Our daughter was struggling with GCSE maths despite additional support from school, so 4 months before her GCSEs we decided in a that she needed extra help. Tutor Doctor was recommended to me and I have been blown away by how personalised and effective they have been for our daughter.
The process started with a friendly and relaxed assessment by Jessica of our daughter’s current maths abilities in our home, but more than that, she wanted to talk to her, find out her worries about maths, and understand her personality and learning style so they could best match her with one of their tutors.
Tutor Doctor also arranged a dedicated session to help her with how to plan and organise her study sessions and revision timetable for all her subjects across the week so that she had a structured balance of study and rest and didn’t feel overwhelmed by the volume of work required. This hugely reduced her anxiety and has given her study skills that I believe will last her for many years ahead.
The maths tutor we were matched with, Geoff, has been perfect for our daughter and amazing! We have had 2 sessions a week with him online using an interactive teaching platform and video. In the space of 4 months with Geoff’s calm and measured approach and a predictable exam-focused system of practicing past GCSE papers to identify weak areas to focus on, our daughter has gone from being extremely anxious and avoidant of maths and scoring a 4 in her mocks to regularly getting above 70% - a huge achievement for her and much more in keeping with her other GCSE subjects. Last week she told us that she was actually enjoying doing maths papers now, which completely surprised and delighted us! She sat her final maths GCSE paper yesterday and came out smiling and confident - something I simply wouldn’t have believed was possible 6 months ago.
I don’t usually write reviews. We have tried tutors in the past for our other children and generally found the experience to feel very transactional, financially-driven and generic. The school’s approach was to offer extra group lunchtime maths sessions for children who were not doing well, and suggest we arrange for our daughter go and see a psychologist for her anxiety. This didn’t seem to us to be addressing the issue in an integrated holistic way - which is exactly what Tutor Doctor did.
This was the complete opposite - Geoff and the team at Tutor Doctor understood that our daughter’s struggle with maths was more about her perception that she ‘couldn’t do it’ and worry about doing badly in her exam as a result. Jessica and the team were on hand throughout to check that our daughter and we were happy with her maths sessions and progress with Geoff . They have designed a personalised bespoke programme to help her reach her potential, with brilliant results for which we are so grateful. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to parents of children who are struggling at any stage, or even just to help your child understand how to approach and structure their studies when they are feeling overwhelmed. Our daughter has even said she will miss her maths sessions with Geoff now that the exams are over. Thank you so much Jessica, Geoff and the team, you’ve been fantastic!

I really enjoyed it, it was informative, engaging and I liked my tutor Nasim Mohammed. I am eager for my next tutoring session already.
I really liked how my tutor delivered the lesson on the Bramble platform and communicated with me really effectively putting in full effort to ensure that the lesson was really engaging for me to learn in the best way possible. Being both a visual and auditory learner he is able to adapt his teaching and personalise it for me to suit how I am learning going forward which is fantastic. The support I am recieving is top notch. He was patient, caring and understanding of my requirements. This was in Design and Technology, the areas I have been struggling to grasp to reach my full potential in the theory exam units of the subject.
Himself and the Bramble platform will really help me to do well in DT which I'm happy about, now I am stress free about the subject because now I feel I can reach my full potential.
I like the interactiveness of the platform and how I can go back to sessions anytime when revising a topic I went over with the tutor on my own accord. It makes it much easier to learn as if the tutor is with me when studying on my own which makes it motivating. Anything I did not understand in the session I can listen and go back to in my revision session which is very beneficial for my learning.
Revision will be much easier for me now thanks to Tutor Doctor Birmingham.
When I properly start next wednesday I will revise the same topic and content covered and learnt during the session with the tutor, in accordance with the study timetable created while utilising the recorded session.

I started having tuition lessons about a month ago and I can confidently say that having weekly study session calls with Rachel have immensely helped me to organise myself more by planning the upcoming week with me, showing me the best way for me to learn and how to successfully complete my weekly task by prioritising effectively as well as having time to relax. Kheifa my maths tutor has also assisted me in being confident with the foundation of A-Level Maths. I have been able to grasp the knowledge easier and understand difficult concepts.

I had Tutor Doctor last year, to assist with two of my A-Level subjects and the tutors, in particular, really helped with me grappling the nuances of the topics that I found difficult and stressful.
An excellent support, for anyone who may be struggling with their academic lives.
Within Biology, for instance, the recap and reiteration was valuable in memorising the content, so that I could apply the knowledge to homework, and revision.
Tom and Erica were brilliant tutors, who were patient, considerate and understanding of my requirements.
I prize the persistence and determined nature of the system, to ensure that one receives the best possible result and outcome.

I’ve only recently started my tuition lessons, I can absolutely say that Beatrice is an amazing biology teacher. She works closely with me to enhance my learning and takes her time in teaching me and answering any questions I have. Being a kinaesthetic learner she was able to support me by drawing out examples as we were going along so I fully understood what was being taught. Thank you so much tutor doctor

I’ve been a tutor with tutor doctor for 2 years now and the team are very friendly and supportive so it’s great working with them! I’m head of physics at a secondary school and it’s been really nice developing a relationship with my tutee and earning a bit of extra money on the side.

Very friendly and organized company. I've been working for Tutor Doctor for about 9 months now and I find it a very pleasant tutoring atmosphere. Great as a part time job while studying at university.

I loved the way in which the sessions were conducted . The power points were easy to access even after we had the sessions. And being able to watch the session and listen to what was said is a great form of revision for me. I highly recommend this form of tutoring.

Jessica has been tutoring my daughter since March 2020. When she first met my daughter, my daughter was incredibly shy and found it difficult to even speak to adults that she wasn't very familiar with. She also really struggled with Maths and English.
Jessica has been absolutely fantastic with her...I feel like she genuinely cares about my daughter and her progress and she is incredibly responsive and dedicated. In fact I don't think I've met anyone who works as hard and meticulously as she does.
Jessica put a clear plan in place, provided regular homework for me to do with Harriet, visited the school initially to learn as much about her as she could and meet Harriet's teacher and is constantly reassessing the progress she is making.
She has gone way above and beyond for me on many occasions.
In terms of Harriet's progress, she has improved a lot more than my expectations were in such a short space of time. We moved from face to face to online tutoring sessions during the lockdown which hasn't hindered Harriet's progress at all in my opinion.
Harriet's confidence as well has already massively improved which I would attribute directly to the tutoring sessions we have been receiving.
I'd like to thank Jessica for all her continued hard work

Overall, working with Tutor Doctor has been a great experience! Karen and Andy constantly check up on the tutors to make sure sessions are running smoothly. As they conduct assessments to understand the student’s learning style, the have always matched me with compatible students. Karen is also always available to answer questions regarding students or lesson plans.

I have been with Jessica from Tutor Doctor since the beginning of April 2020 when, at the age of 60, I decided to embark on doing GCSE Foundation Maths. I have found Jessica to be extremely proficient, very capable and, as a teacher, "fabulous". After 40 years, she has rekindled in me the joy and appreciation of Mathematics and numbers. I highly recommend Jessica as a fantastic teacher, inspirational and able to break down complex problems into simple and digestible forms.
From a personal and professional perspective, I highly recommend and endorse Jessica.

Personalised online tutoring with Tutor Doctor has made juggling home-schooling and my work so much easier and allowed my children to continue to learn whilst schools are closed. I really didn’t know where to start but Jessica and the team are so supportive and always on hand to support on those bad home-schooling days with any questions and they get me back on track, I simply couldn’t ask for more. The maths online one-to-one tutoring has been phenomenal, my daughter now understands concepts she found very challenging before. The online platform is like being in the same room as the tutor, is easy to use, interactive and records all the sessions so it will be great for revision when GCSEs come round. The team also support with any homework too which gives me a much-needed break! I highly recommend them!

Jessica and Daveena from Tutor Doctor worked with my son over the spring and summer term during lockdown. He was due to start a new school in the September and I was worried he would fall behind being off school for 3 months, where his new school were doing all on online lessons. With Daveenas help not only did my son kept up to speed but started to excel and enjoy english and look forward to his lessons....unknown previously!! I would highly recommend Jessica and Daveena and will always turn to them if we need any further extra support again in the future. Thanks for everything!!

Andy has been extremely helpful in assisting my daughter with their studies. He went extra miles and provided useful information to help me as parent to continue this process at home.
