My Mother in law has been at Kirkwood Court since September 2019 & despite originally anticipating this as a temporary placement, we were so impressed with the high level of care & facilities that we decided there could be nowhere better. The staff are always kind, friendly & highly professional. The communication with my partner Kevin Bell by staff & management is brilliant. In these difficult times, we are so impressed with the dedication & commitment of the entire team. It is so reassuring to know that even though we cannot visit during the Covid Lockdown, she is in the very best hands. Thank you so much from Kevin Bell & myself.

Due to illness my mum is now staying at Kirkwood court and for anyone considering kirkwood court I just wanted to write and let you know our experience. My mum was terrified to go into a care home and as a family, we were very concerned that the staff would be wonderful while you are there, but once you leave it becomes a different story. You hear so many horror stories in the press and it is also really hard to allow others to help care for your loved ones.
When I first walked into Kirkwood court it felt like a five star hotel, the lobby is huge and it is kept impeccably clean by a great team of cleaners, who get into every nook and cranny with a cloth. The place always smells wonderful thanks to them. Just off the foyer is a hair salon where a lovely lady comes in to keep all the residents looking their best, she is always very friendly and really cares about the residents.
The rooms are more like a suite with every detail thought through and every comfort included, however a lot of the residents have personalised their rooms with photo frames, easy chairs or their own duvet from home.
There is a lovely lounge with large windows and a tv and this is where most residents gather to chat or watch tv and there is a real sense of community and genuine friendship within the group. However if you don't want to be around people or you prefer a private room there is a beautiful study where families can meet and chat.
The food is amazing and all freshly made by the chefs, homemade soup, dinners and the cakes and desserts are like something out of Great British Bake Off. it can be served in your room or in the dining room which overlooks the garden.
All the resident clothes and bedding is laundered for them and comes back to their rooms beautifully clean and fresh by the staff who always have a smile when they call in,
Perhaps it's because I was caring for my mum before she went to kirkwood court and know how even with the best intentions it can be wearing physically and emotionally, that I have to say the stars of Kirkwood court are the carers. I really can't say enough good things about them because they really do care and it more than a job to them. Nothing is too much trouble, I have seen them put down their own lunch because I asked for an extra pillow for my mum. They always have a smile on their faces and they treat all the residents with such dignity, respect and genuine compassion that I have often wondered how they keep doing it as it seems so effortless to them.
When my mum moved into Kirkwood court she was giving up, she was weary, run down and we didn't know how much time she had left. in the few months she has been at Kirkwood my mum has started thriving again. the pressure sore which was becoming a great concern has now healed thanks to the carers who kept turning her throughout the day and night. She can now sit without pain and this has brought her real comfort. Thanks to the salon staff her hair is now radiant, at home it was very hard to wash or cut her hair becuse we didn't have the right facilities, Her diet is so much better due to the chefs and she is eating more and looking better for it.
I really could go on and on about this place and how highly I recommend Kirkwood court if you are considering care, so not to sound like a brochure, it is worth viewing yourself.
