staff doing the best they can with limited resources and time.

Yesterday was my first visit to Edinburgh Cat and Dog Home. The staff were very friendly. The process on rehoming was explained to us and we were shown around 2 different blocks. The place was very clean and animals well looked after. Lots of information available on each animal.

We adopted our Beautiful Dog Sandy, from here two weeks ago. The Staff are all amazing, and all the animals in their care are so well looked after. We have been coming here for many years, handing in various donations and Xmas Hampers for the Animals here, there is always so many smiles and gratitude from all the Staff, they do a tremendous job, and are always happy to answer any questions, or offer advice on any worry's you may have. After a bad experience at another boarding kennels two years ago I decided to try our dog in Seafield. She was there for two weeks and when we went back to collect her she looked fantastic and really happy, so much so we decided to use them again last year, and again on collection she looked brilliant. Most dogs fret when away from their owners but the staff at Seafield ensure your dog is happy and well looked after. She will be going back in thus year.

We board our dogs here and both are always happy to see the staff. We always get a warm welcome from Sadie as well. Always clean and water on tap for the dogs with pens outside and a large grassy area to give them a run.

Great staff who work hard to find homes for the dogs and cats in their care. Some people hit difficult times in their lives and the Home will try to help to keep them together. They launched a food bank which also helps with collars, leads, blankets etc. Our next wee dog will come from there.
