I cannot speak too highly of the care given to my ex husband in Loxley Hall. Absolutely everybody: the Managers, the nursing staff, the auxiliaries, the cleaners and the ladies in the canteen, were without exception lovely, friendly, helpful, competent and compassionate. Nothing was too much trouble for them, - not only in taking professional nursing care of, but also in friendship offered and consideration given to Bill in the three months he was there. He had a clean, bright room, with his own tv, bathroom etc., and could have his meals in his room, or in the dining room; there were also activities most afternoons, in which all residents were welcomed to join, - or could sit quietly with a book or the tv. The staff understood my trip was a 200 mile round one, and gave me reassurance over the phone when I was not there, - his close friends living in the area were also kept informed and in touch with Bill - even with Skype when Loxley was in shutdown due to coronavirus. This shutdown meant that I could not be with him, as I had promised him 'to the very end'. But it is a mark of my faith in the staff that I trusted them to take good care of him, - which they did. They also gave me the necessary guidance in the legalities and 'arrangements, in the days afterwards. Thank you to all the staff, each and everyone of you.
