Recently carried out evacuation training for the staff at St Johns following up from the fire awareness and warden training, and feel compelled to write this review. The senior management, along with the home managers Donna & Kay, are so proactive, and have a fantastic attitude to keeping both staff and residents as safe as possible, giving staff all the tools and knowledge through training to ensure staff are prepared for any worst case scenario’s. Even the less able staff gave everything to complete the courses, surprising themselves. A great “can do” attitude. Regarding the home, what a beautiful setting, a very clean and well maintained building, and the meals they provide to residents were absolutely lovely (thanks Chef). From my first initial visit, it was easily observed the care they show and give to residents, the respect they showed and the time they give just chatting to them. I was overwhelmed by the welcome I was given by staff and the enthusiasm given to all the training we undertook. This place is a credit to all staff and management, and I’ve visited quite a few residential care establishments, and none have ever been as proactive to safety as St Johns. I have tended to the foot care of the residents at St.John’s for over eight years. It is an absolute pleasure to visit there, the property is beautiful, the grounds are so well tended to, the decor is warm, inviting and very smart at the same time but the staff are the icing on the cake. I have only ever experienced genuine care and attention from all the staff with regards to the residents. A lot of thought goes into their needs and there is a wonderful entertainment programme on a daily bases. I would not hesitate to recommend St.John’s to anyone who is looking for excellent and genuine care for their loved ones.

My Mum has lived here for a good many years now,and she has always been very happy. She is well looked after by a lovely team of hard working, caring staff.The house and garden are beautifully kept to a very high standard. The staff are always very friendly when I visit Mum.We could not wish for more. Thank-you .

My now 94 year old mother moved to St. John’s House just before the first Covid 19 Lockdown in March 2020. The care and communication with families during that time was exceptional. The staff are attentive, kind and caring and nothing is too much trouble. As mum says: “The staff are so lovely and if they haven’t got something you want they will try and get it for you”. Families are able to visit at any time during the day and are warmly welcomed. If a visit can’t be made the staff are only too happy to set up a video call so that contact is always possible. Daily activities are organised within the home for those who wish to participate and trips out are also on the agenda. Mum thoroughly enjoyed a recent visit to Scarborough. I cannot praise the team highly enough and would recommend St. John’s House to anyone.

The staff at St Johns do an amazing job in looking after the residents and are supportive and kind. In todays current situation even at the end of a long shift they take the time to telephone family for an update after my mother got taken to hospital. I have great comfort knowing that my mother could not have been in a better place. The home is clean and comfortable in a peaceful setting. I highly recommend St Johns.

Locating a care home in the depth of a pandemic for our beloved Dad was a huge challenge- with virtual access only and the existing reviews this was the only basis for making an enormous decision. Here we are 2 years on and I would like to express our gratitude to St Johns House for the love care and attention shown to our Dad -this is truly a very special place to live with a level of care that is exceptional. The individualised approach to each resident recognises every aspect of their needs and wants and strives to deliver. The community created within St Johns is caring inclusive and with a genuine feeling of this is home . The leadership and teamwork within the home is brilliant and the effective communication for residents and families provides support and comfort. When looking for a care provision for a loved one St Johns House is the epitome of quality with a personalised holistic approach the reality is it can be their new happy home - absolutely wonderful!!!

Grandma is so happy at St Johns, the staff are so kind and caring and the residents couldn't be better looked after. It feels like a real home and its lovely being able to pop in and visit whenever I like. I couldn't wish for anywhere better.

I recently visited St Johns to carry out some Decorating work. It is a lovely home set in a scenic location with beautiful grounds, all the staff were lovely and extremely helpful! The residents all seem very very well cared for and always seem to have activities going on. Overall a really nice place and would highly recommend.
